True Beauty (minor tdp S2 spoilers)

Can we please appreciate how beautiful all the characters in the Dragon Prince are? Beverly you seen, not only how beautiful they are designed but also the gestures and voices and ugh. Why is everything in this show so beautiful. The women are strong and wonderful. Sarai has exactly the taste of dry Humor that I like and the whole scene where Sarai and Harrow fight and the guards exchange money? SO BEAUTIFUL! Don't even get me started on Amaya and the Sunfire elves. The fighting scenes are so fluid and exciting! Gren is always the optimist and looks quite handsome with a beard if I might say that. I love love LOVE Rayla to death with her sarkasm and basically everything she does. Ezran is so cute especially with Zym ("little doggo dragon"-quote my brother) and Callums inner struggle and how Sarai helped him was so enchanting (is that how the word is used or should I say absorbing?) Claudia is still my girl and I hope Soren gets better soon because we can't live without oblivious boy. Corvus is GREAT, like, how he doesn't even care that Rayla is an elf and just wants to serve his new king, it's so... Ugh I'm so overwhelmed and excited and Help. Also, don't even get me started on Aaravos, he's just so handsome and I don't really care if he's supposed to be the villian because have you heard his voice??? I freaked out when they talked about the two queens because LGBTQ+ representation!!!! And its so well done too. Everything this show does is so great and if it is creating handsome characters, representation of all sorts, may it be lgbt, different people of colour or awesome folks with disabilities, I just want everyone in this fandom to stay as positive and wonderful as we can be and appreciate not only this show but each other and the people around us. (This post doesn't nearly capture everything that's great about the Dragon Prince and I apologize for any spelling errors.)

Is it just me or is he a total drama queen? Like, look at him

Compare that to the times when Claudia cast a rune or something and .... But maybe that's just because he's in battle? But also this:

He's completely unimpressed and through the whole scene he's being dramatic. (Sorry I dont have any GIFs right now) It's just that I can't picture him NOT being a drama queen. Anyone else?

Fulminous

When Claudia casts this spell in S1E3, she draws a neat, single line that looks like calligraphy.

When Aaravos busts this spell out during the fight in S2E9, he drama queens the shit out of it

and then Viren shoots the lightning out of his staff.

And now all I can think about is, has drawing the runes has changed over the past millennium, evolving over time as penmanship does, or is this literally the difference between Claudia’s and Aaravos’s handwriting?

I have nothing to say to this I just thinks it's awesome :D

Season 2 of The Dragon Prince is a delightful indulgence in Trickster symbolism and themes, neatly threaded around Aaravos, Lujanne, and the Crow Master. While I expected Aaravos to be a Promethean Trickster ahead of Season 2—see my previous posts—my expectations were vastly exceeded. This post is about how these symbols and themes aid in teasing out details about Aaravos which both inform my interpretation of him as a Promethean Trickster, and present possible answers to the questions surrounding him.

I don't thing he has to be evil but I do think he is going to be the villian of the story. Maybe All the other elves saw humanity as beneath them and he thought it was wrong. Maybe he tried to help but instead of teaching them primal magic they learned dark magic and he was banned for helping. Now he wants revenge? I don't know maybe it's just the point that I always try and see the good in people. (Not necessarily a good trait)

Aaravos’ Backstory: TDP Foreshadowing

So guys, I am a big nerd who loves foreshadowing in fantasy. While watching Season 2 of TDP, I took screenshots of the books Viren found in the library when he was trying to look up Aaravos, just in case they were decipherable…

And this book looks like it was written in a Germanic language!

So I typed the words into Google Translate, and they’re in Danish!

(TDP fans who actually speak Danish, please forgive me for this terrible google translate job. And fix my mistakes if you want, because I’m not sure I spelled anything correctly. XD)

Conclusions:

Aaravos is super powerful

In the past, he helped one group of people fight another. From the way this is written, he probably helped the humans fight the elves.

The author says they have never heard a name like Aaravos before (they’re not an elf) and that others call their people “inferior.” Sometimes humans are perceived this way in the show because they can’t do magic. Aaravos encouraged the author’s people to take control of their destiny.

He also gave them “awards.” I looked up “foraæringerne” and I think “gifts” is a better translation. He gave humans magic? Weapons? Magical weapons? Maybe he taught them dark magic!

This reinforces the already convincing theory that he’s a villain

@aceroruga clarified for me that “indbildskehed” means vanity or conceit. “They must pay for their vanity,” yikes!

@fallkos clarified that “bygge vones fremtid” means “build our future.” Ironically, that’s what Google Translate wrote before I changed the spelling of some other word. The algorithm was working against me lmao

Robots and the Internet

I don't know if someone already thought about this but I recently re-watched Age of Ultron and one thing came to my mind. In some movies it's shown that robots with the ability to search the internet come to the conclusion that humanity is bad, mostly because they see the news, our history and all those hateful posts.

But humanity isn't all that bad, our history is full of war and death but also of beautiful stories of pride, hope, love and so much more. Take Rosa Parks as an example. The internet is full of creative posts, cute videos or inspiring stories.

Now why would a robot whit the ability to search the internet in seconds just oversee this? Why would it not see how wonderful human kind can be if it could look past those dump idiots and little bitches who are shouting the loudest?

Maybe instead of wanting to kill everyone it would be friendly?

Dunno, just a random thought that came to my mind.

(Or maybe it would just be really horny because of all the porn on the internet)

A Nonbinary Protagonist

I’ve wanted to write a fantasy novel/series/trilogy for a while now where the protagonist is nonbinary. I’m nonbinary and am yet to find any fiction with nonbinary characters. So, hey, why not create my own story.

I’m still in that stage of working out the story. I think it will be a steampunk/fantasy. So basically magic vs technology. 

There are a few issues that are important to me that I will work into the story, gender being one of them, along with patriarchy, the environment, and a few others. It seems to be that many of these issues are intertwined.

I don’t have a name for my protagonist yet. I don’t have a title for the novel yet. But hopefully as I keep free writing those things will become known.

p.s. If you want to read a really good book on creativity, “Blessed are the Weird” by Jacob Nordby is excellent.

The light Gabriel had had in his eyes, even has he told Dean and him to grab Kali and run. He couldn’t see it now. All he could see was fear. He picked up the small scalpel, seeing the smaller man flinch at the sight of it. “No,” he said softly. “I…” He reached a hand forward to touch Gabriel’s shoulder, but the man winced again. For a moment, Sam wondered when the last time Gabriel had felt a hand on him that had been in kindness. “I…” He softened his tone. Sam was a big guy. He knew it. Hell, the world knew it. Big and intimidating. Maybe not as much as Dean, but Sam figured anyone would be intimidating to Gabriel now. “I don’t want to cut you,” he said softly. “I need leverage.” Gabriel’s eyes darted over to the table. Sam understood. He set one hand on the table and brought the scalpel forward. “Please, if you can, don’t move.” Gabriel nodded very slightly. For as large as Sam’s hands were, he’d naturally had a delicate touch. Even as a kid, he’d been able to help his Dad and Dean with their wounds. Hell, learning to use a thread and needle was an essential part of being a hunter. As he cut away the first thread, he stared at it. Half of him wanted to ask, but he knew it wasn’t his place. He couldn’t begin to imagine the pain. Well, he’d been to hell himself, but “hell” was an experience. And from the looks of the once so bright and proud archangel… he’d seen hell. “I’ll… I’ll get you some fresh clothes and I’ll help you clean up, okay?” He tried to smile, tried to make a good show, but the look on Gabriel’s face spoke volumes. Not disbelief, not miss-trust, but fear, even now. He lowered the knife. “I don’t know what you endured,” he said. “And I can’t make it go away… but I can fight like hell to make sure he suffers for what he did. You know I will.” Gabriel regarded him for a minute. Slowly, he lifted a trembling hand, reaching out to touch Sam’s hair. Still long, still soft. Even now. He lowered his hand and placed it on Sam’s shoulder, gripping it tightly. Sam nodded. “You can keep it there. I won’t touch you.” Carefully, with Gabriel sturdy, he cut away the rest of the thread. He watched as Gabriel’s lips parted slightly, taking in what must have been his first breath in a long time. He looked up at Sam, his other hand still petting Sam’s hair. “Never cut it… eh, Sasquatch?”
