Happy 2023 and detail plans
After a new big negative world-changing event in 2022, let's hope 2023 will bring a positive world-changing event. I won't get into politics but I really hate it that the world in 2023 has still wars taking place in several parts of the world. I just don't understand why we can't just live in peace together, helping each other out. That is one reason why we have no fight-system in Magical Harvest. We want a peaceful, relaxing game and you have already plenty to do - even without fighting. However, that does not mean we dislike games that involve fighting. We are big fans of Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy VII and also play MMORPGs. Magical Harvest will have some tragedy in the story / lore, so there's no fighting needed to compensate. I already wrote about our plans for 2023. Finishing the base-feature programming of the game and adding more assets at the same time. In the beginning I wanted to focus on programming, but it's more motivating to do some art in between (and it's better to have something to show you!). Also I can decide each day 'What do I want to do today? Art or programming?' which also helps a lot to not lose focus. A big part of the first half of 2023 will be creating the town - or the first parts of it. Marie is already designing the concepts, but it takes a while because she doesn't have the time that I have to spend on the game. As soon as the concepts are done, I will start creating the assets for the town. Currently, I'm sitting on the animals and creating first animations, which is a new field for me that I have to learn. So it takes a bit more time. I implemented the rough base of the breeding game for cross breeding, which will be extended/finished as soon as the first animations of a few animals are done. I will visit my family in Germany for one week. In this week I'm planning to fill the homepage-bachelor page to give you some details about the bachelors in the game. We want to move to another place in the first half of 2023 and also have our small wedding in July. Life changing events for us! We hope, you will have a good start in 2023 and that the year brings you happiness and joy! Stay save and healthy! Thank you for your support and being with us in our journey. I remember when I saw this scene as a picture and people were laughing because of the face Axel has in a certain frame. But if you watch every frame slowly it literally breaks my heart. He looks like he’s about to cry and that he’s desperate, even more when he is still raising his head.
Fic authors have a problem with feedback – or rather, with the lack of it. Fanfiction has a notoriously low ratio of comments to hits, and many of us have expressed our frustration that we can get a hundred, two hundred, five hundred, even a thousand views on our stories, but only a handful of readers will leave kudos, let alone comments.
Unfortunately, this only gets worse for long, multi-chapter stories (aka, the longfics we know, love, and would sell our souls in a second if it meant an update), which also happen to be the stories that authors need the most support to continue and complete. Law of diminishing returns, y’all, and it sucks.
We’re not here to guilt you into leaving comments. We want to address the problem by changing the format, and we need your help to do it.
The goal is to increase the amount of feedback authors get from readers, especially on stories with multiple chapters, and to make it easier for everyone to show how much we love fics. We’re opening a discussion with ao3 to figure out how/if any of these options can be implemented, but first we need options to present!
Ability to leave a form of kudos on every chapter, instead of only once on the entire story: this lets authors know that you’re here and you’re reading their updates, so their hard work isn’t getting tossed into the internet void.
Comment templates: suggested comments that can be customized or posted as-is. Many of us draw a blank or get nervous when we try to think of a comment, so having pre-made options will both increase the total level of feedback and serve as practice, making it easier to leave more in-depth comments in the future.
Upvoting/leaving kudos on comments themselves: positive reinforcement makes giving feedback more fun and rewarding, and it lets the author know that readers are present and agreeing with other comments, even if they don’t leave one themselves.
We’ll contact AO3 to discuss the possibility of adding any of these as native features, and if that won’t work, we’re looking into creating and sharing a user script.
As a reader, what would you like to have? What would you be most likely to use? New ideas, opinions on ideas that are listed here, they’re all good.
As a creator, how would you feel about each of these options? Can you think of other ways of receiving or encouraging feedback?
Pros and cons of these (note: our thoughts on this are discussed in this google doc)
GET THE WORD OUT! Reblog this post, send it to your friends, link to it from your stories. We need as much input and support as possible to get this off the ground.
Feedback makes for happy authors. Happy authors make for more stories. Let’s keep this part of fandom alive!
More details about our thoughts, discussions, and ideas can be found in this google doc.
So there is a farm game coming where you can play as a dragon like person, or different animal kind of person?! And there will be 5 playable races?! What will be the others? I want to know! Going to play the demo now~
Hey Magical Harvesters!
Time to talk about the Ki'shen! They're one of two races you can play in our demo on Steam or Itch io!
Ki'shen have the ears and tail from an animal. Most common are canine (dogs) and feline (cats) but there is also a chance that there are other mammal animals. They're the smallest of the five playable races in Hyldena.
Rumor says that Ki'shen were once blessend by the gods and have now a connection to animals. It's said that they have it easier to calm and befriending magical creatures, and some individuals prefer animals to people.
They have an open-mind, a lot of energy and are mostly friendly and optimistic. They try to show their happiness via bright and friendly colors in their clothing. Since the vanishing of the magic and magical creatures, more and more Ki'shen are loosing their optimistic nature and become depressed.
The Ki'shen are often found in the Sidus-order because they believe that magical creatures are connected with the cosmos itself. Even when a magical creature seems more a part of light or darkness, they say it's only an aspect of the cosmos.

We finished the descriptions for our Bachelors and Bachelorettes! (Texts might improve over the time)
Kyle Human Kyle comes from a family that have been residents of Dragonreath since the beginning and have given shape to the city as blacksmiths and architects. As the blacksmith of Dragonreath, Kyle is mostly involved in repair work within the city. When he is not busy repairing, he likes to make trinkets and is showing an attention to detail. He despises magic and believes that the catastrophe was only a matter of time, as magic, in his opinion, never does any good. However, his goal is to work with a high quality magical ore one day to better understand the differences between magical and normal ore. Probably his works could be made even better through magic, if only he could put down his hatred. Ri'kin Ki'shen Flowers are the most important thing in Ri'kin's life, which is the reason why he opened a flower store in Dragonreath. If you’re looking for flowers, you’re in the best hands with his help. He knows stories of magical flowers, even those that no longer exist in Hyldena after the catastrophe. When he can share something about his colorful plants, he’s passionate and outgoing - unlike his usual self. Ri'kin is a shy, often gloomy-looking Ki'shen. Other Ki'shen, who are normally very playful and open-hearted, avoid him as a result. Since he is new to the city and hasn’t made any friends yet, he is lonely and only feels comfortable in the presence of his flowers. When his customers show interest in them, Ri'kin begins to open up. The truth is, Ri'kin would like to be closer to others, but he always loses heart when he sets out to approach new people. However, someone may be able to help him...
Azriel Elf Azriel is known for his friendly and helpful character. Valariel is often spotted near him, which doesn't seem to bother him. Since Azriel is also known for his magical talent, it is quite surprising that he studies magic in his own teahouse instead of the Sidus-Alliance. Had his Uncle Ethaniel not been the leader of the Sidus-Alliance, Azriel would probably be more likely in the Shailyn-Order, as he feels more connected to the stars and the cosmos. There is tension between his uncle and him, and it seems like it has something to do with the catastrophe, but he doesn't want to talk about it.
Valariel Drakys Valariel lives outside the city in the dark forest and avoids being seen by others. The brother of Neria is strongly connected to the darkness, so it is no surprise that he belongs to the Obsideran-Pact. Since he reveals little of himself, he is difficult to judge. However, he is described as cool, distant and, above all, dangerous. He is a Drakys who is convinced that his kind descended from the black dragons. Therefore, he can be found in many different places searching for information on this subject. Although he prefers to keep to himself, he also seems to be around Azriel quite often. Is there a connection between them?
Zarek Nereid Zarek came to the land together with the Nereids. When they lived in the ocean, he was a warrior who protected his people from dangers in the water. He is a self-confident, slightly arrogant Nereid who now devotes himself to spearfishing to provide food for the population. His protective instinct and self-imposed obligation keep him from exploring the world, which is his dream. He is adventurous, does not shy away from any danger, but this can also be his doom...
Secret Elf XXX --- well - it's secret --- XXX
Lyris Human To help the people during the famine, Lyris devoted herself to farm life. On her farm south of the city, she grows simple crops, but she does not harvest enough to put an end to the hardship. She is very convinced of her capabilities, and believes that the reason she can't produce enough yields is due to the land and her gods. She knows a lot about crops and also about those that have disappeared from Hyldena since the catastrophe, as she certainly studies the old books about agriculture. However, she has not yet been able to put her theoretical knowledge into practice in order to cultivate magical plants again. Despite her friendliness, she shows a reluctant attitude towards better farmers, and is not sympathetic to the gods. The latter could be her undoing... Ky'rah Ki'shen A typical Ki'shen who loves animals and likes to make everyone around her happy. Ky'rah tries to make friends with everyone, which is not always a success. Her emotions are usually very volatile but strong, causing some to find her exhausting. The decline of magic definitely weighs on her mind, as it causes magical creatures to disappear. Most of all, she would like to see more magical creatures, as she has only seen one once in her life when she was very young. She owns a dog, but it has disappeared and she is desperately looking for it. Hopefully nothing has happened to her dog... Elwyn Elf Elwyn is a priestess in the Sidus-Alliance, who believe that light is the core of magic. The elf knows a lot about the different beliefs of magic and although she is a priestess of light, she sees a true aspect in all of them. In her opinion, it would be best if everyone would unite and consider magic as a whole, rather than placing importance on whether it comes from the light, the dark, or the cosmos. She is friendly and dreamy, but sometimes a shadow settles over her face that comes from her past. Some things are not so easy to forget and this becomes her undoing every now and then. Neria DrakysA Drakys, who has her own herb store. Neria seems kind and very close to nature. She tries to be friendly and polite to others, and has trouble attracting new customers to her store. Neria came to Dragonreath after the disaster and would like to know what nature looked like before the loss of magic. At first glance, she doesn't seem like a typical Drakys, as she avoids conflict and tries to help where she can. Here and there, many also believe that her friendly nature is just a facade. Maybe it's time to find out if this is true and how much Drakys is in her. Thalana Nereid If you want to learn a little more about the ocean, rivers and lakes, you can go to the Dragonreath Aquarium. Thalana, a fashion-conscious, elegant and charming Nereid, works there. She likes to talk to visitors about the aquarium, but is also happy to give fashion tips if someone is interested. Every now and then she tends to embarrass others with flirtations, but only if she knows the other person understands the fun. She is not afraid of hard work for her friends, as long as she can wash the dirt out of her clothes. Despite her rather open nature, she is very cautious when it comes to really trusting someone. As if she's afraid that they might find out something about her that no one should know...
