You know what I hope we get to see? The coexistence in Will Byers of that kid being emotional as hell and tough as nails. 

He avoided Henry for a week while also communicating through lights and clawing at walls after being kidnapped, he resisted Henry’s possession for a long time and held out like hell even sometimes fighting hard enough to fade back in and momentarily snatch some control, not to mention living with those genuinely dangerous “flashbacks” for a year based on the season 1 finale as well as just living with the constant ability to feel him even after the possession ended. And you bet your ass he cries about that shit. And it isn’t despite the fact that he’s strong. It isn’t just not contradictory to the fact that he’s strong. It’s a big part of why.

Will didn’t lose himself. He didn’t go numb. He didn’t harden. Arguably one of the key differences between him and Henry is that he remained soft. He didn’t just fight to save his own life, he fought to save himself, a fight he continues every day. He is tough because he allows it to hurt.
