Funnily enough, when they first meet past the edges of the Sol system, the aliens like the humans.
None of the humans were prepared for this.
The humans prepared for decades- for centuries! to contact life out in the black, and be judged harshly for their past.
The aliens, almost to the one, seemed delighted with humanity and everything they entailed. Good, bad, and ugly.
“You see, we heard you calling out for long, long, long… we could not find where you called out from. Now we have! You called for so long, and now we meet you! It is good to know you! We have tried so hard to find you and say, Hello!”
The messages Earth sent out, just in case there was anyone out there to hear, to extend reassurance that they simply were not alone was received always with delight. And they sparked a soft race to find the origin of such a kind and curious signal into the vastness of the universe.
Obi-Wan's shit eating smirk is EVERYTHING.
Cassian: boob is too funny......tit is too aggressive.....breast is too formal.....
Azriel: it’s seven in the morning
Nesta being treated like a feral, uncontrollable thing when:
a) Azriel attacks Eris at the high lord meeting and tortures people for a living
b) Feyre attacks Beron and - inadvertently - the lady of autumn at the meeting
c) Cassian is banned from a whole court and slaughtered a whole village when he was angry
d) Rhys worked with a tyrant for 50 years
e) Mor and Amren had a fight that destroyed a mountain
This is part of the reason why I don’t believe our ghosts are going to cross over any time soon. While they have had discussions about their deaths and their pasts, there needs to be some sort of healing and acceptance of it, and that hasn’t happened yet for our core ghosts.
I feel like Dawn's scar healed. Like the physical scar Maddie was in did not feel like the other scars. So I think her crossing over kind of healed her scar. And so what I also think is that to cross over a ghost is gonna have to get closure on something that is immediately connected to their death/scar. Because all the ghost's scars are about their death but it's heightened and with all their insecurities added into the situation. If I remember correctly Dawn crossed over because Maddie had said something to her that was the complete opposite of Dawn's insecurities. Dawn's death is directly connected to her friends making fun of her behind her back and her obviously feeling hurt by and insecure about that. Then later Maddie says to her that she deserved an apology and that she's sorry people made her feel like a joke because she isn't and she even tells her that she's a good friend. Dawn was probably always insecure about that. I mean the other ghosts did make some not so nice comments about her too. But when Maddie came she told her the exact opposite and she truely meant it. She gave Dawn the validation that she had probably always wanted from her friends and that healed something for Dawn which lead to her crossing over. That's why Rhonda didn't cross over even after finding out what her friend's song was actually about. Because it doesn't directly connect to her death. I'm assuming for her to cross over she would have to get closure on Mr. Manfredo's betrayal, however that may look like for her.
So what I'm saying is. I think crossing over is directly connected to a ghosts's death and the insecurities that lead to/were present during their death and that are represented in their scars. When a ghost crosses over their scar mentally and physically "heals" because that ghost is not bound to those insecurities or their death anymore
Can't convince me it didn't happen.
Q
I'm thinking about the Jedi and Anakin, like you do, and it just cracks me up so much to see any variation of 'they always looked at him with suspicion, like they were waiting for him to mess up.'
Sure, in TPM they're unsure about him because Qui-Gon is dropping a nine year old with a lot of previous issues onto their laps and telling them they really should give him a laser sword and train him in the ways of the supernatural universe bending empathic powers that let you blow things up with your mind and that go haywire if you're emotionally unbalanced. Nobody's thrilled about the prospect.
But after that, honestly, the only Jedi who can ever be said to look at Anakin somewhat like that is Mace, which can be forgiven because 1) the man is Stressed and the people he doesn't expect to mess up are far and few in between, and 2) he and Anakin still have a rather cordial relationship overall, even if they aren't bffs.
But Luminara? Constantly smiles at Anakin. Jocasta? Same. Aayla? Calls him Master Skywalker (respectful, considering they're the same rank in the Order, if maybe not in the Army), is very caring and nice to him. Shaak Ti? Never changes that soft expression of hers. Adi? Big smirk when he shows off, like "aw, would you look at this kid." Plo? You can't even tell how he looks at people. Kit? Biggest grin. Even Piell? He's a grumpy bastard but he's not judgmental. Ki-Adi? Yeah, I guess it does happen once in a while - but he does it with Yoda as well they think he might be under attack from the Dark Side, so really it's him having a suspicious nature, not him targeting Anakin specifically. Seriously, Obi-Wan is more critical of Anakin than Ki-Adi is, and Obi-Wan has an Anakin-shaped blind spot in his soul.
Speaking of Obi-Wan - when he leaves for Utapau in RotS, he has the sparkly eyes of someone so overflowing with love that the gravitational pull of his affection for Anakin is warping the very light around them both.
Jedi freaking like Anakin is what I'm saying.
okay but imagine its a normal day on coruscant but similar to real life there is a paparazzi and someone happens to get pictures of anakin and padme and the holonet does a backflip
suddenly EVERYONE is talking about anakin and padme, padme and anakin, jedi and senator... and the jedi council is completely uprooted from the inside out. What are they supposed to do? they have to kick anakin out
but then the holonet supporters start to... actually like anakin and padme. it is fanpage after fanpage and positive tweet after another. its an insane chain of people stanning these two coruscant kids because they are now the cutest couple of the holonet.
AND THEN the jedi council comes out with a statement that basically says, "yeah we might kick anakin off the jedi order" and the entire universe RIOTS. protesters outside the temple, advocates take to the streets, speeches are made, etc, etc... its all coming to a head.
AND WHAT MORE? anakin "dramatic" skywalker here is basically bathing in the beauty of this and is over his snit he was in -over the fact that someone snitched (;D)- and now is actively showing up at the rallies and holding up signs that say "at least someone loves me" in bright pink lettering. at one he shows up with a sign that says "if u kick me out i join the separatists bet" accompanied by a poorly drawn image of anakin as a sith- ironic- and he has a jar and people donate 10,000 credits for the hell of it.
well nOW THE COUNCIL IS LIKE UH. They have the biggest coruscant uprising in the history of the galaxy because the stans and fangirls are flocking to support hot jedi anakin skywalker on his quest to be better than the jedi council.
well the council leads a vote, with mace leading the "kick him out" side- he wants to see if anakin actually goes dark side- and obi-wan leads the "keep him in" side. and by one vote, obi-wan swings the election and anakin is allowed to stay.
THE PEOPLE CELEBRATE. everyone basically got what they wanted in the first place save the select few that wanted to see anakin go to the separatists- because honestly, its been long enough of a war, right?- and anakin's first thing he does is marches the 501st out of the jedi temple in a parade with a sign that says "IM GOD NOW" because seriously, he has everyone on coruscant in a chokehold with his influence.
oh, and the "paparrazi" that took the photo? it was obi-wan.
Audible Symphonia Edition! Where Cassian takes the symphonia (maybe a new one just for this) and reads Nesta’s romances in his courtier voice.
And then Cassian starts putting his own commentary into it like “go to bed, Sweetheart” or “I can do this much better, you know. In fact I would (insert graphic details here)” and when it hits to love confession scenes, he’ll pause and say “I love you, Nesta Archeron. My heart and soul belongs to you.”
And Nesta listens to it all the time. She finds she doesn’t mind that he keeps interrupting her reading, since he’s always doing that anyways. She listens to it over and over again especially while he’s away because it makes her laugh, but also because the sound of his voice brings her comfort.
Just a ton of fandom things Star Wars, ACOTAR, HP, Marauders, LOTR, anything I might be into at the moment
