Stan Lee was embarrassed by writing comics at first because of observing the people around him who were doctors, engineers, “proper writers”, etc. That’s why he went by the name “Stan Lee” as a pen name so he could keep his actual name for writing what he thought were proper books, though he discovered over time that his profession as a comic writer was just as profound a job as anyone else’s.
