“The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it.”
This isn’t mean to bash the show, I fucking love it sm. I just felt like the third season took a turn in the wrong direction and these were the main reasons why:
How is Circe a part of the pagan group when they called on her in Theo’s uncle’s exorcism as one of the great witches of the past?
How did they kill Pan if he’s a god? Sure, maybe he wasn’t as strong as God or Satan, but he was still a god.
Who the fuck is the Green Man supposed to be? In Greek mythology, Gaea was the earth goddess, so I’m guessing they took it from Egyptian mythology where the earth god is Geb. But it’s never actually clarified.
What does a hobgoblin have to do with a pagan group? I don’t remember anywhere in Greek mythology where a hobgoblin in mentioned. I kept trying to guess which Greek god Robin was, so I was really disappointed.
How can the coven now worship Hecate if she’s a Greek goddess and they literally just annihilated a bunch of Greek worshippers?
Who the fuck is Caliban? When I looked him up, he was from Shakespeare’s The Tempest, the son of the witch Sycorax. Which then brings me to my next question,
If Caliban is the character from Shakespeare and is the son of Sycorax, why didn’t they point out the relation when Sycorax showed up to the academy with the other hedge witches?

Say:
“By four elements joined, and the word of my spell,
No being in any form who wishes me unwell, shall enter this home, by the four elements I sit upon safety, this is my fortress and throne”.
How as Priest, devotees, and other followers of Aphrodite can we most profoundly increase our connection to her while also venerating her?
It’s simpler then it sounds actually. But the most profound way I’ve found to understand and grow closer to a deity is to apply self discipline to imitate them and their values. In Aphrodite’s case we must examine her as a Goddess. What is she? At her core? She is love, unbridled and unrestricted love and beauty. She exist in all things that fall under this, in the delicate brush strokes of an oil painting, in the bashful smiles of new love, it is these things in which the Goddess resides. We can use this in our practice but choosing to project that energy.
When feeling emotionally triggered ask yourself, what would Aphrodite do? How can I apply love to this situation? Does it warrant the wrathful side of love? Or is there something that can be done to maintain or restore harmony with peace? Before acting ask yourself, is this loving? Does this express love to myself? Does the express love to others?
Show love. Tip 50% just because you can, send that text message, buy a gift, kiss your partner, compliment a stranger.
Show self love.
Go to therapy. Rest. Wear some perfume or cologne, take a shower for the feeling, exercise, compliment yourself anytime you find yourself insulting yourself. Set a boundary. Do shadow work. Meditate. Do positive affirmations as often as you can.
Create beauty.
Paint, sing, compose, draw, write, sculpt, even if you think you suck. Have a conversation with a friend. Tell a story. Clean your home. Light some incense.
Some witches will argue that Christians stole pagan traditions and holidays, that there is absolutely no way syncretism played a role in anything related to the topic... then go on to use the whitewashed concept of chakras, try to girlbossify the Jewish demon Lilith into a "Goddess", demonize Hoodoo (and by extension black folk) in the name of love & light, steal Indigenous traditions to remove them from their original context... and the list goes on...
Of all the elements none can be fully experienced or sensed physically in the way that water can. It soothes with its coldness, eases with its warmth, and suspends with its immersion. ‘=
Perhaps the easiest way to understand water metaphysically would be through the physical and immersive properties of water. To understand water is to understand connection that cannot be touched, only felt. For ultimately water is about two things, emotion and connection. (with many sub facets)
The astrological components of water are the energies of pisces, in the form of mutable water. Cancer in the form of cardinal water, and scorpio in the form of fixed water. All of the elements in fact can be thought of as having three different aspects to them a cardinal, mutable, and fixed aspect. This is reflected in the heavens.
Mutable water can be explained as a stream, this water is free falling, guided only by gravity and the shape of its vessel. This water forms the veins of the earth, connecting other great bodies of water and providing physical and nutritive connection where its environment deems it should flow. The mutable energy of water seeks freedom and expansion and has little shape of its own. Its mission is to spread the qualities of water between less mobile aspects itself and those things and places which may lack its resources.
Fixed water could be explained as the steadfast expanse of the ocean. However in the context of scorpio I prefer to think of the mariana trench. Fixed water is unyielding, not because of stubbornness but because of vastness. Fixed water is representative of the subconscious, the primal, and the repressed, particularly themes of emotion, and spiritualism.
Cardinal water is the genesis of water, a deep spring with frothing bubbles bursting forth from the earth. Dying the sand it soaks with itself a rich brown. Cardinal water is about bringing forth emotions and connections where they have not yet been reached. Cardinal water seeks to be the spark of emotion, the voice which advocates for emotions, and a provider of spiritual sustenance.
Magically the correlations between water and practical magic differs very little. The focus however does become just that, practical. . The energy of water can be harnessed for many task it is most suited for those task which align with the following correspondences:
Emotion
Soothing/easing
Healing
Cleansing/washing
Divination
Spirit work
Protection of the emotional body
Illusion

TIL “healing crystals,” which sellers market as a way to “connect to the Earth you’re fighting to protect” are predominantly derived from places like Myanmar and the Democratic Republic of Congo (known for lax environmental regulations) or from industrial-scale copper mines.

Aphrodite enjoys all things that are beautiful, indulgent, sensual, or loving.
She is especially fond of Roses, lavender, sandalwood, rose quartz, sea shells, white sand, jasmine, perfumes and colognes, art, music, and myrtle.
The herbs she loves to receive as burnt offerings such as incense, or anointing a devoted statue of hers in the oil, finally throwing the herbs into the ocean is an excellent way as well.
Aphrodite is also pleased by self care, non harmful sexual endeavors, acts of kindness, and acts of beauty. I will write a separate and much more in depth post about incorporating her veneration into daily life.
