This cross-quarter fire festival is celebrated on August 1st or the first full moon of Leo & the seventh sabbat of the year. It represents the first harvest when the Earth’s bounty is given for the abundance received.

Some believe this is the time where the God has weakened & is losing his strength as seen in the waning of the day’s light. The Goddess is pregnant with the young God who will be born on Yule.

In some traditions, this day honors the Celt god Lugh, the god of craftsmanship; He is skilled in many things including wheel making, blacksmithing & fighting. Though there is some discrepancy as to why Lugh is honored on this day. Some tales say it’s because he held a harvest faire in honor of his adoptive mother, Tailtiu.

It always bugged me in The Logging Adventure book how Cassie freaks out when they all morph ants, and she’s having an anxiety attack on the floor and Rachel has to hold her to try to calm her down, and the whole time Cassie is thinking ‘oh, I can’t believe I’m making Rachel hug me! Rachel hates to give hugs, she must be so uncomfortable!’

Like, Cassie, babe, sugarcheeks. What Rachel are you talking about?

The Rachel who nearly got herself stuck in a cat morph because a girl that she wasn’t even that good of friends with anymore was upset? The Rachel who was like, ‘This girl needs cuddles! I don’t care what it costs!’? That Rachel?

The Rachel who crouched in a construction site with both arms wrapped around her friends to shield and protect them from harm, but also to comfort them? That Rachel?

The Rachel who in the future stands in the hallway of a busy hospital and hugs her cousin who has just manipulated her into hunting down their ally-turned-enemy because she feels bad for him that he has to do things like that? That Rachel?

Cassie. Sweetie. Toodlebug. I know you were hopped up on ant pheromones, but if you slander Rachel like that again I am going to have to revoke your empath license. Rachel will hug anyone who needs it and she will never feel bad about it.

Dæmonism is just the advanced form of when you'd imagine an animal running alongside the car as a kid.

to rewild your witchcraft

walk barefoot on stones in shallow streams.

talk to the wind and let it carry away your regrets.

forage for wildflowers to place on your altar, press in thrifted books, or give to loved ones —be careful when identifying

watch sunrises and sunsets. wake up before the sun. bare witness to the painted sky.

spend hours in the woods among the wild. take long long walks or sit still and watch the world.

talk to plants and listen to them. make friends.

get field guides to trees, plants, birds, etc. that are native to your area. learn which are which. bookmark pages that you recognize or want to find.

sing back to the robins. caw back to the crows.

journal by firelight and feel the flame burn your worries away.

gather snow and bring a bowl inside. talk to it and tell it your worries. your fears. let it melt, transmuting your stress and worries into healing nourishment. bring it outside and water the soil. see how things can be changed.

dance. run. move your body to sweat, if this is something you can do

collect stones from the river and try to find the best ones. keep them in your pocket. hold onto them to remember that you’re an animal.

go to a lake and float. feel the water carry you. lifting you from your stress. bring a vial and collect some for spellwork.

make a necklace out of an acorn and thread.

stand in the rain. dance in it. lay down in the grass and let it pour. let it wash fears away, transform doubt to hope. start anew.

HIS DARK MATERIALS BOOK/SHOW SPOILERS

____________________________________________

Still processing how much they changed in the second episode!!!! I wonder whether the reveal about Lyra’s father so early will cheapen their later moments together? And how the appearance of a window (and that window, of all of them to reveal) will change that final moment with Asriel’s bridge in the North. Also, could that mean Will makes an appearance sooner than I could have ever expected? I almost hope that juxtaposing Lyra against someone like WIll could cause her spark to shine through a little more. Overall, not a bad episode, but shocking in the divergence from the book and made me wish even more for a more feral, fearless Lyra.
