Hey everyone, an Animorphs fan who describes themself in their bio as an “authoritarian” and a “nationalist” just followed me. This made me realize to my horror that perhaps some of my Animorphs followers are fascists. So, I would like to make a few announcements about the politics of Animorphs so that all fascist followers will promptly fuck off. Did you know that Animorphs is:

Anti-war and colonization (the Yeerk war is a metaphor for the horrors of the Vietnam War, in ways that are made explicit in The Andalite Chronicles when Loren compares Alloran to her father, a Vietnam vet)

Anti-genocide (the genocide of the Hork-Bajir is portrayed directly and gruesomely by Dak Hamee, one of its victims, in The Hork-Bajir Chronicles)

Anti-racist (Cassie, a black girl heroine, turns into a polar bear to terrorize a white man who calls her the N-word, one of the greatest most heroic minor characters in Eva, a Latina immigrant)

Deeply skeptical of government authority (see the portrayal of world leaders in the David trilogy, the fact that the military leadership of the Andalites was ready to genocide the Earth even though they could have ended the war with much less loss of life)

Feminist (Cassie and Rachel are just as important as the male Animorphs, Rachel is the most fearsome warrior of the group and regularly attacks men who try to control her)

Anti-homophobic (Tobias laments in book 23 that humans are unlikely to accept Hork-Bajir when they can’t even accept gay children)

Environmentalist (the importance of protecting the Earth and its biodiversity is raised in nearly every book)

Any authoritarians and fascists can unfollow me right now, and go choke on your own hatred. And maybe find another book series to stan, because Katherine Applegate hates you too.

Sea witchcraft

Sea witchcraft, also known as sea magic or ocean witchcraft, is a type of witchcraft that is centered around the sea and its energies. It is a form of nature-based spirituality that draws upon the elements of water, air, and earth, and the rhythms of the tides and the moon. Sea witches may focus on healing, divination, or protection, as well as working with sea creatures and the spirits of the ocean.

Here are some key practices and beliefs associated with sea witchcraft:

Connection to the Sea: Sea witches believe in the power of the ocean and its ability to heal and transform. They may feel a deep connection to the sea, and incorporate its energies into their daily practice.

Working with Water: Water is a central element in sea witchcraft, and sea witches may work with it in a variety of ways, such as using sea water in rituals, collecting rainwater for use in spells, or working with water crystals or gemstones.

Moon Magic: The phases of the moon and its connection to the tides is an important aspect of sea witchcraft. Sea witches may perform rituals or spells during specific moon phases, and use lunar correspondences in their practice.

Sea Creatures: Sea witches may work with the spirits of sea creatures, such as dolphins, whales, and sea turtles. They may also use shells, coral, or other oceanic items in their spellwork.

Protection Magic: Because the ocean can be dangerous and unpredictable, sea witches may focus on protection magic, using spells or charms to ward off negative energies or to protect sailors and fishermen.

Divination: Sea witches may use various forms of divination to gain insights and guidance, such as tarot, runes, or sea shell readings.

Weather Magic: The sea and the weather are closely connected, and sea witches may work with the energies of storms, wind, and rain. They may perform rituals to calm storms or to bring rain during droughts.

Sea witchcraft can be practiced both on land and at sea. Some sea witches may work by the ocean, incorporating natural items like shells, driftwood, and seaweed into their practice, while others may incorporate the essence of the sea into their practice by using items like sea salt, seashells, or sea-themed decor in their homes.

Sea witchcraft is a beautiful and powerful way to connect with the energies of the ocean and nature, and to deepen your spiritual practice.

Imagine; Kids

Well, not specifically just kids, but human beings of a younger age. Like below twenty-ish.

I personally headcanon that children’s dæmons reflect the age of their human counterpart. Basically, I imagine their physical maturity to run parallel. Babies would have newborn animals, toddlers would have baby animals, etc. Adolescents, I feel, would have “teenage” dæmons as well, until they settle. The older you are, this would be reflected in your dæmon, despite their being a representation of your soul. They would still be tangible, after all.

So imagine a baby just starting to learn how to walk and talk, their little dæmon toddling along behind them, mimicking their gurgling noises. Sometimes the dæmon is a delicate bird with only a few feathers, or a soft kitten, or floppy-eared puppy. When the lil’ one is feeling creative, their dæmon might be a baby soft-shelled turtle, or a wobbly foal.

Imagine a pregnant woman, about six months in. Her dæmon and her are both excited, and a tad nervous, of course. They try to brush it off, though; too many hormones, and dust being attracted to the growing life inside her, readying itself to take shape and become a dæmon in only a few weeks time.

Imagine someone who’s reached the age of twenty-three, and they still haven’t settled. Teachers, friends, family- everyone says it isn’t that unusual, don’t be self conscious, plenty of people settle late. Still, they can’t help feeling uncomfortable every time their dæmon changes their form. Because how can you manage in the real, adult world without knowing who you are? Their dæmon is embarrassed about it, but reassures their human in private fiercely that there is nothing wrong with them, nothing at all.

Imagine a high school where dæmons are settling- or not settling- left and right. It’s both exhilarating and exhausting, dealing with the drama that settling dæmons brings. There are always the kids who aren’t happy with their dæmon’s settled form, whatever the reason may be. The freshman spend a fair amount of their time speculating who’ll settle first, and as what, whereas the seniors are anxiously hoping to settle before graduation. The librarians are very helpful when it comes to having full databases on every species of life on the planet that is a viable dæmon, and are eager to drag in the awkward juniors to see what kind of lizard their dæmon is.

Imagine siblings and the way their dæmons would interact. Twins would maybe try to be the same, or never stay in the same shape as their twin. Imagine an older brother and his little sister, seventeen and eight, respectively. His oversized saint bernard dæmon is very protective of the younger dæmon and girl. Or imagine three sisters, one of whom ends up with chatty bird, another with a large, speedy hare, and the last with a gazelle. Whenever they get into arguments, their dæmons will throw themselves into the fray to defend their humans.

Imagine thirteen-year-olds looking jealously at the older kids dæmons. At that age, their dæmons can’t fly very well yet as birds or bats, and they can only run so fast on gangly, disproportionate feet. Changing shapes is no longer as easy as it was when they were ten, but they aren’t anywhere near to settling yet; Everyone’s a mess, including the dæmons.

Just a few more of my random imaginings! Hope you enjoyed!

🌊 Subtle Aphrodite Worship 🦪

Make your body wash/shampoo/conditioner rose scented

Have a rose or sweet scented candle that you light (doesn't have to be on an altar)

Create a skin/body care routine

Have perfume/cologne that you dedicate to her

Wear jewelry that reminds you of her

Carry a pocket charm that reminds you of her (dove works well in a Christian household and is a sacred animal of hers)

Keep a small picture of her in your wallet

Have a dove or swan stuffed animal

Have imagery of beaches, seafoam, seashells (especially clams), wings, hearts, swans, pearls, or doves around

Wear a locket with a picture of someone you love or of her

Give compliments to strangers

Drink water regularly and dedicate a glass of it to her

Collect seashells (if possible)

Collect things you simply find pretty

Plan your outfits/wear clothes that make you feel good

Keep a journal of poetry dedicated to Aphrodite and love-related topics; can also be a general positivity journal or diary (maybe a diary in a way of writing letters to her but saying a code name instead of "Aphrodite")

Keep heart-shaped imagery around

Embrace yourself; give yourself love

Forgive yourself of past mistakes

Give yourself compliments; start small if needed; I recommend doing this in a mirror

Pin up pictures of loved ones on a mirror or wall

If possible, burn some incense in honor of her; strawberry always has a great smell to it

Watch a love-focused movie (romantic or platonic)

Listen to or read stories about acts of kindness and love

Paint your nails or wear make-up (if you enjoy those things and are able to)

Listen to music that makes you feel good; dance to it like nobody's watching!

Have a party where you and your friends create drawings, items, or crafts that you can decorate your rooms with c:

Start a flower garden, especially with roses; tend to a plant

Practice compassion, especially towards yourself

Fall asleep/meditate to the sound of ocean waves or singing birds

Listen to/sing love songs!

Spend time with loved ones

Have a friend's night; go out on the town together, watch movies, go camping, etc.

Spend time with your pets

Take a shower/bath, especially with rose petals and candles (SAFELY!!!!)

Visit a nearby ocean or body of water; stand in the water (if safe) and ground yourself there

Write about your crushes

Make a list of qualities you'd like in a partner; make a list of qualities you don't want (like green flags and flags)

Take a walk alongside a beach/body of water

Take care of your personal hygiene

-

I may add more to this later, but here is my list of subtle ways to worship Aphrodite so far! Worship can absolutely be discreet, and if it needs to be for safety or the like, know that the gods will almost certainly understand. Take care, y'all! 🩷

On The Elements: Water

On The Elements: Water

Of all the elements none can be fully experienced or sensed physically in the way that water can. It soothes with its coldness, eases with its warmth, and suspends with its immersion. ‘=

Perhaps the easiest way to understand water metaphysically would be through the physical and immersive properties of water. To understand water is to understand connection that cannot be touched, only felt. For ultimately water is about two things, emotion and connection. (with many sub facets)

The astrological components of water are the energies of pisces, in the form of mutable water. Cancer in the form of cardinal water, and scorpio in the form of fixed water. All of the elements in fact can be thought of as having three different aspects to them a cardinal, mutable, and fixed aspect. This is reflected in the heavens.

Mutable water can be explained as a stream, this water is free falling, guided only by gravity and the shape of its vessel. This water forms the veins of the earth, connecting other great bodies of water and providing physical and nutritive connection where its environment deems it should flow. The mutable energy of water seeks freedom and expansion and has little shape of its own. Its mission is to spread the qualities of water between less mobile aspects itself and those things and places which may lack its resources.

Fixed water could be explained as the steadfast expanse of the ocean. However in the context of scorpio I prefer to think of the mariana trench. Fixed water is unyielding, not because of stubbornness but because of vastness. Fixed water is representative of the subconscious, the primal, and the repressed, particularly themes of emotion, and spiritualism.

Cardinal water is the genesis of water, a deep spring with frothing bubbles bursting forth from the earth. Dying the sand it soaks with itself a rich brown. Cardinal water is about bringing forth emotions and connections where they have not yet been reached. Cardinal water seeks to be the spark of emotion, the voice which advocates for emotions, and a provider of spiritual sustenance.

Magically the correlations between water and practical magic differs very little. The focus however does become just that, practical. . The energy of water can be harnessed for many task it is most suited for those task which align with the following correspondences:

Emotion

Soothing/easing

Healing

Cleansing/washing

Divination

Spirit work

Protection of the emotional body

Illusion

A brief summary of plants associated with water and their proclivities:

Chamomile - this is also a solar herb, it is excellent for cleansing, soothing/easing, and healing or balancing egoic issues, it can be used in love magic

Rose - A venusian herb extremely attuned to magic of beauty, glamors, love, relationships, the thorns carry a fiercely protected energy that is not shared with with petals.

Aloe- a lunar herb. This herb is a healer and protector of peace.

Comfrey - a saturnian herb known for protecting travelers, and spells of healing and exorcism

Marijuana - A saturnian herb, known for its use in spells of divination, illusion, protection, cleansing, and healing.
