Kintsugi:  The Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold or similar material, highlighting the cracks instead of disguising them

The bowl is beautiful, there was no denying it. After months of waiting, the finished product fits perfectly in your palms, slivers of gold coating the rim and cracked edges of the fine china glimmering brightly under the dim light of your bedroom, starkly contrasting the porcelain white hue and ornate floral designs. Its’s perfect, so perfect that you can almost forgive yourself for breaking it in the first place. You smile, pressing your lips against it, the coolness spreading across your skin.

It almost makes you wonder if you should show this to your…. “Husband” …..

Smile faltering, you pull the bowl away from your face, and stare at the clock ticking ominously above it. You haven’t seen him in a couple weeks, and none of the butlers would even deign you the slightest answer whenever you pepper them with questions. It’s probable they know as little as you do, however unlikely that situation is.

But you know your place. For all the glamourous marble columns and comforts of plush furniture surrounding you, the fact is that the whole setup was nothing more than an elaborate cage, set to separate you from the outside world and chain you down to whatever your owner desired.

You squash the feeling of resentment piling deep in your throat, unconsciously grasping your hand to prevent it from shaking so hard. There is no use in being angry, no point in submerging yourself in that all-consuming feeling of rage that never surmounted to anything more than additional hurt.

The heavy wooden doors to your room open with a loud swing. The lack of tell-tale padding sounds gives way that this could be none other than Illumi. It shuts with a simple click, and nothing happens.

You stop and turn, wondering why he was just standing there, and nearly drop the bowl. Illumi stands at the door, hollow, unmoving, dark substances pouring from the crevices on his face. It’s blood, you realize with a shock. It dribbles down his face sluggishly, pouring out from the angular cuts that cover his face, haphazardly made and extremely painful to look at. But the dark abyss that are his eyes scare you the most. It’s different. Even more so than usual. It’s strange how emptiness is felt, how everything sucked out of the room until you’re left with nothing but beating hearts and sweaty palms. He stays where he is, your breath catches in your throat, and the familiar creeps of fear and dread crawl over your skin, clambering all over your neck and oozing into your brain, you wonder if you’ll survive the night.

“What happened?” You ask before you can stop yourself.

DAICHI

You go down to say hi to him before the match, and he has to do a double take because it doesn’t register at first when he looks at you, but the second time he looks his eyebrows just kind of shoot up his forehead

“Is this okay?” You’re tugging on the hem of the jersey kind of self-consciously because this wasn’t even your idea, it was your friends’

“Y-yeah, of course!” Ever heard Daichi stutter before? Now you have

 “I’d better go sit down-” Before you can turn away he grabs your hand and gives you a (relatively quick) kiss in front of the whole team - something he rarely does. Now you’re both smiling like crazy.

As you walk away Suga punches him on the arm and asks him what he’s grinning about (even though he DARN WELL KNOWS) and Daichi can’t even give him a full glare

He definitely glances your way more than normal when he’s playing, and after the match is over it doesn’t matter how sweaty he is, be prepared for a big, huge hug

ASAHI

You may think you’ve seen every shade of red on him, but when he saw you in his jersey his face invented a brand new one just for this particular moment

“Y/N! Are you sure?” He’s kind of glancing around and half standing in front of you like he doesn’t want anyone else to see, but he keeps stealing glances

“Don’t you want me to wear it?” You’re suddenly kind of wondering if this is a mistake. “What? No! I mean yes! If you want to-” You laugh softly because you’re starting to realize what this is all about

“Of course I do,” You have to speak up a little over Noya and Tanaka’s hooting and hollering, “I’m proud to wear this! You’re my ace!” You’re beaming up at him and he doesn’t know if his heart will hold out much longer

He shakes his head. “You’re incredible,” he murmurs, and you tug him down so that you can press a kiss to his lips. “So are you. I know you’re gonna kill it out there”

(He does)

BOKUTO

You are making Akaashi’s job very easy - from the moment he catches sight of you in his jersey, Bokuto feels absolutely INVINCIBLE, he can’t help but run to meet you once he catches sight of you, he lifts you off your feet and twirls you around

“Look, Y/N is wearing my jersey!!” He says it to anyone that will listen, showing you off the whole time until the match is about to start and he needs to get on the court, and you need to get to your seat

“I’ll be cheering for you!” The moment you say that, you can see him standing just a little taller, and he can’t resist pressing a few kisses to your face until you know you have to pry yourself away

He is c o n s t a n t l y glancing over at you, and every time he makes a spike, he looks your way with this huge grin on his face

The moment you meet him afterwards (they won by quite a lot), he’s telling you how amazing you are, how he thinks you’re his good luck charm, and that you should probably wear his jersey to every match

USHIJIMA

To the untrained eye, it doesn’t seem like he has much of a reaction, but when he sees you and realizes what you’re wearing, his heart legitimately skips a beat

“Is this mine?” It’s a stupid question with an obvious answer, but he asks it anyway as he tugs at the bottom hem - mans is TALL so it’s especially huge on you & he thinks it’s the cutest thing

When you nod with a shy little smile he can’t help but reach out and ruffle your hair a little bit,  “It looks good on you”

His heart is going doki doki

The team pretty much instantly notices the fact that he keeps sending these short, quick glances your way and keep ribbing him about it, but all he’ll do is shake his head with this little tiny smile

He realizes that he lowkey really enjoys the fact that you’re wearing it, because then even when you’re sitting in the stands everyone knows you’re his

TENDOU

I feel like out of all of them, he’s the one that tossed out the idea of you wearing his jersey as a joke one day, and then you show up at one of his matches and you’re ACTUALLY WEARING IT

He’s acting so smug about it - “You see that SemiSemi? Y/N is wearing my jersey. Oho Goshiki, maybe one day you’ll find someone to wear your jersey”

So he’s acting all nonchalant about it but when he holds your shoulders and says, “You’re wearing it!” His voice cracks a little because the fact that you’re here and you care about him THIS MUCH - it does something to him

“You’re so cute” - he has to press kisses all over your face, to the rest of the team’s complete disgust

When you’re hanging out with them after the match he’s a little extra snuggly, with his arm around your waist or shoulders at all times, he keeps stealing these little glances at you

Get ready because now he’s expecting you to wear it to pretty much every match

You sighed for the hundred times today. Looking at the broken microwave, hoping that maybe it will work this time. Your boyfriend was out with his high school friends to watch a volleyball match between MSBY Black Jackals and Schweiden Adlers. 

Remembering it, you never thought that someone as gentle as Sugawara Koushi used to play as a setter. But that one time you grabbed his hand on yours, the calloused hand makes you understood all of his hard work.

The first time you met the light grey-haired man was around a year ago. Your sister asked you to accompany her son to the school trip as you were done with college. You almost curse your life at that time. After all, you are really not that great when it comes to children. Your nephew is probably the only exception by the time.
