Heads Up!

So....

Well, it's no secret that this blog isn't very active. That is because, while I still love the Yogs, I just haven't had the time or inspiration to do much digital art. Until I can draw quickly (and by that I mean finish something in fewer than 10 hours), digital art is now shelved.

I've been drawing loads traditionally, but if I start scanning and uploading that, very little of that will be yogscast.

So, farewell to the souls that followed for yogscast content! I apologize, but this blog is now officially a general “”"""art blog””””.

Confession time. @floccinaucinihilipilificationa ‘s bee comics have been fueling my creative impulses for years now. No joke, at school I'm knows as “the kid that draws those creepy bees”. It has evolved into a bee with a hyper-realistic human face, usually saying a semi-inspirational quote. I drew this on a paper-covered table in the school library.

Hello! Your newest ink drawing are absolutely incredible and I'm trying to figure out how you did the fur texture (my favorite part!). Did you use a white pen, or is it just about leaving gaps (like it is for the separations between the limbs and body?) Also what pens did you buy those thin lines are so crisp without being too heavy and im intrigued

the texture is made with hatching in the (more-or-less) direction that the fur would grow. I'm not overly worried about keeping it realistic, as long as the texture and values are to my liking. here's a closeup of the chimera/kirin creature:

you can very clearly see the press and release of the pen, it's not always perfect! as for pens, I use 005 Microns.

for A5 pieces like the above it's 005 all the way through. when I work on a piece, I usually do it in one sitting, so the line of the pen becomes finer as it doesn't really have time to soak up the ink into the felt tip. I start with the dark areas like horns or muzzles or paws, and work into the main body which will usually appear more faded and thinner.

I was thinking sunfish for rose just because the name includes “sun” in it?? jade could be a kelp forest personified as a mermaid, and I was thinking a red starfish for dave if only because it’s red and spiky (haha)
