When Alice Cullen came to you for a favor you wouldâve declined if you knew it would land you in the throne room of the Volturi. You had stayed under the radar for almost a hundred years. Before you were turned you lived in the upper class of New Orleans in the early 1900 hundreds. Your life was ordinary, your family was well off so you never went without. However that had changed one night when you were strolling through the French Quarter. A rogue vampire had moved into the New Orleans area, and you had become their next victim. As they were feeding from you, there were interrupted by a gaggle of drunk men stumbling into the alley. They had vanished just as quickly as they appeared. A crowd gathered around you as medics were called to the scene. You were put on a stretcher and quickly brought to the nearest hospital, where you succumbed to your injuries. Well thatâs how it appeared to the humans, but to the supernatural you were changing. Since the vampire left so abruptly their venom moved through your blood stream. This caused your heart to stop and for you to appear dead. Your parents held a beautiful funeral for you and you were buried with the rest of your family in one of the beautiful cemeteries of New Orleans. Three days after your âdeathâ you awoke in your tomb covered in a beautiful pale blue dress that your mother chose for you. A burning sensation in the back of your throat brought you back to reality and you easily broke out of the tomb. And you descended on the first human that came into sight. Once you were done feeding you pulled back in shock as you realized what you had done and what you had become. You quickly fled the city and ended up deep in the Louisana Bayou.
And thats where you stayed for almost hundred years, you fed on the animals, and learned that you had the power to control nature. You could make vines appear out of nowhere along with flowers, trees or any other type of plant. You quickly became a legend along with the Honey Island Swamp monster. Humans spoke of a creature that appeared human with golden eyes, (h/c) (h/l) hair, and pale (s/c) that shimmered when the sunlight hit it. After hearing this you moved deeper into the bayou.Staying in the Bayou helped you stay under the Volturiâs radar as the legend slowly became forgotten. So when Alice drug you to Italy with her and Edwards little human you were quite surprised when you ended up in the same room as the Volturi Kings and their guards.
When you got to Volterra and found Edward. You were led there by Jane, who you know as half of the Witch Twins. Your little group had been flanked by two more members of the guard. One was a short blonde haired man who looked like he was carved out of stone, and when you had made eye contact with all he did was send you a wink. He must have been Demetri, the Casanova of the Volturi. And the other member was a mountain of a man he easily towered over you and the rest of your group. He had dark brown hair and a chiseled face. When you had looked at him it had left you feeling confused. You felt this unexplained pull to him,and at that moment the world felt like it was just the two of you. He had to be Felix the executioner of the Volturi. Even though you stayed in the Bayou you still knew of the Volturi and their power. A few months after you had been changed, another vampire stumbled upon you in the bayou. They had stuck around for a few weeks and thats how you learned of the Volturi.
Jane led you, Alice, Edward and Bella to the elevator. Felix slid the black gate away from the doors before him and Demetri stepped in first.
âGo onâ Jane says. And you were the next one to enter the elevator quickly followed by Bella, Edward, Alice and finally Jane. You stood in front of the giant executioner but kept your gaze straight ahead after feeling his gaze on you. Out of the corner of your eye you could see Edward and Alice sharing looks occasionally glancing at you. You didnât know what they were doing but you had a feeling it wasnât anything good for you. And very shortly your feeling would be proven true.
Your group stops in front of two huge brown doors that Jane yanks open with ease. Your group is ushered into a domed shaped room with small windows high up near the curve of the roof and being the only source of sunlight. Pillars decorated the outline of the room. Up on a small platform of three steps were three men situated on three thrones. The floor was marble and everything in the room resembled the same cinnamon colour of the city, only slightly paler.
âSister they send you out to get one but you bring back threeâŚand half.Such a clever girl.â A voice came from a black haired male who took a few steps forward towards the Jane. He was Alec the other half of the famous Witch Twins, his power just as terrifying as Janeâs.
"What a happy surprise!" A man with black hair who stood from his throne in the middle smiled. "Bella is alive after all! I love happy endings, but they are so rare."
You looked around the room. Vampires dressed in assortments of grey's and blacks were at various sides of the room. Almost like a clock formation. The man with black hair walked straight towards Edward and took his hand in his. And thats when you realized that this was Aro, the king who could read every thought that passed through someones mind.
"They are so rare. Her blood appeals to you so much.. makes me thirsty." Aro said as he stared off momentarily distantly and muttered some Italian.
"How can you stand to be so close to her?" He then asked Edward.
"It's not without difficulty." Edward muttered.
"Yes, I can see that." Aro chuckled.
"Aro can read every thought I ever had with one touch." Edward said to Bella.
"And now you know everything." He then directs to Aro claiming his hand back.
"So get on with it." He then demands. A sinister smile that sent a shiver down your spine appeared on Aro's face.
"You are quite the soul reader yourself.
Though you cannot read Bella's thoughts.
Fascinating." He says, lowly before taking a step back. He glanced upon Bella who was sandwiched between Edward and Alice.
"I would love to see, if you are an exception to my gifts as well." Aro said with a tender smile, though it offered anything but tenderness, that resulted in Bella cuddling closer to Edward.
"Would you do me the honour?" Aro then requested, holding his hand out.
Hesitantly glancing between his eyes and hand Bella slowly stepped forwards and placed her thin warm hands in Aro's own bigger and colder ones. Once he has a hold of her hand Aro pulls her forwards slightly, eagerly glancing at it as he tries to see into her mind. Everyone else in the room, even yourself, were intrigued to hear the results. Shock riddles over the man's face as he looked up, uttering.
"Interesting." A clear enough indication to all of the curious minds that even his gifts couldn't penetrate her mind.
"I see nothing."
He took a careful step back, turning to face his co-leaders as Bella rejoined Edwards side.
He paced back towards the steps which led to the thrones before his voice chimes out once more.
"I wonder... Let us see if she is immune to all our power. Shall we, Jane." He sent a sinister smirk towards Jane.
You were getting ready to pull Bella back when Jane looked her way, but a hand on your shoulder stopped you. The touch sent a weird tingly feeling through your body. You looked behind you to see the owner of the hand. It was Felix who shook his head no, and then Edward is rushing forward.
"No."
"Pain." Jane muttered. At her words Edward suddenly stopped rushing forwards and instead started to convulse in an intense pain that didn't even allow him to scream out. His feet slowly lifted off the ground as his back arched. After a mere second under her pain, he collapsed to the floor.
"Stop! Please stop!" Bella begged, going to rush forwards but was stopped by Alec. Meanwhile Alice rushed towards Edward going by unstopped. Alice collapsed by him, her hands shakily hovering over his pain ridden body.
âLet us proceed Jane.â Janeâs attention moved from Edward was on the ground towards Bella who put on a brave front. After a few moments nothing happened and Bella stayed standing.
A cackling laugh and a hand clap breaks the eerie silence as we all looked at an amused Aro. "Remarkable. She confounds us all. So, what do we do with you now?" He questions thoughtfully.
"You already know what you are going to do.
Aro." The uninterested voice of the third man in the far rights chair spoke up. His face remained devoid of emotions, his hair, skin and eye the same as Aro's yet you could tell they were not related by blood. Marcus.
"She knows too much. Sheâs a liability ."
The blonde manâs voice chimes in from the right of Aro,Caius.
"Hmm, that's true... Felix." Aro says, his voice suddenly laced with pity. Upon the call of his name your shoulder is released . Alec spun Bella around to face Felix, who was now stalking towards her. As he neared her Edward flips her over his shoulder and he launches himself at Felix. The two are a whirlwind of flying limbs each of them holding their own against the other. You take a few step backs to avoid the fight when it nears you. There is a moment where Edward is able to push Felix away. In less than a second Edward is holding you in a headlock his arm pressing against your neck tightly.
âMove an inch closer and Iâll take her head off.â
Anger hot and red suddenly burns through Felix as he fixes a furious glare on Edward. A growl escapes his throat as he sees Edward tighten his grip. Your hands fly to the arm that Edward has on your throat and you claw at the arm trying to yank it off. You look at Alice for help but she just looks away. Edward tightens his grip more causing small cracks to form on your neck as he snarls at Felix. The ground beneath your feet begins to crack as spiked vines begin to shoot out the floor. They wrap around Edward tightly as more vines begin to shoot out of the floor. As the vines restrain Edward Felix yanks you out of Edwards arms and shoves you at Demetri who easily catches you. Felix grabs Edward by his shoulders before slamming down on the marble floor. A smirk forming on his face when a crack resonates through the throne room.
He pulls Edward back up before laying into him. And before long Felixâs hands are on either side of Edwardâs face ready to decapitate him at Aroâs order.
âKill me not him. Kill me.â Bella cries out as she moves forward. Aro holds up his hand to stop Felix, and he yanks Edward up keeping one hand on his throat.
âHow extraordinary. You would give up your life for someone like us. A vampire. A soulless monster.â Aro comments as he steps closer to Bella.
âJust stay away from her.â Edward hisses which cause Felix to tighten his grip with a snarl. Looking in the direction of where you stood with Demetri catching sight of the crack along your neck. And his grip tightens more giving Edward matching cracks along his neck.
âYou donât know a thing about his soul.â Bella says with a wave of confidence to Aro through gritted teeth.
Aro then muttered some more Italian before saying to Edward. âThis is a sadness. If only it was your intention to give her immortalityâ
Suddenly the room room is filled with an ominous atmosphere settled among them as Aro stalks towards Bella. Right before he could strike Alice called out.
âWait Bella will be one of us. Iâve seen it. Iâll change her myself.â Alice approached Aro and placed her hand in his outstretched one. The second he takes her hand heâs drawn into a vision.
"Mesmerising. To see what you have seen.
Before it happened..." Aro says to Alice before approaching Bella and mutters about how excited he is to see what her newborn abilities will reveal.
"Go now. Make your preparations." Aro says signalling Felix to let Edward go. You move from Demetriâs side and go towards where the two Cullens stood.
âAro.â The voice of Marcus rings out. Aro turns to his brother and races over to grab the outstretched hand.
âExcept for our other vampire friend. They will be staying here.â His words stop you in your tracks and you turn towards them.
âPardon me sir but why canât I leave with da rest. I donât believe I broke any laws other than being here.â You finally speak, your thick cajun accent filling the room.
âBecause my dear you are the mate of our dear Felix.â Aro says as he gestures towards the executioner. And with those words everything begins to dawn on you. Alice begging you to come, her looks with Edward in the elevator, and Edward threatening to take your head off. You whirl around to where the two Cullens stood with Bella.
âYa knew. Datâs why ya brought me. Ya knew what waâ gonna happen.â You snarl out in anger.
âDatâs also why you tried to kill me. Iâm the sacrifice. Yaâll were gonna use me to save ya human pet because Iâm da mate of one the guards.â As your anger begins to rise vines begin to creep up the pillars of the room.
âIt was a back up plan-â Edward begins but you let out a snarl and launch yourself at him. Before you make contact with Edward an arm is wrapped around your middle, and yanked backwards. You feel your back hit a hard body before a voice is heard.
âCalma il mio piccolo fiore.â
"Let's be done with this. Heidi will arrive any moment. Thank you for your visit." The apathetic voice of Marcus rings out.
"You'll return the favour and I'd advise you'd get it done quick. The Volturi don't offer second chances." Caius says watching as the three of them begin to follow Demetri out. And youâre kept against Felixâs chest as your anger slowly disappears along with the vines.
âMy âpolgies didnât mean to lose control like dat.â You say as the vines completely disappear. Aro then suddenly appears before you as Felix keeps his hold on you.
âWould you do me the honor my dear.â He says as he holds his hand out and you put yours in his. Your entire life and thoughts flash through your mind as Aro looks at them.
âNo need to apologize my dear I can see why you reacted the way you did. You stayed alone and isolated for so long. The only contact you had was when Carlisle passed through your home. And then Alice came to you for help only for them to betray you. And your gift will be a wonderful addition to us my dear.â
And those words sealed your fate. You were given a place among the Volturi and properly trained. Youâve been at the castle for a few months now, and your bond with Felix grew. Along with the growing friendship with Demetri and surprisingly the twins. The two looked up to you like an older sibling, so when the four were sent on a mission to Seattle you were lonely. You spent most of your free time in the garden, this is where you grew close with Marcus. He liked to take strolls through the gardens to see the flowers that his wife had once planted. Before you arrived the flowers withered away not long after they bloomed, and the garden would grow dull. The gardens had became your favorite place in the castle, and with your gift the gardens were restored to their former glory. The flowers that Didyme had planted flourishing once more, and Marcus was eternally grateful to you. The older vampire quickly became a father figure to you,so when he had the time he would keep you company within the gardens. Sometimes taking strolls with you or just reading a book.
Today was one of the days where you were completely alone in the gardens. The Elite Guard were expected to return that day so you decided to kill some time in the garden until Felix had returned. Your hands were planted in the grass as a new flower bush was growing in front of you, beautiful white roses beginning to bloom. A smile was on your face as the garden around you flourished, and it was a beautiful sight to Felix.
He had finally made it back from America, and you were the first thing on his mind. Of course he had to stop with the rest and give the kings their report. The Cullens had stopped the newborns, and Bella was still human. That information displeased Caius, but they were dismissed before Caius could explode in anger. Once he was dismissed he made a beeline to the gardens already knowing thats where youâd be. And a smile worked its way onto the executionerâs face at the sight of you.
âil mio piccolo fioreâ He says as he steps into the gardens. At the sound of his voice your head snaps up and your smile grows.
âMon Amour.â You say as you run into his open arms. You both let out a laugh as he lifts you and spins. You may have been angry at Alice in the beginning for lying to you. In that moment you were nothing but happy, going from a lonely vampire in the bayou to being cherished for eternity.

Y/N's pov
The screen had become a permanent fixture in Y/N's life. Days blurred together as the Games dragged on, filled with blood and rain and death. Her parents no longer tried to pull her away. She trained in the mornings, listless and robotic, but each afternoon and evening, she was back on the couch, eyes locked on the television, heart clenched in constant dread.
Clove had still been alive until two days ago.
Y/N could still hear her own scream echoing in her earsâraw, brokenâas she watched Lucian drive a spear through her best friendâs chest. Clove had fought like hell, refusing to go down, even after he severed her arm. She had taken his hand in the fight, cut it clean off in one brutal strike, her last act of defiance.
Y/N had collapsed to the floor, sobbing, her fists slamming against the wooden panels of her living room.
Clove was gone.
Clove, her best friend, her sister in everything but blood.
She was gone, and all that remained in the arena were two boysâboth from the Career alliance that had ruled the Games like gods among mortals. Cato from District 2. Lucian from District 1.
Selene had died the same day as Clove.
Y/N had watched in numb silence as Cato finally turned on the girl who had flirted with him so shamelessly. It was brutalâCato had lured her in with the same smile, the same charm she had used on him. Then, when she had let her guard down, he struck.
No hesitation.
A sword through the chest.
Y/N didnât know if it was revenge for Clove or just a final shedding of the act. Either way, Selene died staring at Cato with confusion, her hands clutching his shirt as she fell.
And now, only two remained.
Lucian, bloodied, one hand missing, barely able to hold his blade.
Cato, wounded at the thigh and side, soaked in rain and blood, breathing hard, but alive.
Y/N sat forward on the couch, her heart in her throat, barely able to breathe.
"Here we are, folks!" Caesar Flickerman's voice boomed through the speakers. "The final showdown of the 72nd Hunger Games! District 1 versus District 2. Two of the fiercest warriors we've seen in years!"
Claudius chimed in, voice reverent. "Cato looks like a stormâcalculated, deadly. But Lucian? Heâs not going down easy. That boyâs rage is burning hot. This could end in any direction."
Y/N didnât blink.
The arenaâonce a city, now reduced to broken buildings overtaken by natureâwas a battlefield. Rubble and ash littered the streets. Rain fell in slow, steady sheets, soaking through Catoâs dark clothes as he stalked forward. Lucian stood across from him, breathing hard, swaying slightly. His face was pale from blood loss, his severed arm wrapped tightly in what remained of his shirt.
They didnât speak.
They just charged.
Catoâs sword met Lucianâs in a violent clash of steel. Lucianâs eyes were wild with fury, his movements sharp despite his injury. But he was slower now, weaker. Catoâs injuries were severe, but his stance remained firm. He fought like someone with something left to lose.
The sound of blades rang through the Capitol broadcast. Y/Nâs nails dug into the armrest of the couch.
Lucian landed a shallow cut on Catoâs shoulder. Cato roared in pain and slammed the hilt of his sword into Lucianâs face, breaking his nose. Blood poured from both of them. It was vicious, relentless.
Lucian screamed, charging with a final burst of strength. But Cato ducked, pivoted, and in one brutal, final swing, drove his blade through Lucianâs gut.
Time stopped.
Lucian gasped. His sword clattered to the ground.
Cato didnât let go. He twisted the blade once before pulling it free, stepping back as Lucian fell to his knees, and then face first into the mud.
Silence.
Then the arena erupted into the sound of trumpets and cannon fire.
"AND WE HAVE OUR VICTOR!" Caesarâs voice roared, overwhelmed with joy. "CATO OF DISTRICT 2 HAS WON THE 72ND HUNGER GAMES!"
Y/N sat frozen, tears streaming silently down her cheeks.
Cato stood over Lucianâs corpse, his sword shaking in his grip, his eyes distant and hollow. The rain soaked him, blood pooling around his boots. His chest heaved, but he didnât move.
He didnât celebrate.
He just stood there.
And on the screen, the Capitol crowd went wild, chanting his name. A name Y/N had whispered in the dark. A name she had screamed into her pillow. A name she had cried for when he walked into that arena.
Cato.
Victor.
But Y/N couldnât feel victory.
She felt like something inside her had shattered beyond repair.
Cato's POV
The pain was gone.
At least, the physical kind.
Capitol medicine had seen to that in less than twenty-four hours. The torn flesh in his thigh, the deep slice at his ribs, the cracked bone in his shoulderâall healed. He stood in front of the mirror in the lavish victor suite, dressed in an impeccably tailored black suit that fit him like it had been sculpted directly onto his body. His hair was neat, face clean. Too clean. Too untouched for someone who had just bathed in blood and rain and death.
He didnât recognize himself.
Behind him, Brutus leaned against the dresser with crossed arms, sharp eyes tracking him in the mirror.
âYou remember what I said?â Brutus asked, voice calm but edged with steel.
Cato nodded, jaw clenched.
âNo mercy. No empathy. You won because you're the strongest. Own it. You show them anything softâregret, pain, heartâand they'll smell it on you. And then theyâll use you.â
Cato turned slightly. âTheyâll sell me.â
Brutus didnât look away. âIf they think youâre pliable, if they see someone the citizens will want to touch, they'll put you up for auction. Maybe not right away. Maybe theyâll call it charity, or a celebration tour. But itâll happen.â
Catoâs chest felt like it was caught in a vice.
âAnd if I act like a monster?â he asked.
Brutusâs lips curled in a grim smile. âThen theyâll fear you. And no one wants to touch a monster.â
Cato looked back at his reflection. The boy staring back wasnât seventeen. He wasnât even human anymore. He looked like a weapon carved out of victory and vengeance.
âGot it,â he said quietly.
Brutus stepped forward, placed a heavy hand on his shoulder. âGood. Donât flinch. Donât smile. And whatever you do, donât look sorry.â
The prep team appeared minutes later, dousing him in expensive cologne, smoothing out every crease, brushing invisible specks from his jacket. Then it was time.
He walked the gleaming halls of the Capitol studio with silent footsteps, cameras already catching his entrance. The roar of the crowd from inside the studio was deafening. They chanted his nameâCato, Cato, Catoâas though he were a god.
As though he hadnât just killed 23 other kids to be standing there.
Y/N's POV
Y/N couldnât sit still.
She stood with her arms wrapped tightly around herself, just in front of the television in their living room. Her parents sat on the couch, silent, the air around them thick with tension. The moment Caesar Flickerman appeared on screen, dressed in a shimmering emerald suit, her stomach twisted.
âAnd now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment youâve all been waiting forâplease welcome, the victor of the 72nd Hunger GamesâCATO!â
The audience screamed. Lights burst across the screen. Cato walked out onto the stage like he owned it.
And in a way, he did.
He was beautiful in a way that made Y/Nâs heart ache. But something was wrong.
His eyes.
They were empty.
No smile curled at his lips. No trace of the boy she had trained with, laughed with, spent the night with just days before the Reaping. He sat beside Caesar like a lion among sheepâcold, composed, calculating.
âCato!â Caesar beamed. âYouâve had quite the journey! The highest score in training, you dominated the Careers, and nowâyouâre our champion! Tell us, how does it feel to be the victor of the 72nd Hunger Games?â
A long pause. Cato tilted his head slightly.
âExpected,â he said flatly.
The crowd laughed nervously. Caesar chuckled, brushing it off.
âWell, modesty certainly isnât part of the package, is it?â Caesar joked. âTell meâwas there any moment in the Games where you thought, âthis might be itâ? Any moment where you were afraid?â
Cato leaned forward, one elbow on his knee.
âNo.â
Caesar blinked. âNo?â
âIâm from District 2. We train our whole lives for this. The moment I stepped into that arena, the only thing I saw was victory.â
Y/Nâs breath caught. This wasnât him. It couldnât be.
âI killed because thatâs what I was there to do,â Cato continued. âAnd if I had to do it again, Iâd make the same choices. I didnât come to make friends. I came to win.â
Gasps and murmurs from the audience.
Y/Nâs hands trembled. Her nails dug into her palms.
âEven with Clove?â Caesar asked gently. âShe was from your district. She was your cousin and your ally.â
Catoâs face didnât change. âAllies are temporary. I didnât kill her, but if it had come to that, I wouldâve.â
Y/Nâs knees gave a little. She sat down on the floor without meaning to.
âAnd tell me this,â Caesar continued, voice more serious now. âWas there someone back home? Anyone special who you fought for?â
Cato hesitated.
Y/N leaned in.
His jaw tensed. Then he looked into the camera, eyes hard as granite.
âNo.â
Laughter from some of the crowd. Others murmured.
But Y/N⌠she saw it. The flicker. The shift in his eyes.
He was lying.
He was lying, and it hurt him to say it. She could see it in the way he blinked a little too long, the way his hand twitched slightly on his knee.
He was protecting her.
Her heart ached in her chest, torn between pride and grief.
Caesar wrapped up the interview with charm and grandeur, ending it with: âCato of District 2, the Victor of the 72nd Hunger Games, ladies and gentlemen!â
Applause thundered. Lights blazed.
Y/N sat in the dark of her living room, tears slipping silently down her cheeks.
He was alive.
But he wasnât Cato anymore.

The cave was quiet, the only sound being the waves hitting the rocks outside. All of the inhabitants of the cave peacefully sleeping, well almost all of them. Something instinctual, deep in your gut and the back of your mind is telling you somethings not right. Slipping through the dark fog in the faint chime of hushed whispers. Voices exchanging softly, all dim and low like they were sharing secrets.
It has you pushing your face deeper into Davidâs neck in an attempt to muffle out the sounds, desperate to escape fully back into the comfort of a deep sleep.
You usually slept in a bed that wasnât far from where the boys slept, while Star and Laddie slept in the more open part of the cave. Something in your mind told you to sleep with the boys, so you listened to it.
When you arrived back at the cave after feeding, you were brought to where they slept. There was a little arguing over who you slept with, but something was telling you to sleep with David. So you stopped them from arguing, and they all climbed up to the bar they hang from. Dwanye stayed on the ground with you, so you had help getting to David. Once David is settled he opens his arms for you, and with a kiss to your head Dwanye helps you wrap yourself around David. Once youâre settled David wrapped his arms around your waist, letting you tuck yourself into his hold.
Itâs still daytime. Something deep in your gut and the back of your mind assures that the sun is still high up in the sky, scorching and hot. An intuition that you still don't quite understand, but it has your limbs turning heavy and lax, muscles relaxing in Davidâs hold Your exhaustion has you numb to the world, the delicate rhythm of the waves crashing outside the cave muting down into nothing, the sound of the quiet voices vanishing. It must be two of the boys. Awake already. It would strike you as odd on any other circumstance, and to a degree it does, but your sluggish brain is quick to let go of that train of thought.
The insistence that something is wrong fading into an ignorable afterthought. The scuffle of shoes along dust and stone ignites a tremble down the notches of your spine, as though your body is begging for you to wake up and investigate while it simultaneously sinks further into Davidâs tight hold.
Something isn't right, something isn't right.
It's like a chant. A primal whisper that coils through your bones and sinew. Leftovers from your ancestors, remnants of the instincts that had kept them alive long ago, but it all seems null and void against the fatigue that seems to press you down like a physical weight. Even while hidden away from the sun it seems to sap you of all your strength.
It's impossible to even try to rouse yourself. Its as though you're held under water. The strength of that debilitating exhaustion sweeps back over you, making the sound of the angry, masculine voice that rises up high within the cave, reverberating from the dust covered stone, dim and distant. As though it's miles away.
âI feel a draft. I think thereâs something up here.â You hear from far-away, murky and vague.
âLetâs check it out Sam.â Another voice.
âIâll be right back Mike.â A third voice. Mike. Mike. That sounds familiar from somewhere - someone. A name mentioned in passing. Mike. Michael. A discussion carried on by the boys while they were all encircled around one of the burn barrels one night. So casual while they considered the fate of a complete stranger as though they were discussing dinner and not the destiny of a man's soul. Some sap that had apparently caught the eye of Star. She hadn't wanted it to go far, but then again, it's never supposed to go that far. But David wanted the guy dead. He was meant to be her first, she hadn't been able to do it.Â
A wave of muddled scents breaks past the barrier of the rotting wood. Unfamiliar and thick, coated with cologne and shampoo that you don't recognize. All of it twisting with something even more out of place here. Something alive. Heat and life and blood. Iron, warmth, and salt. It's distinctly human. Living. The alarms go off in your head. Raging and flashing red in a way that's violent. And a bright light flashes behind your eyelids.
âJESUS.â One of the voices yells, another one screams before being cut off. Your eyes blink, lashes fluttering as you try to fight the sleep weighing your lids down. Your vision blurs a little, straining through the exhaustion, but then you notice the three figures standing below. They're children. Looking lost, dressed in camo and gear as though they've prepared to fight a war. One has his hand wrapped around the mouth of the blonde child muffling his scream. Wide blue eyes reflecting a visible panic while he stumbles back away from the other two. Another swears, cursing sharply under his breath while he flinches. But it's the one closest to you that moves. His dog tags glinting and chiming from a movement so sharp that it had to be a reflex, but the determination burning in his eyes is purposeful.Â
âI thought they were supposed to be in coffins.â
âThatâs what this cave is. One giant coffin.â The one with the bandanna says as he moved with the other one dressed in camo. They begin to climb up the wood beside your group.
âTheyâre at their most vulnerable. Easy pickings.â
âYou just have to kill the leader huh.â
âWe donât know which on he is. Weâll kill them all.â
âWeâll start with her. Sheâs already seen us.â They say as the climb closer to where youâre hanging with David. An animal kind of panic tears through you, lighting up your nerves like lives wires, electricity and adrenaline burning through your veins with the white heat of fire. You try to move and wake up David, but your limbs struggle, sleep thawing in your tired arms and legs.
"Kill her, kill her!" One shouts all while the blonde in the background yells at them to stop, but it falls on deaf ears. The boy wielding the stake lunges forward with a war cry. You manage to wiggle slightly in Davidâs hold.
âDavid wake up!â A panicked shout rips from your throat, but David remains sleeping.
"The bitch is trying to wake them, you gotta get her before they wake up," someone shouts in a panicked rush. You continue to squirm in Davidâs hold trying to get the two of you away from the teenagers. Poised in the air, high above the boy's head in an arch. There's hardly any time to act and fear sinks in your gut, chilled and frozen as he drives it down with all the strength he has in his body; his lips curled in a hateful snarl. He's going to kill you. This is it. This is how you die. Your mind screams it over and over again on a broken loop, but your body acts all on its own. It twists so Davidâs unconscious body turns away from the stake, and your heart is away from the point.
There's no time to rejoice when the stake is already piercing your skin. It sinks in deep, parting flesh and muscle beneath its lethal point. The boy collapses and tips over the side of the ledge that they were standing on. You don't initially realize that you're screaming. You feel it first. The strength of your agonized wail shreds up your throat as though you've swallowed nails, but that pain is secondary to the fire and anguish pulsing through your shoulder. The stake is still wedged inside of your back, burrowing past skin and meat, prying at your shoulder blade like it means to rip it free from the sinew keeping it intact with the other bones. You're bleeding. You can smell it, sharp and distinct in the panicked air. The pain is crippling. Ripping and engulfing, eating up your spine.
The boy with the blue bandana wrapped around his head is stepping forward, already clasping a stake in a white-knuckled hold. The resolve in his eyes is haunting. The desire to kill you fervent and glaring in his stare. That's all it takes to have your voice spilling from you, rising up in another terrified shout.
âBOYS WAKE UP!â
"Say your prayers bloodsucker." He practically spits it out, lips twisting in a grimace as he moves forward preparing to stake you again. And then combined hissing and snarling fills the pit as the boys awaken. They finally awoke to your shouts and the smell of your blood. Four sets of yellow eyes focus in on the three humans in front of them as snarls fill the air.
"Guys, guys, we gotta go." It's the blonde that's repeating it over and over as he sees the vampires awaks, stumbling over his words while he jerks on the other's arms. They give in without any resistance. Fear alive and bright in their eyes, even while the kid with the bandana points his stake in your direction and tosses a quick "This isn't over" at you as the three of them take off in a brisk jumble in the direction that they came from.
The growls from within the cavern raise up higher as the boys realize what happened and it has the kids in a full-blown panic. Tripping over their feet in an ungraceful run as they try and reach the opening of the cave. Your body trembles and your head rolls forward onto the snarling Davidâs chest.
âYOUâRE DEAD MEAT.â
You can feel your lung snag and pinch as though it's being burned from the inside out, catching on the point of the stake when you inhale. It has you crying, a tear managing to trickle free as your ribcage shudders violently as you gasp.Â
You don't want to take your eyes off of them, desperate to track their panicked flee, but your eyes cloud over. Stars dot your vision, spotting and flickering in shifting colors as a vignette blurs around the corners of your sight. You feel the world spin as David jumps down from the bar and lands on his feet. You still cradled against his chest. Three more thumps follow as the rest of the boys land behind. Iron coats your tongue. Thick and wet. Bursting up from the back of your throat while you try to breathe, spitting up with each labored inhale. You can feel your life waning. The strength diminishing, shrinking under your skin. Dying out like a flame that's being smothered. Whimpers spill from your lips as your carefully laid on your bed. You can hear the sound of claws ripping across the earth as two of the vampires tear their way out of the chasm like creatures pouring out of hell.
You hear muffled screams and shouts. The dull thud of hysterical footsteps as they rush to escape before death can seize them. You hear David's bellow roll throughout the cave, crashing over the screams from the horrified children. The loud chaos of it all grows dim - distant as they're no doubt running up the mouth of the cave while Paul's laugh rings out from somewhere far away.Â
It makes you jump when a pair of hands smooth over your shoulders, light like a caress, but you can still feel a heavy tremble run through the fingers. A voice hums out, cooing softly to hush you when a strangled sob wrangles out from your body. The way they handle you is delicate, softly turning you over onto your hip and lifting you up to cradle you against their chest as though you might shatter into a million pieces otherwise. Breathing past the wet iron to try and notice the traces of spice and earth and musk.Â
It was Dwanye. You try to say his name, but your throat tightens, choking on blood. You can feel his fingers grip your bicep, holding you still and you know that he's looking at the stake punctured deep in your flesh. His hold is nowhere close to the to the wound and yet it flares pain across your nerves, making you twist in his arms while a gutted sob wracks from your body.Â
"I know, I know, love. I know, but I have to take it out" he says into your hair. It's difficult to hear his voice past the roaring in your ears, but once the words make it past the hum. It's like you can feel the agony already, simmering and slicing across your fried nerves like the edge of razor blades.
âMarko! Iâm gonna need your help. â He calls and you can hear another person coming. And then a gloved hand is cradling your face. The glove was cold against your skin as the hand tilts your head back from where it was tucked against Dwayneâs shoulder. It makes your lashes flutter, and you have to force yourself to keep your eyes open with how heavy they've grown, weighing heavy and threatening to slip closed.
âIf we donât remove it. Youâll die baby.â Marko says. There's a protest lodged somewhere in your mouth, slick from the blood and caught on a broken gasp, but you don't have time try and voice it.
âIâm gonna hold her still you pull it out.â Dwanye says as his grip around you tightens. Marko nods, gripping the stake in his hand and pulls. You want to scream, but there's no air left in your lungs for you to do so, and all that makes it out is a ragged, splintered gasp.Â
Scorching hot pain pours in your veins as he rips the wood from your shoulder. It slices ribbons up your spine, feeling bone deep and white-hot, acid lashing up your muscles. You thrash in Dwayneâs lap, the grip around you tightening and pinning you against his chest. Marko continues to pull the stake from your shoulder, and thereâs hardly any relief once its out. The damage it's done is still agonizing, coiling through your muscles. It's as though the flesh on your back has been flayed.
You can faintly hear the clatter of the stake hitting the stone walls. As the two fuss over you, David and Paul rush back into the area where your bed is.
âHow is she?â There's a rawness to his voice, a breathless edge despite the non-necessity of breathing.
âShe needs to feed.â Dwanye says. âShe wonât make it to sundown.â
David stalks forward while dragging his nail across his wrist. He kneels beside your bed and presses his wrist against your lips. You clasp your fingers around his arm, digging into the aged leather of his jacket. Your teeth bury themselves into his arm as his blood pours down your throat. You feel a hand stroking your head as you feed on his blood. Life floods back into you with each gulp, syrupy and warm. The hole made in the split meat and torn flesh of your back begins to mend in a sluggish process, stunted. Youâre cradled protectively between Dwayne and David as Paul and Marko hover around the two.
Paul leans over and presses a soft kiss to your forehead.
"Did you get them?"Â Dwayne asks.
The thick silence that follows gives Marko and Dwayne their answer. And twin snarls rip out of their throats.
âTheyâre dead.â
âAnd they will be. They will be.â David says with a snarl.
âMarko when nightfall hits I want you and Dwayne to go hunt. Sheâll need an actual feeding and weâll need our full strength.â David says as he continues to stroke your hair, letting you have your fill of his blood. He wanted to make sure your wound was healed.
âPaul youâll be staying here with her while we go take care of the little pests.â Paul nods as he sits on the edge of your bed by your head.
âTheyâll regret touching our mate.â They all say as your wound completely healed and you pulled away from Davidâs wrist sagging against Dwayne as exhaustion took over. The boys continued to plan their attack as you fell into a deep sleep.
i had max & yuki duo for a week, but if anything happens to them i will fight.

You were thrown into the dank brig of a marine vessel, the force of the action enough to send you falling to the ground, your bound hands barking in pain as you tried to keep yourself upright. A small huff in the corner of the cell has you turning your head. When you turn you come face to face with your dragon, Eryx. You shuffle closer to him taking note of the muzzle on his face and the ropes binding his wings.
The two marines who had been commanded to bring you down here spat filthy insults your way. Insults you should have brushed off and forgotten about, but you have never been good at taking such things. Had always let them get under your skin--get you angry and upset. And seeing the sight of your dragon bound up like this only added more fuel.
Snapping your head around, teeth bared in a nasty snarl, you watched the door slam shut behind you.
âYou fucking spoon-fed idiots!â You hissed up at the two marines who had been ready to leave before you had spoken. âYou have some nerve doing this to m--â The taller one slammed his fist against the bars of your prison, causing a loud bang to ring through the metal walls.Â
You hardly flinched. Hardly bat an eye. A low growl is heard from Eryx as he brings his tail in front of your body.Youâd dealt with some of the most terrifying big bads the East Blue had to offer. Big bads who thrived off chaos and ate babies for breakfast. These two goody-two-shoes marines would never in their wildest dreams live up to those creatures. Never utterly terrify you.Â
âWe know everything about you. We know of your failed run as a bounty hunter with this monster. We know you killed a respected and loved member of our community--you are a criminal. Nothing but a no-good pirate. And your dragon will be so helpful for the world government.â He shot down at you in an air of superiority. Like you were nothing but the dirt under his shoes.Â
A criminal. A no-good pirate. And threatening your dragon. Those few words were worse than any insult one could possibly conjure and spit at you. Worse than physically getting slapped in the face.Â
You were by no means a good person, but a criminal--you were far from being a criminal. Not in the same sense as those youâd hunted down. Those who had done true evil in this world. Who had hurt innocent people--children. Criminals like their respected and loved community members. A, now-dead, marine commodore. A commodore who had gone too far in life without getting punished for his crimes.Â
Crimes you punished him for. And wanting to use your dragon to commit more crimes on innocents just boiled your blood.
Too bad they took away your swords and daggers or else you wouldâve cut them down. The two marines keep taunting you, when suddenly an explosion is heard and you are thrown to the side. Before you can make impact with the wall Eryxâs tail is stopping the impact.
âThanks boy.â You mutter as you pat his tail. The two marines quickly shake their shock off and take off towards the stairs. The sound of fighting and crazed laughter can be heard from your cell as you start to pry the muzzle off of Eryx.
âJust a little more and yes it came off.â After a bit more prying the muzzle finally breaks and it falls to the floor with a thump.
âAlright boy letâs blow this popsicle stand.â
You hold out your shackled hands and Eryx snaps them with his teeth.Once your hands are free you move and free his wings. Eryx blasts the cell open and you take off towards the stairs with him right behind you. You squint your eyes as they are assaulted with sunlight. When your eyes have adjusted you see a bunch of pirates engaged with the marines. You hold your finger up to your lips as you look at Eryx and then you quietly slip towards the crate where your weapons are. Good thing they threw them in there when you were still within sight. After prying the box open you quickly strap your sword to your back and your daggers to your thigh.
You creep back to Eryx and climb up on his back. Eryx gets ready to take off when suddenly you are being knocked off his back by a pirate with long dark hair that had alternating green stripes along one side of his hair. You couldnât see the lower half of the man's face as it was covered by a large checkered scarf. You both land on the deck with a thump. Following that pirate is a marine with his sword drawn, the pirate is still sprawled out on the deck so you quickly draw your sword and deflect the on coming one. A small grunt leaves your lips as you push the marine back. The sound of the two swords clashing echo through the air as you continue to push the marine back. The pirate that crashed into you was now back on his feet and fighting another marine. A soft whistle leaves your mouth and Eryxâs tail swings from behind the marine. His tail makes contact with the marine and sends them flying into the wall.
âGood boy Eryx.â You sheath your sword once again and quickly climb back on his back. You give out another whistle and Eryx takes off from the deck. He circles above the ship as you look around the deck, looking for the pirate captain. Your eyes zero in on a pirate that dons a striped white and red shirt with, white gloves, a sash around his waist like many other pirates, and a pair of loose pants reaching to his calves, just above a pair of striped socks and pointy shoes. He also has a scarf around his neck. Hanging from his shoulders there is an orange, fur-lined captain's coat. On his head he has an orange hat with his jolly roger on it, over a neckerchief with the same pattern of his shirt.
âthat must be the captainâ you think to yourself as you lower Eryx down.
âOi pirate captain.â You yell out as Eryx continues to circle. Buggy looks up from his spot when he hears a female voice yell at him. His eyes zero in on the massive dragon above him and then he notices the head poking out from the side.
âIf you donât want you or your crew at the bottom of the see leave the ship.â You yell out as you nudge Eryxâs side. He dives closer to the ship as you notice the pirate crew making their way back go the ship. Once all of them have made it you let out a sharp whistle. Eryx hears the whistle and opens his mouth, his saliva trails out over the deck as the marines scramble around the ship. He circles again and he lights the saliva he left. Once the sparks make contact the deck goes up in flames. Another sharp whistle leaves your mouth and he turns his body completely flying on his side you reach for one of your daggers and pull it out of the sheath. You pull the end of the dagger off revealing a secret compartment full of gun powder. With one tilt of the dagger the gun powder is landing on the deck and an explosion follows as Eryx straightens back up. The air is then pierced with laughter as you circle above the ship watching the marines flounder in the water.
Buggy stands on the deck of his ship looking at the dragon above him. The dragon was a woody-brown color , with a cream underbelly, and blue highlights with bright lilac and white hints on wings and underbelly. The dragon had two pairs of wings, three tail fins, head frills, and what looked like a smashed face. His eyes then go to the rider they had (h/l) (h/c). They were covered in what looked like scaled armor and had a sword strapped to their back.
âGET THEM ON THIS SHIP. I WANT THEM ON THIS CREW.â He yells out and the crew scrambles to get the dragon rider on the ship.
You continue to circle above the ships when you hear yelling from below you and you look towards the pirate ship. You saw a brightly colored ship, which imitates a circus feel. It has many circus tent designs on it. Its figurehead is an elephant with the trunk as a cannon. You notice the crew of the ship readying ropes and look at them in confusion before it dawns on you. They wanted to capture you, but you werenât gonna let them harm Eryx after what the marines did.
âCome on boy letâs go see what these pirates want.â You nudge his side and he dives towards the brightly colored ship. The crew sees the dragon getting closer and they stop running around as the watch you get closer.
Eryx lands on the deck with a heavy thump and you stay seated on your saddle as the crew parts to let Buggy through. And man was this captain handsome up close. The first thing you noticed wasnât the red nose on his face, it was the beautiful sea colored eyes. He had two blue triangles above his eyes, and above those were two bones crossing into an X on his forehead. His red lipstick was painted into a big smile on his face.
âWell well hello there Little Rider. What you did was pretty flashy.â
You cross your arms across your chest as he circles around Eryx.
âWhat do you want pirate captain. I saw your crew preparing to capture us.â
A laugh escapes his lips as he stops infront of Eryx.
âStraight to the point Little Rider. What I want is you on my crew.â
âYeahhhh no hard pass.â
âCome on Little Rider. Join my group of freaks we donât bite.â A menacing smile makes it away across his face. âWell not hard anyway.â
âIâm not interested. Iâm a dragon rider not a pirate.â
âBut arenât ya tired of the pesky marines hunting you down. That little stunt you pulled along with killing their commodore will make you a pirate in their eyes. Hell youâre gonna get a bounty now.â
Your eyes widen slightly at this information as it fully dawns on you. Your own actions will make you become a pirate to the government. And with Eryx many people will be coming after your head.
âSo join my group of freaks Little Rider.â
And that is how you became apart of the Buggy pirates. And true to what Buggy said a few days after you joined you got your first ever bounty. The News Coo delivered the paper during breakfast. The wanted posters already being looked at and cheers follow shortly at the increase of Buggyâs bounty. You were in the middle of feeding Eryx a bucket of fish when a detached hand floated in front of you with a brown piece of paper. You take the paper from the hand and look back to where Buggy was lounging on his chair at the head of the table. You look back towards the paper and your eyes widen when you realize itâs your bounty poster.
âWantedâ
The Dragon Queen
Dead or Alive
30,000,000
And the picture was from the day you met the Buggy pirates. It captured the moment you were on Eryxâs back head tilted back in laughter as the marine ship burned below you.
The poster is taken out of your hand as Buggy stands in front of you.
âWell my freaks our Little Rider has her first bounty.â He yells out as he holds the poster in his hand. All of the crew cheers as you look up at your captain.
A few weeks go by since youâve joined the crew. You werenât apart of the act that Buggy put on. Instead he sent you out on missions to gather information, or to find treasure maps. And when you were on the ship you were kept by his side along with Eryx who has befriended Mohjiâs lion Richie. And youâve also befriended the pirate that crashed into you that day. His name was Cabaji, he was the swordsman of the crew. When you werenât with Buggy or on a mission you were with Cabaji practicing sword fighting or you were knife throwing. Youâve also became great friends with Alvida, you even make her hair accessories with Eryxâs scales. She saw you working on your armor one day and was curious if the dragon scales could make jewelry.
And currently you are on the deck of the ship working on some new armor with Eryxâs shedded scales as Buggy,Mohji, and Cabaji look for treasure on the island. Itâs not long before Buggy comes back empty handed and angry. You donât catch what heâs saying but you do hear Alvida when she speaks up from her couch.
âItâs no time to horse around you guys. If you canât find out where Luffy is, how exactly are you planning to beat him.â
âAh so itâs about Luffyâ You think to yourself already knowing about Buggyâs weird obsession with the Strawhat. You see Buggy lift a hand and wave her off.
âDonât be so uptight Alvida. Nothingâs wrong with having fun for now. Right.â You shake your head with a smile on your face as Buggy laughs. You put on the last few scales of your armor when you hear a familiar voice and you lift your head up.
âLuffy you say? If you wanna see Luffy Iâll tell you where he is.â
âSee. Heâll tell us Luffyâs whereabouts.â Buggy says with his usual smile on his face. That smiles falls off his face when he realizes that it wasnât one of his crew who said it.
âWho the hell are you?!â You turn your head to where Buggy is looking already having an idea of who it is. A tall muscular young man with curly black hair and a tattoo on his back purple bones formed in a cross behind a purple skull with a white mustache the symbol of the whitebeard pirates. The other tattoo on his upper left bicep that spells "ASCE" vertically. And on top of his head was a signature orange hat. You quickly set your armor down and get up working your way through the crew to get to where Ace was standing.
âOh sorry for interrupting your party. I was brought forth by the quite appetizing smell of food. My name is Ace nice to meet you.â He says with a small bow towards Buggy.
âOh no need to be so formal. Nice to meet you too.â Buggy says with a smile as Ace brings a piece if meat to his mouth and takes a bite. Then Buggyâs smile falls again.
âIâm asking you what youâre doing here!!! I donât care about your name. What a flashy insolent attitude.â
âC-Captain. This guy is⌠Fire Fist.Fire Fist Ace. Heâs the captain of Whitebeardâs second division.â Cabaji says.
âWhitebeard!!â The crew exclaims.
âOh you guys know my boss? Thatâs cool-â Ace begins then he stops as he falls asleep.
âHE FELL ASLEEP!â You continue to push through the crew now with Eryxâs help and you catch Mohji talking to Buggy.
âNo.â
âWhy this is a great opportunity any way you look at it.If we defeat Fire Fist Ace weâll become instantly famous.â
âI SAID NO!!! Listen up guys. Remember this flashily. No matter what happens never mess with the Whitebeard Pirates.WhiteBeard is a legendary monster. Heâs the only one who fought neck and neck with Roger, the King of the Pirates.Heâs now without a doubt the worldâs strongest pirate.Heâs the man closest to the secret treasure, One Piece. And above all Whitebeard never forgives the killing of one of his own.Never. Heâs that kind of man.â
â You sure know an awful lot about him.â
âOf courseâŚLong ago I met him in person here on the Grand Line.â The crew that was gathered around Ace jump back as he sits up.
âSorry about that.â He says with a yawn. You finally push the last crew member out of the way and see Ace.
âACE!!!â You shout as you tackle him in a hug. He letâs out a small oof as you collide with him as the crew and Buggy stare in shock. Once Ace getâs over the surprise of you tackle he smiles.
âLittle Storm! I was wondering where you ended up.â He hugs you back before giving you a smack on the head.
âDo you know how worried Pops was when we havenât heard from you.â
âOw Ace you didnât have to hit me.â You say with a pout as you rub the sore spot. Buggy watches you interact with Ace and he feels an uncomfortable feeling in his chest.
âWHAT THATCH IS DEAD!â The crew all jump in surprise at your shout and they see Ace with a serious look on his face.
âYes. Teach killed him for a devil fruit. Thatâs why Iâm out here. Iâm hunting him.â Ace says as he puts a hand on your shoulder as you look up at him in shock. Eryx senses the change in your emotions and nudges his head against your back gently.
âDonât worry Little Storm Iâm gonna make him pay.â
âI know make sure to beat that son of bitch Ace.â He smiles as he ruffles your hair and then he hands you a piece of paper.
âI will Little Storm. Here take this make sure to keep it safe for me okay.â You nod as you take the piece of paper from him. He stands up from his spot and turns to Buggy.
âSorry for appearing on your ship out of no where. I will be going now, Iâm glad you found a crew Little Storm and I know Pops will be happy to hear it.â He jumps on the rail of the ship, and before he jumps to his glider he looks at Buggy.
âTake care of Little Storm or youâll have to deal with their brothers.â And with one final wave he jumps to his glider and takes off. Once he is out of sight everyone turns to you bombarding you with questions.
âHow do you know Ace?â
âWere you really with the WhiteBeard pirates?â
âWhat did Ace mean by brothers.â
The crew gets closer around you as you try to take a step back from everyone.
âOi shitdiots back it up. Now.â Buggyâs voice carryâs over the crew as he shoves the closest members away from you as he puts himself between the crew and you. Once everyone is far enough to his liking and quiet he turns to you.
âHow do you know Ace and Whitebeard Little Rider.â
âI first met them a few months after Eryx and I left our island in the North Blue.â Eryx pushes his head against your hand and you stroke the spot in between his two horns.
âIt was my first ever run in with the marines. They managed to injure Eryx and we fell into the sea, even with his injury Eryx was able to keep us both afloat after the marines left. They thought we would be taken out by the sea,but we werenât we were stuck in the sea for hours. And with Eryxâs injury at the time he started to get weaker the longer we were there.â
Your hand moves to the scar the marines left by his wing as you tell your story. The crew now sitting around you like little kids.
âLuckily I was on the edge of Whitebeardâs territory and they were sailing past when they spotted me. They pulled us a board their ship and after they treated our wounds. It took a few weeks for Eryxâs wound to heal so we stayed with them. Pops tried to get me to join them once Eryx was healed but I wasnât looking to join a crew so they let me leave. But I became an honorary WhiteBeard pirate and unfortunately gained hundreds of new brothers.â A small smile makes it way onto your face before it disappears remembering what Ace told you.
âI swear when I get my hands on Teach Iâm gonna make him regret being born and Iâm gonna feed him to Eryx.â Eryx letâs out a small growl of agreement as the rest of the crew take a step back from your anger.
âWell Little Rider youâll have plenty of time to plan out what youâll do to that traitor. Weâll make sure of that.â Buggy says with a sinister smile on his face and you mirror it back with your own.
âNow letâs party.â The crew cheers as they bring out more barrels of booze. Buggy throws his arm over you shoulder and he brings you with him to his throne like chair. He releases your shoulder to sit on his throne, and looks at you as he pats his thigh.
âCome on Little Rider you sit with the Captain today.â He says with a small smirk on his and when he sees you hesitating he detaches one of of his hands with a pop. Then suddenly youâre shoved forward and you land in his lap as he hand reconnects.
âAhh there we go.â He brings his arm around your waist knowing that you try to scramble away.
âNow my little rider letâs discuss your next mission.â
That was the last conversation you had with your captain before he was imprisoned. Itâs been about 7 months since youâve seen him. You and Eryx met at the rendezvous point like planned, but you were met with a captainless crew. And then the paper Ace had given you started to burn.
âERYX COME ON BUDDY ACE NEEDS OUR HELP.â You put on your armor as Eryx takes off from the deck and circles to your side of the ship. You take off running across the deck and jump over the railing landing on your saddle then Eryx shoots off from the island.
The sound of metal clashing against metal fills the air. Marines and pirates alike are spread out fighting. And Buggy is seen in a tornado of sand. Two hands grab Buggy and yank him out .
âOh you save-â He starts but is caught off by a blade slicing him.
ââŚJet Human Shield.â Buggyâs upper body turns to Luffy as he grabs him by his vest.
âYOU! Whatâre you doing? Strawhat!â
âWhat Iâm not the one who cut you.Plus you just said âDonât mind me! Iâm here to save you.ââ
âHow deluded is your hearing?â
âGum gum human shield.â Luffy yells as he brings Buggyâs torso in front of him.
âSTOP IT.â Mihawk brings his sword up again and slices Buggy into shreads.
âI CANâT TAKE IT! You must be âHawk-eyeââ Buggy says as he puts himself back together. His foot shoots out a red ball and it heads towards Mihawk.
âThe special Muggy Ball! Blow away.â Mihawk brings his sword in front of him and hits the ball back at Buggy. An explosion happens and Luffy uses this moment to run towards where Ace is. The battlefield stills as the two guards by Ace get ready to bring their swords down.
âACE!!!!!â Is heard from everyone around the battle field. Before the blades make contact with Aceâs neck the guards are blasted away by sand. Sengoku turns back to the battlefield looking to see who took our his guards.
âWho did this!?â In the center of hundreds of marine soldiers stands Crocodile. His jacket flowing behind him in the wind as the soldiers raise their weapons towards him.
âYou bastard! I thought it was to our advantage to have you since you hold a grudge against Whitebeard.Crocodile!â
âI can kill that old, dying buzzard later. But before that I donât want to let you taste victory.â And with that the battle continues as Luffy still fights towards Ace.
Suddenly a deafening roar is heard through the air and everyone looks to the sky. Eryx cuts through the air as Marineford comes into sight for you. He lets out a roar as you get closer and you look around the battlefield for Ace. You finally see him chained to the platform as well as the familiar flash of blue hair on the battlefield. You stand on the saddle and unsheath your sword as you shout.
âACEâ Everyone stands still as the massive dragon gets closer.
âLITTLE RIDERâ
âLITTLE STORMâ
âITS THE DRAGON QUEEN.â
âERYX DRIFT.â You brace yourself as Eryx draws closer to the platform where Ace is. Once he is close enough Eryx turns on his side and you push your feet against the saddle using it to launch yourself to where Ace is. You bring your sword in front of you and slice through the chains that are holding Ace to the platform. You let out a sharp whistle and Eryx circles back to you dodging bullets as he goes. You pull Ace up with you,and when Eryx is close you throw the both of you off the platform.
âERYX GO TO POPS AND GET THEM OUT OF HERE.â You yell out as you stand on the saddle as Eryx glides above the battle.
âLittle Storm what are you doing.â
âGetting you and Pops out of here Fire Breath.â You give him a kiss on the cheek and quickly give Eryx a pat on the head.
âTake care of them Eryx.â You jump off the saddle and pull open your arms using the newly added wings of your armor.
âLITTLE STORM!â You hear Ace yell from behind you as Eryx continues to fly.
Eryx lands on the ground in front of Whitebeard a with deafening thump. Whitebeard looks at his childs dragon as his son scrambles off the saddle.
âThey sent you to get Ace and I away huh.â Eryx lets out a huff in agreement as Whitebeard lets out a sigh.
âOf course. MY SONS GO BACK TO THE SHIP WE HAVE ACE.â
âBUT POPS WHAT ABOUT LITTLE STORM.â
âTHEYâLL BE FINE MY SONS NOW HURRY WHY WE HAVE THIS OPPORTUNITY.â Marco quickly grabs Ace and begins to drag the struggling pirate to the ship as Whitebeard looks to where you are.
âBe careful my child.â
You slash through the marines wanting to give as much time as possible so Ace can escape. As you engage with another marine you donât notice the second one slipping behind you with a sword. Before the sword can make contact with you the marine is knocked out by a gloved hand.
âDONâT TOUCH MY LITTLE RIDER.â
âCAPTAIN.â You exclaim as you hear Buggy behind you. Suddenly dozens of prisoners from Impel Down come out helping you fight off the marines.
âMiss me Little Rider.â He says with his signature smile on his face. Before your mind processes what you are doing, you launch yourself at Buggy wrapping your arms around him. He stumbles slightly before regaining his balance and bringing his arms around you holding you tightly against his chest.
You pull away slightly and look up at him with a smile.
âReady to show them how flashy the Buggy Pirates are captain.â
âYou know it Little Rider.â And with that you both spring back into the fight.
âSTRAW-BOY GET OUT THE WAY.â You hear a voice yell and turn around. And you see Luffy reaching for something on the ground as one of the Admiralâs goes towards him. Youâre moving before you realize and shove Luffy out of the way of the punch. You let out a scream as the magma burns through your armor.
âLITTLE STORM!!â
âLITTLE RIDER!!â You hear voices call out to you as everything becomes muffled. Another deafening roar fills the air as Eryx cuts through the air to where you lay on the ground. He crouches protectively over your body as he blasts away the marines that surrounded you.
âGET AWAY FROM THEM YOU BASTARDS.â
Explosions are heard as Buggy blasts his way through the crowd making his way to where Eryx is crouching over you. Akainu brings his fist up again preparing to strike Luffy who was looking at Eryx and you. Before his fist could make contact with him his punch is blocked by a sword. The entire battle field stills at the appearance of Shanks. And a new ship makes it way into port.
âWhy is one of the four emperors from the New World here!?â
âRed Haired Shanks!ââ¨Shanks sheaths his sword as he steps between Luffy and Akainu. You feel two hands carefully lift you and begin to move you away. You open your eyes to see who it is but all you see is detached hands.
âBuggyâ You murmur as your eyes slide back close knowing that youâll be safe. Buggyâs hands continue to move you until your on the side of the battlefield beside him.
âI gotcha Sweets.â He says as he leans you against a broken wall. Buggy lets out a small whistle to Eryx who carefully picks Luffy up by the back of his vest and carries him over as Shanks stands against Akainu. Buggy carefully lifts you up and sets you on the saddle on Eryxâs back.
âCome on Strawhat climb on we need to get to Whitebeardâs ship.â Buggy climbs up onto Eryxâs saddle and puts you in his lap as Luffy climbs on behind him.
âI know Iâm not Little Rider but letâs get out of here.â Eryx spreads his wings and takes off from the ground as everyone begins to retreat.
Eryx glides carefully through the air not wanting to cause you any more pain.
He starts to lower in the sky as he gets closer to Whitebeardâs ship. The crew moves on the ship making room for Eryx to land, and he lands on the ship with a thump as Buggy jumps on his back.
âHurry Akainu burned them we need to treat it.â Marco pushes through the crowd and runs over to where Buggy is laying you on the deck as he cushions your head.
âLuffy!â Ace yells as he runs to his little brother.
âAce!!â Luffy cries out as he wraps his arms around Ace and attaches to him like a koala. As Luffy and Ace have their little reunion Marco is carefully healing your wounds as Buggy watches with a worried filled face.
âTheyâll be okay thankfully Eryxâs scales can handle that type of heat yoi.â You slowly start to come too as Marco continues to heal you. You let out a small whimper as you feel some of the burns.
âShh its okay Little Rider. Heâs almost done.â
âC-Captain. Pops and Ace?â Before Buggy can respond another voice cuts him off.
âWeâre okay Little Storm you saved us. Marco once you are done treating them bring them and the other snot nosed brat to Little Stormâs room.â
âHey who are you calling a snot nosed brat you old man.â Buggy shouts as he carefully lifts your head off of his lap.
âTHATS WHAT IâM CALLING YOU. YOU BRAT.â
Before Buggy can get any further you reach a hand out a grab his arm.
âCaptain leave Pops alone.â He letâs out a huff and sits back down as you move your head back to his lap. Eryx curls up around the three of you as Luffy wrestles with Ace.
âAnd done Little Storm.â Marco says as he gets up.
âCome on Iâll show you where their room is. Fossa bring Eryx to his normal spot yoi.â Buggy gets up and lifts you up in his arms. He follows Marco down the hallways of the ship.
âThis is their room if they need anything just ask them for directions. Oh and Buggy treat our sister good because Pops wonât hesitate to throw you over board yoi.â And with that Marco goes back down the hall and out to the deck. Buggy opens the door to the room and steps in.
âAlright Little Rider lets get you in bed you earned it.â He gently lays you on your bed and carefully pulls your armor off your shoulders and arms. He goes to take a step back but your hand on his arm stops him.
âDonât go Captain. â He stands there as his emotions fight each other.
âAhh screw it.â He mutters as he takes the hat off of his head and lays the coat he was wearing on the chair. He carefully lays in the bed beside you. You donât like how far he is from you so you move closer and lay your head on his chest. Buggy tenses up slightly at this not knowing what to do. He slowly brings his arm up and wraps it around your waist carefully as his body relaxs when you snuggle into his chest.
âMissed you captain.â
âBuggy.â He mutters
âHuh what was that.â
âCall me Buggy.â
âOkay Buggy. I missed you was worried.â You mutter as you bury your face into his chest.
âMissed you too Little Rider.â You hear him say as you feel a kiss on top of your head.
