"Forever's a long time, bud."
YOU DID NOT-
not arguing with a lady in pretty dresses whatever u say beautiful!!
I’ve been watching Danny Phantom and I get it. I get it now.
This show loves to make some offhanded comment, not a hint of consideration or concern in its tone, and just moves on without addressing it like that wasn’t the most creatively horrific concept this side of Nickelodeon. Shit makes up wackass lore on the spot and then disregards it immediately after, asks fascinating questions then looks at you funny when you try to answer them.
I now fully understand how this show has legions of fans dedicated to taking this somewhat mid cartoon and running so far with the implications of the premise they created an entirely different show that’s so much more interesting I’m upset it’s not real.
”you can just make an oc” you dont understand anything. the character needs to mutate naturally until unrecognizable. like all evolutionary processes it takes time. you can’t force it or it doesn’t take. you must endure weird ooc thematically discordant versions of a guy until they bud off into beautiful new life. have patience
Update: went outside and laid on a dry patch of grass in full sunlight for a half hour
Highly recommend that shit worked wonders
I need to scream into the void
Like full body, chest splitting apart, eldritch horrors beyond comprehension kinda scream
Feel like that’ll help with the stress
The dynamic in Rise between the rest of the team and Leo is. so fucking funny. Because like you've got these three extremely talented individuals who all seem like perfectly reasonable people at first glance, right, but then if you squint hard enough you realize they're actually all batshit insane (affectionate) and the clown boy standing behind them is secretly their common sense.
Clown boy will occasionally put himself and the others in danger to Prove Himself or Prove Someone Wrong (see Minotaur Maze and the movie) but like otherwise... i think people forget Leo's overwhelmingly the voice of reason in most situations?
Raph, Mikey, and Donnie are all incredibly powerful boys with very specific skill sets. They are also, as a direct result of this, the WORST decision-makers on god's green earth lmao. When presented with a problem, Raph will smash, Donnie will blow shit up, and Mikey will razzmatazz. They will all run straight toward death with the same oblivious enthusiasm of a dog about to run straight into a screen door. None of them realize this and all of them think they are Extremely Good At Problem-Solving.
And the guy cursed with the common sense to realize this is literally the LAST person anyone would expect.
When you look closely, the entirety of Rise is actually a chronicle of Leo trying to find new and creative ways to keep this team of superpowered fools alive while simultaneously white-knuckling his Cool Fun Guy persona so the others don't realize he's secretly the Boring Responsible One. Haha, you know what would be Cool and Fun, guys? Not going after the Spine Breaking Bandit lol. Getting home before the sun goes up lol. Evacuating that civilian lol. Not telling the guy dangling me off a roof "you won't, no balls" lol.
The sacred struggle of every iteration of Leonardo is thanklessly wrangling the most trigger-happy siblings in the world, and Rise Leo has not escaped it. He just does an occasional shenanigan to avoid detection and his brothers fall for it every time.
developing your ocs is 50% waiting for bursts of divine inspiration like an oracle sleeping next the vapours seeping from fissures in the temple floor and 50% stalking them in your mind relentlessly like a persistence predator until they tire out enough for you to get close and scamper away with the bloody scraps of "eye colour: brown" and "dislikes: people who think they're funny" clutched in your mouth like a hunting trophy
*smacks you with oc art*
Sorry about that, I redrew a three-year old drawing of my oc Ozzy and got excited (it’s been so long since I’ve done oc art it’s insane)
Here’s the old pic for reference (the lack of texture is mortifying I can’t look T^T)
Hi just thinking about Splinter who went from a dashing internationally loved superstar to a hideous mutant who has to raise four rowdy boys alone in hiding while struggling with latent trauma from his mom abandoning him, cutting himself off from his family, and getting betrayed by the love of his life. Thinking about how him “letting himself go” wasn’t just written for jokes but from a place of unspoken depression. Thinking about how he never shared any of this with his boys and never projected his trauma onto them but his distance led to them being starved for affection. Thinking about how much they ADORE him even when he’s blatantly neglectful, insinuating that he does pay attention when it matters. And don’t get me started on his movies dubbing his accent over or how separated he became from his own culture, leading to parallels to the Asian immigrant experience. He’s a flawed parent. He’s an okay sensei. He’s a loving father. He’s a badass family man. ROTTMNT really looked at the boring one dimensional mentor with culturally insensitive stereotypes in past iterations and went nah we can do better.
And then they made us all cry.
