ALBEDO accepts the fact that he would never be with you again. i mean, that is how life works right? things come and go, yet for some reason, albedo can't help but miss the feeling of your presence, your touch, your words. you saw him as something more than the smart alchemist, but he regarded you as nothing more than an experiment with a surprisingly bittersweet end.

HU TAO reminisces of the time you both spent together, savouring each laugh of yours in her memories, your bright smile that would illuminate her dark world and transform it into something beautiful. but the deafening silence was ringing in her ears, the absence of your jokes and comments and usual playful banter drained from existence, like a soul taken away.

KAEDEHARA KAZUHA sits atop that one special rock that overlooked a small river in liyue with a soft smile on his face, watching the sunset as it casts a colourful glow over the river. his hand momentarily caresses the rock, looking for that particular warm feeling of your hand beside him, but then he remembers that you weren't there anymore, and that smile fades away along with the sunset.

"I can't lose you, too."

XINYAN strums her guitar onstage, her fingers gliding over each chord with ease. she prepares to sing the song you both wrote while huddling underneath a blanket on that frosty night, lifting her head to scan over the crowd searching for those distinct eyes she had grown to see full of admiration and love for her. her fingers hesitate, her breath cuts short, you're no longer there. the music breaks, along with her heart.

"but how about that song we wrote together?"

Accidentally Touching Hands

A/n: thank you! Also my bad my requests are open I just tend to be slow at posting them oops- but I thought this idea was so cute so I hope I did it justice

• Ayaka and you were sitting on a bench outside of the Yashiro Commission Headquarters, relaxing after a long meeting discussing the next upcoming festival.

• You two were close, even though the bench could fit about two people you two hogged the bench. Sitting in the middle closer than two people would normally sit. Neither of you has the guts to mention or tease.

• She would admit how exhausted she was which led her to be a little more clumsy than she expected. She would of course come to regret this.

“How do you feel about the new executive my brother hired?” Ayaka asked you.

“Hm. I think he’s well-spoken but his ideas are lacking and he’s very shy.”

“You think? I think I feel the same,” she giggled a little at the bluntness of your conversation. “You know, relaxing here with you is the best. Unlike the other executives in the committee, you make me feel safe and like I can let my guard down.” 

She sprawled out her arms in a great big stretch and let out a hearty yawn. Her hand landed in an inconvenient place right on top of yours. You felt the gentle touch of her palm and her cold fingertips upon yours. However, she quickly retracts, a light blush on her face. “Ah~ so sorry.” she quickly squeaks.

“No it’s okay,” you were blushing quite harshly as well. “It’s alright I don’t mind.” You two remained in an awkward silence after the quick touch even if it was slight. The combined embarrassment between you two made it hard to speak.

“Uh- Ayaka it’s alright I really didn’t mind.” You attempted to break the silence. She looked at you with yearning eyes. 

“You really mean it?” She asked. “I worry that sometimes I will push you away, after all, you’re the only f-... friend I can confide in.” she hesitated on the word friend as if she wasn’t quite sure if it was appropriate to categorize you as a friend when it was clear she thought more of you.

• Hu Tao and you were sitting on a bench outside of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor relaxing after a long day of advertising.

• You two were close, you sat next to an armrest while Hu Tao sat smack dab in the middle on purpose. She didn’t like being any further than necessary from you, and right next to you was the most obvious option for her.

• Hu Tao was pooped after being shut down all day by civilians. Being a Funeral Parlor Director was exactly the easiest job, she would pretend to be somber and throw a woe is me show.

Hu Tao plopped herself on the bench making a quick thud. “Ah~ today was so exhausting. Can you believe that one guy? I mean come on I gave him such a good deal and he slams the door on our face.” She folded her arms and pouted.

You giggled a little at her, “It’s alright Hu Tao don’t fret over him, we still got many other customers and the Funeral Parlor is as joyful as ever with you as our director.” You expected a goofy reaction for her of self-advocacy but instead, she blushed and averted her eyes from you.

“I guess, but that doesn’t excuse that guy for being so rude.” She rested her hands on the bench accidentally overlapping your hand with hers. Confused by the sudden warmth and fleshy feeling she looks down and sees her hand atop of yours. “Oh haha oops-”

It takes her a while to move even after realizing, almost like she was pinning you there. You both had a light blush painted on your ears and cheeks. “Uh- sorry,” she said quickly and quickly moved after realizing your embarrassment. She was so focused on her own heart pumping at the speed of light she didn’t notice that you didn’t mind holding her hand.

• Thoma suggested you rest after a long day of training outside of the Kamisato Estate, he would sit with you on a nearby bench to make sure you didn’t cut yourself short of your break time.

• While you sat by the armrest he sat right in the middle. You would patronize him for it but his response would be, what’s wrong with wanting to be closer to a friend knowing well that he had an ulterior motive

• He had a whole plan about how to flirt with you. I swear this boy had a mental book centralized on how to flirt with you 101, and it was just full of cheesy romantic scenes that would never happen in real life

Thoma was oddly close to you but you just looked the other way and ignored it. His arms folded and his broad shoulders barely brushing against yours as he man-spreads you into a small corner of the bench. He looked lost in thought of self-reflection. “awh man, I can’t believe I did that.” His strong demeanor turned sour and whiny almost instantly.

“What’d you do to drive you so crazy.” You sighed, you knew how much of a womanizer he could be when striking deals so you would rather tune it out. As he explained you noticed he would side-eye your hand which was resting on a bench. 

With a quick stretch, he thought he was slick placing his hand on yours. You only stared at him with a small pout knowing he was doing it intentionally. “Oh well would you look at that 👀, what an inconvenience.” He said sarcastically, yet he still kept his hand on yours. 

“Thoma, are you going to move?” You asked straight forward. He grabbed his own hand possessively and quickly turned away at his failed attempt, his confidence quickly diminished into thin air. Although turned away you could see his ears bright red, the warmth on your hand from his still lingering. You kinda regretted shooing him away constantly.

Lisa

Now she felt quite guilty over her feelings for you- since you were taken- but she knows suspicious behavior when she sees it.

Your partner was quite... Odd. She knew something was up but anyone would accuse her of jealousy if she'd try anything.

And to be frank yes she was jealous, she just didn't wanted you to feel bad over it.

But it didn't get rid of the feeling that something wasn't right, she never had alone conversation with them and was sweet since they didn't do anything wrong... Yet.

However she still had a very threatening aura around her. If a smile could kill hers definitely would.

"Oh? You're going to see (Partner's Name)? How sweet that things go so well for you two~ When do you think we could meet up? I'll prepare us some tea and you can tell me everything" was actually a bait so she can notice any red flags you don't notice.

"So they told you to change something about your appearance? Why I think you look stunning, but I suppose they don't have what it takes to notice a true cutie like you" she'd laugh off and say that she was joking while actually she took mental notes of the way they treat you.

It looked like your date kept trying to change something about you. They wanted you to act different, dress different, enjoy different things and many more.

She could see it exhausted you. So she told you that things are slowly going too far and you shouldn't stay with them.

Of course you didn't listen, you were blinded by love and she understood it. So instead she backed down, if you wanted to learn it the hard way unfortunately she had to let you.

After months of dating, your partner still wasn't satisfied with you, you begged and begged for them to not leave you. They called you pathetic and just like that they left.

It was sad but perhaps you need a proper slap from reality. Still it didn't change the fact that you felt worthless.

You tried everything for them and in the end it still wasn't enough. Maybe you didn't deserve love as a whole?

Lisa was there for you entire time. She was as sweet as ever ready to hear you out. If you needed emergency hugs, sweets, anything just ask her.

She didn't use this to confess her feelings either, it'd be selfish of her to use you in such vulnerable state.

But when you started ranting about not being able to find someone who loves you she just said "Look dear, as much as I respect you and your opinions you couldn't be more wrong. I love you, and if you say something like that again I'll kiss you to shut you up"

You didn't know what to say... It made things a bit awkward but you were flattered.

You said the line again, but in a more confident manner which was challenging her to stand by her word. And you know Lisa, she wasn't a liar~

(Bonus scene) Although the toxic relationship was behind you and you moved on Lisa can't say she never used her vision to cause your ex slight discomfort. She never really hurt them but she did inconvenience them.

Kaeya

He was pretty surprised to find out you were dating someone. It was a shame really since he enjoyed the casual flirting... Yup he was definitely casual with you and he didn't 100% mean a thing.

He mostly found out about your relationship becouse the person in question approached him and warned him.

"Y/N is my everything, and if you take them away from me I'll make sure you'll need a second eyepatch"

And while Kaeya respects their wishes, he knows a liar when he sees one (after all he owns a mirror).

The cockyness and fake desperation mixed with lack of sincerity for the first part of the sentence as well as body language made things clear for him.

He of course still backed down and didn't try to win you over even though it was tempting to make you cheat on them. He could just imagine the look on their face when they see how to treat you properly.

It was a guilty pleasure of his to just throw in a line that was on thin ice of flirting next to your partner.

But he slowly realized that it was his grave mistake.

They took this anger out on you. They yelled at you and made you believe it was your fault for things not working out so well between you two.

They threw a lot of empty threats, you weren't aware of the fact that they were empty of course.

They told you one time that Kaeya tried to ruin your life, while in the next few minutes they were saying that everything was your fault alone.

After enough tension they realized it wasn't so fun using you anymore. While they had you wrapped around their finger it was more convenient to find someone else at this point. If they won't be able to they'll just come back to you since you clearly will take them back anytime.

And even worse was that they had a perfect excuse to break up with you- accusing you of cheating.

You tried your best to prove your innocence but they 'didn't believe you'. Of course they knew you were innocent they knew what you were doing all day but it's better to blame you than just admitting to not wanting you.

This break up not only broke you but also your friendship with Kaeya. If he wasn't so... So Kaeya around your date things wouldn't end like this.

That's what you believe at first. So you avoided the man like a plague. You had to resort to trying your best to mend your heart alone.

You had other friends besides Kaeya but you shoot them down whenever they tried to help you.

He found it ironic that he in the end he was the one who made things rough for you. He wanted to help you but he ended up destroying everything, just as always...

But this time he didn't wanted things to end this way. He even considered talking to your ex but they found another plaything by the time he wanted to fix what he destroyed.

So he talked to you directly- well not exactly directly but he was in front of your door you refused to open "I know I'm the last person you want to speak to... And what I'm going to say is not going to change that probably" he laughed at himself that he even has hope that you'll stop hating him after such awful conversation starter.

"You know... All I did was because I was... Jealous. I know I had no right to be, you were dating them and not me... I'm not sure where I'm going with this but you need to know that (Ex Name) was a piece of garbage. Whenever I heard them talk to their friends, they treated you like you were a trophy not their lover, so I couldn't stand the idea of having someone like this... Be with someone I love" he was right of course but having that sentence right next to admitting he was jealous was a poor planning on his part.

Perhaps it turned out to be like that becouse he was nervous. But you had no reason to believe him and he knew that.

So after telling you everything he thanked you for listening if you even did and left.

Now it was up to you to decide whether you forgive him or even just believe him while you also have the option to ignore him completely.

Yoimiya

She was really supportive of you even though it hurt her. But hey seeing you smile sometimes have to be enough, even when she isn't the reason behind your smile.

She was more sad than jealous. But when she talked to your partner she got a little bit suspicious.

And you know Yoimiya- she's great at reading people. While on the surface they seemed ideal, she realized that all they did was make it impossible to ever say no to them.

They took you out on far too expensive dates, never let you return any favors and having excuses to rejecting your gifts. It was all just so when they really want something from you they can say "I do everything for you and you do nothing for me"

Not only that she also found out they were cheating on you. This was unacceptable and she tried to warn you right away.

"Y/N what I'm going to say is really important so please listen to me: your partner is cheating on you. I saw them on the festival with someone else and it didn't look like two friends hanging out"

You wanted to believe Yoimiya but love is nothing without trust so you asked her if she was sure of what she saw.

You did find it suspicious that they didn't wanted to go out with you today and told you to not go near festival today. But they also explained it was because they were busy with work and they wanted to have full festival experience with you.

No matter how many times she tried to reason with you, you refused.

It was so annoying that she couldn't say anything to convince you to just listen to her. She hates being so helpless.

And she didn't wanted to drop it but when you told her to just leave you alone she knew there was no convincing you.

She couldn't sleep thinking of things she should do to make the heartbreak less... Well... Breaking?

She focused on her work for now but she had a very hard time trying. You always were on her mind but never in this way.

Few days later she saw you crying and there was no words for how much it broke her heart to see you like this.

She hugged you right away asking what happened and you admitted that she was right and you were a fool for not believing her.

"It's okay Y/N, no need to insult yourself like that! Everyone makes mistakes and everyone sometimes trusts the wrong person"

She thought what to do for a while and said "I know! How about I set off some fireworks for you and get you some good food after that? Or maybe we should do it in reverse order..."

You refused to go out to eat, after all that was what (Ex Name) always did with you and to that she said "Silly, I meant that I'll cook for you! You can join me if you want too. Cooking with someone is fun... Oh I know! Maybe stay for the night with me too and we'll talk all night if you want, or I can provide you with any emergency hugs whenever you'll need them"

So from heartbreaking afternoon you had an amazing evening and night with Yoimiya.

She did everything she could to distract you from your ex and she never shamed you when you couldn't help but recall. It was really sweet and considerate of her...

Oh also she didn't know she'd ever have to do anything like that but your ex was officially banned from her service. She didn't care about being petty, what she cared about is at least a little karma.

The sun begins to peek above the horizon as you cuddle farther into Yoimiya's side, wrapping the blanket around you tightly. She slings an arm across your shoulders, pressing a kiss to your temple. The sight of the beginning of a day was one that you would never forget especially since you got to share it with your lover. In a hushed voice she says, "Wow, isn't that pretty?" Nodding against her shoulder, you quietly respond, "Yeah, but not as pretty as you." The sudden flirt causes Yoimiya to turn away and cough in an attempt to cover up her flustered state. You giggle as she pouts and exclaims, "That's not fair! You can't catch me off guard like that!" A wide grin breaks out on your face as you lean up to kiss the tip of her nose. "I couldn't help it, you're just too cute, Sparky."

• the person who let you have the last carton of eggs. you were rushing to the supermarket in an absolute frenzy; your mother wanted to make desserts, but you used up the last eggs in the house to complete a stupid ‘rubber egg’ science project of yours.

• it was already late, and the chances of the supermarket actually having anything there at all was very slim, but luck seemed to be in your favour??? lo and behold, right there in the poultry aisle, sits the last box of eggs. you could literally hear angels singing.

• well, your glorious moment was interrupted by a third party picking it up before you could. he was observing them with a critical gaze, and in a slight moment of panic, you were debating whether or not you could win against him in a fist fight.

• but as he gave you a quizzical look at your defeated expression, you opted for the second option: begging.

• it was a pitiful sight, really. you were about to get on your knees and plead at the poor guy just for the eggs. you knew your mother would be angry if you came home with nothing, and you weren’t about to risk a scolding, not today!!

• but instead, he just wordlessly handed the carton to you. no small talk, no need for you to throw your dignity to the side, nothing. it was like he could read your mind. you stood there in awe.

• you were invited to join them with a warm smile from both boys, and your heart almost skipped a beat imagining a domestic scene with the two: childe cooking a meal, while you and teucer sit at a table expectantly. ohh you hopeless romantic… imagining all these scenarios with a boy you’ve just met..

• you got attached way too quickly. you thought that childe believed the same: that you two hit it off, but apparently he didn’t. he gave you his number, but only ever initiated conversation if teucer wanted to meet up with you in the park. (the little boy had grown attached to you!) but it was never for anything else. childe never interacted with your ‘how was your day?’ texts at all.

• next thing you knew, the texts eventually faded into nothingness. you heard from a mutual friend of yours that childe started to date a new girl that moved into town, and that the two can be seen in the nearby park, acting like a sickenly sweet couple as they play tag with childe’s siblings.

• you occasionally walk by the park sometimes, and watch in envy as the girl took up the spot that you once had with the boys. it seemed as if teucer completely forgot about you; he liked the new girl more. and childe… he never once looked your way; he never saw you anything beyond a friend to begin with. childe may have never been yours, but a part of your heart still considered him to be a traitor.

A knock on the door brings you out of your thoughts as you blearily look up towards the source. Yanfei yawns and sleepily leans against the door, asking softly, “Why are you up?” Unable to give her a proper answer, you merely shrug and move to start working again. With a flash of pink hair, she appears by your side, gently removing the pen out of your loose grasp and placing it down on the desk. Her hands move to rest on your shoulders as her warm eyes meet yours, “Let’s get you to bed alright? The work will still be here in the morning. I just want to be in your arms tonight.” A smile makes its way on to your face as you nod and allow yourself to be pulled into her arms and guided towards the bed, all of the paperwork forgotten as you contently bask in the warmth of your girlfriend’s caring embrace.

Ayaka: love, lovely, and your name

Ayaka is a smile woman, only using love/ lovely when you’re alone, and your name out in public. The only exception to that is if you’re around… important people. Like sara for example. In a meeting of sorts, she won’t hesitate to say “love can you hand me that piece of paper”

Yoimiya: baby, sweetie, spark

Typically using baby or sweetie all the time. Though does throw in spark once and a while. It started off as a joke, with yoimiya saying “oh my adorable little sparky” as a joke… you know (please don’t ask for context because I can’t give it to you, I just know she’d do this :’)) But then she actually started calling you spark.

Thoma: darling, sweetheart, prince/princess

Only addresses you with utmost respect, and sweetness in his voice. Even during a fight he’ll be kind, and use these pet names. He uses them out in public too, not shying away from pda, but of course he’ll respect you and your boundaries, so if you’re not comfortable with that he’ll only use pet names when you’re alone or not around many people.

Sara: your name

I honestly think she’s too nervous to use pet names, and feels like you’ll think she’s being disrespectful. She doesn’t know why, but because of how much she respects you she only calls you by your name. Maybe a nickname.

Kokomi: love, sweetheart, baby, cutie, angel

Not ashamed to use pet names, and literally will call you the sweetest things you can think of. She thinks it’s so fitting for you because she of course thinks you’re a sweetheart.

Gorou: babe, and love

Gorou is a tough one, I genuinely had no clue what to put down for him. Though I had to settle on something. He probably called you puppy/pup once and now he says it in private. Just cause.

Itto: gorgeous, pretty, and something relating to an inside joke of yours

Worships you to the point where he calls you gorgeous and pretty when addressing you. And for the inside joke part… that’s for you to decide. He could call you “beans” just cause it has to do with some joke you have. Actually yeah. He probably calls you beans even though he’s literally allergic to them.

Kazuha: anything and everything

This man could literally call you “trash can” and it would sound like the most heavenly thing you’ve ever heard. The way he uses his words is so…????? To the point where he can make anything sound like a pet name.

Ei: sweetie

Doesn’t really think pet names are… useful. When you explain it to her as a, “endearing name you call someone you love” she probably is like “well… I love you… and I love deserts… I could call you cake?” You decided on sweetie after that.

Yae: my love, and darling

The way her voice says ‘my love’ when addressing you is so… soothing. She isn’t even saying your name and she suddenly has you wrapped around her finger with a few simple words.

Amber‘s confession is spontaneous. Fully unexpected, fully unplanned. She really didn’t plan for those words to fall out of her mouth, really! But you just looked so charming under the evening sun, as the both of you walked back to the main gates of Mondstadt. The way your hair shone so gently, the way your eyes looked so gentle despite being tired, the way you were so poised, so confident. It makes Amber’s knees turn into jello, you know. And so she just blurts out,

“Y/n, I like you!”

Barbara, oh sweet Barbara. Her heart flutters so easily when you’re around with that charming grin of yours, when you enter the fray and “chase off” her fans like a knight in shining armor on that day, the way she felt so normal around you, and not the Deaconess and the shining idol of Mondstadt. She plans, albeit with help from Lisa. Lisa advised her to be herself, so she decides on singing a wonderful song that she wrote just for you, and only for you. She invites you to the church early in the morning, and sings it so beautifully. You swore, right as she confesses, there was a soft glow, like an angel’s, that shone on Barbara’s figure.

“Y/n.. I hope you will accept the feelings that I have for you.”

Beidou is not dumb about such feelings. She knows about such feelings. And she’s not afraid to show you the depth of her feelings. From small trinkets that she found in her travels, to regaling stories about her adventures, to always finding you whenever she was back in Liyue Harbour, it was so obvious. So, so obvious. And now, she wants to make you hers, once and for all. She invites you on board the Crux. She drags you along for a great feast, courtesy of Xiangling herself. Xinyan also performs, and it’s a wonderful night. As the atmosphere grows even more under Xinyan’s epic guitar solo, Beidou drags you to the steering wheel. She takes a sip of her drink, for luck. Then she stares at you, with such overwhelming affection you know what she’s about to say.

“I’m not good with words, y/n, so I’ll be direct. Be mine?”

Eula worries. So much. She cares so much about you, and she doesn’t want your reputation to be smeared into the mud. However, even someone as icy as her (at least, how she presents herself) has her limits. She’s so jealous when someone else who isn’t her is so close to you, in a way her heart clenches and wishes that she’s the one hugging you so closely, and wishes that she’s the one making you smile so vibrantly. Though, the soft smiles that you give her are equally as precious, but still! She’s so not content with what she has with you anymore. She wants more so badly. It takes a lot of effort from Amber’s part to convince Eula to confess.

Eula plans out a special picnic with you at Stormbearer Mountains. She scouts ahead, she prepares and liaises with Amber in case, and even puts in so much effort making her Stormcrest Pie. Hopefully, as she leads you through a couple’s dance after that, she’ll be able to confess properly.

“y/n.. I hope that you will be my dance partner for life.”

Fischl, the girl who dared to dream. For so long, she has been deemed an outcast simply because she could not let go. But you. Oh,you. You accepted her for who she is, and never have you ever attempted to make her change. As the heir to the throne, it is obvious who she’ll choose to be her equal in power. You. So she brings out “Flowers for princess Fischl” and she starts highlighting certain phrases, certain sentences that she’s so sure that you’ll notice, because it’s the secret code the two of you had created together, only known between the two of you. So when you get the book and you decipher the secret code, you’ll see this.

The carefree Yanfei is happy to take a break. Sure, she does tend to end up giving legal advice anyway, but that's just because she likes to help and she likes the law.

This time around, however, she makes it her personal goal to make sure you actually take the day off.

She notices your fidgeting. How anxious you seemed to be not at work. Each time she saw this, Yanfei would take your hand and drag you to some special spot in Liyue.

After all, you can't be stressed while eating a good meal~

Listening to story tellers, shopping together, and simply taking a stroll by the docks is how your day is spent. And after a while, you begin to truly relax.

At one point, the two of you started playing with her balancing scale. It was almost a game of who could find the most valuable item. With some limitations, of course. No mora. No visions.

Finally it was time to go your separate ways. Smiling, you thanked Yanfei for forcing you to relax. She doesn't mind one bit, grinning with a friendly smile.

Ganyu also has trouble forcing herself to relax. The two of you are very much alike in that aspect.

This does manage to balance itself, as you both want the other to take it easy. And so, your day of mutually forcing each other to take the day off begins.

Ganyu takes you to Jueyun Karst. The serenity of the landscape and the spiritual energy flowing due to the adeptal presence almost instantly brings you at peace.

The both of you end up taking a nap. Resting under the shade of a large tree, resting on the soft, cool grass...

Wind blows gently, and before you close your eyes, you watch a ladybug crawling on a nearby blade of grass.

You wake up before Ganyu, and you sit up, bringing your knees to your chest.

Smiling down at your partner, there was a beauty of seeing her at complete rest.

Looking out at the sunset, you couldn't help but just...breath. Exist. You couldn't be bothered to worry about responsibilities.

This was peace. And soon, Ganyu awoke, joining you as you watched the light fade behind the horizon.

Ayaka is the epitome of grace and elegance… That’s why you could barely hold back your laughter when she came to you upset over the tiniest scratch on her finger, rose in hand.

“It’s not funny,” Ayaka muttered as you carefully bandaged her finger.

You had to avoid making eye contact with her lest you fall prey to another fit of giggling. “Sorry,” you composed yourself. “It’s just that you’re so cute, all sad about hurting yourself when you were trying to do something for me.”

You didn’t have to see her face to know she was blushing. You felt Ayaka’s hand instinctively begin to pull away from yours, likely to cover her flushed expression, but she stopped herself.

“Just be more careful next time, okay?” you requested as you finished bandaging the cut. Honestly, it was so insignificant that it probably didn’t need any medical care at all, but seeing the disappointed look in your fiancée’s eyes made you want to just pamper her and keep her safe from the world.

With her hand lingering in yours, you pressed a soft kiss to the now-bandaged cut. Ayaka quickly pulled her hand away for real this time, not out of anger, but embarrassment. “T-Thanks, [Name]…”

“And thank you for being so sweet,” you reciprocated. You kissed her forehead gently before the urge to start teasing her sprang up again.

Later that night, you had all but forgotten about the rose incident. You’d interrupted your commissions for the day to take care of Ayaka’s “injury,” and after finishing them and returning to the Kamisato Estate, you simply didn’t have the energy to remember.

Ayaka always tried to do her best to greet you when you came home. Sometimes you would finish your commissions late at night, but she would push herself to stay awake just so she could give you a goodnight kiss before going to sleep. When you finally made it back home and to the bedroom you shared with your soon-to-be-wife, you found her fast asleep, peacefully hugging your pillow.

You remembered the day’s earlier events when you noticed the rose on your nightstand accompanied by a beautiful calligraphic note.

“I’m sorry for interrupting your work and for falling asleep before you got home. I hope this suffices as an apology.”

That was one of the things you loved about Ayaka — how considerate she was. It was almost to a fault though; She had no reason to be apologizing for anything.

You examined the rose that had dared to prick your darling fiancée earlier today and saw that she had taken revenge on it. The thorns had all been meticulously removed. You would tease her about it again in the morning. For now, all you wanted to do was replace the pillow in Ayaka’s grasp with your body, feeling safe and comfortable in the arms of your beloved at the end of a long day.

THOMA

Thoma had a reputation for being capable of anything and everything. With the experience of living in two nations and being Ritou’s resident ‘fixer,’ you knew there was nothing he couldn’t do. Yet here he was, bearing a dejected expression and cut on his hand.

“What happened?” you asked, studying the wound on his palm. It really didn’t look too bad, but since you knew this kind of stuff rarely happened to Thoma, you were a little worried.

“Oh, it’s nothing!” he smiled, still as charismatic as ever. You wondered if there were other times where things had gone wrong and he just hadn’t bothered to tell you.

You shrugged as you met his gaze. “Fine,” you complied, “you don’t have to tell me. But, you do have to let me take care of it for you.”

Refusing to let go of his hand, you dragged his bedroom in the Kamisato Estate. It was much smaller than the others there because he was only a housekeeper, but Ayaka managed to make a decent bedroom for him. She even got some furniture all the way from Mondstadt for him.

You pulled open the drawer on a nightstand next to his bed and picked up a bandaid. Normally, it was Thoma who had to do emergency first aid on you, so you learned where he kept his supplies. You found it really endearing how he just happened to keep bandaids in his nightstand. He was always ready for anything — too bad that “anything” was usually taking care of you.

“It’s really nothing,” he reiterated as you removed the bandaid from its packaging. “You don’t have to do anything.”

You smiled sympathetically at him. All you were doing was protecting a tiny cut on his hand; you really wished you could do more for him. Thoma always seemed to be busy helping people with their own problems that he ended up neglecting his own.

You placed the bandaid on his palm. “I’d do more for you if you let me.”

Thoma crossed his arms for a moment, thinking, before answering you. “Now that you say that, yeah, there is something I could use your help with.”

You felt excitement rush through you. Finally, he wanted you to help him with something and you didn’t have to push him to let you do it!

“Would you mind leaving for a bit? Just a minute or two and then you can come back,” he answered.

You looked at him, dumbfounded. “You’re kidding, right?”

“No. Just go wait outside the door for a second, I promise it’ll be quick,” he assured you. Without any further resistance, you left his bedroom and closed the door behind you, leaving him in there alone.

You waited for not even thirty seconds until Thoma opened the door again. One of his hands was behind his back.

“Okay, close your eyes,” he instructed. You silently obeyed. “…Open!”

You were greeted by a rose in his now-bandaged hand extended towards you. You couldn’t help but smile at how sweet he was, but…

“Thoma, is this how you hurt yourself?” you teased.

A faint blush spread across his cheeks. “Maybe. But that’s not important! What’s important is that I love you.”

You accepted the rose from him and gave him a quick, chaste kiss.

HU TAO

Hu Tao’s dramatic nature often caused you to misconstrue big problems as insignificant and vice versa. She loved to play up any issue she may have, forcing you to decipher whether or not she actually wanted your help or not.

The tiniest scratch on her palm had her overreacting in fake pain as you carefully washed the thin amount of blood off.

“Oh, [Name], my beautiful love, you don’t think this wound will send me to the other side, do you?” she bemoaned with a hand resting dramatically over her heart.

You rolled your eyes. “I’m sure it will,” you jested. “Then, I wouldn’t have to deal with your antics.”

Hu Tao gasped incredulously. “[Name]! How could you say such wretched things to your injured darling? Have you no compassion?” she reprimanded, clearly fighting the urge to laugh.

You pressed a kiss to the now-clean scratch. “There,” you said as her act began to die down. “Is that better?”

She smiled genuinely at you. “I’d prefer if you kissed me up here,” she pointed at her lips, “but okay.”

“If you want that, you’re gonna have to work for it,” you joked before kissing her forehead. You were just trying to mess with her at this point. She always did it to you, so you had to occasionally return the favor, right?

“So mean,” she observed, still grinning. “You got any more work for today or can you stay?”

You glanced through the window in her office, pondering whether or not you should go back to your job at Yuehai Pavilion. The sun hadn’t set yet, but it was nearing the end of Hu Tao’s typical work day. Unfortunately, your schedules rarely aligned, so you assumed you’d have to get back soon.

“I should probably go,” you answered reluctantly. “I’ll see you later tonight though, okay?”

“Okay!” Hu Tao echoed. “Love you.”

You opened the door, preparing to leave. “I love you too.”

You would’ve skipped work if you had known this much paperwork was going to get dropped on you. Ganyu suddenly had some business to attend to with Cloud Retainer, leaving you to pick up the work in her place. Now you understood why she was always so stressed out.

Head against your desk, you sighed. It was well past sunset now. Hu Tao was probably worried at this point. There was nothing you wanted more than to go home and be with her.

Before you could finish lamenting your situation, the door to your office abruptly swung open, revealing Hu Tao with a rose in hand.

“Hi, babe!” she said excitedly, trying to cheer you up with her upbeat attitude. “I was starting to get bored without you around so I decided that I’d come bother you here! Oh, and this is why I cut myself earlier.”

She pushed the rose into your hands, peering into your eyes lovingly. “Come home soon, okay?”

Poor bby is really flustered.

She's new to this whole physical touch thing so she's probably really stiff too.

She does enjoy your cuddling sessions though :)

There's no way she'd ask you to cuddle first ( not in the beginning of your relationship at least ) so you'll have to ask her instead.

She smells like sakura blossoms and jasmine, you can't convince me otherwise.

Doesn't have a preferred position, though she does like it when you play with her hair.

She usually rumbles about her day while you read a book or drink tea.

She also loves to hear you talk while she holds you.

Has 100% fallen asleep during a cuddle session before but is always embarrassed whenever it's brought up.

Thoma uses that on his advantage, that little shit.

You assured her that it's fine because queen deserves some rest.

Her Cryo vision does tend to make things complicated though.

Unless you have a Pyro vision your cuddle sessions will be limited to summer only.

Since Baal is throwing a temper tantrum I'm assuming the weather isn't nice during summer either, poor you.

Unless you want to freeze to death of course :)

Also since she's like rich or something, I'm sure her bed is very comfy, honestly best place to cuddle.

I like to think that she loves cuddling outdoors too.

Maybe under a sakura tree or in a river bank.

I think that your cuddling sessions become her favorite time if the day after a while.

Yoimiya is the total opposite of Ayaka.

She absolutely loves cuddling but she's not sure if you do so she probably wouldn't bring it up first.

After she made sure that you're fine with it she asks you for cuddles three times a day at least.

She smells good but most of the time due to her job you'd have to put up with the smell of gunpowder and such.

Much like Ayaka she doesn't have a preference when it comes to positions.

She just wants to be able to look into your eyes.

You're the one mostly doing the talking surprisingly. She just likes to look at you and admire your features.

If you want to start a conversation she will participate though.

Yoimiya has come up to you a dozen times to ask for cuddles while being dirty because of the inevitable explosions during her work.

You just look at her and sigh softly, tugging her hand and leading her to the bathroom.

You love her but there's no way you'll cuddle with her when she's like that.

Again much like Ayaka her vision will get in the way of your cuddling unless you're a Cryo vision holder.

At least you'll be able to cuddle with her more of often with the excuse of the poor weather.

She loves cuddling you to worm you up especially if you get cold easily

I can imagine you cuddling Yoimiya after a hard day of work, when she's feeling stressed.

She also really likes back rubs while her head is tucked on your neck :)

Cuddles are an absolute must after any of your dates.

She says date that night isn't over without some cudfles first.

Honestly I think she loves the idea of cuddling but isn't as experienced.

She also probably doesn't have much time for cuddles either.

She's the leader of a resistance after all.

Has no problem with asking for cuddles and is likely the one that brought it up first.

Smells the best out of everyone here in my humble opinion.

Her hair looks really silky and soft as well :)

She doesn't mind the position you guys are in but her favourite place to be is in your arms.

She feels safe and secure, probably the only time in the day when she can relax.

If you place soft kisses on her head, face or neck while holding her she'll ascend to Celestia.

You both talk about various different topics and things. She likes to keep the conversation going, mostly to keep her thoughts in the present, away from the million things she has to do later.

The best thing you can do when you notice that she's feeling down is give her a massage.

Honestly her back must be so stiff after carrying the resistance on her back, so please help her out and you'll get lots of kisses later ;)

I think her Hydro vision is affecting her body temperature too so she's the same as Ayaka unfortunately.

Her fish become a part of your cuddling sessions if you don't mind :)

They're just really cute and Kokomi loves seeing you play with them while she tells you about the plans for the day in the early morning.

Sara is very awkward to say at least.

She's so tense whenever you're cuddling :(

You feel like you're cuddling a log most of the time.

She's probably training or planing strategies for upcoming battles so she won't have much time to cuddle during the day.

Will never ask you for cuddles but will cuddle if you want to.

I don't think Sara smells like anything in particular, probably just the clothing wash that she uses for her uniform, and even that has a very natural scent.

After all the training when she's all sweaty she will refuse to cuddle with you before she's taken a shower.

She likes every position that you like.

No matter what your favorite position is she'll be down for it.

While cuddling, you mostly ask her about different topics, other than her job or the military, in hopes of her relaxing and lowering her guard down for a bit.

She'll ask you about your plans too and she's always excited to hear about your adventures.

summary: a strange gift is left on your desk; just who could be the mystery sender? (genshin impact scaramouche, yanfei, xiao, & hu tao x reader)

scaramouche:

the box is crudely wrapped; the blue wrapping paper crinkled and ripped like whoever was gifting it was doing so on a deadline. your first instinct is that this is a package that was dropped off of a mail cart, but upon seeing your name written plainly on the tag outside, your curiosity is piqued.

inside is a folded piece of parchment, the wax seal keeping it closed could belong to none other but the balladeer. the box inside contains more parchment, these wrapped up more carefully. upon inspection, they're music sheets, compositions for lyre song that you suspect was written by scaramouche himself.

the note written to you reads; "celebrating one's day of birth is something for sentimental fools... but it has been a long while since i have last seen you, and felt this would be the best time to check and see if you're still alive. i know you must miss me so, but trust that in time, we will be reunited. if you're lucky, i may even play that song for you."

underneath the smudged ink at the bottom reads: "don't get too cocky knowing i wrote this song for you... you just so happen to be the only person i can stand. and i don't wish to owe you one from you giving me a gift on my birthday last year so ...happy birthday".

yanfei:

perfect would be too lax a word to describe just how beautifully decorated that box that sits in front of you is. the wrapping is a rose gold, golden and pastel pink bows tied neatly around its sides. it's symmetrical all around, and that alone clues you in as to who is the gifter of your birthday present. fresh silk lilies sit cut in a vase beside it, no doubt an extra gift from your favorite lawyer.

it almost feels criminal to open it, but eventually you do, and find a card on honey yellow paper sitting on top of another box of the same color.

the card reads; "happy birthday! i can't believe it has been a year that i've spent with you. each and every day i am with you is far too short, which is why tomorrow i've taken off of work so we can do something extra special, all-day long together. i love you! so, so much! and hope you like your gift. here's to many, many more birthdays spent together!"

inside the box is a beautifully ornate memories book, each page filled with pictures from your dates together. the lantern festival, the moonchase festival, your first and most recent dates — everything was recorded visually. along with little notes about yanfei's most memorable moment from each day, or pressed flowers that you had gifted her sealed within the pages. you could see how deep her affections ran with each and every word.

xiao:

there is no wrapping, and instead the gift lays out on your desk in the open, a piece of paper folded unevenly sitting beside it. a fresh cut of qingxin flowers tied up with twine. those flowers were notoriously hard to find; did he spend all morning gathering these up before delivering them to you? or was hopping across mountaintops easy work for an adeptus?

it was obvious by the messy scrawled handwriting that it was xiao's gift. the note reads; "i hope you like the small gift i got for you. i know mortal's birthdays are a big deal to them, so i thought you might like something like this... anyways, if you would like to see me simply call out my name. anytime, anywhere i will be there for you." and then, much messier, scratched out at the bottom reads: "this may seem like a selfish request but... if we could dance in the light of the fireflies tonight, together... i feel that would be... never mind."

underneath the note lay a small hairpin, shaped like a butterfly in beautiful turquoise and purple. he put a lot of thought into making you happy.

hu tao:

you know what hu tao's gift boxes look like. she often likes pranking you by putting lizards or frogs inside of them and leaving them at your doorstep. but this time the wrapping is more fun, more colorful; and there are no air holes poked into the top. it is a plain paper box with doodles all over it — mostly comprising of you and her holding hands, along with some of her ghost friends. it makes a smile grow on your face.

taking off the top of the box, inside are a whole bunch of knick-knacks; pretty crystals and wildflowers surrounding the center wherein lays paper dolls of the two of you, holding hands like on the outside of the box. underneath is a hand-knitted sweater, a cute ghost embroidered on each of the sleeve ends, and stitching on the chest that reads "HU TAO WANTS ME, SPIRITS FEAR ME". what would a gift from hu tao be if not a bit embarrassing.

"happy, happy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! hehe, i hope you like your gift, i promise it's not cursed or anything — i actually made it with lots and lots of love! i'm glad i've gotten to see you grow in this coming year. no matter where you go, your favorite boo tao will be with you! so let's enjoy the time we have together, until we die!"

zhongli’s ideal s/o would be quite different from him. i could really see him with someone loud and charismatic, opposed to his quieter behavior.

i don’t think zhongli would want to date anyone from liyue. i feel like they see liyue’s people as their descendants and that would just be weird lmao so it’s a 90 day fiancé moment

zhongli would need someone open-minded. if they’re gonna freak out when they inevitably find out that he’s rex lapis, then he probably won’t even bother. it’s just unnecessary drama that they don’t want to deal with. the point of becoming zhongli was to distance themself from rex lapis anyway.

that being said, zhongli still cares a lot about liyue and its history, so he would really appreciate someone who shares that passion. please ask him to tell you stories about liyue!! it makes them very happy

zhongli would want someone who isn’t jealous or possessive. if you find out about his past relationship with guizhong and you’re insensitive about it, that’ll just break his heart. they love you now, you’d have no reason to be jealous over someone who’s been dead for millennia.

yoimiya would definitely want somebody just as outgoing and energetic as her. it’s not that she has anything against introverted people, it’s just that they wouldn’t be able to keep up with her lifestyle.

she cares a lot about what her dad thinks, so he has to approve of you! i’m sure he would though lol, he’s probably gonna be happy with anyone who makes his daughter happy

yoimiya values someone who will listen to her; not just hear what she says, but truly listen and engage with her. she’s spent a lot of her life being ignored or tuned out and it’s really disheartening for her. she would adore a significant other who loves to hear her talk about whatever’s on her mind.

i feel like yoimiya would be compatible with an artist. being an artist (of fireworks) herself, she would love to be close to someone else as passionate about creating as she is. doesn’t matter if you’re good or bad, as long as you let her see whatever you’re working on, she’s happy!

yoimiya’s love languages are definitely physical touch and words of affection. the latter is pretty obvious considering how much she loves to talk. as for physical touch, she seems like the kind of person to always want to hold her s/o in some way. yoimiya will constantly want to cuddle or at least hold your hand, so if you’re not into that, she’s gonna be kinda upset.

ALBEDO

albedo doesn’t care to look for an s/o and if he ever develops feelings for someone, he’d want them to pursue the relationship first. albedo’s not great with expressing himself, so he would love someone who could do that instead and be patient with him.

i can really see albedo falling for someone from outside mondstadt or khaenri’ah. he values learning about the world around him, and having an s/o from somewhere he’s never been would be beneficial to him. not that he sees you as a commodity though, he just thinks that’s a fun added bonus to who you are.

like zhongli, albedo wants someone open-minded. he has a pretty weird past and is literally made of chalk, so do with that what you will lmao

it's the sixth lunch visit where the awkward situation turns even more suffocating.

"overseer," zhongli speaks up as she turns to head out. she bites back a groan, yet holds her tongue. her gaze moves over to him, once bright eyes dulled with sadness and apathy. "i am planning to go out to lunch with some friends. would you care to join?"

hu tao, ever compliant, can't find it in herself to decline. potential clients, she reminds herself. but, as she sits down at the wanmin restaurant, she can't help but wonder if this is too big of a client. singular. one other person.

previously, hu tao would have taken it and chirped a kind greeting. all business is good business, right? but now, since you've left, hu tao lacks the ambition that once motivated her. instead, she stares down childe.

"didn't you try to destroy liyue?" she asks. zhongli clears his throat. the smile drops from childe's face briefly before he bursts out into laughter.

"don't you run a funeral parlor? it only would have helped your business," childe laughs. zhongli's gaze returns to its typical neutrality and, with nothing else to say, hu tao takes a seat.

xiangling takes their order. she expects hu tao to say something, anything to prank her, yet it never arrives. hu tao remains sullen and quiet. throughout the lunch, zhongli and childe exchange loving glances. even the wonderful tastes of xiangling's cooking can't cover up the bitter flavor of envy in her mouth at the sight of them.

"so, comrade," childe says callously, turning to look at hu tao. "xiangsheng told me you're going through a breakup."

immediately, alarm bells ring in hu tao's head. zhongli takes a sip of his drink as her gaze narrows, flitting between the two men before her. is this... an intervention? by a snezhnayan? a WAR CRIMINAL? hu tao is mildly aghast. if she was feeling like her usual self, she would have applauded zhongli for thinking of a funnier prank than anything she's ever placed upon him. instead, she feels as if she's sitting before two father figures (both a bit unhinged in their own ways, one more glaringly evil than the other). it's weird. it feels... wrong for someone to care about her in this manner.

wasn't that supposed to be your job? she doesn't want the attention of others, just you.

"he wanted me to offer you some advice," childe says. "i am quite experienced in the romantic field, after all."

hu tao doubts that last part.

"but, i have no advice to give! instead, i have a service to offer. we'll both benefit. give me the name of those who have wronged you and i'll personally eliminate them myself! i owe zhongli a favor, so-" childe begins, but zhongli cuts him off with a harsh glare.

"you have broken enough of liyue's laws, childe," he chastises. childe is unperturbed.

"no," hu tao says. she's withdrawing into herself. none of the usual mirth of this conversation gets through to her. instead, she stands up.

"thank you for lunch, but i have to return to work."

she walks away from the two, despite zhongli calling out after her.

hu tao doesn't return to work. instead, she walks to the coast of liyue harbor and sits down on the edge of the piers. the scent of the ocean is calming and the bustling noises of trade are familiar to her. here, in this secluded spot, she can be away from the pitying eyes. she knows she's changed. she no longer pranks others. her joyous tunes of poetry no longer erupt from her.

instead, she hums a familiar tune to herself. it's the cadence of the poem she used to tell you all the time.

hu tao has experienced death and loss before, but nothing has ever hurt quite this badly. perhaps it's knowing that she could have kept you if she was more careful that eats away at her. you are all she wants, yet you look at her as if you see through her. the two of you haven't spoken in weeks, yet the pain doesn't ease.

hu tao half-expects a red string to be tied around her finger when she looks down. she knows it would lead her to you. would yours lead to her? probably not. that's why you left her for the other poet, one filled with mystery and intrigue. kaedehara kazuha, a ronin from inazuma. he's valiant, standing up against the raiden shogun at the cost of everything he's known. hu tao stays in one place, performing the same tasks over and over. but him? he can provide you the adventure you always wanted.

hu tao laughs to herself. it's short and it's sweet and she's a bit embarrassed to have done so, yet she's more embarrassed as to why she laughs.

for the first time since the breakup, the first thing she's found to be funny is the realization that you never really loved her. there's no way. if you loved her, you would be hurting in the same way she is. she's changed and you haven't. you're probably making out with the stupid kazuha dude or whatever while she mopes over you.

it makes the pain within her feel so much worse.

she snaps out of her wallowing thoughts as she hears footsteps on the pier. she straightens her posture and corrects her expression to be one of neutrality as she stares out onto the water. yet, rather than turning away as one usually does when approaching the dead end of the pier that hu tao is sitting on, the footsteps approach her.

"hu tao?" a familiar voice asks. icy adrenaline shoots through hu tao's veins at the realization that the person approaching her is you. hu tao's gaze snaps up to meet yours. you look at her with a furrowed brow. in your eyes is the same pity that she always sees in everyone else's.

she hates it.

"hiya, sweethe- (y/n)." hu tao catches herself. you seem nonplussed by her mistake.

"your consultant... zhongli, was it? he told me you weren't feeling well and disappeared off to some place. he sounded pretty concerned," you say. hu tao wants to scream. zhongli sent you here? she has half a mind to fire him, but if her suspicions about him being an adeptus (or something greater) are true, then she can't afford being smited or whatever it is immortals do when you wrong them.

"aiya, i'm not feeling too well, but no need to worry about me!" hu tao chirps. you fail to see through her forced cheery facade, yet you sit down next to her anyways.

"you're looking rather flushed," you comment. "do you have a fever?"

before hu tao can stop you, you brush her bangs away and lay the back of your palm against her forehead to check. she can feel her face flush with heat at the gesture. your eyes focus on her and hu tao feels the familiar feeling of tears at the back of her eyes. she wants you to touch her like this forever. treat her with the kindness that only feels genuine when it comes from you.

"jeez, tao, you're burning up!" you state. "you shouldn't be out at the pier. c'mon, i'll take you home."

you, never one to take no for an answer, scramble up before tugging on her arm. despite her being just fine to walk and certainly not feverish (just in love, even if you've moved on), you loop her arm around her shoulder, making her lean on you as you walk. she hopes the close proximity doesn't give away the rapid beating of her heart.

"so, how has your day been?" you ask nonchalantly as you guide her back to her home. you know where it is. you've been there hundreds of times before. "besides the sickness, of course."

"mr. zhongli introduced me to one of his friends. quite a weird dude, but hey, new clients are never bad, right? he seems like he'd be easy to prank," hu tao rambles a bit with her words, but you don't seem to mind. instead, you laugh easily.

"is that so? you do love pranks," you muse. no, i love you, hu tao wants to correct, but holds her tongue. "xiangling tells me you haven't been pranking her recently, though."

"oh?" hu tao says, as if it's a surprise. "work always comes first and i have been busy recently, but perhaps a surprise is in store for her."

it's a lie. she knows it, but you don't. there's no point in pranking people, not when her thoughts are constantly plagued with you and the loss of love. in this little moment, she can pretend that the two of you are still together, that this interaction wasn't forced upon her by someone overstepping their boundaries. she yearns for you, yet you no longer want her. silence falls between the two of you after you hum an acknowledgment to your words.

"tao," you begin as you approach her front door. "there's something i need to tell you."

"oh yeah?" hu tao asks, forcing her tone to remain even as she opens up the front door and turns to face you. despite wanting to let you in, a part of her knows better than to extend the invitation. you'd only reject it, after all. you look away from her.

"i'm... sorry. i shouldn't have... left you like that," you say. "it was unfair to you."

hu tao holds her breath. is this what she's been waiting for? for you to come back? but wait, why does it feel so... wrong?

"i realize that um... you deserve better than me," you say. "which is why..."

you trail off. this isn't how this is supposed to go, hu tao thinks, but her throat is dry. she swallows thickly. tears begin to well in her eyes and threaten to spill out as you think over your words.

"hey, don't beat yourself up over such a silly little th-" hu tao begins, but your gaze returns to her with fiery resolution in your eyes.

"i'm leaving with the crux fleet tomorrow. the ship departs tomorrow. you won't have to worry about me anymore. i've made my bed, it's time to lie in it."

hu tao could laugh at your choice of words, but instead, she stares at you with wide eyes. she blinks. leaving..? the crux..?

"it's a hasty decision but... kazuha said that when the time is right, we should get married," you say. hu tao feels as if everything is passing her at too fast of a rate. "so i'm going with him."

"oh. congratulations!" hu tao says. her voice is wobbly. you smile, tears welling up in your own eyes.

"i'm sorry, darling," you say. hu tao feels something in her snap at the pet name. she takes a step back, further into the safety of her house.

"i'm happy for you, (y/n)," hu tao lies. "but please, never call me that again."

the funeral parlor overseer doesn't know what comes over her. she closes the door in your face before you can respond. she lets out a shaky breath as she hears your footsteps as you walk away from the entryway.

a choked sob escapes hu tao. why not her? why him? she doesn't understand and, all alone in the home the two of you once shared, hu tao breaks down sobbing, begging for someone, anyone to change the tides of fate that she cannot.

- Hu Tao is wide awake at this hour which her S/O SHOULD be used to at this point.

- She jumps on their bed, startling them as she wraps her arms around their waist.

- S/O sits with Hu Tao as she happily slurps down the noodles.

- While it admittedly looked good, they still were not wanting to be awake right now.

falling in love with 𝐀𝐋𝐁𝐄𝐃𝐎 is like conducting an experiment. just like there are many layers to it, there are many layers to him. you have to be careful, with your measurements and where the both of your boundaries lie and how much you can step over them without intruding into something the other would rather keep hidden. chalk dust and moonlight and sunshine make up his body, something celestial in place of a heart and that star at his throat? all of it is yours, just like how all of you is his. and when you think that you know all of him, he shows you a part of him that surprises you and it’s like you’re falling in love with him all over again.

xiangling quickly appeared at the counter. “oh, hi! i wasn’t expecting you to be here.” she slid a bag full of food over the counter. as you dropped the mora on the counter, xiangling tilted her head to the side in curiosity. “say, are you having a party or something? you’ve never ordered this much food before!” her eyes darted down to the notepad in her hand. “do i have the right order…?”

you laughed. “no, it’s not for me.” pause. “well, mostly.” you quickly grabbed the bag off the counter and with a wave, the sea breeze of liyue rushed past your ears as you ran to the office of civil affairs.

Kazuha

His heart goes crazy when you remember his flowery musings. Usually, people would forget his haikus and pass them off as just wierd mutterings, but hearing you tell him that the mountains of liyue reminded you of that one haiku that even he had forgotten weeks ago, made him feel appreciated and more encouraged to make even more haikus, just for you.

Thoma

When you make him food after a hard day's work. You might only think of it as a way to reward him for working all day, but the taste of your cooking every once in a while never fails to make him feel like a child getting his favourite food for lunch. The fact that you had gotten him this giddy feels like a mystery to him. He might as well put a ring on your finger to get your homemade food everyday.

Scaramouche

You always staying calm despite his rough attitude really gets him sometimes. Although you're quite a patient person, you also aren't afraid to talk back when he goes too far. The thought of you being his so-called 'anchor' makes him feel weak, but he knows that it wasn't your intention, and it's that you simply just cared for him. And he's grateful for that. Huh? No he's not blushing...!

Ayaka

The happiness on her face when you bring her trinkets from all around teyvat is visible to anyone in the room. But the moment you leave the Kamisato quarters, her face will redden deliberately by each passing second. These gifts are hard evidence that you constantly thought about her during your journey. This will get her rolling in her bed at night, for sure.

Kokomi

Hearing your soothing voice while you read out her favourite books outloud while she's resting is one of her most favourite moments shared with you. Seeing you do the tedious task of reading just for her makes her very happy indeed. She'd faint out of embarrassment if you ever find out about how obsessed she is with you though.

Hu Tao

She really loves it when you smile, especially when it's because of her. She makes it her daily goal to make you laugh with her giddiness. Whether it'd be jokes or pranks, as long as she gets to hear your melodic laughter, nothing else matters. She just can't get enough of the feeling of her fluttering heart. It's very addicting, she thinks. Just like you. *wink wink*

A/n: hello! Thank you for requesting! I’m really proud of my most recent toxic trait headcanon, so I’m hopeful that more requests will come in like this one. I enjoyed writing it, because mmm… fuel for angst. But, hope you enjoy, and take care of yourself! Eat something if you haven’t today!

The sun shined right in your eyes as you walked across the wooden bridge. ‘I can’t believe she would do this… again.’ You thought. Making your way to the purple tree, and finding the hidden cave behind it you yelled, “kokomi!”

Startling the priestess from her slumber, she quickly looked around until she found your clearly irritated form. “Yes…?” She spoke softly, you wouldn’t be able to hear her if you were maybe a foot away. “You bailed on me again… we were supposed to have brunch together.”

Her face contorted into one of sadness and frustration. “I’m sorry.” She said flipping through a book in front of her. “I just… am running low on energy.” “oh bull shit!” You said interrupting her, and slamming your fist on one of the nearby tables.

“You always say that! And it’s…” water starts to well in your eyes as you speak “it’s getting old. I just missed you furring the war and now you can’t even spare me a minute of your time unless we’re in a situation like this.” You rubbed your eyes, and you could see kokomi sigh.

“I’m sorry, but all of this is… stressful, and you know that. Being… who I am isn’t easy and you know that” she said looking at you, sadness in her eyes. It’s so pitiful that that’s her excuse, and it’s worse that it’s a valid one at that.

You pondered for a moment, the gears in your head clearly turning. “Let’s break up.” You spoke coldly, tears running down your face. “I mean if it’s too stressful haha…” you were full on crying now, and kokomi is no better. Tears running down her face and staining her book below her.

“No… no no I don’t want that.” She said shaking her head, and standing up. “I want to be with you and I’m sorry-“ “stop it. Because I’ve heard you apologize, and make excuses too many times, so… I’m taking a break.” You said walking out of the cave as kokomi stood there, alone, with nothing more than her books. The once peaceful oasis of a cave, has now turned into the last place she wanted to be.

‘well then,’ smiling, you squeezed her hand.

you saw a small smile form on yoimiya’s face. though she didn’t look away from the bright, flashing fireworks, you could tell that she certainly was aware that you had embraced her hand in yours.

“s-sweetheart-!” you exclaimed, feeling very hot.

“hm?” she looked at you. “my dear, what’s the matter?”

quieting down, you kissed her cheek.

AETHER quickly pulls you into a hug, stroking your head while a jumble of questions spill out of his mouth. if you're unwilling to answer, he doesn't pressure you, but he remains embracing you until you calm down.

ALBEDO envelops you in a warm hug, his blonde strands of hair tickling the top of your head. "i don't know why you're upset..." he murmurs while entwining his hands with yours, "but studies have shown hugs can make people feel better, and that's what i want for you."

AMBER freaks out, cupping your face with her gloved hands and pressing her forehead against yours to remind you that she's always there for you. she even lets you cuddle baron bunny, although she pretends to be upset later that you like the stuffed toy more than her.

AYAKA rarely deals with outbursts like this as the representative of the kamisato clan, so she's not entirely sure what to do. however, she sits beside you gracefully, holding your hand tightly and squeezing it every few minutes as a wordless reassurance that she is there for you.

lightning flashes, thunder booms and the sky begins to darken when BAAL sees you like this. the electro archon wants nothing more than to strike down those who hurt you, but she won't leave your side until there's a smile on your face once more - there's no point in eternity without you.

BARBARA is wonderful at consoling you, and she hugs you warmly before beginning to sing a gentle song, petting your head as you lay in her lap. her voice is mellifluous and comforting, and you drift off to sleep as she presses a kiss on your head, reminding you that tomorrow will be a better day.

at first, BEIDOU may not realise how seriously sad you are, inviting you to come drown your sorrows in some drinks with her. but after noticing how you decline, she crouches beside you and tells you that, "there's no treasure in the sea a pirate could find that's more precious than you are to me."

BENNETT worries that his bad luck has brought you misfortune, but when you manage to mumble out that it isn't his fault, he still sticks right by you. while he's too nervous to touch you and make things worse, he grins widely at you and thanks you for staying with him even when things were rough - "you're the best member of benny's adventure team, and my good luck charm!"

upon seeing you, CHILDE'S mind instantly flashes to every single one of his enemies that could have hurt you, and while he dashes to wrap you in a hug, his thoughts rush to ways to murder those who dared to hurt you. his chin balances on top of your head while his long arms surround you, keeping you warm and seemingly blocking out all your negativity.

CHONGYUN gets very worried, and though he isn't the best at comforting, he lets you bury your head in his shoulder and cry your eyes out. for once, the proximity doesn't make him heat up, because he's far too concerned for you to worry about that. he also offers you an icy popsicle, because that's how he usually cheers himself up, and he wants you to be happy again.

DAINSLEIF panics, but he doesn't show it as he dashes to your side like a heroic knight. he isn't sure how to handle situations like this, so he awkwardly pats your back and says, "you're strong enough to get through this. i... may not believe in gods, but i have faith in you." his starry coat swirls around you both like a blanket, and even though the gestures of comfort feel alien to him, he hopes you know he's trying his best.

DILUC trembles, hand reaching for his vision as white-hot anger rushes through him. but he recalls that you're the priority, and wraps his arms around you. the scent of his cologne surrounds you, and you bury your head in his chest - he doesn't mind when you wet his shirt, and he murmurs a soft "i love you," in your ear as a caring reminder.

in DIONA'S mind, a million alarm bells are going off, and her ears prick up as she hisses under her breath at the thought of someone harming you. to you directly, however, she mixes your favourite drink and offers it to you, muttering, "i hope you like the drink... please feel better soon. though it's not like i care!"

EULA runs to your side, elegance forgotten in the fear clouding her mind that something has happened to you. she isn't very keen on physical affection due to her upbringing as a noble, but now she throws away her hesitation and hugs you while vowing, "i will exact vengeance on whoever hurt you!"

FISCHL cannot find it in her to burst into a monologue when she sees your huddled figure. her gloved hand traces your cheek, and trails a stroke down your hair. oz perches on your shoulder, his ticklish feathers ruffling your cheek, and when you look up at her, the prinzessin offers you a small smile, "as royalty, you're my favourite subject."

GANYU drops all the paperwork she's been carrying, the sheets flying into the air like snow. she couldn't care less about them though, as she plops down beside you, tilting your face to hers with worry glimmering in her eyes. realising you're not hurt, she exhales a sigh of relief and hugs you with a whisper, "i'm here for you."

GOROU is by your side in the blink of an eye, a low growl escaping his throat as he scans your surroundings. his ears are flattened, and his arms are thrust protectively around you. upon sensing the lack of danger, he nuzzles into your cheek, his hair caressing your cheek - he doesn't need words to let you know he loves you.

HU TAO is actually very good at comforting you, though her playful demeanor makes her seem like the opposite. she lets you cry till it feels like your tear ducts are dry, and then she starts cracking jokes. they're stupid, and half don't even make sense, but they put a smile on your face, and when she notices your expression, she grins, "there you are."

JEAN isn't the dandelion knight and acting grandmaster for no reason, she's immediately beside you, uttering sweet words which sound like honey. barely a minute passes and she's already mopped up your tears and helped you calm down with soothing advice and reminders. she even lets you cry onto her shoulder if you'd like, without a word of complaint even when her uniform sleeve is stained with tears.

KAZUHA hugs you tightly, the type of hug which feels like he's never going to let you go, the type of hug which feels like you're going to be okay, that things will get better. even his fountain of poetic speak dries up now as he pulls you impossibly closer, "you will be okay, and you'll come out of this stronger than before."

KAEYA can relate all too well to your predicament, he sees himself in your tears and shaking figure. so, he held you the way he's always wanted to be held, with your head in the crook of his neck as you sob quietly. for once, he doesn't make any sly, flirty comments, he stays silent as you cry. but once you've calmed down, he teases you by using his vision to make his hands, which are still holding you, freezing cold.

while KEQING may primarily be a busy woman in charge of running the nation, that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to handle emotional issues. she sits beside you, one hand sliding to hold yours as she starts telling you about her day to get your mind off the problem. it works, and when you've calmed down, she's the perfect person to get advice from about your troubles.

KLEE is quite confused, but she does her best to make you feel better. "hey, would you like a hug? my mom always says those help put a smile on anybody's face! or maybe we could go fishblasting? that definitely makes klee smile! klee wants you to smile again, so let's go!"

a small hydro fish wiggles in front of your nose, and you already know that KOKOMI is in the room with you. as she kneels down beside you, her hand cups your cheek, and her sea blue eyes, shining with concern, meet yours. a small smile curves her lips, "you're so strong, you know that? i'm proud of you."

LISA pulls you into a hug, placing her chin on your head as she rubs comforting circles onto your back. she never says a word as you sob into her torso, but once you've cooled down, electro energy begins to fizz around her fingers, "so, who did this to you?"

LUMINE silently sits beside you, one arm wrapping around your shoulder to pull you close, letting you lean against her for stability as you cry your eyes out. it's not much, but she doesn't move, and honestly that helps remind you that she isn't going to leave you alone. she's also a very good listener to vent to, as she will never interrupt, and only offer advice if asked to.

when MIKO caught you, you thought she would laugh at you. however, her reaction was the polar opposite, as she made you a cup of tea and sat beside you before beginning to read a book. once your sniffles had quietened down, she turned to you, "now, would you like to talk about it? i've got the next millenium to listen."

MONA is quite awkward in terms of dealing with people, distancing herself from people due to her status as an honourable astrologer didn't do much for her social skills. however, with you, she crouches beside you and pats your head, "are you okay?" she's even kind enough to spend her hard-earned money on you, and she's always strapped for cash, "hey, i just got some money. would you like to go out and eat? my treat."

NINGGUANG may be the tianquan, but you will always come first, you're just that important to her. when she sees you crying, she tilts your face upwards and swipes her thumb across your cheek to dry your tears. she then proceeds to hug you and pat your back, "you know you can tell me anything, right? also if you want anything that might make you feel better, just say the word and i'll buy it."

NOELLE sits down beside you, placing the basket of laundry she was carrying on her other side. she hugs you, and the warmth you feel chases away your last remnants of sadness. it's even better when she says she'll cook your favourite dish to help cheer you up, noelle would do anything if it meant you would feel better.

QIQI has zero clue what to do, so she crouches beside you and just... stares at you for a few minutes. however, the next moment, she extends one hand and pets your head, "qiqi wants y/n to smile. come, qiqi will take y/n to look at finches. finches make qiqi happy. qiqi hopes they make y/n happy too."

RAZOR nuzzles into your cheek and neck, his fuzzy hair and hood tickling you and prompting a laugh to escape your lips. he looks up at you inquisitively, tilting his head before saying, "y/n, don't be sad. razor... go hunt meat for y/n. y/n is razor lupical." razor hopes you can understand what he's trying to tell you, because he wants to help you in any way he can.

although distant to everyone else, ROSARIA actually pats your back and stays beside you while you cry. she doesn't say anything, because she isn't that good with comforting words unlike all the other nuns, but she stays. and her unmoving presence is enough to send you into tears all over again, because she mutters a promise to you, "i won't leave, no matter what."

SARA is definitely not the best at displaying affection, but for you, she always puts in as much affection as she can. when she sees you crying, anger causes her to clench her fist, but she hides it and rushes to your side to give you a warm hug, pressing her cheek against yours, "you're not alone, okay?"

SAYU is clueless as to what to do to comfort someone, so instead she just grabs your hands and says, "come on, let's go have a nap. people always think clearer after they sleep on it." she doesn't mean to be blunt, she just genuinely thinks that sleeping will help you think of other solutions to your problems.

SCARAMOUCHE starts cursing loudly and threatening murder at the top of his voice, it's likely that people on the other side of teyvat could hear him. after proclaiming how he's going to murder whoever did this to you, he rushes to your side and hugs you tightly. it's a hug which conveys everything he can't say out loud, 'i hope you're okay.'

SUCROSE is very distressed, as she plops beside you and starts fidgeting with her fingers while her other hand massages repetitive motions onto your back. after a minute, your sobbing is unbearable for her, because she hates you being sad, so she tries to distract you by talking about alchemy. spoiler alert, it works, but the combination of her voice and the rhythm of her massage caused you to fall asleep in her lap.

THOMA is the number one fixer in inazuma, and this applies to emotional problems too. in the snap of a finger, he's prepared your favourite food, a tissue box and his attention, in case you'd like to rant to him. he's always willing to listen, and most of the time his advice is actually quite good, and he also gives great hugs.

when VENTI sees you sad, his archon side takes over. instead of just being mischievous, he also becomes more understanding and caring. he lets you lie on his lap, humming the melody to your favourite song softly while his hands stroke your head. when you've calmed down, he's also skilled at making silly faces to try and get you to laugh.

XIANGLING disappears after shoving guoba in your arms and telling you he's great for hugging when you're sad. a minute later, though, she reappears with a brand new plate of your favourite food, whipped up by her specially for you. she'll feed you so that you're too busy eating to worry about crying, and soon enough your sadness is chased away by the amount of love she adds into her cooking.

XIAO is definitely not the best at dealing with emotional situations, but he's been reading up on how to interact with mortals. so when he sees you like this, his first instinct is to hug you, which he does. when you sob into his shoulder, he's not sure what to do, so he pets your head before whispering so softly you can barely hear it, "you've defeated far worse things than this, and you will continue to be the strongest mortal i know. i believe in you." he also polishes his polearm in case he needs to break his 'no harming mortals' rule.

XINGQIU lets you lean on his shoulder and cry, and he also keeps one arm around your torso as a symbol of how much he cares for you. with his other hand, he reads his current favourite novel out loud to you, and if you're lucky, he'll even go off on a tangent about how he would have written this scene if he was the author, as well as explain almost every scene in painstaking detail. by the time he's done, your head will be spinning so much you won't have any energy to waste on being sad.

XINYAN hugs you and strokes your back as you sob. she's moderately hot thanks to her pyro vision, so a hug from her is the definition of a warm hug. she even strums her guitar while singing the lyrics to your favourite song softly, like an acoustic cover of it which helps you relax and realise that maybe your problems weren't as big as they first seemed.

YANFEI lets you lie down in her lap, gazing up at her with tears glittering in your eyes. whether or not you're still sobbing, yanfei holds your hands with a reassuring smile and starts narrating her day, going into detail about all the interesting cases she's done before. and if she sees you getting sleepy, tired after all that crying, she starts reciting liyuean law, which of course sends you off to dreamland in seconds.

YOIMIYA is full of energy, but when she sees you sad it's almost like all that energy got zapped out of her in a second. she's by your side immediately, cupping your cheeks and checking you all over to see if you're hurt while speaking a million sentences a minute. it would be overwhelming if it wasn't just her way of showing how worried she is for you. that night, you can be sure yoimiya releases a custom firework just for you, in the shape of a smiley face in your favourite colour.

ZHONGLI may have lived for centuries, but as a mortal he is at a loss for what to do in a situation like this. however, he tries his best, and lets you lie on him wherever you choose; be it his shoulder, lap or chest. he's very attentive to what you want, so if you want a tissue he'll fetch it immediately, and he does anything you want until you calm down. it's adorable to see, honestly.

hi! this was my first time writing drabbles of this magnitude for this many characters, and it took about 3 hours T_T regardless, i hope that this is a fic which helps cheer you up, and that you revisit it whenever you're feeling sad, bc that was the whole point of me writing it - i wanted a fic which catered to almost the entire genshinblr community :)

reuniting with them — mondstadt edition

diluc

diluc was not a night owl. it wasn’t his thing, he liked to be fully rested; especially with you by his side. but the night before you left to sumeru for business reasons, you were up with diluc until the sun rose just talking.

“i have to leave in a few hours,” you chuckle, tracing the rays of sun that illuminated diluc’s figure in the bed next to you.

he softly groans and rolls over to look out the window across the room. “oh… i didn’t realize the sun had come up. how rude of me to keep you up all night before such an important day…”

“no, i… i enjoyed it. even though i think you dozed off a few times.”

diluc saw you off and had people accompany you to sumeru, and was left with a strange, empty feeling in his chest. it was heavy, overwhelming.

how dramatic. he thinks. they’re only going to be gone a few months.

months. at first, it didn’t feel too horribly long to diluc. but with you gone, time seemed to slow down, going at a snail’s pace. on week 2 without you, he could’ve sworn it had been a month. it was hard to focus on his work. all he wanted to do was write to you and see how you were doing.

and when the day of your scheduled return came, diluc couldn’t shake the nervous feeling he felt. it felt as if he was going to see you for the first time. he was so excited he could barely contain it.

“well, master diluc looks awfully happy today.” you say, walking to where he stands outside the winery.

diluc nearly chokes on his grape juice, barely catching the glass in time when he hears your voice. “i wasn’t expecting to see you just yet,” he says, coughing to clear his voice. “welcome back, my love.”

amber

if you ever need a helping hand, a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to listen to you rant, amber was the one who was there for you. she was one of the most important people in your life, and it made leaving mondstadt so much harder. you originally stopped in the nation just to rest for a bit before continuing your journey to liyue, but after meeting amber, you kept delaying your travels. the days leading up to your departure were melancholy. amber was the same giggly and bubbly girl you knew, but you always saw how her smile faded when she remembered that you’d be leaving soon.

“i promise, i’ll be back someday. and i’ll never leave again.”

your words stayed in amber’s head. she heard them every day, every time she thought of you. she prayed every night that you’d arrive back the next morning, but it felt as if you never would. and her prayers eventually stopped.

just for you to show back up the next morning.

as she was hanging up flyers around the town, she heard someone call out for her.

“hm? do you need me for something? i can help you right after i — (y/n)?” after realizing it was you, she threw your arms around you, nearly throwing you off balance. “you’re back? already?”

“i couldn’t stand to be away a second longer than i had to,” you admit. “things just weren’t the same without you…”

albedo

albedo hadn’t realized how important you were in his life until you left. he felt empty. he’d turn to talk to you just to realize that you were still gone more times than he’d like to admit. the bed he sleeps in feels so empty without you, and he feels as if it’s much too big for one person.

being able to write to you was nice, but it wasn’t enough. he so badly wanted to be with you again, hold you, hear your voice.

but that was selfish. he knew that all too well, so he often told himself to be patient. you’d be back soon, and if you ever had to leave again, albedo would surely be by your side.

the shock on his face when he saw you in his lab when he returned from a sudden, and quite frankly, pointless meeting with the knights was priceless. it made sense now why he was called down to the city so suddenly.

wordlessly, albedo walks to where you stand and takes

you into his arms, sighing. “i didn’t know you’d be arriving today… i would’ve made plans if i did. i would have made your favorite food and we—“

“shh,” you shush him. “just having you here is more than enough for me.”

jean

despite writing to and receiving letters from you, jean couldn’t seem to fill the hole in her heart that you took when you left. she felt so selfish wishing that you’d come back when you were off doing bigger and better things that would help you achieve your goals.

and somehow, the people of mondstadt had figured out that you had returned to the nation before jean did. and as soon as she learned that, she made a b-line straight to where she knew she’d find you.

windrise, where the wind was the most refreshing. the place where you had spent many afternoons with jean after being able to drag her out of her office. she made her way to where you stood by the statue of the seven.

“(y/n)…” she says softly. “why didn’t you tell me you were coming back so soon?”

you grin. “i wanted it to be a surprise.”

she chuckles, pushing a loose strand of blonde hair behind her ear. her cheeks are flushed as she’s overcome with emotion. “i missed you.” is all she can say as she wraps her arms around you, hoping she’ll never have to let you go again.

Hairdryer with Rosaria

Summary: Rosaria as your big sister, pure fluff, light angst.

7:53 p.m. a Friday evening

A friday night, that left you exhausted deep down to your bones. Work could have been busy that day, with your boss nagging over your poor work performance, or you faced shitty customers who left you raging and seething, while you had to deal with them nicely.

Or maybe it was because of school, where you had so much to do. Maybe homework was piling up, maybe your teacher was a complete jerk today, or you had a fight with your friend.

Or maybe your boyfriend/ girlfriend was a jerk, who left you upset, unsure, unhappy. It could be an unpleasant fight. It could be how you feel that they don’t make you uncomfortable. Or they said something hurtful and you’re hurt.

Whatever it was, you were left exhausted. All your thoughts were focused on just getting home and laying on your bed, wanting sleep to claim you into the darkness, away from this tiring day.

As you make your way up to the path leading to your house with your sister, Rosaria, you were surprised to see that the lights were on. Rosaria was one who was frequently out at night, rarely at home by the time you were home.

“Where are my keys, where are my keys…” you mumbled as you rummaged through your bag, searching for your keys.

*Creak* The door opens, revealing the shape of your older sister, Rosaria. With a wave of her hand, she beckons you in, welcoming you home.

“Have you eaten?” she asks. You nod wordlessly, immediately walking into your room and plopping on your bed.

Laying on bed often leaves your thoughts free to wander, and so your thoughts wander, wondering about your troubles earlier during the day, about how you felt so helpless in the face of it, how you felt as if the world was just so painful, and how you just wanted to sleep it off.

That is, until you felt someone pulling you off your bed.

“Sis- I mean, Rosaria, could you stop pulling me? Wait, why are you even pulling me? Let me go! The friction is painful- Gah!”

She had unceremoniously dropped you onto the floor after dragging your butt (literally) on the floor.

“If you want to go and sleep, at least take a proper shower before you do. Your bedsheets will stink, and I will have to deal with it. What a drag.”

Grumbling, you thank her for passing you your towel, made your way back to your room to grab some clothes, then went to the shower.

Ahhh, that shower hit all the right spots! Just need to go dry my hair, and-

“Y/n. Come.”

Your sister was holding a hairdryer. In your room. With the hairdryer plug connected.

“Sis, I don’t think you have to, I’m old enough-”

Rosaria uses her death glare. (It’s super effective! -J)

You immediately just sit in front of her. Your sister could be very scary when triggered.

The hair dryer buzzes, but you relax, knowing that your sister was just trying to show her care for you.

Her rough yet long fingers thread through your hair, unknotting your hair and smoothing it out. Her other hand angles the hairdryer such that it hits your hair evenly, so that you don’t feel uncomfortable by the heat radiating from the hairdryer.

You stare at your reflection in the mirror in front of you. When was the last time that Rosaria had blown your hair? The last time was probably when you two were younger, back when mum and dad were alive. Ever since then, Rosaria had worked hard to raise the both of you, since all you two had were each other and some inheritance from your parents.

You had grown taller. Your face was now mature, having lost the baby fat you once had during your childhood days. Rosaria’s face now permanently had eyebags as well. And her hair… Well, she had cut it to sell her hair when she was younger. Nowadays she maintains it in a shorter hairstyle, citing that it was “easier to maintain”, in her own words.

As Rosaria continued to dry your hair with an uncharacteristic soft look on her face, you closed your eyes, allowing yourself to enjoy your sister’s gentle touch.

Things weren’t the best, but you had your sister Rosaria, and she had you. And you like to think that it was enough, at least for now. And that was okay.
