I’m out of my head, of my heart, and my mind.
Cause you can run but you can’t hide.
I’m gonna make you mine!
Day 9: A character concept based on an episode of Batman Brave and the Bold; which introduced the Music Meister. Atonal Dissonance (real name: Cypress) would be a (canon noncompliant) villain in the ok ko uni. They are a fae whose power is puppeting people with their siren song. Can be avoided via not hearing them, a sonic shriek, or willing yourself out of it (hard). They don’t play nice, and don’t even cooperate with other villains. Their goals are shrouded in mystery, and no one really knows them personally. They’re genderfluid and prefer they/them pronouns!
LOOK AT MY ROUND BOI!!!! I LOV HIM SO MUCH AAAAA
@yaboy-robin
thank you so much for drawing her again!!! she came out so wonderful!! 💖💖💖
Reference sheet commission for @yaboy-robin !
She was great to work with! I never thought reference sheets could be fun
So! I love my characters. I love their designs! I wouldn't change their designs for the world. But, I got to thinking.
What if I designed my characters today? Like, if they were brand new characters, how would my growth in character design shift the way they look? That's what I did today. Designed some of my oldest characters as if I designed them today. Design notes under the cut!
Covah:
Made him look like an actual drow- not slapping a dark skin tone on him and calling him a drow.
Hair in a ponytail cause, let's be honest, his long ass hair would be easy to grab.
I wanted to keep the facial scar that he got when he first questioned Simone. That's such an integral part of his story. But, I edited it a but to look like the slap that it was. Otherwise? All scars Covah got from Simone are gone. Instead, he has small battle wounds dotted all over his body.
Actually, y’know, put a sword at his hip like he probably would have 24/7
Gave him his legs back. Take them. You fool. You poor child.
Gave him some tattoos! Covah always seemed like the type to have tattoos.
Espi:
Gave him more of a greaser vibe instead of the general adult 50s style. He is a young, Hispanic, working-class American who does not enjoy The Man. He is perfect for the greaser style. But, he wouldn't do all the motorcycle stuff that was common or listen to all that rock. He's a book nerd deep down.
Got rid of his glasses. Why does he have glasses? He is blind. He does not need glasses. Take them off. You fool. You utter moron.
Still tub. Let him be tub.
Simone:
I wanted to give her more of a warrior princess vibe.
She has. A nose. It's a miracle.
Made her dress more adpt for the time period she lived died in.
She has a under jaw, much like Alexandrite from Steven universe. She can lift her front face to reveal a larger, threatening jaw underneath.
Eyeball. She felt a lil bear without four eyes so I gave her one under her skirt.
Sinensis:
Total revamp! I wanted him super cartoony and fun.
Originally I was shooting for something inspired by Picasso, but ended up more muppety.
Orange.
I removed his kitty bits! They just feel very extra in his current design but they've been there forever.
He's still a ball of fluff tho. Best boi.
The crowd's cheers and whistles continued into the dark back crevices of the stage. The stage crew bustled around, too preoccupied with the post-production mayhem to notice the shaking cartoon slip into a hidden area.
Sinensis covered his mouth as he shook like a leaf. Their smiles, their laughter, wasn't it lovely? Wasn't it great?
A small sniffle, a hiccup, and Sinensis slumped to the floor with a sob- burying a paw in his hair and gripping hard. It was a great show- why was he-?
He needed to get it together. He had so much he needed to do. Sign a few autographs, he had a meet and greet soon- had to make sure he was ready for that too, make sure he wasn't forgetting anyone on his list of friends to check in on after shows- no one liked being forgotten, ignore the stares, the whispers, the questions, never stop- no matter what. If he stopped, what was he here for, really? What would have leaving his home to this unfamiliar land be for if he stopped? It was fine. He loved the smiles. The laughter. Making people happy. He was fine. It was all fine.
Sinensis huffed out a shaky breath, moving to get up, before falling back down. He buried his head in his knees and sobbed.
yesssss my clown children hehehe I can't wait to draw them myself! thank you so much again for drawing em!
Clown customs for @yaboy-robin ! Honk honk
The last one is not a gem but it is a clown merchant themed 👀
Time for two new gems for the "replace all canon gems with ocs" au that I've had sitting around for a while. Never had the inspiration to finish them until now!
Stabbingtonite (purple gem; designed by @pocket-gems ) is actually a Siberite. When she was newly emerged, she was presented before Yellow Diamond for inspection.... With Pink Diamond monitoring to learn how to run inspections on gems that warranted the Diamonds' attention.
Pink.... thought the name of this gem type unfitting. And suggested they call them something more fitting. Like Stabbingtonite; since their gemstones were shaped like knives.
Yellow did not find this idea amusing, but the name stuck on this Siberite once Pink was shattered. To honor the lost Diamond.
Antmony (blue snake gem) was assigned to Stabbingtonite as a sort of controller. An interpreter of the Diamond's more complicated orders, and making sure the orders were followed through properly.
The two are a much more competent Jessie and James from Pokemon. Flirtatious at each other, and dancing romantically as they monologue about their opponent's doom. They are very much in love, but have never fused, despite it being legal in this au. They've never seen the point.
These two are assigned to the doomed Earth planet to gather humans for the human zoo. During era three, they break up for a while to find themselves outside of their assigned realtionship. Wanting to figure out if their love was just a product of their assigned roles, or if it was real. They do love each other dearly, but want to use the new lens of era three to inspect the validity of their relationship outside of serving the Diamonds.
Antimony uses they/them pronouns and Stabbingtonite is fine with you calling them she/him/them, whatever.
Tomorrow will take us away, Far from home. No one will ever know our names! But the bards' songs will remain! Tomorrow will take it away, The fear of today, It will be gone! Due to our magic songs!
No-one should ask you for the name Of the one Who tells the story
Believe me, I know. I've sunk pretty low. But whatever I've done, you deserve. I'm the bad guy, that's fine. It's no fault of mine. And some justice, at last, will be served! Now it's time to step up! Or it's time to back down. And there's only one answer for me. And I'll stand up and fight! Cause I know that I'm right! And I'm ready, I'm ready, I'm ready- Ready as I'll ever be!
