remember when in dc #571 bruce got dosed with fear gas and jason asked him later how he coped with it and bruce was like “oh easy i just imagined an even more terrifying scenario, my actual worst fear and snapped out of it” so jay’s like “oh what’s your worst fear” and bruce says maybe he will tell him some other time. and the fear was literally jason dying. the accidental foreshadowing gets me crying weeping wailing on the floor every time.

Two panels featuring Robin Jason and Batman. In the first one, Batman is holding Scarecrow and tying up his hands. Jay is looking up at him in wonder. A dialogue spans throughout the two panels: Jay: “So far, so good. But how about the Scarecrow drug? How’s you overcome that?” Batman: “By replacing the fears the drug nullified with by different fear… The most terrible fear I could conceive” Jay: “Oh, yeah? What was that?”

Batman and Robin are walking away with Scarecrow tied up and dragged on the floor by Batman. Batman: “Maybe some day I’ll tell you, chum.” There’s a faint vision of a tombstone with an epitaph: “Here lies Jason Todd 1974–1986 Murdered by the Scarecrow” A text bracket: “Maybe some day.” “The End.”
