HE CAN'T HELP THE SHORT LAUGH THAT ESCAPES HIS LIPS WHEN THE HORSE PLAYFULLY NUDGES HIS CHEST WITH HER VELVETY NOSE. Epona had been by his side since she was just a filly, and that had created a connection that makes them more than just rider and mount. THEY ARE COMPANIONS. Ones who know each other perfectly and help the other when needed ❝ See? They have their own language, just like us ❞ he begins with a smile, glancing at Kenneth while he pats her forehead.
❝ They pin their ears back when they are angry, they whinny when they are happy, they drop their heads when they are tired... ❞ he explains. They were simple signs that spoke volumes if you were willing to pay attention to them and that now are telling Link that, despite the joy of seeing him, what Epona is really interested in is the smell of carrots coming from him. So he takes one from his pocket and gives it to her, stepping back once she takes it so that the horse can enjoy it in peace.
❝ You just have to learn it, ❞ something easier said than done, even if it came naturally for the hero, since it was indeed a challenge that required both patience and consistency. THERE WERE NO SHORTCUTS, NO EASY PATHS. Their trust had to be earned slowly, one step at a time ❝ and they will not only listen to you but also like you and see you as a friend ❞ which, in the end, was the reward that made every bit of effort worthwhile. For they no longer stayed with you because you commanded them, but because they had decided to follow you.

You got People you know by Selena Gomez !
AND WHAT HURTS THE MOST IS PEOPLE CAN GO FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW TO PEOPLE YOU DON'T…He may have regained a few of his memories. Something that should bring him joy, but instead, it comes with a bitter ache ❝ They were my friends, ❞ he murmurs, the companions meant to stand by his side, fighting together to vanquish the Calamity once and for all. But that wasn't how it ended, was it ? They are dead, and that is a weight that makes him falter. His next words catch in his throat.
His gaze falls, lingering on the ground ❝ and the only thing I have of them are a few scattered moments ❞ Their laughter, their faces, the sound of their voices — ALL OF IT FEELS SO DISTANT. And it is a cruel twist, isn't it ? To remember them again, as if meeting them for the first time, only for those memories to become a painful reminder of what had been ripped away and could never return. Yet the loss doesn't stop with them. It spreads further to the other soldiers of the royal guard in which he had served and every other person who had slipped entirely from his mind, lost to the depths of his forgotten past.
❝ i’ve got time. i’ve got lots of time. ❞
MORNING LIGHT SPILLS ACROSS THE VAST PLAINS OF HYRULE AS THE SUN CRESTS THE HORIZON, BATHING THE WORLD IN SOFT GOLD. The landscape stretches out in quiet solitude, a peaceful expanse of rolling hills and gentle meadows, untouched by the chaos of the past. In the distance, the faint call of birds echoes, their melodies carried by the soft breeze. All the while, beside Link, a stream flows steadily over smooth, polished stones, its surface shimmering in the early light, tracing ripples that mirrored the quiet stirrings of a waking world.
❝ I'm almost ready ❞ he murmurs, aware of the subtle impatience laced in the other's teasing tone. Still shaking off the last traces of sleep, the knight glances down at his reflection in the clear water to smooth out his tunic, his hands moving over the fabric with a relaxed, almost automatic effort. HE RUNS HIS HANDS THROUGH HIS HAIR, TYING IT BACK INTO A LOOSE PONYTAIL, not quite as neat as usual but functional enough. Then, with a final tug at his belt and an adjustment to his sword, he glances back up, the lingering drowsiness almost gone as he walks over to where he was waiting for him.
Once he reaches him, Link finally asks the question that had been lingering in his mind ever since Kenneth had started to wake him ❝ Why the hurry today ? ❞ His voice is calm, curious, as he tilts his head slightly, watching for a response ❝ Did anything happen while I was asleep ? ❞ he adds, his brow lifting just a little, his tone shifting with a hint of concern. If that was the case, what kind of hero would he be ? It is not a moment where he could afford to let his guard down. Not after everything that had happened.
❝ i am just a lost traveler, seeking rest for the night. ❞
THE CAMPFIRE CRACKLED SOFTLY IN THE HEART OF THE NIGHT, ITS GOLDEN LIGHT CASTING DANCING SHADOWS ACROSS THE SURROUNDING TREES. Link sat cross-legged on the cool grass, the flames reflecting in his eyes as Epona stood nearby, her ears flicking occasionally at the distant sounds of the wild. The scent of woodsmoke mingled with the crisp night air, and the world seemed quiet, save for the occasional rustle of leaves. Suddenly, a faint noise ( too deliberate to be the wind ) broke the stillness. Link’s sharp instincts immediately took hold and he rose smoothly to his feet.
That's how the stranger would find him, standing with calm yet watchful eyes studying her for a few seconds before finally breaking the silence ❝ You are free to stay if you want ❞ the words were as straightforward as they were simple, spoken without hesitation or pretense. It was almost surprising...his lack of questions, his absence of suspicion. But perhaps it wasn't so strange; anyone with ill intent would likely have been far less obvious in their approach. And if you looked closely, his sword, though seemingly out of reach, was positioned perfectly for a quick draw, even if he had stepped slightly closer.
It didn't take long for the hero to return to his spot by the campfire, settling back onto the grass with the same unhurried ease as before ❝ though I'm afraid I don't have much to offer ❞ he said, pausing for a moment before adding ❝ just some food, if you are hungry ❞ while gesturing toward the freshly caught fish cooking over the flames. Their edges crisping in the warmth. It was a humble gesture, but genuine, and he hoped it would be enough. The only other thing he had were a few carrots which were meant for Epona and, therefore, NOT SOMETHING HE WOULD SHARE.
❝ this is your fate. don’t feel discouraged, even in the darkest of times. ❞ ( from zelda ! )
HE MAY HAVE BEEN CHOSEN, BUT THAT FATE WAS FAR GREATER THAN HIMSELF. A mantle of responsibility bestowed upon him by forces beyond his understanding that, at times, seemed almost too heavy for any shoulders to bear. How could anyone in his position not have doubts ? Not wonder the reasons why it was them and not someone else ? NOT BE AFRAID OF NOT BEING ENOUGH IN THE END ? The questions swirled incessantly in his mind, each one more haunting than the last.
However, courage was not the lack of fear, but continuing despite of it. And it was the moment she said those words when the hero felt it coming back to him. Her calm and resolute voice carried a faith that made the path ahead, which was still daunting, now seem a bit less insurmountable. She was the same as him. Both thrust into roles that intertwined their lives with the destiny of their land. She understood what he was going through, he was sure. And that was perhaps what gave her the power to lift some of the weight from him.
❝ I will not fail you nor Hyrule, princess, ❞ Link finally spoke, letting go of her hand as he stood from his knee and regained his full height ❝ I promise ❞ his voice was soft yet resolute, carrying a tone of personal conviction along with the determination, which was now unmistakable in his eyes, that revealed that his words were far more than a mere declaration of his duty. They were a pledge of unwavering commitment, not just because it was expected of him, but because he believed in the cause.
❝ it seems shadow has been moved by light. ❞ ( so there are options! )
IT WAS THE ORDER OF THINGS, HOW THIS CIRCLE THAT NEVER SEEMED TO COME TO AN END WORKED. The demon king had finally been defeated, and the hero was the one who remained standing. As the smoke cleared, he emerged from the haze, with slightly torn clothes and dirt and sweat smearing his face, illuminated by a gleam of blue light. The battlefield, now visible all around him, was a testament to the ferocity of their clash, with charred earth and shattered stones bearing witness to the struggle.
All of his muscles should be resenting from it — begging him from some well deserved rest. Though perhaps the adrenaline coursing through his body was what was keeping him from collapsing right there and then. What was giving him the necessary strength to address the question that had been gnawing at his mind ever since he had learned of the destiny awaiting him ❝ tell me, ❞ the knight began, turning around as he placed the legendary sword back in its sheath when he heard their voice from behind.
❝ is it truly over now ? ❞ Link asked between heavy breaths, his voice a mixture of both hope and doubt. Sapphire eyes remained steady, locking onto those of the sheikah. Their enemy had been sealed but, would it be enough ? And if it was only temporary... how long would peace last before Hyrule had to face such chaos and malice once more ? As he awaited their answer, he could feel his heart pound quickly inside his chest. Yet, regardless of what it might be, he wanted, needed to hear it.
❝ i have a dragon’s temper, that’s all. you must not let it frighten you. ❞
TARGARYENS HAD ALWAYS HAD FIRE RUNNING THROUGH THEIR VEINS, AND HIS QUEEN WAS NO DIFFERENT. It had passed down through generations and to extinguish it would be to rid her of the very essence that made her who she was. A leader who inspired love and loyalty in anyone around her. But fire could be as dangerous as it was magnificent if allowed to blaze without control. As her servant, the knight felt it was his responsibility to shield her from that double-edged sword.
❝ If I may speak freely, your grace ❞ Link began, with the respect she was due ❝ it is not your temper that frightens me ❞ After all, without the strength she seemed to draw from it, he was sure it would have been impossible for anyone, let alone someone so young, to accomplish what Daenerys had. She was the girl who saw solutions no one else was capable of — the girl who had walked into the flames with three stones and walked out with three dragons. How could she not believe she was destined for great things ?
❝ but rather it leading you to danger ❞ her growing conviction in her own infallibility had made her ignore her advisors' arguments more than once. It had blurred the fine line between bravery and recklessness and caused her to step into many risky situations because she believed her fate was to sit the Iron Throne and nothing would stop her before that. Yet fate was a fickle thing, as changing as the wind. And it wouldn't be the first time the world had witnessed the fall of a dragon.
“ what can i do to help? ”
MEMORY, WHAT A FRAGILE THING IT HAD PROVEN TO BE. The calamity, his companions, their failure...One would think there was no way for someone to forget it. Yet, he had, consequence of his way too long rest. Even his own scars had become silent. But now he had awaken again, and he must remember. If only to know and understand mistakes of the past so that history wouldn't repeat itself. If only to remember her...
The Sheikah Slate was supposed to help him in that regard. For the princess had taken photos and he had always been at her side. However, finding the place where said photos had been taken was proving to be a much more complicated task than the knight had originally thought. The only solution he had found to solve the problem was actually quite simple, asking people. So, that's what he had been doing for days and that's what he continued to do when he came across that woman.
❝ Forgive me, I will not take much of your time ❞ and as if his words had been a promise, he went straight to the point ❝ I am looking for this place ❞ Link began, taking a few steps closer to her so that she could take a good look at what he meant ❝ and from what I have gathered it should be near here, do you happen to know anything of it? ❞ surprisingly he found his heart beating slightly faster once the question had come out of his lips, perhpas with the hope that his search would finally be over.
