Digital Plein Air doodling: view of the sea from a restaurant near Piraeus, Athens. Device: nexus 7 (2012), app: artflow
Wip! Another “draw again” meme… done with ArtFlow Studio which is quickly becoming my favourite over Autodesk Sketchbook pro…
[But I'm still looking for an android art app with decent select, copy-paste and fill features: PS is the only one that has select©/paste but no fill ugh and dont get me started on the brush limitation. Artflow has similar features to sketchbook but better, plus adjustment features! Significantly more/nicer brushes, better symmetry options, a smudge tool, layer effects (multiply etc), layer types (duplicate, insert photo), canvas size. I think the only ways sketchbook is better is the deviantart thing plus (slightly) more brush options (max/min size etc).]
Arual the Dreamer leaves Alagadda as she begins the Metamorphosis of her Third Birth.
Drawing random handsome men to cheer myself up.
Captains James Clark Ross and Francis R.M. Crozier posing for a portrait after their return from Antarctica.
(Featuring: JCR's extra fur from that other portrait and FRMC's other best friend, a dip circle)
The original idea was to leave it black and white to give it a daguerrotype feeling, but I am quite tempted to try and colorize it.
Captains James Clark Ross and Francis R. M. Crozier, just back from Antarctica, posing for a portrait.
(I am still falling down the firehole, can't seem to reach the sea. It's embarassing.
The two captains are now living rent free in my brain. Just what I needed. But they are quite fun to paint😊. )
This is just a rough sketch but I am quite happy about how it's turning out. I may have spent way too much time blending portraits, photographs and statues into cohesive faces, but it was worth it.
Study of Antarctic ladscape from a photo. About 45 min on artflow.
It has absolutely nothing to do with my last post. I swear. ( I am lying)
I stumbled upon "The Terror" on Prime a couple of weeks ago and I (predictably) fell into the rabbithole (or is it firehole?) that is the Franklin expedition. And since when I love I paint, here are a couple of sketches of (historical) Francis Crozier and James Clark Ross, best friends and polar explorers.
Lineart and color thumbnails.
The Mad Dreamer, chief Archivist of the Library of Alagadda, Master of the Alchemic Arts. Sworn to the White Lord, Albedo of Alagadda.
The Dreamers that freely roam the Darkling Plain and the people of Celephais and Serannian, who live under King Kuranes call him by many other names :The Lost One, the fool, the forsaken . But more often he is known as the Prisoner, because in his folly he bartered for his life and the scraps of his sanity with his freedom.
He was a Dreamer on a leash, a political advantage to the Faction of the White Lord . He was a cherished tool for his master, feared and respected, until he vanished from the City, leaving behind his citizen's mask and rumors of betrayal.
For Chandra however he was mentor, friend and father all in one, and she would not forsake him.
Concept sketch/ WIP for the Mad Dreamer.

Very random sketch on Artflow. How should I call him?
