Happy birthday to my pal @venus1sg0ne shout out to u legend
This is one of the newest one I've made because... to be truthful, I've been posting old episodes that I had in excess for many months, as I have been busy, but I drew this comic just yesterday! If the art seems different, that's why :)
I sincerely apologize for the April Fool's update I hope you can forgive me...

Binge Version (WEBTOON)
Before the Anger Profile: SANS
Age: 6 years old.
Personality: sensitive kid with a tough exterior.
Favorite and/or signature color: black.
Likes: reading, statistics, solitude, and money.
Dislikes: people, children, school, and pretty much everything.
Description: Sans is Papyrus’s little brother. He is often called a “crybaby”. He is hardly seen without Papyrus nearby. Murder leaves a bad taste in his mouth, but he believes it necessary to live in their society.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Gaster, Siqua, Undyne, Asgore, Papyrus, Toriel, Chara
Before the Anger profile: PAPYRUS
Age: 9 years old.
Personality: charismatic trouble-maker.
Favorite and/or signature color: orange.
Likes: colors, cooking, puns, and exploration.
Dislikes: Gaster, authority figures, and children.
Description: Papyrus is the son of Gaster and Undyne’s rival. He is cunning, resourceful, and always challenging people. Because of this, he gets in trouble very often. Despite his disdain for Undyne, they are quite similar: both are immature, aspiring royal guards, and share the same thoughts on murder.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Gaster, Siqua, Undyne, Asgore, Sans, Toriel, Chara
Before the Anger- episode 54, "Long Journey (pt. 4)"
Alphys- "Are you having a bad hair day? Is that why you don't want me to see you?"
Toriel- "(with a laugh) I don't have hair."
Alphys- "Oh, yeah. Neither do I... I wish I did, though! If I had hair, I would have such intricate styles, a new one each day. I used to want to be a hairdresser when I was a kid, but so little monsters have hair that I concluded it wouldn't profitable. I like science more, anyhow."
Toriel- "(sigh) ...Why don't you come in?"

Before the Anger profile: ASGORE
Age: 40 years old.
Personality: a gentle giant.
Favorite and/or signature color: royal magenta.
Likes: Toriel, gardening, and his employees- all of them. He has no favorites.
Dislikes: murder and humans.
Description: Asgore is Alphys’s kind-hearted boss. Although his stature is intimidating, his personality is cheerful and warm. He is a hopeless romantic, similar to Alphys, and hopes to one day meet Toriel again. However, Asgore is a very troubled man. He is despaired at his kingdom’s state and that his subjects have enforced a “kill-or-be-killed” ideology.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Gaster, Siqua, Undyne, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Chara
Would Gaster Explode If I “Hypothetically” Threw A 64 Crayola Crayon Pack At Him? 🙂↔️ (with the added pencil sharpener, of course!)
Of course I would never discourage that, however, I'm worried if he doesn't explode and then what comes next.
Actually, Papyrus had a similar idea in episode 43 when he threw a red pen at him.
I made a mini comic to test out your theory.
Oh, would you look at that? It wasn't the colors that did it. Weird. I wonder what the science behind that is.
Before the Anger profile: UNDYNE
Age: 9 years old.
Personality: an overly excited, self-assured gremlin.
Favorite and/or signature color: a watery blue.
Likes: warriors, swimming, fighting, and rock-climbing.
Dislikes: humans, Alphys, Sans, and the color red.
Description: Undyne is Siqua’s fiery young daughter. She is an aspiring royal guard and feels no fear- she is the strongest in her grade. She idealizes murder because it makes you stronger, but she’s never killed anyone before.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Gaster, Siqua, Asgore, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Chara
Hi! I just wanted to say that I’m loving BTA so far.
I love how Alphys is the main protagonist. She often gets shafted in the UT community, so it’s really appreciated! I luv Alphys.
Also, I always love to see Gaster in any comic. I also love Gaster too :3. (Not his actions. I’m scared.)
Papyrus and Undyne little rivalry is like watching two puppies fight. Feisty and very different from their usual relationship in UT, but I can also see them becoming friends in years time! (Maybe..!)
Sans is me. He’s probably one of my favorite portrals of sans, due to how different it is, but also due on how much it works.
Also hehe Yuri….Hehe Tall Woman x Short Woman Gehege. >:3
Oh, and I love all of Alphys’ outfits. Polka dots really suit her! :>
Keep up the good work ^0^
OMG this is SO NICEEE EAAHAHAHAJSMSJ
Idk how to convey how much this means to me besides, like... This didn't make my day, it made my LIFE! im so happy thank you 😭❤
I love when people tell me their opinions on BTA bc i live for validation lol
I drew u a drawing out of appreciation : - )
Before the Anger profile: SIQUA
Age: 31 years old.
Personality: a caring, charming, and trustworthy figure.
Favorite and/or signature color: mauve.
Likes: psychology, parenting, statistics, and justice.
Dislikes: abuse.
Description: Dr. Siqua is Alphys’s crush. She is extremely caring and non-judgemental -- sometimes to a fault. She often overlooks bad behavior; however, the only thing she does not tolerate is abuse. She is not afraid to confront possible abusers. Although Siqua does not approve of murder, she is willing to do what’s necessary for other’s safety.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Gaster, Undyne, Asgore, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Chara
Before the Anger profile: GASTER
Age: 30 years old.
Personality: an apathetic, cynical old man. Except he’s not old.
Favorite and/or signature color: grey.
Likes: revenge. And also science… kinda.
Hates: humans, Alphys, loud sounds, children, color, puns, bad grammar, etc.
Description: Gaster is Alphys’s only enemy. He is rude, sarcastic, and the overall foil to Alphys. He is a no-nonsense, realistic, cold person, which extends to his views on pacifism; he believes pacifism is a pipe dream in a kill-or-be-killed world.
Other BTA Profiles: Alphys, Siqua, Undyne, Asgore, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Chara
Before the Anger profile: ALPHYS
Age: 30 years old.
Personality: an anxious chatterbox.
Favorite and/or signature color: green.
Likes: robotics, science, organizing, leopard print, and women ;)
Dislikes: murder, Dr. Gaster, and humans.
Description: Alphys is the nervous protagonist of Before the Anger. She is a perfectionist and a genius, but you wouldn’t guess it from her childish, timid demeanour. She is a proud pacifist.
Other BTA Profiles: Gaster, Siqua, Undyne, Asgore, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, Chara

Webtoon version... Even though Tumblr is better, Webtoon is admittedly more bingeable..
Yes, it's kind of strange, being that majority of these characters hate humans. It's kind of an insult to them.... Oops.
I also drew my human girl, Nimiee, as a monster to mix up the crowd a little.
My favorites? Although I enjoy how dapper Papyrus looks, I would say my favorite is Alphys, with Sans at a close second. What can I say? I'm a sucker for round shape language :)
Who is your favorite?
Nimiee's monster design is based off of her monster disguise in UnderAnger. In Episode 9- The Tattered Tarp, Nimiee uses cloth to cover all but one eye, an old tarp to hide her figure, and dead flowers to look like horns. Obviously, in this world, Nimiee's magic would be flowers/ vines.

Before the Anger side story:
This is the first relevant side story in BTA. It follows Chara as she first entered the underground and her fear of monsters.
Click "keep reading" to read the full side story :)
(1) Chara had no appetite. She stared at Toriel in the kitchen, who hummed a song and bounced on her feet as she crossed to the stove. The same confusion every time. Chara counted the seconds it took for Toriel to remember that her fire magic no longer worked. Exactly six. Toriel laughed to herself and turned to Chara. “Hey, sweetie, would you like to help me in the kitchen?” Chara knew exactly what was going through Toriel’s mind. “Family bonding”
(2) Chara decided to humour Toriel and joined her in the kitchen. She even pretended to smile and said, “Sure, Mother.” and seeing Toriel’s face light up made Chara’s smile genuine. What a stupid woman. Chara stood beside Toriel, looking up into her piercing eyes. Being this close to such a creature made Chara’s hands tremble, so she made a tight fist.
(3) “Here, child, you can cut up the carrots!” Toriel offered Chara a knife with a big smile. Chara’s hands felt ice cold; the knife, the sharp edges catching the light; Toriel’s disgusting, monstrous grin; her claws grasping the handle. Chara raised a hand to her mouth to cover her disgust and rushed out of the kitchen without a word. Toriel watched her leave, a confused tilt in her head.
(4) That night, Chara didn’t eat. Or the next, or the night after that. Toriel and Asgore were concerned, but being that they didn’t know much about humans, they had assumed Chara had a different diet. And in any case, the other monsters were getting curious about Chara’s existence and wanted answers, so they arranged a QnA at the castle- with Chara’s permission, of course.
(5) Today was the day of the QNA. Chara calmed her nerves and looked out on the crowd full of horrible creatures. She had no appetite. Her stomach ached. Her hands twitched. Her mouth curled into a sickening grin. As she approached the monsters, Asriel finally caught up to her side, out of breath. “Are you excited?” Asriel asked, an innocent squeak in his voice. Chara stroked his soft ear.
(6) Suddenly, Chara felt puny and defenseless against the towering, snarling, grinning monsters. They clawed for answers. Chara’s own breath suffocated her. She could hardly feel her feet as they sprinted toward any semblance of safety. But every corner was unknown, full of terrible surprises. Chara collapsed, finally, on a secluded ledge in Waterfall, curled into a ball of sobs and fear.
(7) Chara heard something behind her and jolted to attack. The second before her fist was about to land, she pulled away. It was only Asriel. Asriel was shaken, but continued toward her anyway, his eyes large with surprise. “Why’d you run away, Chara?” Chara caught her breath, soothed by his childish voice.
(8) “It’s hard to… to be the only one of your kind in a big, scary new world. Can you imagine if you landed in a world with only humans, no friends?” Chara explained. Asriel paused for a moment, then sat down in front of her. “You have me! We are friends, right?” Asriel held his breath as he waited for Chara’s response. Chara smiled and pet Asriel, “Yeah. It’s just you and me against the world, buddy.”
(9) Toriel searched for Chara and Asriel, the worst in her mind. She worried this would happen, with Chara skittish behavior around other monsters. Finally, Toriel found them in Waterfall. When she asked what happened, Asriel stood up and said “Chara and I wanted to go for a swim.” Toriel furrowed her brow. Asriel was only six years old, he had never lied to her before. Asriel clutched Chara’s sleeve with a nervous smile.

Alphys, I think that kinda borders on immoral...

That was the end of that side story! Also, the end of "Looooooong Story" saga... Kinda.

Chara installing manipulation early in the game lol
The BTA-Gaster-hate club is, in my head, growing exponentially every episode. Or maybe reading Before the Anger is an automatic enrollment into the BTA-Gaster-hate club. Idk, my friend still likes him for some reason....

There's an interesting contrast of the side story and the comic: the charming past vs. their looming future.

Before the Anger side story:
I recently finished the first side story, which was just a test and hardly contributed to the episodes themselves. Now that it's done, I'm making a post where you can read it all in one spot instead of having to flick through all of the links.
Click "keep reading" to read the story! ;)
(1) Elaine was nothing but a small, barely-teenage girl when she stormed to Undyne's doorstep in search of refuge. She knocked at the door with the tips of her feet and waited for a response. She waited all night.
(2) Elaine heard footsteps behind her and quickly shot up off the doorstep. An unsuspecting Undyne stepped into her yard to see the young girl standing defiantly.
(3) Undyne noticed Elaine's eyebags and, being well acquainted with young, aspiring royal guards begging to be taught, smiled and said, "Have you been here all night?" Elaine stared, stone-faced. "Yes. I need to talk to you."
(4) Undyne titled her head and spoke humorously, "You're not trying to challenge me, are you?" she was referring to Elaine's poor condition; exhausted, dirty, and somewhat wounded. Elaine shook her head. Amused and mildly concerned, Undyne invited the strange girl into her home to chat.
(5) Undyne gestured for Elaine to sit and she awkwardly obliged. "So, a random armless kid I've never met wants to talk. I have to say, I'm intrigued" Undyne said between a laugh, setting her coat and bags on the ground.
(6) "My sister stole my arm prosthetics... and she died with them." Elaine explained. Undyne's tone immediately shifted from lighthearted to serious. She sat across from Elaine and cleared her throat, "Well, I'm sorry for your loss."
(7) “Actually, that's kind of what I wanted to talk about. I ain't got any more family left… You're kind of my last option.” Elaine bounced her leg nervously, intimidated by Undyne's stature. Undyne scoffed and raised her eyebrows, “Well, you must be pretty desperate considering we are strangers.”
(8) Elaine temporarily lost her determined posture and mumbled, “Yeah…” There was silence as they both recollected themselves. Undyne broke the quiet, “I was… in a similar position when I was a kid, about ten. I know you don't want to hear this- I know I didn't- but… you gotta get a caretaker.”
(9) Elaine recoiled subtly. She was dreading those words. Leaning back in her chair, Elaine said, “I don't want some royal stranger taking care of me.” Undyne shook her head, “Nobody does, but-” Undyne paused and quickly raised her hand to her mouth like she thought of something.
(10) “I do know somebody who recently became a caretaker.” Undyne continued, “He's one of the sweetest, most understanding people I've ever met. He's been having trouble even finding somebody to take care of since most children, y’know, run. Kinda like what you're doing.” Elaine sighed, “Okay… and who's this ‘wonderful person’?”
(11) Elaine jumped out of her chair and exclaimed, “PAPYRUS!? He's a caretaker?? When did that- how did that-” Undyne stood up to calm Elaine down. “It was very recently. I can pull some strings with the royal caretakers, easy. But do me a favor and don't mention me to Papyrus when you meet him, okay?”
(12) Seeing as the conversion was finished, Elaine started to leave, but was stopped by Undyne. “Wait,” she said, “I need a name to refer to you as.” Elaine made a dreadful sigh, knowing this question would come up. “Legally? ‘Elaine’. But nobody has ever called me that before.”
(13) “So what do they call you?” Undyne asked. Elaine shook her head and started a list, “Kid, Armless, Trippy, little Jailbird… really anything you can think of. It was the same with my mom and sister. I never even learned what their real names were.” Undyne tilted her head, shocked, “What a strange tradition. What about you? What do you WANT to be called?”
(14) Elaine had a stupid look on her face; brow furrowed, eyes wide. She had never been asked that before. Elaine inhaled, fixed her face, and looked Undyne right in the eye, “Elaine. I want to be called Elaine.”
(15) So she was. All through the process of being assigned the caretaker, people looked right at her and called her “Elaine.” She’d never felt such a feeling before. All the way to Papyrus’s house, hearing the door open, seeing his face. He smiled and said, “Elaine, it’s nice to meet you!”
(16) Elaine and Papyrus had gotten to know each other. Months had passed. They were close, like an older, responsible brother and a found sister. Papyrus wasn’t what Elaine had expected. He didn’t try to be a “father figure”, but his presence brought the same comforting energy anyway. But there was one question Elaine had: why would Papyrus quit being a royal guard?
(17) One day, Elaine had come back from royal guard training with the question burning in her mind. She mustered her courage and asked, “Papyrus, why did you… quit?” He was sitting on the couch and slowly turned to face her, like he had expected it. He sighed, “I assume they’ve taught you all about the Goddess?” Elaine raised her eyebrows. This was not the answer she’d expected.
(18) “Of course I know about her. She’s the basis of the entire royal guard!” Although it wasn’t relevant, Elaine felt compelled to say, out of pride, that, “When I was 10, I met her! Well, I think. I’m not sure, but she looked pretty human-like.” Papyrus stood from the couch and smoothed his jacket, “I met her too. Before everyone knew she was the… fallen one. I didn’t have the knowledge I do now and…” Papyrus looked uncomfortable, “Well, let’s just say, if she ever comes back, she’s not gonna be very happy with me. So I left the royal guard. I don’t deserve to protect her.”

Wooo! Chara is finally here! Gaster as a young adult is a lot like Alphys. Does that means something?
If you noticed, the year is wrong in this episode because it was the New Year and I forgot to change it. Also, there aren't any New Years specials in this comic because New Years is the only cannon, important holiday in BTA. That might make for some confusing timelines in the future, maybe a valentines special right before the cannon New Years lol. I guess I'll call the holiday specials uncannon.

Papyrus is thinking of the other meaning of "holiday", which usually means "weekend".
Not to get too personal, but I modeled this episode after my own childhood, and while I was drawing this it actually made me emotional. Me and my siblings would search for trash and give it to each other for a makeshift "Christmas" (I'm not religious, so I wasn't celebrating anything.) I relate to these little skeleton boys more than I should lol
On a positive note, this is the first episode exclusively featuring Sans and Papyrus!
Anyway, now we can get back to that egregious cliffhanger (I'm still sorry, that's just how the schedule panned out)

I'm sorry... I made art for something that isn't going to happen for a long while in my comic. Grillby is in Before the Anger, but it is mainly his daughter that makes any appearances. They are mainly only for comedy purposes (his daughter is also named Grillby.)

Cliff hanger! And, spoiler, the cliffhanger won't be resolved next episode because there's a Holidays special... But, after that, it'll be back!
This is episode 40! That means theres only 10 episodes until we are caught up with the WEBTOON. Once we are caught up, I will be posting them at the same time: every Thursday normally around 12pm but things happen lol. It'll be sad to say goodbye to daily-ish posting, but oh well! It may give me more time to make official art of this story, which tends to do better on tumblr.
No side story today, since we finished that last one. The next side story will start on episode 42. I'm very excited for it, and you should be too :)
