I feel called out-
I made a what the fandom thinks of you generator
are you living or are you just jumping from one obsession to the other to run away from yourself
My newly arrived hyperfixation on Welcome Home inspired me to create this
writing fanfic like “am i getting the dynamics of this friendship right?” “would this character actually say this?” “what is the proper ratio of kindness to sass?” “am i falling prey to overused fanfic personality shortcuts or is this a canon trait?” “am i overthinking this so much that i will grind to a standstill out of sheer terror?”
Goal: write short one-shot
me: Instructions unclear, have written over 3000 words with no signs of the plot wrapping up
or
goal: write long multi-chapter saga
me: 100 words, take it or leave it
Me: Come on brain, write.
Brain: I know what’s going to happen next!
Me: That’s fantastic, but for the sake of pacing can we work up to that point?
Brain: Yeah. We could. Or, hear me out, I can tell you every single detail of the next part and we won’t be able to focus on the current point of the story and we’ll get really frustrated because we know where we want to go but don’t know how to get to it.
