Curate, connect, and discover
- Technically combined with the shapeshifter dream au but whatever
- Dream is a shapeshifter that got discovered and was hunted down as a cryptid for a long time. No matter what he turns into, the mask stays on his face.
- He managed to blend in with a pack of wolves to get far away enough to not be regonize, but got injured during all his adventures and eventually woke up in a rescue shelter.
- The shelter “Rescued” him because of the mask stuck of his face covering his eyes. They tried to get it off, but once they realized it was physically attached to his face they thought “oh you poor thing” and made him a permanent rescue. Great.
- Dream stayed long enough to get healed, but the first chance he got he knew he needed to escape. And the easiest way to do that was to get adopted so the shelter wouldn’t look for him. Enter George.
- George in the au is pretty clumsy. No matter where he is, trouble always finds him. Brush with lava while mining, encountering creepers outside his door, etc. His friends Sapnap and BBH have pretty much banned him from anything dangerous out of fear of him dying (permadeath au). So to make him feel better about being stuck at home whenever they do something dangerous, they got him a dog. A rescue so he could take care of something.
- and of course, Dream was there, dragging three attendants by his leash trying to get into the adoption area because like hell he’s staying there for the rest of his life. He forcefully cuddles up to them, they end up adopting him and because of the stupid mask, the shelter’s gonna be checking in for six months to make sure they take care of him.
- needless to say, Dream is pretty much done with this ‘Adoption’ business, but pretending to be a rescue dog while planning his run away is better than being hunted down as a human and constantly avoiding bear traps.
- Then he meets George, and my god is this human always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Pillager raid while everyone’s out mining? Yep. Out collecting flowers and fell into a ravine without blocks? Happened. Creeper outside the house in just the right spot that he won’t see it till he opens the door? Every other Tuesday.
- It feels like every time Dream is close to escaping, George immediately gets into a situation with something hostile or dangerous. Which is frustrating because even though he wants to escape, he still has a heart and isn’t willing to let some innocent person lose a limb.
- Eventually, Dream has to face the fact he’s gotten too emotionally attached to George to leave. He becomes his protector because at this point, the boy’s gonna die without someone making sure he doesn’t fall into potholes.
