i have come to find out that fanfic writing is NOT as easy as academic writing and that i am a terribly slow writer 😭 yesterday i managed to muster two (2!!!) paragraphs after damn near two hours it’s so cooked chat LMAO

F1 AU yapping :3

“viper” is what fans and media have nicknamed sabine in my au (she’s an aggressive driver #yass). when she comes back to racing, she is 110% focused on winning by any means necessary and she believes that she needs to shed all parts of herself that will hold her back (her humanity, namely </3). in doing this, she forces everyone to call her viper instead of sabine and adopts her on-track persona 24/7 (she becomes the viper we all know and love today). the only ppl that still get to call her sabine are brimstone and sometimesssss reyna :D

a little detail but prior to her accident, sabine was very popular amongst fans and other drivers, and was a bit of a media darling. she was easy to like!

would naming my eventual F1 AU fic “Vroom Vroom” after the charli xcx song be too on the nose….bcuz i think it would be quite silly and i like silly!

trying to come up with traumatizing and realistic injuries for viper in my f1 au but unfortunately for me (great 4 the drivers irl lets pls keep it this way) f1 has a billion and one effective safety precautions

just to share a bit of my thoughts:

reyna and viper, despite being rivals, were romantically involved in their early years of F1 racing, but they never actually labeled anything. later on in their careers, viper constantly came close to winning world championship, but always fell short. because of this she put all of her focus into racing and became emotionally distant. so, reyna ended things.

@craving-for-chaos has asked for context for the little sabyna snippet i posted so here it is!

the scene is basically reyna breaking the news that sage would be taking her place as viper’s teammate.

in my head, brimstone is the team principal and he’s really the one who brought sage on board. he’s been dancing around the fact that it’s sage viper is going to be partnered with. why?

several years ago (i don’t know how many yet oopsies), during the last race of the season, sage crashed into viper. it was bad for viper, but sage got out with significantly less injuries. you can imagine how traumatizing that was for viper. i mean, it was so bad she had to step away from the sport. and just to make things worse, she was projected to win the drivers’ championship but couldn’t finish the race since well….accident!

back to the scene original snippet! after reyna tells her that it’s sage taking her spot, viper freezes up in shock. she has flashbacks of her accident and overall does not handle the news very well. she’s in disbelief that brim would sign on the person who “ruined her life” (her words, not mine!). that’s who viper’s referring to when she says “how could he do this to me?”

that’s why reyna has to comfort viper. i hope that explains everything well enough! i’m no shakespeare, especially not at 4am LOL but i hope this is somewhat enjoyable to read… if you (or anyone else reading this) have any questions ask away!!!!! this au is starting to take over my brain so im happy to talk abt it :DDD

idk if it’s just the side of tiktok i’m on but shalom harlow has been trending, mainly her old runway clips and an interview clip where she goes “my name is shalom harlow. i’m a model, a muse.” and im just taking this as a reason to share the fact that shalom harlow is my main reference when i draw viper :D

thinking about maybe trying to simplify my art style when it comes to drawing the val agents…..but when i first started trying to draw them my style was simpler and it was so hard to translate the agents into said style…..decisions decisions
