Curate, connect, and discover
🔩 • Andro ! — Today at 7:55 PM ((Yarid does it because he only knows scars from abuse, so he'd assume Johnny went through the same thing. He is very gentle with Johnny's scars ))
Cressi — Today at 8:03 PM (If he told Johnny that, he'd kind of pause and think about all the times he got hurt really bad in battle and dragged himself back to the sunken ship to sow up his wounds, and look at his hook.
He'd say, 'every scar I got was from battle, every injury I took on I always tended to myself. I'd drag myself back from defeat and sow 'em up by myself. I never wanted my men to see me like that. What kind of a leader would I be if they didn't see me as someone strong to lean on? I took care of THEM, they didn't need to take care me ME because I'm tough enough to go it alone…but…when I think about it, are they really badges of honor? How's that any different from you stumbling in and collapsing in the floor when you get beat? Maybe…maybe it is…I think about how I suffered alone because I was too prideful.' Then he'd look at his hook. 'Even when I lost parts of myself. I thought suffering through the pain would be worth it in the end. Maybe I put myself through abuse, too…just never thought about it that way.'
You blew his mind Yarid)
Yaridovich actually making Johnny rethink the context of his scars brings me life. Especially since I think Johnny sees his scars as symbols of how tough he is, of how he survived hard battles and showed true strength by living through them and going through immense pain. I don't think he's ever stopped to think about them in a different context.
Listen, this ship is so good and I must share this because honestly I love this dynamic a lot. Thank you @blueblirdcoffee for making me love them so much.
