“peppermint” ~ marko x reader
As the winter season blossoms and people all over Santa Carla begin to prepare for the holiday celebrations, you find yourself walking amongst nectarous lovers all alone. It dawns on you that you have no one to cuddle with during the seasonal movies, and no one to bring underneath the mistletoe, and even no one to kiss on New Year’s… You decide to get a peppermint hot chocolate to help ease the loneliness that holidays seem to being, but little do you realize a certain charming vampire has an appetite for peppermint as well as adorable and lonesome people~
The cool night air nestled beneath your clothing, disrupting the warmth of your layers. The summer heat was long gone, the flocks of tourists having left long ago.
People still roamed the boardwalk, the place still buzzed with noise. You watched as pairs of lovers held hands and looked so cute with one another- a couple goth girls sharing a tender kiss by the water, a punk boy holding hands with a preppy girl, old lovers bickering softly about knitted scarfs. It made you ache, seeing all the love in the air, and knowing you had no one to share this Christmas with.
But, you took a deep breath and made your way to one of the lonely stands, one that sold warm drinks and a few bits of sugary food.
“One peppermint hot chocolate, please,” you said to the employee, rustling in your pockets for some change.
“Make that two.” You heard an unfamiliar voice behind you.
You turned around, wondering who was intruding on your order. If they were about to make you pay for-
Oh.
Oh shit.
You found yourself gawking at an adorable, handsome boy. He had a mop of messy blond curly hair on his head, the kind of hair that looked nice to run your fingers through. His skin was fair, though the darkness of the night shadowed some of his features- but you could still tell he looked quite attractive. His eyes were a shade of blue that felt somehow both comforting and icy. Despite the cold winter night he wore a white crop top, paired with a beautiful patchwork jacket, and a pair of dark blue jeans underneath some leather pants.
He offered some money to the employee, covering both his drink and your own. He flashed you a warm smile, that had a hint of mischief tucked away in the crevices, “I love peppermint- it’s such a… comforting flavor, don’t you think?”
You faltered, the frantic beating of your heart far too distracting for you to properly form a sentence. The stranger seemed to notice this, his smile turning into a smirk.
“It’s okay love, use your words~” He cooed.
