Curate, connect, and discover

Hoping The Aromantics Find This One - Blog Posts

Maybe I’m just aromantic but sometimes I hate shipping culture online cause like people will ship any characters with a canonically platonic relationship and like yeah I do that too sometimes, but it’s literally every single one and some dynamics just work so much better platonically. Sometimes a platonic bond is more powerful and I hate the idea that making it romantic is making it better. The love isn’t any stronger because you made it romantic, platonic love isn’t a tier down from romantic love. They both have their place and I’m not saying you can’t deviate from canon, like that’s part of the beauty of fan spaces is you can make a work your own. But like maybe sometimes don’t.

I just hate the idea that because you are able to be vulnerable with another person and share a deep connection oh you must be in love with them. This especially for male friendships. I feel like the portrayal of vulnerability in male friendships is so important and sometimes people equate vulnerability with another man as being queer which is lame. Like yes make queer characters, have queer headcanons, but don’t make that vulnerability with other men be the sole reason for that queerness.

I know I sound all serious but this is really a lighthearted post that’s why I don’t use any examples, not trying to attack specific ships at all. I just love exploring the nuances of platonic relationships and such and I wish they were treated with the same respect and value as romantic ones.
