Izuku Midoriya sat on his dorm bed, his legs bouncing as he skimmed through his phone. His phone buzzed with a reminder, and when he glanced down, his blood ran cold.

The Poki Pet.

His eyes widened in horror. “Oh no. No, no, no, no!” he yelped, grabbing his phone and frantically opening the app.

The screen loaded, and there it was—the little fluffy creature you two had been raising together. But instead of its usual happy, bouncing self, the Poki Pet sat slouched over with its ears drooping, big watery eyes staring up at him.

Its hunger bar was nearly empty. The happiness meter? Almost nonexistent.

“I forgot to feed it!” Izuku shouted, his voice filled with dread. His free hand flew into his hair, ruffling it as panic set in. “It’s hungry! And sad! Oh no, Y/N’s going to see this, and she’s going to think I don’t care!”

He scrambled to fix it, fumbling through the menu and clicking on the food button. The little creature perked up as he fed it digital treats, its hunger bar slowly filling.

“Okay, okay, that’s better,” Izuku muttered, his heart pounding. But then he glanced at the happiness bar. Still painfully low.

“Why won’t it cheer up?” he groaned, his fingers tapping desperately to pet the creature. “Come on, little guy, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to forget!”

He tried everything—feeding it more snacks, playing the mini-games, even changing its outfit to something cuter. Nothing worked. The happiness bar barely budged.

“Crap, crap, crap,” he muttered, pacing around his room with his phone clutched tightly in his hand. What if she opens the app and sees this? What if she thinks I’m irresponsible? Or worse—what if she thinks I don’t care?

He stopped pacing and stared down at the screen. The Poki Pet tilted its head at him, as if judging his efforts. “I know, I know, I messed up, okay? Just… hang in there. I’ll fix this, I promise,” Izuku whispered to the screen, his guilt weighing heavier by the second.

Just as Izuku was frantically clicking every option in the app to fix the Poki Pet’s happiness, his phone buzzed again. He glanced at the screen, and his heart skipped a beat.

Y/N: Hey, I’m coming over now! Be there in a few.

“Ahhh, no!” he groaned, dropping his phone onto the bed for a moment before picking it back up like it might help him think faster. His hands flew to his face, muffling a long, frustrated sound that was somewhere between a groan and a whine.

He typed back quickly, trying to seem normal.

Izuku: Okay! See you soon!

The second he hit send, he let out a sharp breath and dropped his phone onto his desk. “Oh no, oh no, oh no,” he muttered, running both hands through his messy hair as he paced. His brain was spiraling.

What do I do? What do I do?! She’s going to see the Poki! She’s going to see it’s miserable, and she’s going to think I don’t care about it—or worse, that I don’t care about her!

“I’m sorry, buddy,” he whispered at the Poki Pet as he looked at his phone, guilt making his stomach twist. “I swear I didn’t mean to forget about you. Please just—just cheer up a little, okay? For me?”

Of course, the pet didn’t respond beyond a tiny sad squeak that made Izuku groan again. He flopped back into his bed and buried his face in his hands.

Izuku rushed to the door the second he heard the knock, his heart hammering in his chest. When he swung it open, he didn’t even give you a chance to say anything before blurting out, “I'M REALLY REALLY SORRY! Please don't be mad at me! I know I screwed up! I accidentally forgot to feed the Poki Pet and now it's all depressed even though I keep feeding it and giving it attention! I know I screwed up, please don’t be mad at me, Y/N!”

You froze, surprised at his frantic outburst, and then couldn’t help but chuckle softly. It wasn’t at him, of course—more at how worked up he got over something so trivial—but it caught him off guard.

“Y/N? Are you... laughing?” Izuku’s face flushed with worry, his expression crumpling like he was about to start apologizing all over again. He opened his mouth, but you stepped past him, already walking toward his desk, where the Poki Pet was still sulking on the screen.

You turned to him, trying to hold back another laugh, but his wide, anxious eyes and flushed cheeks were just too endearing. His face slowly shifted into something more unsure, his gaze dropping to the floor.

“Please don’t laugh at me,” he mumbled, voice barely above a whisper.

The sight of his teary eyes made you pause, and your heart softened. “Izuku…”

You walked toward him, taking his hand gently and guiding him to sit down on his bed. You knelt down in front of him and cupped his face in your hands, tilting his head up so you could meet his green eyes.

“Baby…” you started gently, your thumb brushing over his cheek. “It’s just a game.”

His lip trembled slightly, eyes still wide with worry.

“The game didn’t even cost money,” you continued, keeping your voice calm. “It’s a digital pet, Izuku. It’s not the end of the world. And hey, I checked it before I came in, and the happiness is going up.”

He frowned, the tears that had been threatening to fall finally slipping down his face. Your heart twisted as you wiped them away with your thumb, your fingers lingering on his freckled cheeks.

“You really got worked up about this, huh?”

Izuku sniffled, his voice shaky. “You’re... not mad?”

You smiled softly, brushing your thumb over his lips. “Of course not. Why would I get mad over a little game? We just downloaded it for fun.”

He looked up at you, still a little unsure, but the tears slowly stopped falling as the weight of your words settled in.

“Thank you,” he said, his voice quieter now, and a small, relieved smile tugged at the corners of his lips. “I’m sorry for getting so worked up over it. I guess I just... care about it.”

You chuckled softly and kissed his forehead. “I know, baby. I know.”

You gently laid down beside him, pulling him into your arms so that he was lying down next to you. His head rested against your chest as you ran your fingers through his soft, green hair, feeling him relax against you.

“You got really worked up over this, huh?” you murmured softly, your voice calm and comforting.

Izuku let out a quiet sigh, his body sinking into yours as you continued to stroke his hair. "I guess... yeah. I don’t know why I freaked out so much."

You smiled, the warmth in your chest only growing as you held him closer. “Baby, I just want to say I love how much effort you put into everything. I know how hard you work in training and studying techniques. But there’s no reason why you should be working yourself up to the point of nearly having a panic attack over a silly game that we downloaded just for fun, okay?”

Izuku’s eyes closed as you spoke, his breathing evening out, but there was still a trace of doubt on his face. He shifted a little, pressing closer to you.

“I wanna know what I did for you to think I’d get mad at you so easily. Do I—”

“No,” he interrupted, his voice small and vulnerable. “I’m just scared of disappointing you.”

You gently tilted his head up, your eyes meeting his. You could see the genuine concern in them, and it made your heart ache just a little bit. You leaned in, placing a soft kiss on his forehead before speaking again, your voice filled with warmth.

“Well, you’re not going to disappoint me. Not over something like this.” You paused, then whispered, “Now, why don’t you let this go, and we can just cuddle for a bit? It’s been a while since we’ve done that.”

Izuku’s eyes flickered up to meet yours, and a small smile finally tugged at his lips. “I’d like that... a lot.”

You held him a little tighter, both of you sinking into a peaceful moment together.

It may seem like he overreacted but ngl when i ac cidentally made mine hungry it made me really sad 😂
