so far the series main character has been very different from prior entries in the way that they all have personal motive unknown to the viewer. There were no blank slate character that you can feel comfortably safe being alone in a room with.

So far, upward with the normalizing man slaughter trend, nyan will most likely seek to pilot the gqux again becuase the seek the thrill, "freedom". Machu will absolutely see this as a threat, both to her relationship with shiju and their kirakira but also her worth as a pilot, ultimately proving that shes valuable and needed.
My money is on the tin foil hat that is they both will need to work together to defeat some formidable enemy, unlocking a dual pilot mode of sort.
