For real artemis fowl I'm defo guilty of that fanfiction is another story I've never thought about it before but this post makes me realise I really don't perceive and approach fanart and fanfiction in the same wa writing AF is something I take really seriously I've spent more than a decade of my life obsessing about this character and his psyche and I write to explore it in its darkest details reading fics that don't take Artemis seriously and babyfy him too much are legit HARD to read for me like it hurts my heart a bit and leaves me feeling empty so I can relate to the feeling you're describing there drawing tho... it's like therapy to me I draw to bring myself comfort and softness and to explore a side of my favourite character that I don't delve into that much when I write sorry for only talking about my sorry ass here it's just that I have no place talking for the entire fandom in general but that's something super interesting to reflect upon I think ! introspection as a person and a fandom is always nice ! thank you artifex for sharing that 🙏🏻
