I Hate Whoever Started This - Blog Posts

I love Marry My Husband and all but the one thing I don't like about it is that the mc and the male lead get's told that they look handsome/pretty without their glasses, and pisses me off.

Like they were ugly with their glasses and that's a really hurtful cliche or stereotype, as a person with glasses, this stereotype made me insecure all my life. Like, that I'm ugly with my glasses and people who wear glasses are ugly, their not pretty.

Heck, the mc and the male lead didn't even look that bad, they just need better looking glasses in my opinion.

But in all honesty, it's not like only Marry My Husband is the only one who does this stereotype, a lot of webtoons, anime, manga, tv shows, movies and etc. does this a lot. And I am tired of this shit, the only movie that I saw that doesn't do this is with the Cloudy Chance of Meatball.

One of the main character (i forgot her name, so let's call her blondie) blondie is a person who wears glasses ever since she was a child but now wears contact lenses but when the flin? Or flyn? idk, told her that she looks pretty when she has her glasses on, and that made me really happy.

And I know there are a lot of shows, webtoon, anime and etc, don't do this and have a character who wears glasses, but most of the time, some of these out right tell us that these people are already handsome/beautiful, and there are characters who wear glasses that aren't told by the others that they are handsome/beautiful.

But I just want one show to atleast have a romance where the MC wears glasses, and instead of taking them off and suddenly their all pretty, the MC should just get better glasses the next time they are in need of a change of lenses. Or not, and just let them wear glasses. That would literally be the most beautiful thing ever.

But no, instead we still have people doing this shit.
