The Occupation has systematically destroyed every social infrastructure that makes civil society possible, whether it be healthcare, food systems, or education. They've targeted schools, hospitals, businesses, and every person who supports their community through their profession.
Rana and Ahmed (@ranafam2) are educators from Khan Younis, with Rana as a statistics professor at the Islamic University of Gaza and Ahmed as the principal of his school: both institutions have now been destroyed.
Palestinians have survived occupation for well over a century now, and they will remain steadfast, but they need your support.
Even with the ceasefire, resources are still limited and expensive. The weekly allowance for basic provisions like baby formula and flour is about $1000. Rana is also anticipating additional costs for baby formula, clothes, and natal care as she's eight months pregnant and expecting soon.
Finally with the ceasefire, Rana is hoping to evacuate with her family altogether. The cost of evacuation per person ranges from $5000 to $7000. If Rana gives birth before she can evacuate, that puts the total anticipated cost at $49,000 (5 children, 2 adults).

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. Since last October, Ahmed and his family have faced constant displacement and hardship.
They have lost their income and currently live surrounded by extreme temperatures, scarcity, and disease. Hepatitis B and various skin diseases ravage their health, and any sort of sanitary products are almost impossible to come by.
Ahmed's parents are also both severely ill; they are both suffering from cardiac diseases which desperately need treatment.
In order to secure basic resources and help the sick members of the family receive treatment, they need to raise Β£30,000. So far, they've only raised Β£2,922; they've only had 2 donations in the last 2 days.

We have been displaced eight times, moving from one school to another, and now we are living a life of homelessness and starvation. Even clean water is unavailable. ππ My children are starving and suffer from malnutrition every day, going to bed hungry. I cry for my two-year-old daughter when she asks for milk, which we cannot provide. Her frail body survives on flour and stale bread, deprived of everything. My children crave vegetables, meat, and fruits; we haven't eaten any of these in 10 months, since the war started. Our bodies have deteriorated, our bones have weakened, and my son Mohamed's chest bones have become visible, along with the vertebrae of his spine. He also suffers from scabies due to the lack of cleanliness and medicine. Our bodies are filled with rashes from the heat because we are living with 40 people in a small, overcrowded classroom. My children have been deprived of education, even though they were all excelling in their studies

The crossing through which food enters has been closed for more than 30 days. We have nothing to eat, and even if we do, the prices are exorbitant. Some of the prices listed are:
1 kg of meat = $100
1 chicken = $70
1 kg of fish = $100
1 bag of flour = $200
1 kg of cooking gas = $150
1 kg of sugar = $15
1 kg of eggplant = $20
1 kg of tomatoes = $10
1 kg of onions = $25

Also I am a mother of three children. We have lived through the war for a year and a half, and we have lost everything we own. My husband is a man who did not work. Before the war, I did not have a breadwinner or any source of income. This war wasn't easy at all it has taken many friends at work, students and some of my colleagues at the university. They are almost ten souls I won't never forget . Their laughter, their presence, their love⦠all of it is gone, leaving behind memories that are both precious and painful. Every day, I carry the weight of their loss, but I also carry their spirit, which gives me the strength to keep going.
