characters: spiderman!itoshi rin (bllk) x gn!reader contents: fluff, some jealous!rin, hint of mutual pining, mention of injuries and blood a/n: do spiderman suits have pockets … (not proofread btw) wc ~ 1.2k
spiderman!rin who you’d accidentally come across in the alley just beside your apartment complex, passed out and injured from one of his vigilante shenanigans late into the night.
Deciding to take him in out of pity, you took care of his injuries as much as his torn suit would allow you to before letting him rest in your living room.
spiderman!rin who’d almost freaked out when he woke up in the middle of the night to find himself in a stranger's home, all his wounds roughly cleaned and patched up. Another thing he didn’t expect was to come face to face with his pretty, pretty classmate the moment they stepped out of their bedroom, barely clad in anything except an oversized t-shirt and a pair of sleep shorts.
The both of you gasped in surprise at the sight of each other. Almost stumbling back into the couch he had been sleeping on, a raging blush grew on his cheeks when he briefly took a glimpse at your bare legs. You didn’t manage to utter any words before he dashed out of your window, swinging off your balcony before he disappeared into the night.
Something small and brightly colored fell to the floor. It was a small plastic-wrapped treat that had seemingly slipped out of the stranger’s pocket when he’d abruptly left. You squatted down to pick it up, curiosity gnawing at you further as the identity of this man remained a mystery, for you’d never once touched his mask in respect of his privacy.
spiderman!rin who, as your classmate and deskmate, refused to meet your eyes the day after. Sure, he was still his usual aloof and cold self, but you were beyond confused at the way he actively avoided looking at your face.
“Hey, you still listening?” You’d asked during one of your class discussions, peering at him in the corner of your eye. Rin gave you a low hum as an answer. Wanting to tease him, you picked up one of your colorful permanent markers and uncapped it before reaching over to him.
He flinched in surprise when the sharp tip made contact with the tender flesh between his neck and shoulder, causing the pen to haphazardly drag across his skin. You raised an amused brow, biting down on your lip to stifle the laugh bubbling in the back of your throat. “You’re doodling, Rin.”
The ravenette gritted his teeth as embarrassment coursed through him, noticing the inked cobwebs he’d randomly sketched in his notes. “Shut it,” he’d muttered, his face still turned away as he turned over another page to hide the little drawings.
Who could blame him, really? If he’d spared you even a second glance, a flurry of mental images of you in your nightly pajamas would appear in his mind.
You, in your damn shirt and shorts looking so damn pretty and adorable and soft and he wanted to kiss you so bad for taking care of him—
'Wait, what?' Rin cursed under his breath.
spiderman!rin whose eyes had widened just the tiniest bit when he saw what you’d been fiddling with in your hands. It was a fruit candy, one that he’d received from a thankful little boy after Rin had saved him a few hours before he had winded up on your balcony.
He’d nonchalantly asked where’d you gotten it from, and the way you’d answered oh-so-sweetly, “Oh, it’s just something… from someone amazing,” had him flustering down to his very core.
spiderman!rin who’d seethe and sneer to himself when he spotted you out on a date with some lukewarm guy, that mucky green monster prowling inside him like a rapacious predator.
An empty can had suddenly hit the back of your date’s head? Must’ve been the wind or something. Your date suddenly tripped while he was walking beside you? He must be one clumsy bastard. The street light suddenly burnt out when your date tried to kiss you before he sent you home? Your neighborhood must’ve been haunted…
Yeah, that was definitely it.
spiderman!rin who’d ended up on your balcony that same day for some reason that was even unknown to himself, peeking through the curtains as he tried to hold in the pained grimace at the pull on his wounded skin every time he moved.
He shouldn’t be here, he didn’t want to be here. That first time was awkward enough that Rin had wished for anything else to happen but a repeat of it, especially now after bearing witness to your date with someone else that was not him.
Though ever the astute observer, you noticed him before he could think twice about his questionable decisions, immediately trotting over to open your window for him.
Similar to that fateful night, you’d invited him in to treat all his wounds; the ones on his neck, his chest, arms, anywhere that the shredded suit had given you access to, really, all the while the two of you slid into a comfortable blanket of silence.
This night, too, you’d avoided touching anywhere above the hem of his mask, and he’d left something behind albeit deliberately.
spiderman!rin who had begrudgingly fallen into a routine of visiting you every time he got hurt. You’d open your window for him, wordlessly take care of his injuries before he’d leave a little trinket he’d picked up from his adventures for you and promptly make his way out of your home.
Rin didn’t know what to think of this arrangement; this… weird, dubiously domestic dynamic you two had grown to settle into. And unbeknownst to him, neither did you.
How long did he want to keep the secret, you’d wondered.
spiderman!rin who had been terribly injured after a fight gone wrong, stumbling into your apartment after you’d let him in. You’d almost shrieked after seeing his worse-than-usual state, concern tripping over the pinch of fear that had tumbled into you.
After patching him up the best that you could, you tense slightly when his head lolled down to your shoulder. You were chastising him for not going to the hospital for something this serious but Rin was too delirious with the pain and blood loss, he was barely listening to anything you were saying.
“Sorry, I - fuck, sorry. I-I didn’t get you anything this time,” he’d weakly whispered.
Your breath hitched, heart thundering against your ribcage at his words. You slowly exhaled, hot puff of breath brushing against his cold skin as you squeezed your eyes shut in resolve.
“You don’t need to get anything for me. Just come back safely every time and I’ll be happy to welcome you home, Rin,” you’d murmured.
spiderman!rin who felt your touch creeping up to the edge of his mask, gently as if to ask for his permission.
Rin wanted to ask how’d you find out it was him, but with how exhausting the day had been, he decided it was a problem for tomorrow him to figure out.
And so he let you free him from the confine of his alternate persona before carefully wrapping your arms around his back, pulling him closer as he nuzzled into your neck like a touch-starved cat to seek more of your warmth.
If you were to be honest, though, it wasn’t that hard, truly. The second time you’d treated him, you’d seen the barest part of his neck; the part where you’d drawn on him with your marker by a mere chance.
That measly little line he’d refused to wash off, hoping that it’d stay on his skin for as long as it possibly could. Because, however silly it may be, it was still a trace, a mark left behind by you.
