“Perhaps you have forgotten. That’s one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and he’ll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and he’ll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishman—” He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. “If he ever knew, he has forgotten. ‘Move on!’ you tell us. ‘Move on! Forget what we’ve done to you. Tomorrow’s another day!’ But it isn’t, Mr. Brue.” He still had Brue’s hand. “Tomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.” - A Most Wanted Man by John le Carré
It's almost time for dinner. I have peace at home, on my street, in my corner of this world. But in Iran, who has? In uncountable corners of this world someone is being hurt, being murdered, harassed, tortured, beaten- and the highest probability is of them being a woman, a transgender person, a black person, a economically weak person, a mentally or physically disabled person and the likes of such.
When will it stop?! This relative brutality, this harmful tradition of controlling lives that those in power believe to be less worthy of theirs- when all of us "unworthy ones" die?
PRISON ISN'T FOR CITIZENS WITH UN-HARMING SELF EXPRESSION, IT'S FOR THE LIKES OF MORAL POLICE!!!
So many posts and blogs i can reblog to talk about this incident, of this extremely immoral and unethical and inhumane misuse of power to oppress women- once again!
The thing is this isn't just ' an incident or another incident ', no, it's just another incident that MADE it to public. It's not another dose of oppression, no, it's being talked about in masses once again only because the existing oppression brought consequences again. It wasn't glaring us in the face so for some time, now another life has been taken, it's a mass movement again.
Incidents of extreme oppression don't just appear, no, people, marginalized masses suffer and then someone among the lot breaks or is murdered and everyone around the globe is shocked!
WHY ARE YOU SHOCKED? WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN SUCH AUTHORITY AND POWER PREVAILS?!!!!!! WHEN SUCH SYSTEMS FOR OPPRESSING WOMEN, BLACK PEOPLE, PEOPLE BELONGING TO ANY MINORITY EXIST?!! DON'T BE SHOCKED, BE ANGRY!! IT'S NOT JUST THEIR WORLD, IT'S YOURS TOO. PLEASE SHOUT OUT, YELL, ACT, TALK, TALK TILL SOMEBODY CRIES OF THE INJUSTICE YOU SPEAK OF, TALK MORE. DO NOT BE SHOCKED, BE ANGRY. IT'S A SHIT WORLD. BE ANGRY.

cw//women brutality, violence against women in general (if theres anything else to add let me know)
so most of you probably dont know whats going on in iran right now, i would like to inform and spread the word because in all honesty its all i can do.
i’ll get to the point, Mahsa Amini, 22 female, was murdered by hijab police in Iran. Her family confirmed that she was beaten by police for the crime of wearing “bad hijab” this isnt the first time that this is happening, it absolutely disgusts me to say but many get abused and hit both physically and mentally due to not “covering up properly” and speaking up against the absolute horrid situation and rules iran have put on women. there are endless videos online showing this and blood has been long since spilled at this point. there are many protest happening as we speak. now i am not the best at explaining the situation because i am very stressed out because of the whole trahedy and police being all around the country but there are some great threads on twt that could get you up on speed on whats happening. HUGE CW FOR THESE. IF YOUR CANNOT HANDLE TOPICS LIKE THIS PLEASE DO NOT ENGAGE WITH IT, THANK YOU threads: [1] [2] [3] and also on bbc news: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-62940907 this is not the only thing thats been happening, many others have been killed in these protests that i do not have the names of. two lgbtq+ activists have been arrested and put on a death sentence as well but i sadly do not have as much info on this as i would like to admit. if anyone, ANYONE, wants to make a post regarding this or wants to do research and needs anything translated from persian to eng, they can contact me. there are many persian speaking people out there that would love to help and spread the word. please, be our voice. reblog, share, use the hashtags, anything would help spread the word so we arent forgotten under all of this tragedy.
GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS
Iran won it's first ever oscar in animation! 😭
Yall do not understand this is HUGE
Ive seen these guys in person, and they are literally of the best and sweetest people I've ever met!
They worked day and night, with terrible economy, with a lack of professional artists, with no particularly stable income, absolutely NO SUPPORT from the country, NO SPONSOR, and they freaking ROCKED
Ive seen that man three times so far, and every time, he was incredibly sleep deprived, because of this exact project
These guys were not given a visa until last minute and they rushed to the ceremony after a 25 hour flight directly FROM THE AIRPORT, they couldn't attend a meeting ment for the oscar nominees because iran wouldn't give them permission to exit the country
They went through everything you could think of
And as an Iranian animation student, to know that they were able to do it, it just means that my dreams are just not as impossible as they seemed
After making my friends watch atsv, I was challenged by one of them to design the Iranian spiderman
And i couldn't say no
Also heres a little sheet i made of where i got the inspiration for each part of the design
This happened a while ago but it still breaks my heart
For those who don't know, this persian leopard, pirouz , was one of the few ones of its kind left. He was , and his kind is this close to extinction. He was our last hope.
And he passed away
He actually meant a lot to Iranians and was a symbol of hope, either for the ones who dared to protest or for others
Just amazed how they couldn't keep one leopard alive.
The last thing that brought me joy in this life passed away.

I’m looking more specifically at Iran and Persia as a topic now! I’m going to pin down a specific topic for presentation in the coming weeks!
Hey! By chance, does anyone know if there are any databases of world folklore and ancient cultures/civilizations? Doing some research for projects.
Bonus points if:
- the databases include photos of excavations, paintings, and pottery.
- includes ancient poetry and music
- includes some kind of timeline/adjustable filters
Bonus Bonus points if the website are devoted to ancient Africa and The Middle East/ the Arab world.
modern architecture is nice and all, but it's growing so minimal, there's not much personality in the designs anymore. I'm speaking as an Iranian who has seen many, many different traditional architecture styles all over my own country.
in more central parts, there were beautiful, intricate stained glass windows. not only the stained glass, the woodcarving art used to make the window frames was just so beautiful. they on themselves provide the privacy necessary for a room and the colorful glasswork provides both beauty for the interior and soothing mental effects from color theories.
I'm not saying "modern architecture / minimal architecture bad." it's just that in my eyes, we're stripping away beauty and personality from buildings for both convenience and budget problems.
