Part of my headcanon is that everyone from the islands 'soul' of sorts it made of stardust, so I like to think that, when Loop made that wish, the Universe heard, and let the stardust in their heart surround them. As an apology for not being able to relieve their pain, and pain is part of everyone's destined path (another hc that's a lil too long to get into rn hehe), they let them become who they originally were, and through that gave Loop a choice.
The Universe can't take the pain away, it can't change the paths of its people. Yet, it can let the people choose. It let Loop see the joy that comes after pain through Siffrin. And let Loop choose. Choose whether to continue living, go through the pain and hardship of life for the light at the end, or end it. Pain is part of life, but for that pain you can gain wonderful things. Yet sometimes, the pain isn't worth it. And it's up to Loop to decide the worth of pain and joy.
Do you guys ever think about the Universe giving Loop the form of a star, and how that may be the most intimate act of love the Universe is capable of?
Loop turns into a star and that may be the Universe’s way of saying “I love you, you are a part of me and I am a part of you— you are as valuable as all those lights you look up and pray to. I’m sorry I do not know how to help you, I’m sorry I don’t know who to make you now, I’m sorry my answer to your prayer only caused more suffering, I’m sorry I do not understand you, in all your mortal pain and anguish, but I am you and you are me. I love you.”
Do. Does. Does anyone ever think about that?
Hope you don't mind me adding on op, but this just activated my lil fish brain so I gotta get it out.
Me personally, I've always imagined the Universe as an entity similar to us, the players. After all, what are we if not gleeful onlookers of Siffrins predicament? I've made a joke about it before, but most fics are all Angst, and they're mostly Siffrin focused; Because they're ours as a fandoms favorite character; the Universes favorite person. We look on and watch this with a special kind of empathy, the one reserved for those we perceive as 'characters'. The kind of empathy where we feel for them, feel their hurt and suffering, yet we still watch, because it's entertaining. I've always thought the Universe thinks in a similar way. It feels empathy in the way fans of games feel empathy for characters. It pities and helps and guides a bit, but it will still watch as they struggle with some amount of entertainment, and some of its guidance will be done less for the sake of helping and more for the sake of wanting a good show. Maybe the Universe sees everyone as characters, beings with some depth an emotion, but ultimately not real; puppets to use for their entertainment and coping and whatever else it pleases.
