Random Theory Thought
y'all, so we know that Jackson influences Exer's life through the notebook. Because of this, I have two theories.
Theory A) Jackson's powers extended beyond that one notebook and anything he writes might come true. (No concrete evidence, neither shown nor disproven in canon)
Theory B) Jackson's mom had powers, which she embedded in the diary, which she gave to Jackson.
Theory C) a combination of both. Jackson's mom had powers, which she put in the diary, and passed her powers down the Jackson, resulting in his seeing the future (heavily implied), his ability to influence Exer's life (canon), and his potential ability to write anywhere and it'll come true.
There's also the Jackson-Exer brother theory. As in, the reason they're connected is because they have a mutual mom.
I dunno. Just 3am rambles.

°I don't get Jackson's lack of self awareness. it's really weird how much he sometimes can't understand other people's behavior even if it's completely normal response to how he acted, of course David and ron are gonna be weird around him when he left them like that, he even acknowledged they're gonna think there's something wrong with him but now it's like it just got deleted from his brain. And shouting like this even though he should know both pamela and the library lady won't like it? This chapter's Jackson just feels very off character

•ron and David reaction to Jackson's behavior by trying to not associate themselves with him as much is pretty understandable; exer got what he wanted and Jackson accidentally helped him out with it.

•honestly if we didn't know exer's being a manipulative ass it would've been nice and understandable of him to tell his friends to give Jackson space but we know the truth; he's only saying that so Jackson doesn't join the reds.
•crazy how exer and Pamela's relationship turned into when it's awfully clear he held no remorse whatsoever for what he's done to her. Quite the opposite he seems as annoyed by her existence -maybe even more- as he is with Jackson.
•once again exer's acting skills are Top Notch! He genuinely looks shocked I can almost believe it

And My Blood Will Freeze For You
Jackson has always been used to the cold, ever since his mother died alongside the emptiness he always felt winter had made a home in his heart.
Today was different, today the usually quiet winter raged a storm. He can feel the frost spreading from his ribcage and through the rest of his body ever so patient yet quick, his blood turning into icicles that would cut his skin from the inside to make it's way outside of his body leaving a bloody mess in the painful process.
The rain was pouring outside, the sound of each drop like a song that rhythm with his storm; quiet and almost unheard to the outsiders yet rining in his ears loud enough he can drown in it, and there will be nobody to save him.
Nobody to reach their hand to him, to chase him down a hallway or constantly ask him if he's feeling ok even though he won't talk and he would deserve it
He would deserve drowning for the entire night because he fucked up and hurt Exer
Jackson grinds his teeth and without even knowing it, soft tears start forming in his eyes.
Jackson had spent a long time wishing that he could go back in time to his childhood and do something anything to save his mother, now he wishes more than anything that if only he could go back and change the results of what had happened for Exer.
His mind scrambled at all the things he could've done. If only he never picked up that dairy. If only he never reached out to Exer again. If only he had told the truth. If only he never went to the forest earlier today. If only he ran after David instead,
(If only he never warned David about that rock. A cruel part in him whispers)
Jackson pushes the possibilities away, now only focusing on replaying the events in his head again and again and again and again until the scenes crash together and he can see himself in Exer's place.
He focuses his thoughts on that imagine, his cold blood spilling out. His body laying beneath the rock, his breath shallow as he breathes out cold smoke. Maybe if he tries hard enough he could believe that this is what had happened, that he's the one in the hospital bed and Exer is waiting out with Pamela and David,
Because that's what should have been. That's the reality they should be living in, not the real one he's forced to face right now.
He should've been the one hurt, not Exer. Never Exer
And the worst part is that this won't be the last of it.

Something that's almost never acknowledged by jd readers (yes this is a character study)
A popular belief from s1 is that Jackson beat up exer because of what he did to pamela, however that's not actually right
If you go back to read prior to the fight you'll realize that Jackson was never really pissed off about what exer did until he realized that exer been sabotaging him too, that's when he gets angry.
Of course he acknowledges that's what exer did to pamela and yes it upset him and he believes pam should know; but the thing is that it doesn't upset him enough to beat exer up
Do you know what upsets him enough?

This is what upsets him enough to beat exer up
Why?
Because looking at this from a different perspective; it looks like exer is still trying to sabotage Jackson's life and isolate him.
The only people on Jackson's side are pamela and brenda, but brenda is more of with both sides and with David being her brother and she obviously regaining her crush on exer; that would leave Jackson with only one person he can absolutely trust won't leave him: Pamela
So seeing Pamela with the reds felt like everything was crumbling for him; that exer was manipulating pam to join him and his friends and then exer would continue his cat and mouse game that Jackson now knows of.
So really it wasn't about pamela as a person as much as it was about pamela as Jackson's last remaining companion in that rivalry thing

Plotholes with the Brothers Theory and an Additional Theory regarding Exer's magical origin.
Right! Let's get this started! Spoilers for Jackson's Diary Obvi!
The Brothers/ Sibling theory is an interesting one. If you like to read Webtoon's comment section like I do, you might see it surface from time to time.
It's no secret that Exer and Jackson are connected in some way.
- Jackson being the only one to actually see Exer's magic (until David of course).
- Exer thought box is grey like Jackson's power and Jackson's thought box is green like Exer's magic.
- The entirety of season two is literally them sharing each others braincell.
- The Diary being connected to Exer's magic.
But them secretly being brothers on the other hand is really up to debate. Some might even argue they are twins seperated at birth 🐣. However it's very unlikely! According to Paola in her QnA Instagram section their ages are different.
Exer is the oldest of the main cast, being 18 and Jackson the youngest, at 17. Yes, you can argue that there are siblings who are only a year apart. Which i'll give you a point for, as IT IS possible, what's impossible to ignore however is the fact that Exer's and Jackson's nationality are different.
Exer according to the Wikifandom, is Indian-African American. While Jackson, American. I can't clarify where they gain the info from, so take it with a grain of salt. The reason why i have a strong believe that Exer is Indian-African American is due to Paola's patreon.

If im right that this is Exer's mom, than its prove Exer's and Jackson's mom are two different people.
Its blurry since i can't afford the monthly subscription (it cost like a whole week of lunch money, if converted to my home country) so I could be wrong but my speculation is that this is Exer's mom. Due to the woman in the picture not resembling Jackson's mom and she is wearing what seems to be a sari? (A traditional South East mostly India, Women's wear.)
The woman in the blurry picture have curly long hair like Exer's while Jackson's mom have a shorter shoulder length straight hair.

This implies that for Jackson and Exer to be related, Harry must have cheated on Exer's mom. We all know that's IMPOSSIBLE! No way! Very out of character!
If they are not related than how are they super connected?
This is where we go to the second theory, Exer's Magic came from Jackson. Here me out!
So far, there are three confirm cases of magical users in JD. That being Exer, Lucy-furr, and David. And you know what they had in common? They are all written in the Diary by Jackson!
You know what they say! Once is by chance, twice a coincidence and three times a pattern.
At first with Exer it might by chance, but than Lucy came in to the picture as a MAGICAL cat! Sure it could be a coincidence, but than suddenlyDavid have the ability to see Exer's magic! It's a pattern! Jackson can give power to living beings it seems!
What's interesting is that Lucy and David don't have their power until Jackson specifically activate it. In Lucy's case she had been drawn in green crayon before, but she IS still a normal cat. It was only after Jackson drew her again back in ep 66 where she finally gain her magic.
Exer is unique in a way, since he seems to use his magic even when Jackson is not in Kingsmont. This fuels my theory of them being friends back in their childhood.
The biggest evidence for me regarding the magic being given by Jackson to Exer is this drawing.

I must admit the blue in the wand and hat is not the exact shade of blue Jackson is. But still!!

Thank you! I try to be as respectful as possible, I ship a lot of rarepairs myself and I know how it feels when someone goes "ewwww but like aren't they both already in canon relationships?" Yeah, I know that, and also they're fictional characters? Also they're battling their inner demons and one just broke his arm, I don't think they're all that worried about people shipping them with a person they're not dating.
