OH MY GOD?? i love this mdzs time travel jiang cheng mdzs fanfic please i would love this so much oooh are we doing time travel logic where this already happened in the past/the current timeline so that jiang fengmian is unhappy about jiang cheng as a student bc he's being compared and found lacking to his 'ancestor' and then when jiang fengmian grows up and gets married his son is like his 'ancestor' (jc in the past gave a fake name he must have everyone is so close in time and will KNOW him in the future it will be so fucking obvious) so jfm feels inferior/threatened by his son who is so like his 'ancestor' he met when he was young that he didn't measure up to and rejected his 'ancestor's' ways of doing things and disliked his son bc his son was like his 'ancestor' and reminded him of how he wasn't like his 'ancestor' at all and changed jiang sect overall to be less in line with his 'ancestor' which reinforces how child jc felt isolated/diff from his father's/sect's (new) way of doing things oh also!!! wen mao started the hole 'clan over sect' thing right??? and presumably along the way there was a war/many wars bc well. obviously. so jiang cheng mentioning a War (you know how when theres a war in recent memory its The War because what other war could they be referencing it's The War. if it's a different war you say the name. but if it's The War then it's just The War. anyway) and maybe jc is looking at wen clan members/wen sect members in a certain way. maybe he meets young wen ruohan (who is now sect heir) and for 0.2 sec wants to kill him. and obviously ppl pick up on homicidal thoughts or at least very very very angry thoughts and theyre like ah. he's from wen mao's time. no wonder he's grim fierce and powerful and not very happy with anyone named wen. and then since they have history books about wen mao's (presumable) BS they can imagine him as a war hero lost to the sands of time. maybe wen mao in a war tried to destroy other sect's records or something so info about sects before wen mao's time is spotty at best so it makes sense why they can't figure out exactly who jc is. and the 'origin' of their sect like with lan an and such is even more ancient but also has an oral tradition component to it like it's a mythological kind of story that kids are told not so much a history book so it survived book burnings maybe jiang cheng makes copies of jiang sect texts to bring back with him since so many were lost when lotus pier was destroyed
