I made a Moonshine Cybin Flannel to see NADDPOD Live at Carnegie Hall (featuring an embroidered PawPaw)

Making the Shirt:

Like a week before I left for New York, I decided that I wanted to make my own NADDPOD clothes to wear since I don’t have a lot of merch. I remembered that JoAnn Fabrics had this mushroom flannel and so I ran out and bought two yards.

I used this button up shirt/lined jacket pattern from MCall’s:

The problem is that I’m right in between the largest boy’s size and the smallest men’s size. So I had to make some adjustments. I cut out the pattern, then shortened it at the waist because there wasn’t room for my hips in the original pattern. Then I cut out all the pieces: shirt front, shirt back, sleeves, pocket, collar, and cuffs.

I knew from using the pattern before that the sleeves were too big for the armhole, and I don’t like the look of gathered sleeves. So I trimmed 5/8” from both arm holes.

Once those adjustments to the pattern were made, I stitched the sides together.

Next up was the collar. I cut two collar pieces, stitched them with the pattern-side of the fabric facing each other, trimmed the excess at the edges and flipped it right side out and ironed it.

I pinned the collar in place around the neck and stitched it in place.

Next up was the sleeves. I stitched each sleeve together, leaving a gap open at the bottom so that the sleeves could be unbuttoned. I hemmed the opening of each sleeve so no raw edges were visible, the gathered the top of the sleeves so they fit into the arm hole.

I pinned the sleeves into the arm hole and stitched them in place.

I cut two cuff pieces, and turned down one edge so that once it was stitched in place, there wouldn't be any raw edges. Then I pinned it in place so the right sides were together and the excess fabric of the cuff was pointed towards the shoulder. I stitched it in place, then folded the cuff in half, right sides together and stitched the ends. That way when the cuff was folded out the right way, all the raw edges would be held inside.

With that, the main construction of the shirt was complete.

Next were my first attempts at embroidery. I found a reference image online that reminded me of PawPaw and printed it out in various sizes. I stitched together a breast pocket, and pinned it to the shirt. Then I was able to use that and my printed images to decide how big I wanted the embroidery.

Once I decided on the size, I unpinned the pocket and transferred the drawing to the fabric using transfer paper. I pinned the drawing and transfer paper in place, and traced over the image. It left a carbon copy on the fabric, and I traced over that with heat erase pen so it wouldn't rub off while I worked.

After that, it was lot of stitching with embroidery thread. Have some in progress pictures.

With the embroidery done, it was time for the finishing touches. Using the guides on my pattern, I marked off the places where buttons and buttonholes were meant to go.

I used the buttonhole foot attachment and setting for my sewing machine to install the button holes, then I sewed the buttons in place by hand.

To secure the embroidery I cut out a patch of white flannel and ironed heat and bond to the back. Then I placed the patch over the thread on the backside of the embroidery, and ironed it in place. The patch prevents the loose threads from getting snagged on anything.

After that, I hemmed the shirt and it was finished!

I literally finished this project the night before I flew to New York. It ended up being a huge hit at the fan meet up in Central Park.

the number of times I've found myself just singing that out of context and being met with bafflement.

Walked into the kitchen to help with Easter meal prep and my mother was playing chasing cars over speakers and my immediate reaction was to go "IF I FILET-" and I then realised that I fully don't know the actual lyrics anymore it's all filet. Naddpod has done irreparabel damage to me.

Zudrick face reveal!!!!!!!

It’s very self indulgent and I am not slick Zudrick is my fave and tbh i was just drawing a fun little design. I was just so incredibly married to the idea of french Zudrick that it has influenced my personal visualization of him beyond recognition. Like I cannot explain how much the curly lil mustache was just real to me. The long hair is me being self indulgent but that mustache? It’s completely unexpected and if I were to do a more realistic approach to what Zudrick could look like I would still have it cuz I think it’s funnier and kind of a curveball. Like wdym Zudrick of the murder has a cute lil curly stache?????

Anyways I don’t think that realistically he looks anything like this but what can I say I do what brings me most joy. We have fun here. Enjoy! Or don’t idk this is mostly for me lol :p

One of my favorite things is Murph having a little guy character who is just a lil guyyyyy so tiny so little so cute just a teeny thing and then without fail making them the meanest most hate filled unhinged angry creature in naddpod existence.

it rlly pleases me how on opposite yet complementary i accidentally made zudrick and welly. i care for this crew. too much too little and juuuuust right.

I promised a comic about them at one point and this wasn’t what I originally had in mind but it is something I ended up liking even though it is very sappy. Sappy campaign finale gets a sappy comic about my two faves that’s how the cookie crumbles.

Being me is amazing because I get an amazing 2 hour episode filled with epic combat, heartfelt moments, and really funny bits

…but my brain just really honed in on those last five minutes of solbin interaction in which Murph ingrained the visual of Albin holding Sol and periodically shaking him.

Ummm yeah self indulgent au based on me wanting to draw Albin as a witch from Witch Hat Atelier.

Current idea: Sol had forbidden magic done on him by Paetina Glenbottle (brimhat) as a kid (which turns him into a frog thing) then was abandoned as a failure until apprentice Albin found him and they continued to have the wackiest life of “Uh oh! I need to hide my best friend while completing my training!” because Albin is basically breaking magic law by being besties with Sol and keeping him hidden.

I rlly thought I was gonna disappear after my last post but today I locked tf in blacked out and this au came up.

there have been multiple points throughout their lives together where they establish “youre my partner in every sense of the word” without ever actively labeling it and then promptly continue on with their day. like at some point in their early 20s they realize “hmmm this best friendism i see about,,,seems different than what we have”and then never elaborate any further. theyre each others emergency contact they know all their medical info their schedules make them miss each other and when they can they prefer to spend their time together because really they dont want or need anything else they both intend on spending the rest of their lives together until woops! time to save the world ????

so to me, they both understand that whatever they have is mutual and neither platonic nor romantic but they both had jobs so they dont rlly care abt labeling that rn … and then theyre trynna save the world so they dont rlly care abt that rn .. they just have this secret third thing and its nice

it is rlly confusing to everyone else tho. to many it kind of just seems like both sol and albin have one sided crushes on each other. like wow sol really talks a lot about how cool albin is so hes prolly crushing but albin doesnt seem to notice or care (they base this off albins sallow tired exhausted face which is just how he looks). and for albin theyre like oh man albin is totally crushing on sol hes the only guy he ever hangs out with too bad sols super out of his league. and its so funny cuz albin and sol r non the wiser to ppl thinking these things sol is knitting albin another scarf and albin doesnt have it in him to tell sol go stop because he has more scarfs than he knows what to do with but sol seems really happy so whatever who cares if its summer he cant get anymore miserable.

and yes albin does have a lucky tie AND a lucky scarf and yes both are gifts from sol sorry i DO make the rules and this is what ive decided they plague my mind 24/7 its only fair i get this please dont take this from me i have so little…

anyways yea theyre partners but like only if u ask them cuz otherwise theyre not gnna talk about it theyre just going to be clingy protective and overly complimentary to each other

All these recent drawings come from a small array of doodles I decided to put some time into.

They have matching pjs and pillows because Sol thought it would be cute and Albin was ok with it as long as it was comfy. (In my head their colors r purple and yellow)

More of the same thing because they make me smile and I care about them a lot ok !?!

These two r soooooo clingy w/ each other and there is little in the world you could do to change my mind. Albin saw Sol disappear and immediately went to check on him they love each other so much I’m gonna sink into the center of the earth. That’s his fucking frog pal and that’s his fucking boy wizard do NOT separate (unless the world is at stake lol) Anyways that latest episode was badass and all and I like to imagine that during that epic battle Albin is w/ Ma sick from mosquitoes looking like the wettest cat ever.

Is this a suitable apology for my last two posts? Sol and Albin best friendism do you know how bright you shine for me,,,A wizard boy and his frog pal. I will be thinking abt the piggy (froggy?) back ride for days now this has given me peace of mind.

“First it’s joy, but then it’s worry. When he sees them he immediately notices they’re incomplete. There’s an unmistakable dread and fear that fills him once he looks at their faces. Emotional but valiant Callie has mascara running down her face from her tears, which haven’t stopped. Challenging but strong Calder can’t even look him in the eye as he takes the helmet off and shrinks into himself. Sol isnt there with them. Where is he? Then Calder tells him, because every time that Callie tried to the only thing that escape her mouth are sobs. Calder tells him what happened in a distant and cold tone, eyes dull. Albin can’t believe it. He can’t be gone. He thinks back to when it was just him and Sol, his frog pal, his best friend. And he can’t be gone. But he looks back at Calder and Callie and they don’t stop crying. And Albin is faced with the realization that Sol isn’t coming back. That he is involved with all of this, doing so much more than he thought he could, because Sol helped him and believed in him. Now Sol isn’t here.“

Small thing where I expand on the whole Sol gets alexandrited. Because. I like to make myself sad I guess and now you all have to deal with it too.

hi yall im back anyways sol posting because emily and jake said their characters would be a lot more grim had sol been alexandrited and murph attested to that saying sol is the more optimistic of them and a scenario where duck team is just missing someone fussing over them with food and knitted items has taken its place in my head and i cannot stop thinking about it. cant stop thinking about a kenna who never met sol bufo. imagine kenna, who has such a close relationship to sol that theyre calling eachother siblings now! shes his sis!!! imagine that kenna having never met him. imagine an albin who has no hype man. his best friend of years, the one person he could trust and count on to have his back and support him just gone. not to mention swag. swag who in the main campaign believed himself to be alone which is why he attached so tightly to the only thing he had. swag who found someone who is like him, who IS him. in a world without sol bufo that swag never turns a new leaf. never finds the family he misses. and of course callie and calder.

honestly i cant even begin to imagine it because ill just get too sad LMAO like nooooo i cant tear them apart ,, just the feeling of something always missing never feeling quite complete without him…oooo.

Me when. Me when Brian Murphy gives me a new freak ass goblin to obsess over. Krudbert is my everything I love his minion tendencies and his kind eyes. If I had a nickel for every time a Caldwell dmed a campaign where two of the pcs obsessed over the attention and validation of the third I would have two nickels which isn’t a lot but its weird that it happened twice right?

Just a thought I had while cleaning but realistically would anyone know Sol’s birthday? Like. Since he’s a clone and all. Like imagine the weird situation with that right?

Sorry my memory for the beginning of campaign three is hazy and maybe I’m being dumb but like. He wouldn’t. Know his birthday. Right? MAYBE He would consider his birthday the day he and Albin met? Maybe he celebrated alongside Albin’s birthday? Maybe he wasn’t celebrated at all?

If he and Swag got the chance to talk then would he consider Swags birthday to be his birthday as well? Maybe he hasn’t even thought about the fact he doesn’t really know or have a birthday. Maybe he only realizes once Callie and Calder start talking about their own birthdays? If something about a Sol birthday is mentioned in canon then unmm ignore this post pretend you never read it but regardless I think it’s fun to think of the duck team scenarios that spawn from that.

Did somebody say Sol Bufo? No? Well too bad you’re getting him anyway :) !

Posting more duck team polycule doodles because every time I listen to campaign three my love for them is reinvigorated tenfolds and i think about them for the next week.

i was just thinking about how funny itd be if in a moment of insecurity Sol worries about what Calder and Callie think of him meanwhile those two are head over heels in love. like pining and yearning so hard it makes them dizzy.

Also no I am never letting the “Make Out Every Hour” lie go ever. Im gripping that bit so hard my hand is going to go numb.

I tend to think a lot about Sol as a character - sorry guys Caldwells cartoonish bugs bunny daffy duck charms are my favorite so I knew I was going to love Sol the moment I met him - so Sol often occupies my mind.

I love ducklycule because of just how obvious it is that they care so much about each other. They aren’t complete unless all three of them are together. Sol and Calder defend Callie all the time, try to cheer her up. Calder would do anything for Callie and Sol, he sacrificed himself so that they would be safe. Sol and Callie’s immediate focus was to get Calder back. Jake and Emily mentioned in the most recent mixed bag heartside chat that if Sol got taken by Alexandrite it would have severely changed Callie and Calder’s characters because Sol was the most optimistic of them. Like I know all the naddpod pcs would do anything for eachother (besides maybe bon freres and trinyvale triplets ngl) but ducklycule holds a special place in my heart their soulmateism is off the roof.

I started this out saying I think about Sol, because I do. I think about how before anything, before Albin, Sol was just alone. And then he wasn’t- and I know its a cute thing and that he holds it with pride but he was ‘just’ a sidekick guy for a long time. I think this is where I get a lil fanon-y or headcanon-y whatever its called but I indulge myself in my silly little thoughts about this silly frog!!! This stuff might not be the most accurate to canon!!! IDC!!!

But I just think it’s neat to think about Sol not only standing on the same ground as others for the first time but being valued the way that Calder and Callie value him. Like I dunno just throwin the idea out there of perhaps maybe Sol feeling a little nervous about where he stands with the two perhaps sometimes thinking they look better together just the two of them than with Sol tagging along. Like he’s just the sidekick of two beautiful people who deserve each other and he’s just lucky to be at their side. And then Calder and Callie just immediately showing how not true that is with their actions- like how in the most recent episode they held Sol’s hand to imbue Aryox’s power. And how Callie just understood Sol’s Goonola (trademark pending) markers. And how they wouldn’t be the same without him. I know some of these were bits but Im the kinda guy that gets given an inch and takes a mile!!!!

All in all, viva ducklycule I care about them so much and especially Sol and sometimes a guys just gotta imagine up a hurt/comfort scenario in his head. Thinking abt writing abt it, who knows!!! Would love to hear yall’z ducklycule hcs gimmie plz

I briefly considered calliope in the extravagant robes because they are SO HER but also…i thought it would be fun to draw sol in the robes,, i feel like you could go either way with them two just pretend callie is wearing sols cartoony boxers and sol is wearing callies robes because theyre all deeply in love.

Mavrus being genuine was not only an incredibly funny moment but also weirdly enough, incredibly sweet.
