if we can make the assumption that mood can be represented as a numerical value, then perhaps we can explain why experiencing “love” is so appealing. i’m not sure why this is so, but apparently feeling “love” (not necessarily its associated emotions) comes with raising your mood aka general feeling of positivity, confidence and control (maybe it’s better to think of it as a modifier for thoughts and feelings). it does not necessarily change anything fundamental about a person, but it does have a large impact in going about day-to-day business. this might be what keeps me going back to the romance genre and otome games despite throwing my schedule out of the window for it - the mood and positivity boost after a good haul is worth the trade off. i have been remiss in noticing this because most of the occasions in which i found myself emotionally engaged, i had without fail also disregarded sleeping at the proper time. if we recall, proper sleeping does have an impact on mood - this balances out the mood increase from the feeling of love i got from the game.
that aside, i played Blooming Panic (one route so far) yesterday and it was spectacular. it might have been too long since i last played an otome game, but oh boy am i parched ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
