media literacy would automatically go up 100% if people knew how to consume stories without self-inserting themselves into the characters' shoes. "if i were him..." you're NOT. you may relate to his story, his past, his traits, his quirks, his identity but the moment you start treating the story accepting what you feel/think as what the character feels/thinks, you're misunderstanding the story.

NOT ALL CHARACTERS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RELATABLE OR GOOD ROLE MODELS AND THE IDEA THAT THEY ALL SHOULD BE (ESP MAIN CHARAS) IS HOLDING US BACK SO HARD. besides how do you form a nuanced opinion about a topic if you don’t explore it. the media we consume and create are great places to do that you aren’t doing anyone any favors by remaining ignorant but commenting your opinions anyway ofc if a piece of media is triggering or distressing don’t consume said media but don’t pretend that you are a moral paragon when you’re not! anyways organization tags now:
