LOA/shifting is definitely a pseudoscience
1 - Lack of Solid Evidence
Legitimate science: It is based on evidence obtained through controlled experiments, peer reviews and studies that are replicable for everyone.
Pseudoscience: It usually presents little or no solid scientific evidence. The "evidence" is often anecdotal or based on personal, individual testimonies.
2. It is not falsifiable
Legitimate science: It makes claims that can be tested and refuted. For example, the theory of gravity can be verified, tested experimentally.
Pseudoscience: It makes untestable claims, such as "this technique works because it is aligned with invisible energies of the universe, you need to feel a magical sensation, enter a state".
3. Rejection of Peer Review
Legitimate science: Its findings are published in scientific journals and evaluated by other experts.
Pseudoscience: Avoids peer review and publishes directly to the general public, usually in books or on social media.
4. Use of Unexplained Scientific Jargon
Pseudosciences often use technical or scientific terms to appear more legitimate, but without any basis in fact. For example, words like "quantum", "universe", or "energy" may be used out of context.
5. Appeals to Emotion or Common Sense
Instead of providing evidence, pseudosciences often use emotional arguments or oversimplifications to convince people.
6. Resistance to Change
Legitimate science: Accepts criticism and is open to revisions and re-statements when new evidence emerges.
Pseudoscience: Resists any questioning and often accuses critics of "bias" or "conspiracy".
7- Promises of Extraordinary Results
If something promises easy solutions to complex problems (such as quick cures for diseases, super powers, changing realities or instant wealth), it is a warning sign.
8. It depends on a "Lone Genius"
Pseudosciences are often based on the ideas of a single person, (Neville) disregarding decades or centuries of accumulated scientific knowledge.
9 - Pseudosciences blame the person for the failure, legitimate science is a fact that cannot fail individually, for example everyone can prove and feel gravity following the theory of gravity, in pseudoscience they will claim that the technique happens to everyone except you, the fault is yours as an individual and they should not be held responsible or judged.
