AHH I just meant that while rivelia is a popular specialist/specialist ship (maybe the most popular one actually?), it's often liked from a very... fanon perspective. People really enjoy the Angry Red Character and Calm Pacifist Blue Character trope (i do too!) but in canon rivelia just isn't really like that? At least, not to the extent that people usually think of them in fanon.

People often focus on that dynamic of angry/calm for rivelia when there's a lot there that can be really interesting! Like Riven's dislike and distrust of Helia at first actually being residual feelings of dislike of Sky (and assuming that Helia would be another Sky). Or how Helia never disliked Riven, even when he was being a little bitch to him! Or how Riven understands Helia's more negative feelings in ways that even Flora sometimes doesn't. Or Helia being able to express annoyance with Riven without Riven considering it a personal attack or challenge like he still does with some of the others. Or Riven still getting really worried when Helia does dangerous shit on missions (in a way that he really doesn't get with the other guys). Or Helia always being a quiet comfort for Riven and being there when he wants to vent.

There's just... a lot that goes into their friendship that people often miss because they end up focusing a lot more on the angry/calm or fighter/pacifist dynamics. And like,,, there's nothing inherently wrong with that don't get me wrong, but I wish there was more rivelia content that was based on their canon relationship! I think riven/nabu (rivbu? naven... ??) also gets that fanon treatment of angry/calm when again, so much more goes into their friendship! But for rivelia specifically, they just have a lot of potential as a pairing (platonically and romantically) but so much of it gets missed out on :(

i Love thinking about how they would even realize they like each other??? because you know these idiots would not realize. riven gets stuck in his "helia is a little stuck up prissy pants" until they become friends and helia is in his little "i don't need friends they disappoint me" phase for literally two years so like? when.

so basically i'm thinking they speedrun enemies to friends but slowburn friends to lovers

and eventually it's kinda like the one spiderman meme but instead of it being two people recognizing each other it's these two idiots realizing they like each other

also that one meme but it's sky rushing into their room screaming "I KNEW YOU GUYS WERE DATING" and helia puts his book down and goes "we are? why didn't you tell me :("

riven mindlessly plays with helia's hair so much. like it's literally autopilot, he doesn't even think about it.

i think riven likes to kiss helia's neck! and helia likes to mindlessly play with riven's hand which occasionally means kissing them if they're in range (also the occasional bite because it surprises riven every time. you'd think he'd be used to it at this point but no??)

riven ropes helia into pranking the other specialists! everyone is fair game but of course sky is a popular target. riven thinks there's an added benefit to dating helia because sky lets him get away with everything but then he realizes sky just doubles back on him 😞

helia looks up "harmless pranks" much to riven's annoyance but they do complete every single one on every single list they can find. god they're so annoying </3

when they argue it can get pretty ugly :( but not because of them! they tend to argue once and then silently brood until someone breaks first but when they do that the specialists tend to side with helia and that obviously just makes riven feel worse, especially when helia's the one in the wrong.

one of their arguments started with helia saying he didn't want riven trying to protect him during missions anymore and riven edgelord supreme immediately assumes that helia is undermining him again and they keep going back and forth until helia finally just yells that it's because he loves riven and doesn't want him to get hurt. cue harsh silence and ~prolonged eye contact~

on a cuter note, they love going to cafes and restaurants! meal dates are literally their favorite kind of date and they almost always eat together anyway so why not?

they do still get jealous every now and then but they're also at a point where they're now so confident that they just scoff to themselves when someone tries to flirt with the other aljdghdjla it's both cute and infuriating (sky: you can't be that full of yourself, riven: nsfw joke that i can't say because i want this post to be safe boooo)

yooo glad you’re just obsessed with them just as I am (Even though I’m not in the fandom much anymore) but I have a few more:

They’re both quiet people, so they enjoy quality time with each other in peace (Ex: Hugging each other on the couch while watching something, only talking to each other a few times.

Riven: *gets mad*/ Helia: Are you done with your temper tantrum yet?/ Riven: No >:( / *they both try to work out their emotion with each other*

Helia just knows random stuff about space ships and wind riders after being with Riven for a while and assisting him in fixing some vehicles.

“Wow! How’d you know that was the reason why the Wind Rider wasn’t working?” “Oh just…something I knew.” *flashback to Riven explaining a whole essay about how wind riders work to Helia*

Related with previous statement, they share moments where Helia does a minor mistake and Riven gets mad over it. Like if Helia isn’t holding the flashlight at the right angle while Riven is fixing something in the dark, he gets mad 💀💀💀

They’re the pretty couple who seem bad ass on the outside but are actually a decent couple who understand and treat each other as human beings.

Somewhat related but I think it was Winx Comic #22 or #23 where Riven assumes that Helia only got punished after a mission failed was because if Saladin didn’t put that punishment onto Helia, people would think that he was Saladin’s favorite out of all the Red Fountain students and that Saladin plays favorites. Imagine after dating Helia for a while, Riven gets to know Saladin more and actually gets a parental figure in his life.

Riven & Helia Headcanons +*

Riven and Helia do art related activities together during the weekends. Helia introduced more art forms besides music (collages, paintings, etc.) to Riven. At first Riven sucked at them, but after being reassured by Helia, he’s better at them. It also helped him express his feelings more!

Remember the scene where Helia called out Riven’s treatment to Musa? (S3 EP19) Imagine they both do that to each other. It’d be nice for each of them to find out their flaws from one another, and work it out with each other. (Or work on it by themselves.)

They both enjoy taking walks/jogs with each other. It just takes longer incase Helia wants to sketch something he sees on the way (only on walks).

Sleeping in bed together at first, Riven needed a lot of space. He eventually cuddled up to Helia, then allowed Helia to cuddled up with him. Now both hug each other while sleeping, but can change incase one or both of them need space. (Riven likes being little spoon.)

Another point: Helia helps with pointing out Riven’s toxic masculinity. 

Riven tries to do things “traditionally” romantic for Helia (Writing a love poem, etc.), but either Helia (genuinely) laughs at it or just says,”You tried your best.” 

Helia takes care of his skin because of his skin routine. Riven makes fun of it at first, but then gets slowly interested. Now they both have skin care routines! 

Helia likes looking at Riven’s face and expressions, probably sketches them. Riven likes looking at Helia, especially when he’s smiling or laying down (Because he looks great with his hair down and out.) Really makes him blush and question himself. Ya know?

“Why did you grow out your hair?” “Because I can?”

“You’re pretty gay.” “Says the one wearing a crop top.”
