Do you happen to have a link to the text of Caradoc? I'm very intrigued by it.

anyway…. medieval literature arthurian literature arthuriana “i enjoyed it but I did not like it” is accurate for me too I had some bias toward it because I'd read John Matthews' retelling which leaves in most but not all of the questionable parts It's definitely interesting I mostly liked Guinier Percival having no lady to fight for and going up to the nearest ladies and befriending them and getting engaged to one that day is so him I will hate Aalardin du Lac forever and the characters forgiving him won't change that The depictions of mental illness were interesting and somewhat more nuanced than one might expect though still not up to modern standards I'm reblogging this now because there was some curiosity about it on Discord caradoc briefbras sir caradoc caradoc

I noticed that Caradoc’s and Arthur’s arms are similar: both feature crowns on an azure field, though Arthur has multiple crowns or and Caradoc just has one crown argent. Caradoc is married to one of Igraine’s daughters in the Vulgate Merlin, and he is the son of Arthur’s niece (but referred to as his nephew) in The Story of Caradoc. It’s quite possible that whoever designed Caradoc’s arms meant them to look like a humbler version of Arthur’s.
