I did way to much research on Japanese trees for this >_< learning about propping trees (like large bonsai) and yakusugi was certainly an experience. Also I know like 20 native Japanese tree species now…I need to draw toko dealing with all might going on a rant about trees so he can “suffer” too.

Here are some bonus sketches of Tokoyami visiting the California redwoods (and subsequently climbing them) because I love the idea of him just walking around on tree branches like some fantasy world setting. (I don’t actually know if the branches of a redwoods are big enough to walk on, finding photo references for them was impossible)
