Sonadow Holiday Fanfic!

This is a holiday party chapter from my long-term Sonadow fanfic, but it can mostly be read as a one-shot (The previous chapter is an iceskating chapter that leads well into this one!).

Chapter 18 of A Work In Progress is out!

Summary: Shadow and Sonic attend Vector’s bachelor party. Both fun and some chaos ensue during the event.

Sonic Movie 3 Sonic and Shadow dynamic conversation… spoilers ahead!

So I think a lot of us can agree the dynamic between Sonic and Shadow in this movie was great. Of course there was the discourse at first, Shadow being frustrated at first was understandable, same thing with Sonic when Tom was hurt. And then they came to a mutual respect on the moon. After the moon scene we even see them be playful with each other. “Don’t tell me you’ve got a catchphrase.” And “Just try to keep up” with a smile on Shadow’s face. It reminds you of what Sonic and Shadow used to have back in the day, a mutually respectful feeling towards each other and a fun rivalry where both loved the banter and competition.

My question is what are they doing to do to Sonic and Shadow’s relationship after this? We know Shadow is alive and they will inevitably meet again. In the games, the next time Shadow and Sonic see each other again after SA2, they still held that same wonderful dynamic. But with Sega’s current depiction of their relationship, I worry. Now-a-days, Shadow pretends to barely tolerate Sonic, dislikes working with him, while Sonic commonly teases him and seems to be the only one who enjoys the banter.

With how things in the movie ended off, Sonic and Shadow happily fighting alongside each other in an almost playful way; spinning around each other, bantering, smiling… I can’t imagine them going back to “the more you talk, the harder I want to hit you.” Even though that’s kinda how Shadow and Sonic’s video game relationship seems to be now.

If my theory is correct that Shadow shows up halfway through, possibly towards the end of Sonic 4 to help fight Metal (probably either Neo or Overlord at that point), I really hope they keep their demeanor towards each other positive. Sure, Shadow can be more serious, as usual, but please please Sega don’t make Shadow act like he’s frustrated to be working with Sonic.

Alright I need to ask the question cause it’s killing me…

When did the dynamic between Sonic and Shadow change for the worse?

The more I look into their dynamic throughout the years, the more I notice how different it is now than it was. It used to be “you never cease to surprise me blue hedgehog” and “it’ll be a date to die for.” Even when they were enemies in SA2, there was a respect, and a side where both of them enjoyed the banter. That continued for a while, where both seemed to enjoy each other’s company and Shadow enjoyed the banter just as much as Sonic.

When exactly did it go from that to what it is now, where Sonic is this character who lives to annoy Shadow and Shadow pretends to barely tolerate him? Why did it change? I don’t get it, their dynamic beforehand was wonderful. And don’t get me wrong, there’s still that mutual respect at the end of the day to an extent. But now it’s literally like Shadow can’t stand him and Sonic is the one doing all the teasing and banter, almost as though he’s searching for what they used to have.

I’m genuinely curious when that change happened, because it bothers me beyond belief. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Chapter 17 of A Work In Progress is out!

Chapter Title: Pride

Chapter Summary: It’s Sonic’s birthday, and Sonic decides he wants to go to pride in Westopolis with his friends. Some new revelations about Sonic’s friends are revealed and Sonic & Shadow officially come out.

I’ll probably get to all of these over time, but I need one to prioritize lol. I can’t believe my silly fic has gotten as much love as it has <3 Thank you to everyone who’s read it!

Chapter 16 of A Work In Progress is out!

Summary:

Sonic gets called in for a fight with Eggman, who hasn’t shown up for a while. Shadow eventually shows up, and Sonic has a little bit of explaining to do.

Thanksgiving Sonadow Fic!

The first chapter of my Sonadow fanfic is very much Thanksgiving themed (harvest technically lol) if anyone is feelin festive. Happy Thanksgiving for those who celebrate and if not, have a great day!

Summary:

Sonic is tired of Shadow never showing up to any of their gatherings or holiday parties, which leads to a small argument between the two. Somehow, Sonic’s words seem to get to Shadow’s head, as a few days later, Shadow himself appears for their harvest gathering.

Chapter 15 of A Work In Progress is out!

Chapter Summary:

Shadow and Sonic have officially been together for six months, and Sonic plans a fun race in honor of that. Afterward, he takes Shadow to a special place, and takes their relationship a step further.

Chapter 14 of A Work In Progress is out!

Chapter Summary:

It’s Easter, and Sonic and friends go over to Vanilla’s every year for an Easter egg hunt. Shadow joins in on the fun for the first time and Cream is excited to see Shadow. Also Sonic struggles to not be obvious.

The next couple chapters will be a BIG turning point so stay tuned!

Chapter 13 of A Work in Progress is out!

Summary:

It’s beginning to warm up again, which means travel time for Sonic. This time though, he has Shadow to keep him company.

Chapter 12 of A Work In Progress is out!

Summary: Shadow and Sonic receive news about a wedding they’re invited to and Shadow ends up teaching Sonic to dance properly.

This one is short and sweet but it alludes to a future chapter :)

Since A Work in Progress hit 200 kudos, I figured I draw one of my favorite scenes that fits the season! (This was meant for 100 but I didn’t have time then lol) Thank you to everyone who has supported so far! Hopefully I can make more drawings from the fic in the future :)

Chapter 11 of “A Work in Progress” is out!

Summary:

Sonic and Shadow decide to eat at Tails’ home, since they can’t eat out in public. Shadow and Tails start to connect, to Sonic’s delight.

Sonic also finds out he *really* likes biker Shadow.

Chapter 10 of A Work In Progress is out!

Summary: Shadow decides he and Sonic need to talk boundaries more and plans a date for them under the full moon.

Fluff ensues both metaphorically and literally ;)

Chapter 9 of A Work in Progress is up!

Summary:

Shadow comes back from a mission and doesn’t feel like going out, so Sonic comes to him instead, and things get a little heated.

P.S yes it has some heated kissing but it’s still teen rated :)

This won’t really be a reoccurring thing, I mostly do more fluff, which will be the focus of chapter 10 ;)

Chapter 8 of A Work In Progress is out!

This one is pretty simple and sweet but they have a lot of growth! Apologies for not updating about chapter 7, but that one goes with this one anyway. Hope you enjoy!

Summary: Sonic and Shadow go on a date and begin learning how to ✨communicate✨

Chapter 6 of A Work In Progress is out!

I don’t want to give away too much but let’s just say, I’ve been waiting for this chapter for a while…

Summary: A typical race between Sonic and Shadow gets out of hand… and then they go eat dinner together :)

This is very much a turning point in terms of the story and I’m very excited for the upcoming chapters! Enjoy!

Chapter 5 of my Sonadow fic is out! Holiday Party!

I swear I am not one of those “November 1st starts the holidays” kind of person, this just happened to line up in the timeline 😭

Anyways this one is pretty fluffy if I do say so myself! And it lightly leads up to the next chapter hehehe 👀 Enjoy!

Hiii so someone might have talked about this when it was actually relevant but it’s been on my mind and I haven’t seen anyone talk about it.

Everyone remembers these two gay scenes, right?

Am I the only one who thinks they’re related?

Like, one race Shadow is telling him “your focus should be on me” and then another race Sonic does this. It’s like Sonic is screaming “You want my eyes on you? Well here you go, you’ve got my full attention~”

It just feels like Sonic pulling that stunt is a direct response to that comment from the other race, which is really cute.

Once again I apologize if this has been discussed, I’m pretty new to the Sonadow fandom in particular lol.

Halloween Sonadow One-shot!

I wrote this one-shot in honor of Halloween! It takes place in my main fic “A Work In Progress” but it’s much more down the line in the fic, plus it can be read as its own thing if anyone is interested!

Summary:

Sonic has been keeping the fact that he’s still a werehog after the events with Dark Gaia a secret for years. When Amy’s annual Halloween party lands on a full moon, though, Shadow takes this as an opportunity to persuade Sonic to tell his friends, even if it takes a little extra convincing on his end.

(Or just Sonic, doesn’t have to be exclusively sonadow)

Not sure if anyone has done this, but yall ever seen those fun Halloween movies or show specials where the characters are cursed to become whatever they’re dressed up as, and then they have to figure out how to break the curse before the sun rises or before midnight, or they’re stuck as that forever? Picture that kind of thing but with the Sonic crew!

While it could be any costume, obviously the ones I have in mind are Sonic as werehog and Shadow as a vampire. Because who doesn’t love a good vampire and werehog 😌

And if you wanna make things *really* interesting… Sonic and Shadow sacrifice their chance to lose the curse to save everyone else from their curses. This leads to them having to figure out their new lives of being a permanent vampire and werehog (or whatever you want them to be) together :)

Finally finished chapter 4 of my Sonadow fanfic! We gettin to the good stuff now 👀 How we went from spooky fic in chapter 2 to the holiday party fic being the next one, I have no idea. Hopefully the next one won’t take as long as this one lol.

Anyways here’s the chapter summary for anyone interested!⬇️

Sonic’s friends invite him out to go ice skating, which Sonic is terrible at. Fortunately for Sonic, he knows just the hedgehog who knows probably more than anyone about the mechanics of skating to teach him.

This one is the longest chapter so far, so apologies in advance. I promise it’s worth it though. (Spoiler alert: gayness ensues)

Chapter 3 of my Sonadow fic is done! How I am managing to write one a day while at work I do not know lol. I thought it’d take a couple weeks to write all this but here we are. Anyways here’s the chapter summary below!

Chapter Summary:

Whoever wins in spars gets to ask the other anything they want. Shadow takes advantage of this to ask Sonic about something he’s been curious about.

This fic focuses on Sonic being trans! It’s also implied that Shadow is agender, he just doesn’t label it. Similar to the last one, it’s not something that will be mentioned much, but I thought the idea of Sonic coming out to Shadow was cute :)

I added chapter 2 to my Sonadow fanfic! In honor of spooky season this is a werehog chapter :) Werehog will not be a focus in this fanfic but I had this idea in my head for a while so I wanted to get it out. It takes place a few weeks after chapter 1. Enjoy!

Summary:

While Sonic and Shadow start to hang out more, Sonic has a hard time getting Shadow to stick around beyond their racing and sparring. One day, Sonic gets an idea, which ends up going sideways for him. Or does it?

Just wrote my first Sonadow fanfic! Well, at least the first chapter. It’s an idea I’ve had in my head for a while, and I finally just wrote it out lol. Here’s the summary below if anyone is interested!

Slow burn Sonadow :) Sonic finally convinces Shadow to open up a little more, which ends up going a long way over time. The first chapter is kinda like a long prologue that leads to the beginning of Shadow and Sonic getting closer. Each chapter after will be little one shot-type stories in the same storyline that all lead up to, y’know, relationship and feelings lol. While Sonic and Shadow are young adults in this, there will be no sm*t. If anything there may be some tension, but mostly few and far between. I’m expecting about 4-5 more chapters before the romance really blossoms, but don’t worry, there will be a lot of cute and romantic things building up to that point. Also, final thing. While I try my best to write the characters as accurately as possible, I will be inserting my own head canons ofc. Anyways, hope you enjoy! And feel free to comment tips or suggestions!

Is the title still a work in progress, or are the hedgehogs a work in progress? You decide :)

Sorry but I have to rant about this here bc SHE WAS DEF REFERRING TO SONIC AND I STAND BY THAT.

Abe of course thought of Maria, because he knew Maria and yes, at the time, Maria was the only one to get through to Shadow.

But Rouge didn’t know Maria. She may have heard stories, but she doesn’t know her. She never saw their interactions. So why would she reference Maria like that? It doesn’t make sense. It instead makes for sense for her to be referencing Sonic, the one person she’s actually seen get to Shadow.

It is canon and has been said that Sonic is the only one whose words can reach Shadow’s heart. We’ve literally seen Sonic get Shadow to stand down (e.g. IDW comics issue 6)

Also the way Rouge smiled, I don’t think she’d smile like that if she were referring to Maria. Everything just points to her referring to Sonic.

This only adds to the parallels between Sonic and Maria. Two generations, one who knew Shadow on the Ark and someone who works with him now, both having that one person in their head who can get to Shadow. I think it’s actually perfect that they added that comment Abe made about Maria, just driving home the point that Maria and Sonic have parallels in regard to Shadow.

Anyways thank you for listening to my insane rambles :)
