is SO GOOD. I finished it today feeling so happy and inspired. Everything about it is amazing- the characters, the writing, the humor, & refreshing diversity that’s handled respectfully and organically. Here’s to another fandom I’ve gladly buried myself in 👍👍
dark callum art for season seven
guys i love callum so much
yes i did draw this in the exact same style as the show.
The beauty girl🥰 what TDP does well is making the audience like and support its antagonists.
Started watching the dragon prince so drew a quick Callum
White as the star’s heart it pierced🙏
In my reposting my art from insta era
Thank you @dragonprinceofficial for giving us a character as awesome as Amaya and taking time and effort to animate ASL in the show.
This is a great show and all the characters are so fun. Have some Callum while I try to remember how to shade/colour things.
How far can a person bend before they break and how long can the broken be wielded before they turn double edged?
This season was so devastatingly beautiful, but ironically, the metaphorical crown wouldn't be heavy if the gemstones didn't dig into the head of the wearer.
Sometimes, the line between mercy and cruelty can be thin.
The reason WHY Claudia resonates so deeply with Aaravos' story is because it's a mirror that she finds herself in. She IS the daughter in the story but not the one who pays the price. No, that was paid by her father... her father, who was brave enough to do what Aaravos couldn't. What's heartbreaking is that she doesn't even realize what she's discarding is the same thing Viren chose to embrace in death; his humanity.
The loss portrayed was so unsettling...
To even the loss we felt as the audience, seeing what made Viren who he was... his own son, to seeing what he made himself and the loss of what could've been and how his death proved the one thing we didn't want him to show... him having a human heart. And that's what this show did magnificently... it made this audience root for people against our will.
From the unfinished story of the lovers forever frozen in time to the mournful ballad rayla sang to console the stormbringer.
The only thing left to see is how these weapons charecters are to be utilized.
How callum will embrace his darkness and if Rayla will be able to kill him if need be. Or if promises will not be the only things to be broken next time.
If this theory is right ( there is a high chance it is) then doesn't he have access to the sun seed. If the sun seed can be used to heal an arch dragon, imagine what aarovos Or claudia can do with it.
Pharos is Aaravos Marionette, someone on YouTube had the same thought as me and they made a video. If thats still true Miyana and Karim just gave Aaravos an Army.
What is the deal with Callum being a half-elf? Who the heck is Elarion?! Why Aaravos is so goddamn hot?! WHY THE FUCK EVERYONE DECIDED THAT RUNAAN'S HUSBAND IS CALLED TINKER?
Okay, so, now that I’ve had time to calm down and think instead of just freaking out, I’d like to actually talk about what I liked in season two.
All of the sibling relationships. All of them. Soren and Claudia’s and Callem and Ezran’s relationship were just so impactful and made me so so emotional. But also Sarai and Amaya. While we didn’t see a lot of them together, I think we was obvious from what we did see just how much they cared for each other. Speaking of witch-
SARAI. She was everything I’d hoped she would be and more. God, I love her personality, her voice, and most of all her relationship with her family. She really cared about them and her people and it showed. She was amazing.
And AMAYA. MY WIFE. She’s such a badass, I love her so fucking much. I want her to step on me ugh- But really, her fight scenes were amazing.
The humor. While I will admit the comedy in the show is quite... corny, I’d say, I still love it so much. Like, that parrot is the funniest thing ever, don’t fight me on this.
All of the magic we got to see was so exciting for me. I love it a lot, and I loved getting to see more of it.
Aside from his relationship with Ezran, I loved Callum this season. I love Ezran too, of course, but Callum and scenes involving Callum are what really made me emotional. Plus, I really enjoyed getting to watch his struggle as he tried to learn who he was. It was pretty relatable to me personally.
I LOVE AARAVOS. He’s horrible, and I love him. His design is beautiful, his voice is beautiful, and he’s a genuinely compelling character. I can’t wait to learn more of his backstory.
And I loved Lujanne. She was not at all what I was expecting, but she was so endearing. She was a goofy, sweet, grandma who I enjoyed every minute of seeing.
I was not offended by the queer death, and I’m very happy about that. I was a little miffed at most, but I feel that they handled it pretty well.
The music and voice acting was great as always, absolutely no complaints there.
And last but not least, DRAGONS. I fucking love dragons man, I cannot wait to see even more of them.
I know this isn’t the best written and most in depth list of good things about the season, but I just had to share because I really really love this show so far. Thanks to everyone who actually read this far.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
...
That is all, thank you.
Also, hot take: As a queer person I’m not that mad about Aanya’s parents. A little miffed maybe, but I highly enjoyed season 2 regardless. I’m also not entirely sure if I’d consider it byg. Definitely wasn’t queer baiting, though. A little bit of expansion on this thought in the tags, though not much.
Alright so... I never wanted this to be my first post, and I especially didn’t want it to be my first post about the Dragon Prince. I’m pretty sure a lot of you (assuming people will see this) know what I’m talking about.
The allegations of TDP queer baiting.
Now, before we start, I’d like to say that I understand being upset. As a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I know how much queer baiting and the bury your gays trope hurts. I am not in any way, shape, or form saying those tropes are okay. I am, however, saying we might be judging the show too early.
First of all, the characters in question are allegedly side characters. This doesn’t make it okay, but it does mean they are not killing of a non-straight main character. This is not an Adam repeat.
Second of all, we have been promised other rep. These side characters are not the promised rep. The show staff are not killing off our main rep.
Thirdly, this even allegedly takes place in a flashback. This allows me to assume that they may be some sort of historical figures or such. It would make sense for them to be dead if it’s related to an even that happened that killed off not only them but others as well. They do not seem to be killing them off just because.
Lastly, if you look at Aaron Ehaz’s twitter, He and someone who has seen the episode have addressed the issue. Aaron has agnoliged how hurtful the tropes in question are and has said the writers did their best not to fall into the trope. The other person to address it has said they don’t really think it fell into the trope and that it is not comparable to what happened to Adam. They said it was not used for shock value.
The Dragon Prince is not Voltron 2. They are lisenting to us and our concerns. They are not marketing to us just to get our money only to pay us back with what they know will hurt us. They are not saying we’re overreacting.
Anyway, that’s really all I wanted to say. I know this isn’t the best defense post ever, but I had to say something. Voltron hurt me just like it did many others. I truly believe The Dragon Prince will be different.
Thank you to anyone who actually read this whole thing. I hope you’ll stick around to see where this show may go.
....
...need I say more
Are there ideas you've had for the comic that you've completely discarded? Like, "no, that won't fit at all with how the worldbuilding/characters are, time to tearfully bid that idea farewell for now". And if so, What's the weirdest idea in the discard pile?
Elves being the larval form of dragons 😔
Fixed it
Edit: Refixed it
Another edit: This does not apply to incest or pedophilic ships you sickos
This wasn’t supposed to get any notes
Remember in the Dragon Prince episode when Rayla was pretending to be human.
She joked about how humans have shorter life expectancies. And then realized
Elves have longer life spans than humans
Rayla is going to outlive Callum and Ezran and she’ll watch them die while she has to live on without them…
