Tenya didn’t know what was going on with himself. He was never one for being the best with girls. Sure! He was attractive, but he wasn’t particularly charismatic (at least he didn’t think so) so he didn’t understand why you seemed so interested in him.

The poor boy knew you flirted with others, like Kaminari, Uraraka, Izuku was one of your favorites to tease, and even Bakugou, so why was he so affected by you?

He knew you were just teasing, he knew it was just you being friendly and joking around, but each time you made a comment about his body, or his hair or called him by a pet name, his heart raced faster than he did with his quirk.

Iida had never been too interested in dating in the past, seeing as how it brought a lot of stress and anxiety and sometimes a lot of pain, however, there was something about you.

Maybe it was the smell of weed on your clothes when you came in from smoking with Sero and Kaminari, maybe it was the style of clothing you had, maybe it was your nail polish and the rings on your fingers- but Iida was hooked.

To be fair, you were extremely pretty, so it made sense that the boy would crush on you.

Iida walked into the dorm commons, holding a glass. It was getting late, around 9:30 on a warm Friday night. The class was sitting in a circle, while Kaminari balanced a collective 13 phones on his arms, legs, and even a few on his face, all of them charging.

There was laughter and cheers as another phone was placed on the blonde, going on his forehead, before he sneezed, and the phones went flying off of him.

“What are you doing?” Iida asked with a deadpan, crossing his arms and giving an unimpressed look to the class.

Mina looked up and grinned “oh~! Iida! We were just playing truth or dare! You should play with us!” She encouraged with a wide smile.

Iida knew that truth or dare with his class could get pretty wild, so he opened his mouth to protest “yeah! Cmon Iida, it’ll be fun”

His eyes snapped to where you were sitting, and he felt heat rise to his cheeks. You wanted him to play with your class..

..Damn it. How could he say no to that face?

“F-fine..I suppose I could join this game for a bit..” he mumbled reluctantly.

You and the rest of the class whooped in celebration as he sat in the circle with you all. He was regretting his decision the moment Mina smirked. “So! Y/n! I believe it was your turn! So. Truth or dare?”

You smirked, leaning forward and winking at Mina “dare, lay it on me, mommas”

Mina giggled and hummed before gasping and glancing to Iida with a mischievous glint in her eye, that look making a pit grow in his stomach.

“I dare you to kiss Iida!”

You grinned at the dare. For you, it was simple, for Iida, his world was about to collapse. Him? Kissing Tenya Iida? Himself? Yeah he was sure he was going to pass out. “I-I do not know if th-this is a good idea Y- mph!”

You placed your finger over his lips and laughed “relax. ‘M not gonna kiss you if you don’t want me to, but I think it’ll be fun, Iida” you caressed his cheek after pushing up his glasses for him.

Iida flushed brightly, his eyes widening ever so slightly. Why would you give him the decision?

“I-I…I do not mind I-if you kiss me” he managed to stutter out “it is just for a game after all” he let out a breath and adjusted his glasses.

You smiled gently, running your thumb over his cheek. “That’s what I thought.” You smirked “good boy”

He gasped and blushed, but didn’t get to say anything as you pressed your lips to his.

Iida’s eyes fluttered softly before closing. The kiss was amazing, your lips against his felt amazing.

He was dazed as you pulled back, his eyes slowly fluttering back open, and his cheek bright pink. You smiled and tucked his hair behind his ear “I like your chapstick. You should let me wear it more often”

Iida blushed and looked off to the side, trying to stay cool as you sat back in your spot.

He didn’t want to admit it, but he knew for sure now, he was crushing on you, and there was nothing he could do about it.

MEETING TENYA IIDA:

he probably already knows your name, quirk, and a brief summary of your academic record before actually meeting you. he did his research, okay? UA is prestigious!.

first interaction? most likely during orientation. he's making sure everyone is following the rules, and you're probably one of the few who actually are. instant respect.

if you're even slightly late to class, even by a minute, you'll get a polite but firm lecture about punctuality being a vital trait for a hero. he's not trying to be mean, he's trying to help.

introductions are formal. a deep bow, a clear enunciation of his name, and a summary of his goals as a hero. prepare for a handshake that means business.

he'll probably (and literally) run into you in the hallway, especially if you're rushing. a sincere apology is issued, accompanied by a lecture on the importance of being aware of your surroundings.

study sessions become a thing early on. not necessarily because he needs help, but because he's happy to provide it. be prepared to take very detailed notes.

if you ever defend him from bakugo's explosions or teasing, he will be eternally grateful. like, writing-you-a-thank-you-note grateful.

he respects your dedication to becoming a hero, and that's a major factor in him even noticing you beyond a classmate. he admires hard work and resolve.

TENYA CRUSHING ON YOU:

the crush hits him like a speeding engine. one moment he's focused on hero training, the next he's acutely aware of your presence.

he tries to analyze his feelings logically. he'll write down a list of your positive traits, comparing them to the qualities of an ideal hero. It's... endearing.

he'll attempt to be "casual" but fails spectacularly. expect stilted conversations, overly formal greetings, and maybe even a slight stutter.

he starts noticing the little things: the way you focus in class, the way you help others, your smile. he may even write these things down.

secretly, he admires your quirk. he's fascinated by its applications and effectiveness. he'll ask you about it, phrasing it as "research," but it's really just an excuse to talk to you.

he becomes fiercely protective of you during training exercises. he won't let you get hurt, even if it means risking himself.

if he sees you struggling with something (homework, a training technique), he'll be the first to offer assistance. expect a detailed explanation and hands-on guidance.

he will absolutely ask his brother, ingenium for advice (and get teased relentlessly). tensei probably gives him the worst, most cliche love advices ever.

the confession is direct and earnest. he'll lay out his feelings clearly, explain why he admires you, and ask you to consider being his partner. no beating around the bush.

dates are planned with military precision. expect a detailed itinerary, backup plans, and contingency measures for every possible scenario.

he's a gentleman. doors are opened, chairs are pulled out, and he always walks you home safely.

PDA is kept to a minimum. maybe holding hands while walking, but anything more is reserved for private moments.

with villains becoming stonger as the years go on, the iida family realise they will need to toughen up if they want their future generations to stand a chance at becoming decent heroes. especially after what happened to tensei.

to preserve their prestigious lineage, they arrange a quirk marriage for tenya, with a reader whose quirk is related to stamina or durability, in hopes to bear offspring who are both fast and hardy. reader comes from a poor background so they agree in exchange for money to support their family.

at first the marriage feels very much like business and tenya treats it as such; respecting you as much as he would a co-worker. which, albeit, is a lot but he doesn't care about you the way a husband should. he opens doors for you and will help you with household chores and is generally nurturing during your pregnancy, but he has no interest in sharing a bedroom or even eating dinner together. because he may be the father to your child, but he's not your friend.

it goes on like that for a while, until one day he hears you crying in your room. he's not monster, so of course he checks on you to see what the issue is, and you explain to him that you're afraid of what will happen if your child doesn't inherit a composite quirk. if you would be replaced and left to care for it on your own. he reassures you that he'd never abandon you or his child, and that the two of you could always try again. success doesn't come easy.

however, the moment of vulnerablitiy he shared with you was exactly that — a moment. afterwards, he immediately went back to being stern and distant, which contributed you putting up walls to protect your feeling from if he were to ever disappoint you again in the future. like a mantra that repeated in your mind constantly, he doesn't love you and you don't love him.

he never picked up on your increased resistance though, not until three years after the birth of your child and they began displaying signs of a fusion quirk. he turned to you, delighted, and you appeared relieved too, but he was left gawking incredulously after you said, "how lucky. thank the lord we don't need to have another child. one was hard enough."

hearing that caused his heart to drop, as he realised who he had become and the cumulative impact his behaviour has had on you. how could his own wife depise him to that extent? this question haunted him because he knew the answer, he just never had the strength to confront it before.

he had to do something to fix it, now. loving him wasn't necessary, but he needed to prove to you his worth as a father and a husband. he did his best to attend every single one of your kid's baseball games with you, he'd buy you a new bouquet of flowers every week, he'd kiss you on the cheek as a show of affection, whenever you needed a self-care day he'd arrange time-off work, he'd take the family out to the aquarium and the zoo and disneyland and wherever you pleased.

but none of it was ever enough to penetrate your rigid defences. despite his best efforts, he was left with a wife that hates him and child that may grow up to resent him. what a legecy he has paved.

one night, he is sat in bed, doing some light reading before he goes to sleep, when his child sulks into the room. they explain they had a nightmare and want to sleep in their dad's bed tonight. of course tenya agrees and usually there isn't any problems, but tonight the child continued to stir, until they requested, "can mommy sleep here too?"

tenya blinked. usually he would bend over backwards to cheer up his kid, especially as they are having sleep troubles, but this is a bit more complicated as you might be opposed to the idea. however, there was no harm in trying, so tenya sent the kid to your room to ask if it was okay with you.

and of course, you adore your child with everything you have, so if sleeping with your useless husband is what it takes to help them rest soundly, then so be it. you trudge into tenya's room and plop down on the queen-sized bed, with your beloved baby nuzzled between you two. it actually wasn't as awkward as you initially thought, and all three of you are lulled off into the serene night.

tenya woke up before you, so he was the first to realise that your child had snuck off in the middle of the night, while the two of you subconciously cuddled each other. hence, he had you wrapped in his strong arms, with your face nuzzled into his chest.

even with bedhead and a bit drool smudged on your cheek, he thought, you were still so beautiful. so much so, he couldn't help but smile and protectively tighten his grip on you. so funny too. sarcastic yet sickeningly sweet and caring.

had things been different, he wondered if the two of you would've truly been in love. he reckons so; you really are his type, and the perfect girl, which is something he's realising all too late. he blames the circumstances and wishes more than anything that the two of you could've met organically, because although he isn't the best husband, he would give anything to have been your boyfriend.
