I can't not think about the parallels between what Fydor said in the new chapter and the last episode of the umbrella academy.
What is saying here(and in the previous chapters) is similar to when they talked about how the birth Hargreeves and the others children with power was causing the apocalypse in the fourth season.
This made me think about how it resembles the ending of the season, where the original timeline was all peace and joy.
So...just a random things I made because I don't know what to do until February
Dazai as Klaus Hargreeves AU
15!Port Mafia Klaus/Dazai:But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time
12!Klaus:Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time
22-30! ADA Dazai:I got a list of names, and yours is in red, underlined
All of his version trough the years:I check it once, then I check it twice, oh
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do
Look what you just made me do
Look what you just made me-
Ooh, look what you made me do
Look what you made me do

Anyway I'm working on the first two chapters
The most of people like fluff fanfictions, smut fanfictions or even angsts.
But no, my brain decided that I must be obsessed with Watching the show/reading the book fanfictions.
A Umbrella academy and Bungo stray dogs crossover.
Chapter 1 WIP!
“We announce with immense sorrow the death of Reginald Hargreeves, found dead in his bed in the early hours of this morning.”
Reginald Hargreeves, billionaire, adventurer and inventor, died of heart failure on March 21, 2019.
His adopted children, once known as the child heroes of the Umbrella Academy, learned of this in different situations and from different parts of the world (and the solar system)
Luther, number 1, received the news from Pogo, while he was on the moon.
Diego, number 2, found out about it from the television of a house where he was "arresting" some thieves.
Allison, number 3, found out from the reporters, blinded by their cameras and dazed by their questions.
Vanya, number 7, found out about it when he saw the news on a TV in the window on her way home.
They were all shocked, in a mixture of joy, sadness and even anger. It was a feeling that only the four of them, the survivors, thought they were capable of feeling.
But there was a person in Yokohama who felt similar emotions.
Number 4, once Klaus Hargreeves, but now known as Dazai Osamu, received the news leaning on his desk at the Armed Detective Agency, while chatting with his husband, surrounded by colleagues who for years now he had considered his real family.
-Come on chibi, I only gave him some candy, it's not the end of the world!- -Isn't it the end of the world? Our son just locked Higuchi in the closet and is now running around a house full of sharp and dangerous objects, just because you gave him enough sugar to make him go on a hyperactive rampage!-
-He's not wrong, it's your fault.- Dazai turned to his brother, who was relaxing on Kunikida's desk
-Shut up Ben! And you better get off your desk before Kunikida-kun comes back and tries to kill you again.- The ghost stuck its tongue out at him -This would only happen if I made myself tangible-
Osamu decided to ignore his annoying brother and dedicate to his annoying husband - Don't worry Chuuya! I will send Atsushi to free Higuchi and stop Kazuya!- As he spoke these words, Kunikida entered the room, and Dazai knew something wasn't right.
The blond didn't scold him for not working, instead he approached him and handed him a newspaper. -I swear that if it's about the incident the other week, I don't know how it ended up in the newspapers- Ben rolled his eyes and got off the desk to look at the newspaper.
Kunikida instead pushed the newspaper to his chest, and Dazai noticed that his hands were shaking slightly. -You better be one of the first to know.-
-Well, it must seriously be something important if…- He stopped when he saw the headline on the front page:
He barely heard Ben next to him freeze and some members of the agency approaching curiously. He could only hear the sentence inside his head, over and over: Is dead. Is dead. Is dead. I'm free. I'm free. He can't take me back there anymore. I'm safe.
It was as if a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, a fear so unconscious he hadn't noticed it in years. And now he no longer had to worry about that creeping possibility, he would never return to the mausoleum, ever again.
-Osamu, are you okay?- He was so relieved that he didn't even realize he had made Ben tangible. His brother had put a hand on his shoulder and was looking at him worriedly.
-Never been better Benny-boy!- He smiled and took the phone from the ghost's hand, who probably took it to warn Chuuya.
The said person was still demanding information when the husband put the phone to his ear -Osamu, what the hell is going on? Ben told me to look for a newspaper and..-
-Reggie is dead!- He said it in a cheerful tone, intoxicated by that sense of freedom. There was silence on the other end of the line as Chuuya processed the information.
Just as he had done with the agency, at a certain point in his life Dazai had told him about who he was before Yokohama, about when he was Klaus Hargreeves, about his brothers and also about the mausoleum.
Crack AU Concept:
Some months after Ben's death, Klaus disappear. Reginald told them he was founded dead. But was really what happened?
After finding out about is father's death, Osamu Dazai decides to go to his funeral for fix is bond with is siblings, that they believed he was dead.
A semi-restored sibling bond, the power of friendship, a bit of Port Mafia skills and a very huge family dinner could save the world from the apocalypse this time?
Or: A "Osamu Dazai as Klaus Hargreaves"crackfic because I'm addicted to gacha reaction videos and I need to cope with the last season of the umbrella academy.
Me: ok, this show/manga/book I've started is really good, let's enjoy it without getting spoiler.
Tumblr, Pinterest, YouTube and all the social media in my phone: I don't think so! *Proceed to make appear all the spoilers in my fyp*
Anyway, I'm starting to watch The umbrella academy, and I'm super invested in it.
if she has no tongue how can she talk
soundwaves through her vocal cord. talking is a bit different for her, if she were to talk like a normal human being, it would sound like a squelches or crawling catterpillars.
And thank you for the question!
One of my ocs in the tua verse. She doesn't have powers it was just a birth defect, no it's not a real one, it's just that she can open her face instead of having a normal mouth.
Facts:
was not born with powers (birth defect)
Sharp teeth
Last to be adopted (10 years old)
Five is her best friend since they both went to the apocalypse together (she was 12 and five was 13)
Buzzcuts her hair because yass queen slay
Has moles
full of homicidal rage
Eventually besties with alfonso
Becomes Jayme's girlfriend (GAY)
kind of became five's assistant through the years in the apocalypse
"it's fine" she managed to seethe through her teeth in anger.
Her arms look like mannequin arms
Five likes to play with her arms
Really close with five
Wears the boy uniform
Gets a cat (s2)
Is known as number 8
Longs to be "normal"
At some point had a crush on five but it went away when she saw him eating a cockroach in the apocalypse (lol)
Love language: touch, death threats
"I... I'd chop you up in a meat grinder.. and the only thing that'll come out is your eyeball.."
When her mouth is closed it will look like she has a slit through her face from the top of her head to her chin
Does not have a tongue
How does something so small have so much sass?
Years of anger issues
I recently finished The Umbrella Academy
This is Five with my Oc, Seth Hargreeves
Their story: they were adopted by Reginald after six years he adopted the other seven, he turned Seth into number seven instead of eight because of his abilities. His power is (I don't know which to choose) fusion/stretchy limbs. He/him/they/them.
Is no one going to talk about the fact that Viktor went through most of the season 3 in the same clothes, that Umbrella Ben died in?!!!
……. I-I am feeling a lot of emotions rn. This is not what any of the siblings deserved. ALSO LILA AND FIVE?!?!?! I think i am gonna go and bleach my eyes. Uggghh, now im just gonna bing the first two seasons to be happy again.
I’m just starting the new season of The Umbrella Academy, i have heard terrible things so far, so wish me luck
They are my favorite Sirius and Regulus variants
Just watched the trailer for The Umbrella Academy season 4, and honestly, congrats to Netflix for finally finishing a series and not cancelling it!! (I am so excited for this to come out)!!!!!!!
Music To My Ears
Note: Okay, so I've had this idea for a long time, basically a HC of what it would be like if Five (when he comes back to 2019) brings along his wife who is also his partner from the commission- who is super talkative, especially when she's nervous.

The first time he had seen Y/N, he simply wanted to kill her. Not only did she give away his hiding spot from the enemy but she would not STOP TALKING.
"Hi! I'm Y/N, I don't really have a last name, but it's an honour to meet you Mr.Five Sir. You're a lege-"
"Shhh!"
"It's alright they won't hear us!"
"Woman, please I don't need a partner, especially not one as annoying as Klaus!"
"Whose Klaus?"
"Tch no one-"
"HEY THEY'RE OVER THERE"
"SHIT"
And on that same mission Five got shot in the leg, which she kept apologising for over and over again, until he had to verbally say 'IT'S FINE PLEASE, JUST STOP TALKING I NEED TO THINK!'
Slowly, verrry slowly, she began to grow on him, killing wasn't his most favourite part of the job, and everytime she began talking nonsense he could tell she wasn't a fan of it either.
It didn't take him long to figure out that she would ramble on for hours a day when she was scared, nervous or just tired, especially on gruesome missions.
Yes, she would not stop talking even when she was drained. At one point he wondered if Delores thought he spoke a lot too. Until she ended up changing the topic of conversation around 5 times in 1 hour- no, this lady was a crackhead.
It was almost a year in their partnership and the Handler was pleased with their work. For Five was already a legend, he learnt that other than the useless chatter, the girl was a great assassin- quick, slick and brutal.
On one occasion, when Five was cornered and exhausted, he thought he was toast, almost ready to give up. He heard, "NOONE CORNERS MY PARTNER!" And gun shots.
They were all shot in the head
"Execution style?"
"Actually, I was super mad at you when you told me to stay at the motel because I'm very annoying and noisy. Like I get I can't be Delores but please I am my own person! I don't need to be someone else for you to accept me and hey! I am a great assassin by the way! Sure I talk a lot but before your rude a** came along I was running the show punk and-"
"Thank you Y/N, you saved my life today."
And that leaves her speechless, a whole year of knowing him, he had never thanked her, let alone ever spoken to her softly.
He smiles at her and hobbled to the car muttering a , 'You don't have to be Delores, you're better of as you.'
And that was the first mistake the boy made, because after that he began to notice more things about her that he liked.
The way she would ever so politely talk to people. How she was able to get intel by being nice- instead of using the interrogation methods he used.
More than often things would flow smoothly if she would do the talking.
3 years in and he wakes up one night, to get water and realises that she's not on the other bed. So he checks the washroom and she isn't their too.
Grabbing a bathrobe he goes out to the motel parking and finds her sitting on a bench, the cold night breeze tossing her hair around as she grips onto her cup- tea he presumes.
So, like any sane person he decides to give her some privacy, until he hears her sniff.
He goes and sits beside her and is just:
'Wanna talk?"
"No"
"NO?!?!?"
And she shakes her head, so he doesn't encourage her to speak, instead sits their quietly beside her, letting her cry silently.
An hour later he realises her head is on his shoulder and she mutters,
"When you go back, will you leave me?"
"I don't know..."
"Can I come with you?"
"You? But, I'm no fun nor a party goer, darlin' . I'll probably end up being an a** to you-"
"Would an a** have sat with me in the middle of a chilly night outside, letting me cry?"
And for once in his life Five had no answer. The resident genius had no clue to why her words had brought a sensation of tightness around his chest, why he felt her words cut through him. Was he actually going to leave her? If there was anyone (after Delores) who understood him, or rather had the balls to stand up to him, it was her. Yet, he had never realised how vulnerable she was on the inside.
That night ignites a fire within him, because 2 months later, on a mission in Hawaii, where the two are standing in a field of dead bodies he turns to her. All bloody and messy,
"Hey!"
"yes?"
"NOW GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANSWER, YOU GOT IT?"
Utterly confused, she nods at the weirdo who looked like he was about to explode.
"MARRY ME?"
"Sure."
"I SAID A STRAIGHT ANSWER NOT A LONG EXPLANATION YOU - wait what?"
"I said, yes, Five Hargreeves, I'd like to spend whatever days I have left with an a** like you."
Cue the most abrupt and small wedding and exchanging of vows. Not that it mattered to either of them, because as soon as their 'secret wedding' was over, they were sent on another mission.
Naturally, she was rambling along the entire way,
"I really thought we could have cake though, but I guess we did have to keep it low key, oh speaking of low-key, I booked us a fancy couple's room I had been saving money for
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)"
"What's with the face"
"You know~"
"Okay, I officially married Klaus."
"but, but, but you love me either way~"
"Seems to be so, now please stay quiet, we're entering their base and the last thing I want is to lose my wife on the second day of my marriage."
"WAIT WHAT"
"SHHH!"
Give or take many years later, the couple in their fifties is staring at the blue portal. Holding hands, both nervous, one quiet while the other...
"THIS BETTER WORK FIVE, I BETTER NOT END UP BEING TELEPORTED TO THE 1500's I AM TELLING YOU! WAIT! I DONT EVEN KNOW THE NAMES OF YOUR SIBLINGS, OTHER THAN VANYA AND KLAUS -"
"SILENCE WOMAN, ON THE COUNT OF THREE WE JUMP. 1 ...2-"
"3 I WIN"
And she pulls him into the portal as he yells at her.
The two end up on the ground with a loud thud.
Getting up he pulls her up and is just staring at her, up and down.
"Really Five, not a good time to be checking me out- wait why are you a child"
"shit."
"does anyone see a little number Five with ...a random girl?"
Without responding he drags her into the kitchen, the siblings following in right after. Watching him make her sit on a chair at the end of the table while he is preparing something.
Slowly they start interrogating him.
"It's been 22 years Number Five, where have you been?'
"It's been a lot longer than that."
"What happened to you?"
He places a sandwich infront of her and starts to devour his own.
"What do you think happened? I decided to test the limits of my time jumping, see how far I could go. Turns out, pretty far."
"Then how did you get back?"
By now, Y/N is visibly shaking in her chair, too nervous to even eat, staring up at Five who seems to be having a a not to pleasant conversation with his siblings.
Before responding to Allison he turns to look at her,his features softening, something ALL the siblings notice, "It's okay..." He whispers to her, "Eat."
"By projecting our consciousness backwards into a suspended quantum state version of us that exists in every possible instance of time."
"That makes no sense."
"It would if you were smarter."
"Granted, it did take me a little time to work out all the nuts and bolts of it."
Five notices that she's still not eating and he frowns only to glare at his siblings, "Stop staring at her you're freaking her out."
"US? YOU BROUGHT A RANDOM KID HERE FIVE"
"Random kid?" She slams down her sandwich. As Five smirks, 'well, at least she's better now'.
"I AM NO RANDOM KID, IM HIS WIFE. And by the way HE ISNT CRAZY- other than THIS MAN IN A NICE SKIRT I DONT SEE ANYONE WHO ONCE ASKED HIM HOW HE WAS? OR IF HE WAS OKAY? OR IF HE WAS ALONE!"
"Oh? danke- WAIT WIFE? Five DID U KIDNAP HER @?!"
"No, we're in our fifties."
"WHAT"
"Yes, now well that's established, Five we should really hurry up. Also, why don't any of you look similar? Didn't your dad die today? Wait, are you all here for a funeral - you guys have been fighting ever since you showed up huh? Not a lot of love I see, no wonder my husband's a little crackhead too. By the way, why are you so big? Oh- *turns to Vanya* you're the lady from the book, nice book by the way, family tea is the best, not that I'd know, I have no recollection of mine-" with that she got up and randomly walked out of the kitchen, a nervous wreck, something only Five could see.
"Five is she insane?"
"Ofcourse not you big ape."
They could still hear her go on about something from the other side of the house to which Diego frowned, "She talks a lot."
Five just grabbed his sandwich, walking out of the room, with a
"It's music to my ears."

Chaos
[Part I] [Part II]
[Five Hargreeves x Reader]
Summary : A very chaotic reunion.
Warning : None.
Chaos isn't something Five Hargreeves would choose willingly. Ever.
He wants a break.
From being a child superhero, to getting stuck in the apocalypse, then the journey of being an assassin, and proceeding to prevent the aforementioned apocalypse.
Him and his mind have been on a never-ending marathon.
So pardon him if he wants to take a step back and just relax.
This road trip was supposed to be the first step.
Was. Because Klaus derailed his plan.
Although, he'd admit that it hasn't been entirely unpleasant, as he waits for Klaus by the car, he concurs that this trip so far is nice.
The green field stretching around him, the subtle caress of sunshine, the gentle breeze, the complete absence of Homo sapiens. It's all very relaxing.
There's a sound. The distinctive sound made by cows. A cow's moo, to be precise.
His gaze trails over towards the sound— cattle grazing peacefully. He smiles, taking a deep breathe—
And promptly chokes.
Chaos isn't something Five Hargreeves would choose willingly. Ever.
But that doesn't mean, Chaos would show him the same courtesy.
Because Chaos, it seems, has a taste for him.
Deceptive in the appearance, well mixed among the shades of brown, black, and white. There, amid the serene creatures, stands chaos incarnate—
You.
Don't, his mind warns.
And of course, he won't. This is supposed to be his retirement. Why would he want to turn that upside down? Ridiculous notion, really. He would not—
His mouth has a mind of its own because it has already parted and yelled your name.
His voice echoes. Your name echoes. And if he must be dramatic, then the time has come to a standstill.
In a blink, your head snaps in his direction.
You blink. Once. Twice.
A grin spreads across your face—and he's startled by the confusing thought that whether it's really the sun that's shining or it's just you.
"FIVE!"
And you're running. Hands wide open. His eyes widen—feeling like a man standing before a bull, red cloth in hand—You're running, running towards him.
You are closer. And closer. Closer—
You trip.
Five sighs. In a few long strides, he closes the distance between you two.
Hand gripping you above the elbow, he hauls you up. "Are you okay?"
"Okay? No, I am not!" You reply, though your expression remains ecstatic. "I am—I am—I am," your brows crinkle in thought.
"Are you—"
"Phantasmagorical!" You exclaim. Fingers curling around his arms, you shake him a bit. "I'm phantasmagorical because I've met you. Been soo long."
Squealing, you hug him.
His palm is on your back in an instant, supporting you as you stand on your tiptoes.
He breathes in, willing his muscles to uncoil. It takes a few seconds before he lets himself rest his chin on your head.
All too soon, you release him.
He shoves his hands in his pockets, lest he did something stupid like draw you back again.
"What are you doing here?"
"Where?" You tilt your head, nose scrunching in a way he has always found adorable.
"Among the," gesturing towards the surroundings, "Amish."
"Ah yes," you nod, in a sage voice, "For peace."
He quirks a brow. "Really?"
"No."
A smile threatens to curl at his lips. "Then?"
"So there's this husband-wife duo, and they were my neighbours in the city. And then they stole stuff from my house. So, they're not husband-wife duo but thief duo, which honestly I kinda respect—"
"So you came back to get your stuff back?" He queries, cutting off what would undoubtedly be a long ramble.
You nod in an absentminded fashion, before snapping out of it. "What? No!"
He exhales in exasperation. "Then why?"
"I came here to get Lila's kraken plushie—"
"Wait, Lila is here?"
"Yeah, we came together—"
"What's she doing—"
Your fingers snap his lips shut together. Literally.
"No Lila. Pay attention to me. I'm here." And as if to prove that you are indeed here, you start jumping in front of him, hand open like wings, chanting, 'eyes on me, eyes on me, eyes on me.'
As if his eyes are even capable of being anywhere but at you when you're near him.
Rolling his eyes, he grips your 'wings' and pulls you closer.
"I'm never not looking at you," his mouth seems to have found a mind of its own.
There's a flush rising on your cheeks, and he feels a twinge of pride at extracting such a reaction.
"As you should," you say.
His confidence abandons him in a sudden manner when you peer up at him through your lashes.
He looks away, stepping back. Clearing his throat. "Need any help retrieving the stolen item?"
"Oh, I got it back on the first day I arrived here."
"Then why are you still here?"
"Having a bit of fun with the thief duo."
"So, antagonising them, and being a general chaos," he surmises.
"Haven't I told you, the thing about chaos is that—"
"It's fair, yeah, you have."
"You know what's not fair?"
"What would that be?"
In response, you settle your hand on his shoulders, fingers playing with the hair on the nape.
He suppresses a shiver.
"Having figured out that the more the love, the more the chaos. And then not being able to confess, for almost two years. Because, you see, it happened after I caused a bar fight after telling a man that this other man was making goo-goo eyes at his boyfriend. And then a brawl started, and I thought, 'huh, look what chaos love can cause.' And then I realised that If I'm chaos, then love is you—"
"What?" His voice is a whisper.
"You are the fuse of my chaos. And I would really like to be the fuse of your love, which is only fair—"
"What?" His brain is lagging.
"I love you!"
"What?" White noise.
You huff, standing on your tiptoes, face dangerously close to his—his heart is travelling all around his body in a frenzy—and his eyes close.
His nose stings.
You… You bit his nose.
His eyes flutter open, fixing on you. Rubbing a hand over the ache. "You absolute menace."
"Your menace."
Well, that's just unfair. Especially that impish smile of yours. "My menace are you now?"
"No."
Oh, for fuck's sake—
"But I want to be," you continue. "Will you let me be?"
Maybe his response is a bit too quick when he says :
"Yes," relief apparent in his voice. Tugging you near him, enveloping you in an embrace.
"My menace, mine." He words it out loud to solidify this moment, sealing it in the space-time continuum by pressing a kiss against your temple.
You both sway lightly, finding a middle ground between chaos and calm.
But of course, being the magnet for all things chaotic that you are, it doesn't last long.
In a flow, the cows explode and then Klaus is shouting, Amish people chasing him down.
And you?
You are giggling in pure delight. "Oh, isn't this fun?"
He says nothing as he puts you over his shoulder, blinks into the car, and promptly deposits you on the passenger seat.
And as he drives, he glances at you and Klaus— rambling and laughing and causing a ruckus.
Chaos isn't something Five Hargreeves would choose willingly. Ever.
But, if it's you, he'd make an exception.

He had wrecked you.
“I don’t think… I-” He pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes scrunched up. “We can’t do this anymore. You’re my wife, and I love you. But I’m not… in love with you. Do you know what I mean?”
He had wrecked you, but you stood taller, agreeing with the man child. So he didn’t love you after every piece of you was offered to him on a silver platter. He didn’t love you after you nursed him back to health in the apocalypse. He didn’t love you after you assured him that it wasn’t his fault all of you were separated, stuck in time.
He didn’t love you.
“No,” you laughed breathily, strained. “I get it. I totally get it. It’s no problem-”
“I’m glad,” he said, giving you a tired smile. “Now, I suggest we both go get some sleep. It’s been a hellish twenty days, hasn’t it?”
~*~
You had grabbed a tight-fitting sweater and overall shorts. It was much better than the uniform, you had to admit.
You hopped down the stairs of the hotel, greeting your brothers and sister in law.
Correction: Ex-in-laws.
“Good morning, peeps! How are we all doing?”
“Excellently, dear sister of mine,” Klaus responded. You stiffened; he didn’t notice. “And how are you this morning?”
You were crying all night.
“I’m amazing. Best sleep of my life.”
Allison’s shirt was soaked.
“Mimosa, (Y/N)?” Five called out from behind the bar. He was dressed in a t-shirt, a flannel and a vest…and a fedora. A plaid one.
“You look like you’re retiring and about to go on a fishing trip with the grandkids.”
“Oh ha ha,” he mocked, starting to pour you a drink. “You sleep well?”
“Best one yet. I don’t care if the mattress smells like sweat.”
His nose wrinkled. “Do you need me to run and grab you some new sheets?”
“I think I’ll take a trip today; I have nothing better to do anyway.”
He nodded. “Just be careful- there are a lot of alleyways that weird shit happens in.”
“Oh, well that makes me feel better.”
Before he could respond Klaus ran up to the both of you. “Okay, so I know that you’re retired Five, and I’m assuming your lovely wife-” You both winced; again, he didn’t notice…or he didn’t care. “-is also in retirement. What do you two say to a road trip? It’s what retired people do! You two, me, the countryside! What do you say?”
Five looked at you; you looked at Five and shrugged.
He won’t go. He would never.
“I got nothing better to do,” you said, smiling up at Klaus. He clapped his hands together in child-like joy, bouncing up and down slightly.
“Wonderful! And you, you old geezer?”
“I guess I’m in.”
Well, fuck me.
~*~
Five had pulled out a map of tourist locations in Pennsylvania, pointing things out to Klaus as he was driving. He ranted on and on about these things, just like an old man in retirement. He turned around and pointed them out to you, too, explaining things that may cater to your tastes.
“Okay, okay, listen to me, Five. Hold on.”
“Alright,” he said, smiling sarcastically. You felt bad; this was the first thing he was really enthusiastic about- the happy kind of enthusiastic. Not the obsessive, overbearing cloud of stopping the apocalypse. “I’m all ears.”
“So, I lied. We are going to Pennsylvania to find my birth mother!” he shouted, as if he were making an announcement. Your mouth dropped open. Well, now Five would be really pissed.
“Are you kidding me?!”
“No! But if I told you, you wouldnt’ve come. (Y/N) would’ve because she’s just a sweetheart like that-”
“Thank you?”
“You’re welcome, (Y/N/N), you beautiful soul.” You made a face- something between confused and unsurprised. “You would not have come! I chose you two for emotional support?”
“Emotional support?” Five hissed. “You-”
“I did.”
You buried your head in your hands.
“BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE!” you heard Five shout. You shot up, only to see the sign presenting the words “WORLD’S BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE.”
“No, Five!”
“Come on-”
Five leaned over the seat quickly, gaining control of the wheel. You squeaked as the car made a sharp turn, almost running into two others. One nearly grazed your door.
“We’re going to die!” Klaus shouted.
You agreed.

Five was impressed with the ball of twine. It wasn’t a bad trip, you realized. You’d witnessed wonderful things there, including the validation Five had been craving from his siblings.
It was so nice, in fact, that Five had held your hand lightly as he was looking at it. Your eyes were wide and staring at your hands, but he was just looking at the twine.
He’d broken up with you in Dallas about fifty years before, technically. But to you, it was a few days.
You’d been crying every single night. You haven’t been eating as much.
So you pulled it back, crossing your arms, playing it off as if you were cold. He noticed. He noticed nearly everything, really. He quickly looked down at his empty hand, and then back at the ball of twine, something unreadable in his eyes.
So, here you were. One of Five’s favorites was playing, and he was singing along. You were sitting on top of the car, looking out upon the cows in the field.
He kicked the top of the car.
“Yes, Five?”
“What do you think about Hershey Park?”
“Won’t we need money for that?”
“Not if I can jump us in-”
“That’s illegal. And, along with that, I was making plans to move to New York. There’s a few jobs in my department; I can go to high school there, apply to a couple colleges. I can start over.”
He was quiet for a few seconds, the silence fragile.
“I see.”
“What are you going to be doing with your retirement, Five?”
“Go to Hershey Park.”
You cackled, throwing your head back. “Yes, because you love chocolate so much.”
“No, but you do. I thought you might want to go.”
Your heart stilled. “Thanks for the thought, Five. I appreciate it.”
The wave came through then; you could feel it rush through your system. And gone were the cows. Five clearly realized that too, stumbling out of the car, immediately looking at you.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, but I don’t think the cows are,” you said, looking at the empty field.
“Can’t I get one fucking day off?” he whispered to himself.
~*~
It had been days since then. Five had gotten you new sheets; you had thanked him; he’d been looking at you; you’ve been looking away.
And on and on and on goes the cycle.
So here you were, watching the happy couple dance, nursing your drink. Maybe your last one.
But suddenly he was in front of you, his hand outstretched, beckoning you forward.
Wordlessly, you took that oh-so-familiar hand, and let him lead you to the dance floor.
He held you closely, a little too closely, your chests pressed together, his chin on top of your head.
“What are you doing, Five?”
“I’m dancing with my wife, what else do you think I’m doing?”
“Uh- Five…I thought we broke up. You aren’t in love with me, remember? You just…I don’t know. Love me? I’m not your wife anymore, Cinco.”
“We’re not divorced yet, Sweetheart.” He dipped you, you looked into his eyes. You looked into them and saw everything. You didn’t understand any of it.
He hadn’t called you “Sweetheart” in a long time, either.
“Don’t call me that, Five. And don’t look at me like that, either.”
“Like what?”
“Like you love me.”
“Darling,” he whispered, moving one of his hands to your head, threading his fingers through your hair. He moved his head lower, too, burying his face in your hair. He pressed his lips to your head. “I do. I was wrong. I don’t know what came over me- maybe it was…I don’t know. What I do know is that I am desperately and wholly in love with a woman that deserves so much more than me. But, by some miracle, that woman fell in love with the scum on the bottom of her shoe, and that little shit took it all for granted.”
You stiffened.
“I’m in love with you, (Y/N) Hargreeves.”
“Not a Hargreeves.”
He pulled you in a little closer.
“We’re not divorced yet.”
“Yet.”
“And it won’t happen.”
“And how do you know that?”
“Because I don’t think there are any lawyers around here to make it official. Just because the ring is off doesn’t make it legally undone. And-” He stopped himself, pulling away to look you dead in the eyes. You turned your head away; he gently turned it back, keeping it in place. “-I will not be stopping until I earn that love back, even if I’m still about as much as the dirt on the bottom of those heels.”
You pulled away for the final time, abandoning the dance floor, leaving him alone.
~*~
You two were stuck together again for the first time since the wedding. None of you spoke, you just stood there, wandering the hotel.
You decided to break the silence. “So is this the other shoe, or did it drop a while ago? Oh my god, do you think these monster guardian things have multiple pairs of legs?”
He wrinkled his eyebrows, but answered. “I hope they don’t. More work for us.”
A noise erupted from the silence, he pulled you to him by your waist.
“Five, really?”
“I told you. I’m earning love back.”
“Protecting me isn’t gonna-”
“Then what will? I don’t care that we may have minutes to live and that everything outside of this God-forsaken hotel is destroyed. I’ll find a way to make it happen. Here-” With sure, and oddly steady, hands he reached into his pocket, producing something you thought you left behind. “I have this. Do you remember the day I gave you this?”
Your ring. The silver band you’ve worn since what felt like forever.
“I remember.”
He slid it onto your finger; you let him.
“Then you remember what I said to you-”
“You don’t- Five, you meant it then. That doesn’t mean-”
“Oh, (Y/N),” he snarled, angry now. Your eyes widened at the change of tone. “You can’t honestly think my feelings have changed. I was a fool. I was being stupid. I don’t know what the hell was going through my head, but I broke you the fuck apart. I knew I was wrong the second I said it. I’ve been trying, (Y/N). I’ve been trying to work up again, but clearly you need for me to tell you because you are in such fucking denial that you can’t see what’s right in front of you. I am in love with you, Mrs. Hargreeves. And that’s not changing for shit, so you better get used to it, whether you want to stay together or not.”
You wanted to stay. You did.
But his mind could change just as easily as it did before.
“Five, your mind-”
“Is set. You’re it. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
And then you laughed. It was breathy, and marred by your tears, but he began to laugh too. He pulled you into his chest, breathing you in.
“Please. Just… stay. Please. If we do this, if we save the universe in the million to one chance we have, I’ll spend every day for the rest of my life making it up to you.”
“Starting with Hershey Park?”
“Most definitely.”
Stay
[Five Hargreeves x Reader]
Summary : You are hopeful, you are exhausted, and you want Five to stay.
Warning : None.
Is this how it will always be?
This constant tug of coming and going, but never staying.
"Can't you stay for a little longer?"
Five sighs. Tired gaze settling on you. "You know I can't."
Can't or won't? You bite the retort back.
You met Five in a coffee shop a few months back. A conversation over black coffee was the start of it all, and now here you are, stretching at the seams of what you want and what he can give.
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright. I understand," you reassure.
And you do. His father, the academy, his duty, his family, you understand it all.
You just wish there to be a small corner in his heart for you.
You hope, with time, he will stay.
•••
"We have talked about this," Five argues.
No, we haven't. You talked about it and I listened.
"Is ten minutes more, asking for too much?" Frowning, you peer at him.
"I can't," he states, voice curt.
"Can't or won't?" You retort sharply.
You both aren't who you were when you met over coffee. It's been…you don't even remember how long it's been since you've known him. But you know, it's been long enough to hurt.
"You think if I'd the choice to stay, I wouldn't?" he fumes, glare infusing into his eyes as he stalks towards you.
You've never done it before, what do I know?
"I—"
His hands grip your shoulder, firm and unyielding. "I would."
He says it with such conviction that you believe him.
Desolation wraps around your lips and curls up. A smile bitten out of your heart, you offer it up to him on a platter.
And when he leaves, you hope the next time he will stay.
•••
"I can't do this anymore."
Your whisper is a proclamation. A despairing sound crossing over the chasm of silence between you and him, carried across by the bridge of shattered hope and bleeding love.
It's been years upon years of you consciously hiding behind the carefully crafted walls of ignorance and delusion. No more can you muster the strength to hold them up.
"Don't say that," the crack of his voice mirrors the one in your heart.
"I can't keep doing this," exhaustion slips past your lips, you hope it drains him.
"Just give me—"
"No," you cut him off. "Give, give, give, that's all I have been doing, that's all I have ever done. Don't you see?"
He walks around your bed, towards where you stand— by the window.
Once he's near enough, he lifts his hand to touch you, or embrace you, or calm you, but you turn away, so he thinks better of it.
"I'm sorry."
He's always sorry.
When you used to spend all those late nights or afternoons with him, listening to him, you'd deduced that apology wasn't something he was a master of unlike all other subjects.
You'd thought that apologies were a delicacy when it came to him. How wrong you were.
"Please, I can't do this without you," he's pleading, and yet it's not enough to stir the sympathy within. You want to cry all the same.
"No, Five, I can't do this. I can't let you do this to me anymore."
You keep gazing out of your window, so you don't have to see him.
Nature is a contrast of you. The air is dry, your eyes are not, the leaves aren't rustling, but your being is, the moon is full and yet, you're waning.
The night is the only comfort, reflecting the endless abyss you've fallen into.
He shakes his head, and with it all the semblance of acceptance. "No. Look me in the eye and say that."
So, you do. And you see.
In the depth of his eyes you see an unsettled ocean, oh how deep have you been drowning in them. The more you hold his gaze, the more you realize.
You cannot breathe.
You look away, if you keep looking into those eyes you'll surely suffocate.
"You can't, can you?" It's not a question. An observation. A declaration. It's Five Hargreeves arrogance.
"Your eyes suffocate me." You hope it hurts. "Your presence suffocates me." This time, when you look at him, you hold his stare.
"You don't mean that," the pain that invades your ears snaps you back. Not entirely. No. But just enough for the string tying his heart to yours to burn in agony.
The bridge of shattered hope and bleeding love is in ruins, and ruins rot, and you can't let them destroy you alongside. Ruins must burn.
"I do."
You burn the bridge.
The hush that falls after your decision is one that consists of broken shards, sharp enough to cut, to draw blood.
And they do. There's blood in your ear, copper in your mouth. Seconds tick by and in the torturous quiet you and Five both bleed together.
This is how the moon must feel—hopeless and splintered and wholly caged—when gazing down at those who cry under moonlight.
"I should leave."
The air near him shifts closer to you for a fleeting moment and then draws back.
"Five?"
"Yeah?"
"Don't come back unless you plan to stay."
He doesn't reply. Makes no promises. Just leaves.
And you?
You hope and you hope and you hope.
•••
When you come home, the first thing you notice is the air.
The air feels more welcoming, more mellow. As though the stagnant rust that had dried over the molecules has finally been stripped ; renewing everything.
Your eyes linger on the open door of your bedroom.
Breath in. Breath out.
Giving yourself a moment or two, to let the overwrought heart still, and the agitation in nerves to abate.
Silent are your steps as you tread across the living room towards the open door.
And there he is.
Five Hargreeves does everything in the proper way, cannot fathom doing anything in a way he considers less than perfect.
His presence isn't a surprise.
How could it be? When he'd announced it in bold calligraphy over rose-scented parchment saying, "I'm coming home."
Your gaze sweeps over to him.
Leaning against the open window, with his head tilted up and eyes closed. The afternoon sun shines down on him in sublimity, golden rays weaving through the lining of his skin.
He looks like home.
"It's been eight months."
The silvery thread of your voice tugs at him, unfurling the ocean of his eyes that you used to drown in.
"I know."
You fold your arms. "Bit arrogant of you to presume we could just pick up right where we left off."
"I don't presume." He shakes his head, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I know."
"Oh?" You raise a mocking brow. "Is that so?"
"I have lived your love." His words are laced in nostalgia, it splashes on your face. "I have known your love. I know your love. And maybe, maybe I'm being arrogant here, but this arrogance comes from confidence, from belief in your love."
"I am tired, Five." So is my love.
There are more words you wish to say, however they are a jumbled mess. It doesn't matter because the softness of his eyes says that he understands.
"I have always fallen back on you, known that no matter what you will always be there. I'm here so that, you know, you can fall back on me now."
You sway on your feet. Warm tears eclipse your eyes. You step closer to him.
"And you won't leave?"
"I'm here. I'm here to stay." He extends his hand, the curl of his lips, the shine of his eyes, everything left open and raw for you to see.
And what you see is the promise of comfort and rest. Of peace and love. Of him and you.
So, you take his hand. And he pulls you in an embrace.
You meet him like the first rain after a dry spell. Like the cold droplets falling over the burning earth, soothing and mending the cracks. Except you both are the drought and the rain— you're his drought as he's yours, and he's your rain, as you're his.
I'm home, you think, as his hands envelop you entirely, while your come to rest upon his chest.
Heart sagging as it lets go of exhaustion. You hide your face in the crook of his neck, and he finds shelter in the nook of your shoulder.
Together, you succumb into each other.
Melding and merging with every breath, the essence spilling over. A game of hide and seek without the need to seek because you've already found each other. But you are hiding, somewhere near the core of your respective beings, finding solace by the soul.
There's much to talk about. But not now. For now, you're tranquil beneath the mirage that there's no one but you and Five in the world.
Sighing, you nestle into him.
Is this how it will always be?
You hope and you hope and you hope.
..................................................................................
A/N :
This one was inspired by the exhaustion I felt. Some abstract exhaustion that made me want to just succumb into someone.
And then I remembered this quote by Kafka— "I would hide my face in you and you would hide your face in me, and nobody would ever see us anymore."
And I thought, well there's no one to hide face in other than the pillow, but let's create something out of it! So yeah channelled all that into this.
It's a bit heavy on the prose...yeah I think the Sandman fic I'm working on has something to do with that.
Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed this.
Thankyou! ❤

a/n ! you're called as 'eight' in this fic since this is set before five went into the future. forgive me if i somehow mentioned the ua's given names
Every harsh word and curses you earned from your interaction with Five was always worth it. The feeling that even though he loathed your presence, it still gave you the relief of his acknowledgement of your existence. Admittingly, it did make you feel a little bit blue that not even once did he act nice towards you or at times where you insisted to help him and he didn’t thank you, not as much bothered to give you a small nod of appreciation or just look at your way. You once thought that maybe it was just how he is, a cold-hearted boy devoid of love making him invulnerable to everyone showing him any amount of affection and maybe add daddy issues to that list but to be fair you and the rest of your siblings have one too but none of them were like Five. It did confuse you that why only was he an asshole to you, but you were known to be the most patient among the rest of your siblings so you gave Five a chance to rethink whatever agenda he has on you and prayed to whoever was up there that the time you and him finally be friends would come around the corner.
Deep down, you wanted it to be more.
One day, Five felt comfortably fit in the huge walls of the Academy for the first time, but then suddenly there’s you who randomly found solace in sticking too close in his space. He made the effort to always put his piqued expression everytime you’re around, to his dismay it didn’t once have you scurrying away from him nor took the hint that he didn’t want you around like he mysteriously grew a tail one day. Five found it sickening that what greets him every time he ascends downstairs after getting ready for the day is the sound of your voice greeting him a ‘Good morning’ to which he once replied ‘Now it's ruined.’ but surprisingly you laughed at his response thinking it was a silly joke. If Five were to rank all his siblings from the smartest to the dumbest, you’d be the last on the line. After that, he started ignoring all your small greetings. Claiming to himself it would just slowly ruin his life.
The day Five prayed that one day you would magically damage your vocal cords was the day Number Three and Number Four had finally caught up with your attachment to him, where the rest of you woke up earlier than him on a Saturday morning, all gathered in the living room about to enjoy the game of Monopoly. Which you protested to have Five join, not wanting him to be left out. Unknowingly, Three and Four shared a look as you rushed upstairs to wake him.
Five groaned sleepily, having been awoken from his deep slumber by a cheering you shaking him awake. He assumed it was still early in the morning considering his body would instinctively wake him up at twelve in the afternoon whenever Reginald’s on a business trip, to which he already knew since he announced it the day before. Of course the naive old man would think that all of you would obey his orders to practice your skills while he’s away, to which none of you would ignore and coming up with a lie was one of the things the Umbrella Academy’s good at.
"Five! wake up! We’re going to play a board game with the rest in the living room. Dad’s not around.”
You tugged at his pajama sleeves to which he yanked back, shoving his head underneath his pillow. To avoid an accidental peek at your figure. Already hating the aura radiating off of you by being in his room.
“Go away, Eight.” he fumed, his voice muffled. Five wants nothing more than to blip you out to the ends of the world from interrupting his dreams. Sure it may be just the ‘tired him’ speaking, but he swore that one of these days, he’d finally had enough of you and would do it without any hesitations.
“But the last time we didn’t include you, you didn’t talk to us for days.” You frowned.
“Well it’s different and I don’t want to be near you, now go!”
For a second there was a pause, deciding what to do to convince him. As you opened your mouth to speak, you’re prevented to let the words out as Five spoke once again,
“Shut the door on your way out and don’t come back.”
“Okay then, I’ll just send Six for you for the next round.” You begrudgingly said, ignoring the way his tone sounded harsh, maybe he’ll come around later.
Not waiting for his response or more likely not wanting to aggravate him any longer, you turned to leave his room, making sure to shut his door gently as he requested.
“What took you long?” Seven piped up, seeing your figure sauntering towards them, they were sat on the carpeted floor, circling around on the board game, prepared for you and Five’s arrival but it was just you.
“oOoH! Is it because you two were sucking each other’s faces?” Four interrupted, wiggling his eyebrows at you, Three giggling beside him. You hadn’t missed the shocked faces on the rest, especially Seven who was suspicious of you and Five but paid it no mind since he seemed to skirmish around you, though she was once convinced it was just a cover up to hide yours and Five’s feelings towards each other. Well, it did work on One and Three once when they were at the age of ten. That was two years ago.
“What?” You yelled, eyes wide.
“We know you like Five, Eight.” Three gushed. The rest of your siblings are still lost for words.
“No I don’t.” You defended, taking place on an empty space between Six and Seven.
“Look, it’s completely okay to date him, it’s not like we’re all related, right Number One?” Four said, looking over at Three who now froze at the mention of the name.
“Four..” One warned, though his cheeks reddened visibly, not oblivious to what he was implying about. It was no secret that he and Three had this sort of relationship that was neither confirmed nor denied. The looks they’d send each other at the table every breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was also a surprise that Reginald had not once found them sneaking off to each other’s room nor the obviously more than platonic way of them holding each other’s hands after every mission as they posed for the camera. Not the rest of you though, if asked who all of you would rather choose to stay loyal to between siblings and Reginald, you would choose your siblings without a doubt.
“What? It’s not like I just revealed a big secret, At least one of us had caught you and Three trying to kiss each other.”
“Will you lower your voice?” Three said, her head tilted down in embarrassment.
“Are you and Five really together?” Six broke out of his silence for the first time, still processing what the conversation had turned into. Even Two stopped his fidgeting on a rubik’s cube to listen to what you had to say. All of them now diverted their attention from One and Three to you. Three silently sighed in relief, having been saved from the awkward tension.
“No, What made you even say that, Four?”
“Please, the look on your eyes whenever you look at him never misses.”
“What look?”
“Like you just drowned into a pit of marijuana juice.”
“What?” All of you simultaneously said in puzzlement.
“Your pupils grow larger, I mean.”
“So?” You replied, still missing his point.
“You don’t look at Two or One or Six like you want to kiss them.” Two and Six blushed from the thought.
“Who says I want to kiss him?”
While engaged into a deep childish conversation, the rest of you grew mindless to the increasing volume of your voices that had now echoed around the empty mansion which had also prevented Five from falling back asleep. Even though it was muffled as much he couldn’t make out whatever all of you were talking about. Deciding he had enough of it, he barged out of his room with an angered look displayed on his face, rushing downstairs. Then he heard your annoying voice which added fuel to an already raging him, but grew curious to what you just said.
“Kiss who?”
Just as Number Four was about to argue with you again, he’s interrupted from the groggy voice of Five standing on the entrance of the living room. All of you turned your head on his figure. Heat immediately raised to your cheeks, the thought of Five eavesdropping on a conversation about him was enough to make him hate you more, if he as much mistakens your friendliness towards him as something more, he would do whatever it takes to finally eliminate the obstacle that blocked him from the pathway towards an Eight-free life.
“Uh-Nothing! It’s Nothing!” You rambled. Nervously defensive.
“Stop playing around Five, we know you and Eight are love birds.” Four laughed. Everyone sat completely still from his words. A gasped escaped from Number Three as the rest just stared dumbfounded at Four. Then the atmosphere thickened in tension as you felt a familiar sting rising in your eyes.
“FOUR!” You stood from your sitting position.
“WHAT?” Five queried, more angrier than he was previously.
“Five- I- I- I don’t know what he’s talking about.” You tried to play it off by lightly laughing.
“You told everyone we’re together? What the hell is wrong with you?” He said with disgust.
“No I didn’t!” You sauntered towards him but Five slowly backed away from your reach. Four could feel the guilt swallowing him as he watched the exchange he had caused, Three elbowed his side, earning her attention, she gave him a look of disappointment. Seven and Six now looked at you with empathy as they too gave disapproving looks on Four.
“I’m gonna get us snacks.” Number Two walked out of the room, not wanting to watch the scene.
“You want to kiss me? Ugh- I would never kiss you, Eight. Just stop being so weird around me.” He bellowed without any hesitations.
Without another word, Five turned his back on you, returning back to the comfort of his room, leaving you there to sulk in your feelings as you watch his retreating figure grow blurry. All you heard at the moment was the sound of your heart breaking into two sharp pieces, piercing you just right the first drop of tears escaped your eye. Not that you were sad to find out what you bare for him is unrequited but the thought of him even hating you more than he already does. Not that you really do have feelings about him. Or do you?.
The situation made you feel even worse as it finally came to you that Four just outed you like that to him. You felt betrayed and small in the middle of the room. All eyes on you.
“Eight- I'm sorry-” Four, who now slowly made his way to you tried to rest his hand on your shoulder which he failed to as you swiftly left the room with a gush of the wind and in a blink of an eye the second he muttered his apology.
The room was then once again met with silence. The Hargreeves siblings gave each other looks from the events that had just ruined the start of their day. Not hiding their disappointment in their brother.
“Way to ruin the bonding Four.” One was the first one to break the silence, soon following suit as he too left the room, then Three and Seven tailed behind him, not sparing a glance at Four.
“I’ll just raid the kitchen with Two.” Six said, not wanting to be the last one remaining, leaving Four alone in the living room. The board game abandoned, untouched.
Five hated being wrong at times, he liked to thought of himself as smarter and more mature than most of his siblings even his ego convinced him that he would make more of a good leader than Number One but he wasn’t as selfish as to steal that title from him, everytime One would ultimately fail one of his plans, It would feed Five’s ego, which he would then jump up to save the day with a new plan. Of course the rest of you would thank him and his brilliant back up plan. Except One though, even after Five saved him from Reginald’s scolding, just like his super strength, One had the thickest skin to get through out of the rest of you. Not that he hated Five, but it did bruise his pride that someone would steal his spotlight. When Number Four once joked about how Five should be Number One, it had stuck with him and would sometimes bother him at his worst times that Five in fact, was better than him at all things.
Well it didn’t help that one of his favorite siblings, you, thought that too.
Five have always taken notice of you desperately clinging on to that hope that he’d finally give you the attention that you’ve always wanted. The nice gestures you’d throw his way whenever you passed by him in the hallway, giving him a gift every Christmas even though he never returned your favor, there were no hard feelings you harbored towards him and it felt nice to Five that someone was able to put up with his behavior. He remembered the time he once said mean things to Number Three and since then she acted hard towards him or the time Six accidentally spilled his milk on his newly tailored suit and he scolded him, now the poor boy can’t look at him straight in the eye for more than a second. He’d say the only siblings he can bear the presence of is Two, Four and Seven. There was just something about you that raises his blood to the point he’d leave the room whenever you step foot in it, his chest tightened with his eyes darkened as he watches your figure walking straight towards him mainly to rain havoc to his sunshine-y days.
He would roll his eyes at you as your eyes light up as soon as you see him. With a sigh and a voice in his head saying ‘here we go again’ for the hundredth time.
As the rest of his siblings would say, you were the center of the solar system, where your ultimate demise would darken every corner of the house, every room you would step foot in would be graced by your luminous joy. It was not surprising that no one has ever seen you cry nor had they heard your sobs in closed doors. They just simply assumed that your kindness and your loving nature had made you immune to dejection.
Not until the first time Five had seen you on the verge of shedding your first tear in front of him.
Five realized that he seemed too harsh on you the second he slammed the door to his bedroom shut. Sure it seemed wrong that you liked him in more ways and it somehow made sense that you are too nice to him despite his worst behaviors towards you. Maybe he overreacted back down in the living room, he debated with himself that once he cools down, he’ll apologize to you even if it seemed out of character for him. He hadn’t remembered himself being nice towards you and then a sudden feeling of guilt started to grow inside him that day.
With a heavy flop on the bed, Five, for the first time regretted his ruthless attitude towards you, and even though he finally fell back asleep, it was with a weighty feeling in his chest that had made it not worth it. He was sure the next meal was going to be filled with tension.
Then the day Five prayed that one day you would magically damage your vocal cords was also the day he realized he’d rather listen to your voice than to stay in the void of loneliness for eternity.
Reginald Hargreeves arrived back home just in time for dinner. But not before discussing with One what activity all of you were engaged in while he was away to which One smoothly told him a lie all of you had already planned on tricking him.
His lack of care for his children had him mindless to the sudden change of his surroundings, but he was appreciative of the silence in the room, usually he had to scold whoever one of you for even sighing in front of the food.
Five was the last one to sit at the table, his tardiness had Reginald shook his head at him. He hurriedly made his way on an empty seat, but to his surprise, the seat on his right which you have claimed to be yours was occupied by Seven and then across him was you in Seven's usual seat besides Six, your head down as you focused on slicing your steak. He must've starred a bit too long since Seven went in to lean closer to him,
"She wanted to switch places." She whispered, giving him a pitying smile, and she soon resumed her meal.
Five secretly wanted you to greet him the moment he entered the room, risking a scolding from Dad for interrupting the radio playing in the background. He thought that by now you would forget what had happened earlier just like you always did whenever he'd curse at you. But this time was different, he knew he went too far when he humiliated you in front of your siblings. He couldn't blame you for ignoring his presence, he knew he deserved it and even if you wouldn't treat him the same as before, Five would just accept it as it is.
"Children, before you return to your respective room, I ask of you to have your suits ready and rest early for tomorrow we have a mission to comply. I pray that your training earlier while I was away would be of help in our success. May all of you do well. Now you can all go."
Chair dragging on the floor resonated the room, you being the first one to leave your seat in a hurry of wanting to be in the comfort of your room, the whole meal you could feel eyes on you making it harder to stay at the table any longer.
Especially Five’s staring at you and it didn't help that he was just right across you, if it weren't for Seven's not so discreet voice leaning in to notify him about how you switched seats with her you wouldn't have known. You knew it bothered Five that you acted cold towards him for the very first time and it filled you with a great sense of joy how much he didn't know how you hold so much power in augmenting his pride. After what he pulled earlier, you've come to a conclusion that maybe ignoring him would soften his shell that prevents him from being human towards you or maybe not but either way you've got nothing to lose, you still have the rest of your siblings who cherishes you.
Four has been trying to get your attention as much as knocking on your door while saying his apologies on the other side, you did listen but some alone time was all you needed at the moment. You couldn't stay mad any longer to him so you briefly replied with 'we'll talk tomorrow' in which Four completely understood.
Five badly wanted to stop you from avoiding him, your fast pace and your head bowed as you counted each step you took, he wanted to reach out to your inviting wrists and beg for forgiveness even in front of his siblings, Reginald and Pogo.
But he never did as he watches you slowly leave his line of vision. All that he's greeted with was the sound of your door slammed shut.
A suffocating feeling had your mind enter into a blissful trance, a flashback of what life had to offer you even in the not so pleasant times. As you recall each and every detail of memory from how the clouds were formed that day to the shape of the moon that night. Every choice you've ignored and chosen, your emotions that you let loose and take over, trinkets you found and kept on the small box you've hidden on the bottom of your drawer, all the smallest things had brought you here right at this moment. Maybe for a second you wished to have gone back in time and change all that but your untimely death would have contributed to a good change someday in the future of your siblings. That they'll finally learn how to find that glimpse of happiness all on their own, independently.
You'd miss their voices in bright daylight that greets you every morning, it did annoy you at times but it's a reminder that you are blessed with a scarred yet lovable family that gave you a will to go on with life. There were times that made it hard to live in the household, a very well known fact amongst you that all you were but weapons created by Reginal Hargreeves himself but there was no hatred you bare towards him, after all he did give you shelter, food and clothes. You wondered what would've happened if your real mother chose you instead of whatever huge amount of money your father offered her. That she decides she wants you and would try to be a mother even if your existence was unplanned. Would life be simpler? Would it feel like something's missing? Would you feel less happy? Would you feel content in life? Will it change who you are? Will your biologically related family love you just the same as your current one or perhaps even more? Would it take more than years to find your true potential? Would you still have met Five? You're curious if even if it did happen, maybe you wouldn't have to lie down in your own puddle of blood, choking in a thick red liquid as every gasps of air sends a sharp pain on your open wound, you hadn't noticed your lack of blinking as you focused on the white pristine ceiling, the diminished sounds of gunfire as it's replaced by the sobbing and sniffles of your siblings. Your hand clutched on your soaked blazer right where a knife had plunged itself onto your skin, everything felt like it's happening outside your mind, then you were spectating far away, unable to do anything but cry at your helpless body, watching life slowly drain out of you.
You hadn't noticed how Number Three had rested your head on her lap, Four and Six on either side of her as they shook with what could be the most traumatizing events they could ever witness, how they wouldn't be able to think about you again without remembering your bloody form. One and Two had now approached the group, eliminating the last of the enemies in the building, but they weren't prepared for what they were about to see.
"Hey, we got the last of the-" One halted, his eyes finding your lying figure. Two's knife clanking with the marble tiles as he too is overcomed with what the mission had cost them.
"I-I don't- I don't know what to do.." Three sobbed. The Umbrella Academy fell into a brief silence as if time itself stopped to grieve with them. Painfully so, what filled the gap was the sound of your gurgling. Six encased your palms in his comforting warmth, he wasn't so sure if it were to make yourself better or him.
"Eight.." The blonde boy kneeled in front of you.
"We could still save her," He said, taking your body as he rests your head against his shoulder. More blood flowing out of your mouth from the sudden change of position, staining his uniform.
It was a sad sight to see, a group of children barely teenagers having to watch such a disturbing scene. A mark that would truly stain their life forever, the very day they will always remember.
"Where's Five? He could just- just bring her back home immediately." Everyone could see their leader's bloodshot eyes, tears threatening to spill but he had forced himself not to.
"C-c-c-could he do that?" Two quivered, placing himself besides Number One.
Just as if on queue, Five blipped himself in the same room, his face scrunched immediately in confusion as he's faced with One's back on him and the others surrounding him with tears on their faces. He began to make his way towards them, eager to find what the commotion was about.
"What's going on?" With a few more steps, Five stood frozen in shock when he saw you bleeding out in One's arms. The others now look at him with sympathy.
"Eight!" The boy kneeled in front of you with a worried look.
Five’s familiar voice had you pull your last remaining strength to move your eyes right at him. The small movement had the others sighed in relief that there could still be hope to save you. Even in your current state, your heart still hasn't failed to skip a beat whenever you're given a small acknowledgement from Five. It was probably the third time he had called you by your name. You are met with the very set of green eyes that have always brought you comfort, except that it was without disdain present in it but tears forming on the corner of his eyes, blurring his vision.
"Five you have to save her!" said Three desperately.
"How?" Five blinked, tears now falling on his cheeks.
"Just do your spatial jumps and bring her with you back home!" She pleaded, "Please, Five."
"I don't know if I could do that." He replied in defeat, it felt as if he was being punished at the moment.
"Just try!" One interrupted with gritted teeth.
Gripping the sleeves of your brother's arms around you, you managed to catch everyone's attention. All that was left of you was the patiently heavy feeling radiating off of you, awaiting the cold hands of death as it lulls you in it's embrace, eyes taunting you that there's really nothing your siblings could do but watch as you take your last breath, as life flows out of you for the first and the last time. They knew it too, a wishful thinking they've chosen to indulge themselves in hopes of making the situation less hurtful. Just like you, the rest of them wanted to jump back in time and change every choice they made that day to prevent your death. It was inevitable. A sad truth is that the ecstasy of life has to come to an end. Though it will still come back but in a new form.
You're not sure if they could see you shaking your head side to side or if they knew what you meant right at the moment, but there really was no other way to communicate without using your strength nor the blood stranded in your throat —wanting to be let out.
"No? What do you mean?" Five rests his palms on your red stained cheek, full on sobbing. All he got as a response was a saddened raise of your brows, mirroring his emotions.
"Please can I hold her." He turned to One.
His brother gave him a curt nod, moving so that Five could scoot in and replace his hold on you. He carefully held your head and placed it on his lap, your eyes never leaving his.
"Hey Eight, you're gonna be okay."
"You're gonna be okay…"
Five swore for a second he could see your mouth slightly move, it was as if you were trying to utter but a word through your strangled breathing, even more so his name coming out of you. Though the only thing he got was the first release of sadness cascading down your face. Too focused memorizing every detail in your eyes —the longest he had looked at you and possibly the last time, he hadn't noticed your raised hands reaching towards his own cheek. He flinched from the sudden contact and then he held it in his own, laying your palms flat on his cheeks. Five ignored how cold your hands felt at the moment and your pale lips. The sharpest and thousands of needles punctured his heart, his breathing matched yours, suffocating him with every slow blink you made, it scared him that when you do, you'll never open your eyes again.
No words were spoken between you, yet both of you understandably knew the other was hurting, what the other was thinking right at the moment. You knew Five was filled with regret and no matter how you wanted to tell him that you forgave him for everything, you settled for the touch. Maybe he'll know all you wanted right at the instance was to stare in his eyes and memorize every speck of color littered in his Iris. Green and hints of blue suited him. It reminded you of the earth itself, how everytime you stare at it, it reminds you of home.
The rush of winds dancing and twirling enthralled your senses, the soft brush of it as it twists and turns your hair, ocean waves crashing and making brushing noises as it kisses the sand all over and over again. Sea salt enamores you and drives you to close your eyes in its comforting presence, the sunlight you've always grown to love embraces you in its warmth, the temperature was perfectly balanced, neither cold nor hot. For the first time in your life, you're walking barefoot on the soft grains of sand and then you find out it's the best euphoric feeling to sit on, feeling and mushing it on your hands. All you could focus on was the sound of nature, reminding you of Five’s voice. A voice that makes waking everyday worth, a voice that puts you in trance, and even in the afterlife, it will still feel just the same, only it will be just in your memory, that is if you still remember anything.
With a final sigh, your body lay limp against Five, only your eyes weren't shut close and to think he was afraid of it closing, Five changed his mind and grew confused by your sudden halt of blinking, then your hands felt heavy in his.
"Eight?" White noises entered his ear, shaking you awake, everybody knew it was useless. The group of children now emit heart-shattering cries.
"She's gone Five.." Six announced through his choking sobs.
It took him minutes to drive his eyes away from you, and when he did, the sound of sirens resonated as if in a queue. The Gods were playing a game on him.
The Umbrella Academy knew that they will never be the same again, even though a year has passed, not a day goes by that they don't get eaten away by guilt. Everyday was a waking curse, the door to your room remains closed as all of them makes their way out of theirs in sync and it was with a gut wrenching sensation as they make their way down the stairs without the familiar sound of the heels of your shoes, the way you trip on the second to the last of the stairs while you greet each of them a 'Good morning', though it only was a good morning indeed with your cheerful voice that makes them question if you aren't capable of having even just one bad day. They had convinced themselves that you somehow were an angel in disguise, bringing light on their gloomy lives.
From the first week without you, a large portrait of you was placed just above the fireplace. The rest had thought it symbolizes that even without your presence, your warmth would still make the room less cold when necessary. It was a known fact that you were mindful of your surroundings, where you could be a little clean freak at times and would fix your siblings' messes, what they missed the most was how you treated every single matter as somewhat alive. Not one have you thrown away old toys nor have you broken one, only you gave it away to children who needed it more. The people had noticed your very same figure in and out in the same orphanage not more than ten blocks away from the Academy, it warmed many but it wasn't the reason for your generosity. You've always believed that others should experience every happiness that you've gone through.
If there was one thing your siblings couldn't not notice was the vase sitting just on the side of the staircase, where you'd pick the dead ones, bury them in the backyard and replace them with freshly picked ones, claiming the bright colors insinuates the darkish tone of the house.
Now that you're gone, no one dared try to touch the welting flowers. Afraid to taint what you have last touched.
Seven had returned to her original seat beside Six, leaving an empty reminder beside Five, dreadfully mocking him every time they had their meal, his appetite would always go away. In turn he would play with his food and even if Seven had told him that he needed it for energy and how you wouldn't have liked how he's starving himself, Five would snap at her with a 'she's not here now, is she? she's dead.'
Five’s deep hatred for Reginald started the day of your funeral, there was a blank look on his permanent stoic face, as if to say he'd rather sulk in his office than attend his own daughter's funeral. He had hopes that maybe there was still something humane inside Reginald the moment it was his turn to give one final speech for you. Only that what came out of his was insults and scolding about how the Umbrella Academy had failed for the first time in their life. Pogo had both mourned and radiated sympathy from the rest of him and his siblings slouched form, their father being insensitive.
There came a time when Five didn't have to brood for the empty seat besides him. The first morning where it really felt like you're just a figment of imagination in his head, that all you were now was a piece of memory made to be forgotten and what's left of you was the empty locked bedroom and your painting. Five grew disoriented with the new table set, then there was Number Seven who now had her seat facing their father, both the sides of the table perfectly balanced with three chairs on either. No more empty seats. He didn't know why but it felt less reassuring.
Five hated the change around the house, taking away what used to be yours. Treating you like you weren't a member of the family. Like you never even existed at all.
It all came to him in a flash, the second his father sent him back to his room to rest after giving him a lesson about time traveling. Five contemplated on what this could mean, what this potential could do and how he could turn back right in time to prevent your death. It was risky but all he thought about was the smiles and tears of joy from the rest of his family as he miraculously revived you. The free time he had would consist of him working on a solution, it took over his notebooks, whiteboard and even one side of his wall as much he tried asking for spare parchment from Grace, Pogo and his siblings.
When he was confident enough, the thirteen year old boy had not hesitated to break the one rule of conversation during meal times, interrupting Herr Carlson in the background.
What he didn't know was it could change his life forever.
"I have a question."

You were both running to get to Allison, his arm was around your waist, the other arm stretched toward the cornered woman.
“Thanks,” she heaved once the three of you made it to the upstairs.
“No problem,” Five said.
And then you saw her. She was a taller woman with electric black hair and green eyes.
He told you guys to go, that he’d handle the woman. While Allison ran, you lingered, hiding behind the wall, watching.
He hit her over the head and she let out a groan of pain. Good. He could handle anything, your boyfriend. You had no doubt he’d be able to handle this easily; after all, he was probably the quickest thinker out of everyone. He could do anything and everything and that was only one reason you were irretrievably, desperately in love with the man.
And then came the spit, along with a hiss bubbling from the woman’s mouth. Jayme, you think her name was. Jayme. It sounded about right.
You wrinkled your nose, much like Five who began to berate her. “Agh! Hey, gross, alright?”
But before he could continue the usual lecture about sanitation, his face went glassy. Sweat built up on his forehead, and he began to walk around almost aimlessly.
“What the hell?” you heard him whisper. His eyes were directed toward the stairs, as were Jayme’s.
You ran out, looking at him, but didn’t touch him. Disturbing people when they’re in a trance could end dangerously, you heard.
“What did you do to him?” you whispered, but she heard it and only smiled. It wasn’t one of those soft smiles; it was something similar to Five’s smile when he was irked. It was crooked, fake.
“I’m only showing him what he wants, kid.”
“Dolores?” Five whispered. You could feel your heart shatter.
The mannequin; that mannequin that sat with the both of you through the darkest nights of the apocalypse. She was there through everything; he always seemed to choose her over you. Even after you two were together. Dolores this; Dolores that; “Dolores would look good in this, wouldn’t she?”; “Dolores, you’re perfect”; “Dolores, I love you”.
You thought it was over. You thought he was over the stupid mannequin; you thought he loved you, only you. You thought that you two were meant for one another, the stupid soulmate shit everyone preached. But, you could see now, you clung on too tightly to the dreams a little girl would have.
You could see him break out into a smile, a genuine one. “Dolores.”
And then came the italian.
“Really? Italian? Holy shit. Do you think I could get out of this without fighting you?” you asked Jayme. She raised an eyebrow at you before quickly turning to Five. “I’m way to tired for-”
He began to make out with thin air.
Well, fuck.
“Okay, I’m just going to go,” you said, holding back the tears that threatened to spill.
You only just turned your back when you heard Five tumble down the stairs.

“Just gonna sit. I’m just gonna sit for a minute,” Luther groaned.
Your bones were cracking. You could practically collapse right there, plopping down on the top of the bench, lying there, mimicking Klaus on the table next to yours.
“Oh, I’m cracking,” Klaus said, a grit to his voice. You could second that.
“You all good, Klaus?”
“Fine, (Y/N/N), you?”
“Could be better.”
Five climbed on top of the table, sitting on the edge and placing your head gently in his lap. He began to run his fingers through your hair, his rhythm was constant. His love wasn’t. He grazed a cut and you hissed.
“That’s one hell of a cut, Sweetheart,” he mused quietly. You used that as an excuse to get out of his lap.
“I’m fine.”
You could see him flinch- just barely, not enough to catch if you weren’t paying close attention- at the slight harshness in your tone.
Good.
~*~
“CHET! Mon frère! I’d like my usual suite, por favor!” Klaus announced excitedly to the man at the front desk. He was older, his wrinkles prominent, but his hair still maintaining a blondish color that grasped onto hints of youth.
“I’ve never seen you before,” Chet deadpanned.
“See? Told you. Discreet.”
“Great job, Klaus,” you giggled; in turn, he wrapped an arm around you and wrestled you into his side.
“Don’t sass me, kiddo. There is such thing as a time out corner, you know.”
The dog’s whimper interrupted the conversation very quickly.
“Please stop scaring my dog,” Chet said.
“We need some rooms, please.”
“Super.” Chet pulled out a sign with the words only a nightmare could hold. “And how will we be paying today?”
Well shit.
“Fine,” Luther said. “Empty your pockets. Come on; something.”
You dug around in your pockets, finding a dagger and an extinguished cigarette.
“(Y/N)! Come on, really?” Five scolded.
“As if you haven’t had a cigar before.”
“Condoms?” Luther asked.
“I think you can exchange those for cash,” Klaus replied, causing you to giggle.
“Come on, you two, put the knives away!”
Luther looked around. “Oh, all right,” he sighed, removing his watch. Klaus marveled at it as he handed it to Chet. Examining it, Chet grabbed three room keys.
“Well, let’s Brady Bunch this bitch.”
~*~
Only one room had one bed, so you and Five were assigned to that one.
“Let’s unpack. Settle in.”
“And what do we have to unpack?” you questioned, eyebrow cocked.
“Yes, Darling, isn’t that liberating?”
“Fair enough.”
“Alright then,” Five said. “Let’s fix you up.”
“What do you mean?” you asked.
You didn’t want him touching you anymore. You didn’t want him lying to you anymore.
“You know what I mean.”
“Fine. I’ll get Allison in here-”
“Why Allison?” he asked, eyebrows furling. You could see the hurt flash in his eyes. Your heart broke and soared at the same time.
“You know why, Five. I saw everything.”
“Everything? I don’t get it.” He approached you, reaching out. You pulled back. He took another step forward. This kept going until your back hit the wall. He quickly brought his arm up, trapping you there. “I don’t understand. Why can’t I take- what did you see?”
You laughed, but stared at his arm. He was serious.
His other hand made its way to your hairline, brushing it softly. “I don’t understand.”
You recoiled, causing him to flinch once more.
“Sweetheart, we’re done. It’s all over; no more apocalypse, no more nothing. This is it! We can be happy- just… tell me what happened. I’ll fix it. I swear I will. I can’t afford to lose you after everything. I’ll fix everything, I promise, just please tell me what-”
“I saw you making out with thin air.”
“After what Jayme did? I thought I told you to run-”
“I hung back to make sure there wasn’t any funny business.” His arm loosened and you made your exit, walking toward the door. He didn’t jump toward you. He didn’t do anything. He just looked. “Turns out, there was some funny business. You’re still hung up on Dolores.”
“No,” he whispered. “No, (Y/N), I swear to God, I-”
“I heard everything, Five. So, we’re hanging out here for the next few days and then I’m out. I’m sorry. I can’t do this anymore.”
“(Y/N), I love you. Not Dolores, you.”
“I have come second to her after years, Five. Years I have waited for you to come around, and when you finally did, I was stupid enough to believe it was true. I was foolish enough to believe you could actually love me, that someone would actually love me. But, of course, I should’ve known: you can’t get over something so perfect that quickly.”
“You are perfection,” he whispered, tears in his eyes. “You-”
“No, Five. You can’t- I know what I saw. I know what you want, and that’s not me. Now, if you excuse me, Allison will only be available for so long. I’m going to need this cut fixed.”
You walked out the door with tears blurring your vision.
