Sometimes I just think... maybe after death, Thorin is watching over Erebor from above. Keeping an eye on things.
Hang in there
A supportive message from Finrod for a dear friend of mine and whoever needs to hear it. Hang in there... Life is surreal. Don't let it get to you.
Don't think about little Elrond being sleepy but cold and waddling through the halls of Amon Ereb with a blanket around his shoulders dragging like a cape. Don't think about him letting himself into Maedhros' room without knocking because he no longer feels he needs to. Don't think about Maedhros silently watching Elrond climbing up onto the bed beside him where he's reading and curling up against Maedhros' side, immediately falling asleep. Don't think of Maedhros completely content with this and bringing his own blanket up around Elrond's shoulders and gently resting his arm around Elrond while he sleeps. Don't think about it 🥹

So though it is true that Narnia and Tolkien do have Christianity written into them, the main messages are not inherently religious. The ideas of good and friendship and fighting for what you believe in, whether religious or not, are for everyone, not just christians. I am an atheist and I still relate to the main themes in these works because even if I don’t believe in god I believe in other things such as love and loyalty, which are also themes in these books. So even if the authors were christian, the stories can still be relevant and relatable to all.
So stop gatekeeping. The stories do not belong to a specific religion and can be enjoyed and interpreted by all.
Non-Christians should not be allowed to touch Narnia or Tolkien/LOTR. Those were made for us and belong to us.
Why is lotr so good? I’ve yet to meet a book that has the same level of plot, writing and characters.
The elves always seem to blame man for evil and darkness. Always saying they’re weak and gullible. But it’s not the elves who continue to fight even after the walls breached, It’s not elves who charge into scores of orcs, who attack the black gate with no hope that they can win for the slight chance that it will help Frodo and Sam. I’m not saying the elves are not brave or did not help destroy the ring, they did. I’m just saying they have no right to call mortals weak.
The elves lost hope and most sailed to Valar, the humans lost hope and charged to war.
“No we cannot. But we will meet them in battle nonetheless.”
“There was never much hope… Only a fool's hope.”
Out of all of the great lines in lord of the rings, both the book and movies, this two have stuck with me the most. Why? Because the entire series is based on hope, never much, but enough. All the characters don’t have hope that they will win, they know it’s next to impossible, but they aren't going down without a fight, and nether should you. It shows that you don’t have to have total faith in yourself, you can be certain you are going to fail, but you still have to try, you have to hold on to what ever hope you have, even if it’s only a fool’s hope.
You certainly usually find something, if you look. But, it is not always quite the something you were after.”
