Some Klance untitled thing I wrote to accompany some art I never did but I wanted to post before S7, enjoy
Soft lights illuminate a wide a full ballroom as a pleasant but not quite human tune echoes. The music itself is not very loud, but just enough to resound through the multitude of voices present. Aliens of all shapes and backgrounds had come together for what seemed to be a Coalition event. Thereof multiple conversations happen at once, which normally would overcharge Keith, but this time it doesn’t. Strange to say, for normally being trapped in a room full of people dancing around, talking and being boisterous would have him crawling out of his skin in need for some space and quiet. It wasn’t that the paladin hated people or parties, he just got overwhelmed easily in this kind of settings, with all the sounds, movements and colours. Plus, it wasn’t his style to celebrate in big soirées with strange people and lots of dancing. Most likely than not he would rather not loose time in parties and banquets. He could be training, or spending time with his family, Voltron. But he wasn’t. Even if he’d rather spent this kind of activities near one of his friends, Keith was pacing alone. More surprisingly, he was pacing near the middle of the ballroom. Not in the sides, near the walls where he could fine a bit of relief and observe from afar, but near a sea of aliens dancing and cheering. He was really surprised he hadn’t felt the need to bolt yet. But no, Keith stood there with what seemed to be purpose, slowly inspecting his surroundings.
His hair was styled in a bun, keeping his unruly bangs out of his face, and his clothes were formal and way too fancy to seem confortable, but alien technology was something else so how could he be sure.
The song that was currently playing reached it’s end and another one started, this one more slow and calm. One of the aliens, who was dressed in a long lilac gown and stood in Keith’s line of vision, made to reach for another but tripped and almost fell, luckily for them their partner caught them. As they laughed and started dancing, Keith’s eyes lighten in what appeared to be recognition. Not even a second after a voice spoke to him behind his back:
“Hey”
He didn’t had to look to know whom this voice belonged to, he would recognised it anywhere, he had been waiting all night to hear it.
“Hi, Lance.”
The man in question seemed surprise to catch the soft smile spread in Keith’s face. But without commenting on it, or before saying anything else, he extended his open palm to the other man in front of him. Keith looked down as his hand as Lance began to speak.
“Care to dance?”
Keith took his hand without showing hesitation or surprise. Without wasting another second, the red paladin pulled him into the sea of dancers, as if to not let him change his mind. It took longer than that for their hands to find their place in each others bodies and their steps to synchronise, having gingerly started spinning with a sense of shyness that wasn’t completely awkward but didn’t lack hesitance. The sense left, however, once they found their rhythm, which lead to the brunette starting a conversation to fill the easy silence that had fallen between them.
“Nice to see you hanging around the crowd. Very unKeith thing to do, but I suppose that was the old Keith.”
“I’m still the same Keith, you know?”
“Yeah I kno-“
“I’m just smarter, WAY better at kicking ass and have the coolest pet ever.”
“Kaltenecker is better.”
“Yeah right.”
“She is.”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
“I could spend all night defending my girl’s honour, Kogane, don’t try me.” At that they both laughed.
“Guess we’ll have to dance all night long.”
“Guess we do.”
The silence fell between them again, along with the shyness that was recuperated after that exchange. Both their faces were tinted with a soft blush with didn’t fade away as they danced to the music. It took a while but finally Lance decided to break the silence again.
“Are you using the hearing things Hunk gave you?”
“Yeah! They are great for this celebrations.”
“What do they do? Hunk explained to me, but the technical info is different from real life testimony.”
“They tone the sounds a bit down so I don’t get overwhelm as easily as usual in this” he waved to the room and crowd around them “kind of environments.”
“So that’s why you were so jumpy and wanting to run away in the other parties, huh?” At that Keith chuckled.
“That’s part of it. The constant loom of danger and being attacked by spies and whatnot was huge chunk of it too.” Lance snickered and they almost collided with another couple dancing, were it not for Keith pulling Lance closer on the last second.”
“And how did you managed to deal with that?” The right hand asked while remaining closer the team leader.
“Well, this party and dancing around with you” his smile grew softer as he spoke “it was bound to happen”
A strong flash of light blurred everything before Keith’s eyes, once it was gone he blinked to find himself back in the cave he had made his home while being stuck on the whale’s back. His pet wolf was rubbing their head against his thigh as he was resting against the rock wall, them being the only ones there since his mother, Krolia, had gone for a walk.
The man let his hand rest against the wolf’s head and groaned. After so many months spent in here he was getting sick and tired of the fleeting visions that came once in a while. This time, though, what exasperated him was not being able to continue and see what happened next. Most of the visions were of the past and quite boring, most of the few that happened to come from the future were confusing; all of them altogether were disorienting. But this time, the vision had brought a glimpse of a future that wasn’t plague with fighting or conversations cut short. This time it was nice and he wanted to jump back into it so badly. A whine pulled him out of his reverie, Cosmo was demanding for attention and he could only chuckle at the adorable cosmic canine. So he proceded to pet the beast with both of his hands while his chest filled with hope for a better future. After all, what he just saw was bound to happen.

post canon klance again i hate them
keith collecting trinkets and souvenirs while he’s in space because he wants to bring them home for lance. so now lance just has an assortment of rocks, pressed/dried plants, welcome gifts from aliens, gems, and other stuff sitting in a small box on his nightstand.
lance thinks that keith does this to show him the cool stuff he sees in space, which is true, but keith is also trying to make up for the fact that he’s not on earth long enough to get lance normal gifts that people give their boyfriends
lance always cooks a big breakfast for keith when he stays over. keith assumed that cooking breakfast is part of lance’s routine or he’s just being a good host. but it’s because lance is scared keith won’t be there when he wakes up in the morning, so his logic is to make breakfast as an incentive for keith to stay and not leave in the middle of the night (which keith has yet to do, but still)

i think of it as keith and lance’s envy towards each other. they both feel overshadowed by the other without knowing how much they are admired by them

holding his heart is letting him feel all of his love and emotions, even if it gets crushed. i think this is how keith and lance’s relationship works. lance is literally one of the only people that makes keith feel seen, being able to understand his emotions with barely any words (i think about the scene where everyone just looks over at lance and waits for him to go comfort keith. and lance does so, not even knowing that everyone was expecting him to do it)

i think about this as post canon klance. they have left such a big impact on each other’s lives, and then they just go their separate ways??? like no keith is definitely still thinking about lance who’s down on earth. he doesn’t want to forget him and probably never will

i think keith would still have some sort of lingering fear that he isn’t enough for lance, despite not actually dating him. so lance “leaving” him for allura in season 8. this can also play on lance’s insecurities, especially when in comparison to keith

OKAY THIS ONE IS DUMB and like kinda generic but it makes me think of how they were doomed by the writers LMAO

Flawless Execution

i think about this a lot with black paladin keith + red paladin lance. they are both learning to step up, wanting to prove themselves worthy of their positions.

this describes someone who’s love is so intense that it’s overwhelming. this is very klance to me because of how deeply connected they are to each other without even knowing it. keith being the person who gives lance the reassurance he needs, and lance being the person who is able to either push keith to do something or pull him back to rationalize his thoughts. THEY CANT LOVE LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE because they are stupid and i hate them

shows how different they are. they’re complete opposites but still somehow complete each other
First Punch

this one is more about lance and his insecurities of being a paladin. although he desperately wanted to use the black lion, (s3 in the ep where they were seeing who the black lion would respond to, lance really hoped it would be him, even sitting in the lion longer than the other paladins did, just hoping it would work) he supported keith and pushed him into stepping into his new role.
the rest of the song is a lot more aggressive and i don’t think it fits keith and lance’s feelings towards each other. like even early season klance doesn’t have the same hatred as in the song but the bridge will always be lance to me
Dive In

PEAK ROMANCE‼️ i don’t have a lot of reason for this one but being tattoo ink in someone’s skin is like being with someone forever. it makes me think of the permanent scarring there were left with by the end of the series (keith’s face scar after returning to voltron and lance’s altean marks in the finale)

this is not really based on any canon content. keith and lance are so deeply intertwined with each other without even knowing it. platonic or romantic, they care about each other. and i have very much think this insane devotion in this song feels like klance core

PEAK ROMANCE‼️‼️ this song just generally makes me think of ships i like because this song is full of love and devotion i love it
Even When I’m Not With You

this always makes me think of when keith and lance get separated. especially when keith leaves voltron, he’s still with lance (especially bc i like to think about keith leaving lance with his red lion, giving lance a little piece of him). this can so be post-canon klance because i know they are still thinking about each other even though they’re off doing their own things

even despite any fighting, bickering, and disputes, keith and lance always care about each other, wanting them to be able to work together as a team. especially with black paladin keith!!! lance is always trying to make things work because he’s passionate about voltron’s success (and by further extension, wanting keith to be a good leader)

vic fuentes “think i’ve finally won” is in reference to being able to settle down with his wife. and so like i think about this as klance. by the end of the series, they both got their ending (i don’t like lance’s ending i fear) but they actually are “winning” when they are together

season 7 was about saving the earth and winning the war against the galra, they didn’t have time to talk about past relationships
introducing adam wouldn’t seem that important to someone who doesn’t keep up with the social media, but it’s paving the way for season 8
allurance and axca x keith are so forced and sudden that i’m almost certain the forced nature of it is intentional, they’re setting something up for season 8
bex is lgbt, the crew is full of allies, they wouldn’t let queerbaiting happen
season 7 happened so we could have some peace and time for personal subjects to be brought up in season 8 (i.e. romance, lance’s bi arc, shiro mourning adam, etc)
season 8 is still going to happen, don’t give up hope yet, the story isn’t finished
they knew people would leave/want to leave the fandom after season 7, but that just goes to show that they have something that would make us really happy in season 8 because they’re smart and know what the fans want
adam’s death was so much of a small deal that i know they weren’t finished talking about adam, they’ll address him in season 8
don’t give up. there’s still hope, and the story isn’t over yet. season 8 is going to address all of our concerns, answer all of our questions, and snatch all of our weaves.
