Don’t Let Go (Of Me)

@shidgevalentinesexchange  for @adeerli !

Nice to meet you! This was really challenging for me to write, but I hope you enjoy all the work I’ve put into this and help spread some of that quality Shidge all around.

As you might be able to tell, this fic was heavily inspired by James Arthur’s song ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’

I will also cross-post this on my AO3, so make sure to check it out over there! <3

“I met you in the dark, you lit me up”

They met on orientation day.

Not her orientation day, mind you, but her brother’s. And freshly graduated Garrison Officer Takashi Shirogane couldn’t help but notice them.

He introduced himself to Matt first.

Immediately taking a liking to the bright young man with the mischievous eyes. He answered his questions and helped quell some of his parents’ worries.

Then he saw her.

“You made me feel as though I was enough”

A quiet, small little thing with long hair and a brand-new dress. Looking half in envy and half in worry at the state-of-the-art facilities all around them. Then she caught his eyes looking her way.

Her’s were gold.

Bright and burning and not unlike a punch to the gut. Somehow, Shiro managed to send a smile her way before he was whisked away by their father, a Commander Shiro had nothing but respect for.

But the look of her and those intense eyes never left him.

===

He was here.

Of course Katie knew him, Matt never shut up about him in his letters. The Garrison golden boy that everyone seemed half in love with, Takashi Shirogane. And Katie definitely couldn’t understand the allure. Absolutely. No way. Not at all. Pffft!

That’s ridiculous!

“We danced the night away…”

Who was she kidding? Katie has faced a lot of problems in her 14 years of life, but this was, by far, the worst one. Katherine Annalise Holt had a crush.

And she had it bad.

“We drank too much.”

So bad that the young girl couldn’t help but wring the hem of her dress in her hands. The Holt family had traveled back to the Garrison after an entire year to celebrate Matt graduating from Cadet to Cadet Corporal at the youngest age of 17. Pride warming away every one of Katie’s frazzled nerves at the sight of her brother standing at attention in a brand new uniform.

Iverson continuing to drone on.

“…as acting Drill Sergeant of this year’s class I have had, not only the honor of watching these young men and women mature and grow, but to collaborate with one of the Garrison’s brightest alumni, Takashi Shirogone.” Iverson’s constantly shrill voice paused to allow the room to fill with applause.

For him.

Katie’s stomach flip-flopped as she clapped along with the crowd. Everyone’s eyes on Takashi. Who looked illegally handsome in his Officer’s uniform. Fit to his figure, it showed off a great deal of his excellent build.

Much to Katie’s destress.

“A few words Shirogone?” Iverson called out, Shiro clearly caught off-guard but accepting the offer graciously nonetheless. Flashing a smile so bright, Katie’s brain had to reboot for a solid minute. He turned toward the graduating cadets, Matt being one of the smallest among them. Dark grey eyes alit with warmth and pride.

“As my first year teaching, I must say that it’s been an eventful one.” Laughter titered amongst her brother’s class, in inside jokes Katie longed to know. The young girl wishing, not for the first time, that the age requirements for apply to the Garrison weren’t so high.

“But I wouldn’t have it any other way.” At this, he looked back to the crowd. That warm gaze sweeping over everyone like dawn’s first rays of sunlight. Katie barely fought back a blush as Shiro’s eyes seemed to settle in her direction. But, to her surprise, Shiro suddenly seemed so nervous.

Those warm eyes lowering.

“I-um…I’m really humbled by this experience. Teaching the next generation like this…has been amazing a-and a tremendous honor. So, thank you all for sticking with me for so long.” There was something incredibly endearing about the way Shiro seemed so bashful in that moment. Something so sweet that Katie could help the bright, brilliant smile gracing her young features.

“I held your hair back when you were throwing up.”

Then his eyes were on her.

Not on the crowd. Not on her brother’s class. But on her. Katie knew it, she felt it. That soft gaze nearly gave her a heart attack, sure, but she did her best to smile encouragingly at him.

And, to Katie’s surprise, it seemed to work.

“Then you smiled over your shoulder…”

“I look forward to seeing all the boundaries you all willbreak. And I know that each and every one of you are capable of incredible greatness. But I must admit…” Her heart leapt to her throat. But what? What did he-Shiro’s gaze on her warmed, a bright smile tugging at his lips as he looked at her.

“And for a minute…”

“I eagerly await the conquests of the newest generation of graduates, I…have a feeling they’re going to do so some pretty amazing things. Thank you.” Katie couldn’t even hear the applause, she was still glued to her seat. Heart slamming against her windpipe. The image of Shiro’s encouraging half-smile and soft eyes imprinting onto her mind. Cementing itself amongst all the other theories and equations that made way more sense to her than her own feelings for Shiro.

“I was stone-cold sober.”

===

Don’t think of her.

Don’t picture her. Don’t try to remember her voice. Don’t try to remember how her eyes shone. Don’t bring her visage to place like this. Don’t say her name.

Don’t you dare bring her memory here.

“I pulled you closer to my chest.”

Who knows how long Shiro had been in this place. Purple fluorescent lights and alien, animal faces blurred together in his mind. Or in what little cognitive function he had left. Everything seemed to be an endless cycle of blood and bone and screaming.

Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill. Lunge. Cut. Fight. Kill.

Katie.

“And you asked me to stay over…”

God, but then there were moments, too many for Shiro to count, where he’d think back to all the people he’s failed. Matt, who was God knows where. Commander Holt, who Shiro hoped and prayed was still alive, despite all the horror of their situation. And…no, he wouldn’t do that. He couldn’t do that. Shiro can’t think of-

Katie.

“I said, ‘I already told ya-‘ ”

Out of everyone, Shiro had failed her the most. He remembered how proud she looked on launch day. How those golden eyes turned molten with joy as she and her mother sent the three of them off. How she jokingly made him promise to keep her family safe.

So lovely he couldn’t breathe.

He still couldn’t breathe as he, guiltily remembered memories of the brilliant younger Holt in a place like this. A place so messed up and violent that it should never tarnish her memory, no matter how secondhand it was.

But Shiro didn’t have long to think.

Two more purplish aliens cornered him in his cell. Shiro couldn’t even muster the spirit to fight them. The former pilot roughly shoved into the wall and muzzled. Bound in strange, glowing chains until it was time to release him.

Out of the fire and into the frying pan in the worst way.

But even as Shiro was pushed and shoved towards the slaughter fest that was the Arena.

His thoughts were of her.

“ ‘I think that you should get some rest…’ ”

===

She saw him again.

Part of her knew she would, eventually. But this time the sight of him did nothing to her. Gone we’re the blushing cheeks and fluttering heart. She wasn’t that crushing young girl anymore.

She wasn’t Katie anymore either.

Nothing like love twisted her heart at the sight of him, seemingly deranged and pleading on that hospital cot. Katie, now Pidge, only felt one thing as she looked at him. Felt something ugly and hideous coil in her stomach.

How dare he?

How dare he be here instead of Matt and her father? How dare he be the only one who came back? How dare…how dare he just show up?

Crashing back, quite literally, into her life.

“I knew I loved you then.”

She had spent so long killing whatever she had felt for him. Exhausting herself with the search to find her family to avoid thinking about him. But it never worked.

Not really.

And now here he was, screaming, pleading for anyone to stop and listen to him. That they were all going to die. That there were Galra just outside-

Pidge couldn’t take it.

She had had enough. Enough with the lies. Enough with the hurt. Enough with the constant dull ache in her chest. She had to end this the only way she knew how.

She had to save him.

“But you’d never know…”

===

She can’t leave, was his first thought.

But Shiro looked at her face, at those burning gold eyes and that furious glare, and couldn’t find it within himself to stop her.

He failed her.

“'Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go.”

Shiro a had failed to protect her family, of course she wanted to leave them and find them herself. Of course she’d want nothing more to do with him. Shiro knew all that.

But it still hurt.

“I know I needed you…”

It still hurt seeing how little she seemed to care about him. How much she wanted to get away from him. It cut him worse than the Galra ever had.

But he’d let her go.

“But I never showed.”

It’d kill him, but he owed her so much. So, for the rest of the night, Shiro kept outside. So no one could see how much he was hurting. He liked her.

He really liked her.

Which was horrible because she was only 15. Which was awful because he had left Matt and her father in the hands of the Galra. Which was just wrong because-

“But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old…”

“Shiro? Can we talk?” Trying to tell himself that his heart didn’t skip a beat at her voice would’ve just added insult to his many injuries. Shiro took a few moments to school his expression before turning to her.

And how much she’d changed.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

The last time he saw her everything was different. Everything was simpler. Her cheeks were flushed with cold, but Katie’s smile was so electric that she seemed completely immune to it. She was so small then, so delicate.

Not anymore.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

Seemingly everything about Katie had hardened, sharped to a deadly point. She was force to be reckoned with. A young girl becoming a woman in war. And Shiro couldn’t help but morn the fact. Especially like this, when she was standing just to his left in her armor. All its sharp angles and thick plating doing nothing to help Shiro’s guilt.

Doing nothing to stop his heart breaking.

===

“I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed.”

He’d get nightmares sometimes.

After the first couple instances and the deep, dark bags under his eyes, Pidge had decided enough was enough. She, despite her best efforts, had begun feeling something for the Black Paladin again. Something gentle and flickering in her chest that warmed her when this war chilled her.

Thus began their unique sleeping arrangement.

“I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head…”

They’d head for his room at about the Earth equivalent of 10 o’clock, and, while Shiro would usually knock right out, Pidge would just slip in beside him and continue working until she was either done with her project or passed out from exhaustion.

But it was usually the latter.

“And I’ll take the kids to school…”

Still, for reasons Pidge refused to think about, Shiro seemed to sleep better with her there. Even when she wasn’t under the blanket with him, Shiro would still rest surprisingly peacefully. And for that, Pidge was immensely thankful.

Even if mornings were a little awkward.

“Wave them goodbye.”

Shiro, for the most part, would wake up before her. But the 6-foot-something guy had no chance of leaving the small, twin sized bed without disturbing her awake in some way. Neither would really talk about it, seeing it was a habit the two just sort of…picked up.

Shiro would leave.

Leave Pidge alone in a suddenly too-big bed in a room that smelled just like him. The young girl having to tell herself over and over that this was bigger than her resurfacing feelings for Shiro. This was for his sake and sanity.

She couldn’t take advantage of that.

So every morning Pidge had to stumble back to her own room, alone. Then go to breakfast and act like the whole arrangement never even existed. Like Pidge never knew how much younger Shiro looked when he slept. Or that sometimes his hand would fall to her waist and sleep would suddenly be the furthest thing from her mind. Yeah.

It’s sucked.

“And I’ll thank my lucky stars for that night…”

But there were bigger things than the aching hurt in her chest to deal with, so Pidge just fought it down and threw herself into everything she did even more. Hoping that, one day, things could be normal again.

That she could be honest with Shiro.

===

Years passed.

Everyone grew harder, tougher. The war still raged on, but now they were fighting fire with fire. The Coalition was growing everyday and people were shedding their fear of the Empire like a second skin. Everything was looking up.

But Shiro didn’t feel that way.

“When you looked over your shoulder-“

They found Matt. And for the first time, in a long, long time, he saw Pidge truly and purely happy. Pidge, now 17, had finally gotten a piece of her family back. Not as battle scarred or traumatized as him, Matt fit in right away with their crew.

Falling back in place with Shiro.

The two rekindling their friendship and trust. But one thing, one very important thing was different now.

Katie.

Pidge.

Before the younger Holt had been a witty, brilliant young girl who Shiro liked to joke with. Now? Now things were different.

Now she was different.

“For a minute, I forget that I’m older.”

She was still as burning and brilliant as those gold eyes, but there was so much more to her now. She was a woman on the war front. Battle-scarred and formidable in every sense. Pidge was someone he’d trust his life with. The only problem?

He wanted her to have his heart to.

“I wanna dance with you right now…”

Pidge had indeed grown lovelier over the years and to say that Shiro had never imagined the two as couple would be false in every sense. As beautiful as she was smart, those golden eyes seemed to spell ruin for suitors who weren’t careful.

And Shiro was one of them.

“Oh! And you look as beautiful as ever!”

Matt had found out embarrassingly easily. But the older Holt never ridiculed Shiro. No. Matt did something much worse.

He encouraged it.

“And I swear that everyday you’ll get better.”

Saying that the two were perfect for each other and that she definitely thought of him the same way. Which, naturally, Shiro knew better to believe.

But a part of him hoped.

Hoped that Matt was right every time her smile seemed to linger on him. Everytime he’d find himself lulled to rest by her focused face illuminated by her computer within his room. Everytime she’d pull him back from the nightmares and visions and into her brilliance. A dear, dangerous part of him hoped for such things.

And maybe, one day, he’d tell her all that.

“You make me feel this way somehow…”

But war was never kind to such sentiments. Such sentiments already begged to be proven wrong.

And they were.

===

Oh God.

Oh God. Oh God. Oh God. This couldn’t be happening. No. No! This wasn’t real! This is just a dream.

Just a nightmare.

“I’m so in love with you…”

“SHIRO!” Her throat hurt, but Pidge couldn’t care. All she cared about was getting down this damn hill and rush to his side. What was he even thinking?

Taking that bullet for her.

Oh God, there was blood everywhere. A usually orthodox sight made horrifically new when she saw who caused it.

Shiro.

Was he even breathing? Oh God please be breathing. Don’t stop breathing. Don’t leave me again. Don’t go until I-

“K-Katie?”

“And I hope you know.”

“I’m here, I’m right here Shiro. Stay with me. Stay with me please.” When did she start sobbing? When had her tears began to choke her?

She grabbed his hand.

Slick with blood, the metal was cooling in her hands. Hunk quickly rushed in, med kit in tow while Pidge tried to keep Shiro awake.

Alive.

“Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in…”

“Shiro! Shiro, look at me! Eyes on me, c’mon. Please!” Dark, blood soaked lashes fluttered up to her. Shiro’s bloodied head in her lap as Hunk tried to stanch the massive amount of blood leaving his body. But his eyes, warm and gray and heartbreaking, still cling to her so dearly.

So preciously.

“Gold…” He murmured weakly as she gazed up at her. Pidge’s tears falling onto his soiled face. Creating clear tracts in the dirt and gore. But, despite all that, the sight of such a soft look on Shiro face made Pidge smile.

And tears fall harder.

“We’ve come so far my dear…”

“Stay with me ok big guy? Well get you patched up s-”

Shiro coughed.

Blood splattering against his lips as the man sounded as if he was trying to retch out his lungs. Pidge cupped his face, trying to bring him back to her. Trying her best to ignore the warmth of his blood against her palms.

“Shiro? Shiro please stay with me…” She hated the whine in her voice, but the tears just wouldn’t stop. The pain in her chest damn near killing her. No…No, I couldn’t end like this.

Not like this.

“Look how we’ve grown.”

Not after everything they’ve been through. Not after how long she’s loved him. He can’t die. She wouldn’t let him.

She couldn’t let him.

“And I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old.”

“Katie…Katie I-” Pidge saw it then. Saw it in the way he looked at her, halfway dead and broken beyond measure, but still gazing up at her like he’d do it all again for her. She saw it in those gray eyes and how they shone with unsaid words and unshed tears. She saw it in the way his bloody, bruised hands held onto her arms so reverently. Pidge saw it then.

And cursed herself for not seeing it sooner.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

“I know…I know…” She soothed, gazing back at him. Pidge’s face a near mirror of his own. Vision blurring with tears as she leaned down.

And kissed him.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

===

Kissing her was all Shiro wanted to do.

Pidge made a soft noise in the back of her throat as she pulled him closer and out of his thoughts. The air between them, in his room suddenly too hot. Too stifling unless every inch of her was pressed against every inch of him.

“I wanna live with you…”

Shiro’s mechanical hand slid under her shirt. Reveling in the smooth curve of her hips and waist. Against his throat, Pidge sighed contently and sent Shiro’s heart fluttering.

He kissed her again.

“Even when we’re ghosts.”

Kissing Pidge was like nothing he’d ever imagine it to be. Kissing Pidge was all bursting citrus and warmth and freckles against his hands. Kissing Pidge was the best thing in the world, and Shiro didn’t know if he could ever give it up.

Her arms wrapped around his neck.

Pulling him even closer, if that was possible, as Shiro rubbed his hand along the gentle curve of her bare back. He parted away from her, if only slightly. Just to look at her.

And those gold eyes.

Made a little darker from their kissing, but shining in the lowlight of his room nonetheless. Pidge was older now, her features more prominent, and fondness sang so loudly in Shiro’s heart, he couldn’t help but feel weak.

“'Cause you were always there for me…”

“I love you.” He breathed, the declaration coming out half scared and half infatuated. Watching the spark in Pidge’s eyes light up and a bright smile stretch along her face.

“When I needed you most.”

Her palm on either side of his head.

Seeming to memorize all his features with her calloused, thin fingers. Trailing along his jaw and over his temple. Across his eyebrows.

Fluttering over his scars.

“I love you to.”

===

“I’m gonna love you till my lungs give out.”

The war was over.

The greater evil had been defeated. The universe could finally breathe a breath of freedom after so long a time spent suffering.

Especially for the Paladins.

“I promise till death we part…”

Hunk chose to stay with Shay and help her fellow Balmerans discover what it meant to be free. Though, judging by their entwined hands as they waved the Castle off, that wasn’t exactly the only reason.

Allura and Matt had a lot of work ahead of them.

The rebel fighter and the Princess had grown close over the course of the war. Matt every bit a gushing, loving boyfriend that never failed to make Allura laugh.  Coran watching the two carefully all the while. Allura’s diplomacy plus Matt’s strategy proving to be an incredible combination for the Coalition.

And, naturally, Lance and Keith went back to Earth.

“Like in our vows.”

Lance, apparently, having promised the Red Paladin an introduction to the entirety of Lance’s family. The sight of their entwined hands and bright red cheeks never failing to bring a smile to Pidge’s face.

Which left only two.

“So I wrote this song for you…”

What was next for her? For Shiro? Well, with the Empire out of the way, someone need to take charge of the noncombatant Galra and establish the Blades of Marmora as pillars of stability. And who better to do it?

Than the Champion himself.

“Now everybody knows!”

He was hesitant about it. She could see it in his eyes and the way his human hand wrapped around his metal one. Pidge knew that the thought of overseeing the entire race of creatures that harmed him would be painful.

But that’s why she was there.

“ ‘Cuase now its just you and me…”

Whatever the challenge, whatever the curse. Pidge would help him bear it. So, come the day Kolivan and the Blade came to take them away to rebuild their enemies, they just held each other.

Steadied each other.

“Till we’re grey and old.”

Shiro looked to her then, concern pinching the worn planes of his face in such a way that he seemed to ask her, “are you sure?”, all over again. He looked older now. Older in ways Pidge couldn’t even describe. But he was hers.

And she was his.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

So while she knew this new adventure would test them, as long as they had each other, Pidge knew that they’d be fine. They’ve gone through too much to just back down now. Squeezing his hand in hers, Pidge took the first step toward leading a new legion of Galra. With her hand in his, Shiro walked right beside her.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

Side by side.

Toward a new future, together.

“Just say you won’t let go…”

“Just say you won’t let go…”

*cracks knuckles*

It’s like 2:00 in the morning but I don’t care.

Details are as follows:

- Pidge and her family lived in a poor, neglected section of the Empire.

- However, as is the case in any and all AUs, they were singled out for their intelligence.

- And though her and her family have had a neutral to anti-Empire stance, they were force to work for Zarkon none the less. (With Sam and Matt getting separated from Pidge and Colleen maybe used as leverage???)

- Shiro, an unwillingly loyal general to Zarkon is assigned with keeping them in line. But there’s one problem.

- The small one is cute.

- Like REALLY cute.

- Like he’d REALLY like to court her to be his mate cute

- Eventually Pidge opens his eyes to the cruelties of the Empire and convinces him to help her find her family. Promising a future with them once they escape. (A future with her he hopes???)

- The only problem?

- Lotor’s taken an interest in Pidge as well.

FEEL FREE TO CONTINUE THIS MY DUDES

*cracks Knuckles*

Whoops its nearly midnight and all I can think about is a Shidge Galra AU

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 6 - Human
Lotidge Ship Week: Day 6 - Human

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 6 - Human

===

Things got better for them.

Sure, Allura's eyebrow would twitch at the sight of their entwined hands and Matt took it upon himself to give Lotor the whole "Big Brother" talk.

And Shiro wouldn't look at the pair of them altogether.

But they were happy. Pidge was glad to have someone who understood her as well as Lotor by her side. Lotor was elated to have finally found an equal in the Green Paladin.

Together, they made quite the fearsome pair.

All biting intelligence and stone-cold fury, the Empire was bound to get nervous. But no one, not any one of them, would've expected the Galran Empire's next move.

They attacked Earth.

A seriously pissed-off Voltron shut the whole operation down, of course. But the terror of what could've been still froze the marrow in their bones. To make matters worse, Earth had taken notice of the little skirmish on the edge of their solar system.

Discovered them.

Allura deciding that the best course of action would be to go down to the surface and try to explain the danger Earth was truly in.

Lance nearly cried with happiness.

Matt and Pidge were overjoyed at the prospect of seeing their mother again. Of coming home. But, there was one problem.

Lotor.

Not that he opposed the decision or anything. The Galran Prince was beyond eager to explore the world and woman that created his beloved little Paladin. No, the problem Lotor presented was very simple in nature.

He was purple.

With silver hair and Altean ears. It wasn’t as though Pidge disliked any of that, rather, she was worried that the government might be. And suddenly, all those nights binge-watching conspiracy theories seemed like a bad idea.

Curse the undeniable proof that Mothman existed!

“I don’t think you should come.” Pidge announced as the couple got ready for bed. The pair stayed up later than everyone else most days, usually due to each other’s company, so it only made sense for them rest at each other’s side as well.

No one else knew.

Which was just fine with the young couple. Everyone knew how late they could work, and therefore no eyebrows were raised when they would walk into the dining room with sleep still clinging to their eyes. Thinking that it was their projects beginning to catch up to them, when really they had just wanted to stay in the same bed for a little while longer. Stay in each other’s arms a moment longer.

Just for a moment.

“Why not? It’s only proper that I meet your mother, considering…” Lotor sent a not so discreet glance towards their shared bed. Littered with their projects and blueprints. Lotor’s side only slightly neater than Pidge’s. The young woman only rolled her eyes, opening her mouth to retort.

When Lotor took his shirt off.

Now…you’d think with the sheer number of times he’s slept in the same bed as her, Pidge would be used to such a sight. But no.

That wasn’t the case.

Good lord, and the look her gave her after stripping! Pidge had half a mind to throw her pillow at him just for that teasing little look. Her face a blushing red mess.

“WHA-We haven’t done anything and you know it!” Came her flustered screech. Trying to take her eyes off of Lotor. Away from his defined, toned stomach. Away from the smooth way his muscles moved underneath his skin. Away from the visible V-line of his hips peaking out from his grey sweatpants.

Obviously she succeeded.

“You don’t look like you’re too happy about that though~”

“L-Look! I’m just worried that humans will see you and-“ Pidge trailed off, Lotor having joined her on their bed. Toned, purple arms on either side of her. The Green Paladin’s heart thundering in her chest at the sight of Lotor’s face watching her underneath him. Sliver hair slipping off his back and onto her shoulders. Leaving ghosting imprints along her collarbones. That soft, soft look back on his face.

Then he changed.

Shifted his features in the same way Allura did. Lotor’s purple skin growing a warmer mocha color. His bright hair running the darkest shade of black Pidge had ever seen. Fangs retreating to a normal size. Ears loosing their sharp points. Eyes loosing their yellow nightlightish hue, but remained that same brilliant blue color.

Pidge nearly choked.

Lotor smiled. And though he may look human, that wolfish smile was still the same. Still sent shivers down her spine. And the smug Prince above her knew it. Lotor leaning down to kiss her with violet-turned-pink lips just like he always did. Pidge’s hands tangling themselves into his ink-black hair. His weight solidly pressing against her.

He laughed.

“See something you like Darling?”

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 5 - Obsession

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 5 - Obsession

===

He’s drunk, was Pidge’s first thought.

But no, Lotor looked perfectly focused as he ushered her out of the gala and into an isolated balcony. She didn’t say anything at first, the look on his face was telling enough. But curiosity and concern eventually won out in the end.

“Lotor! What are you-“

“What are we Pidge?” The question jarred her. Shocked her to a stop as they stood at the balcony’s entrance. Pale yellow moonlight shining through the open space. Turning Lotor’s silver hair a tawny gold and he stared at her.

Only an arm’s reach away.

She didn’t know how to answer. She, Katherine ‘Pidge’ Holt, was at a loss for words for once. Gazing up into Lotor’s nightlight eyes. Trying to put her feelings into words.

Trying to explain how she felt.

Make no mistake, the Galran Prince could drive her crazy sometimes, but in the short time Pidge has known him…he…he had endeared himself to her.

Crazy as it sounds.

But Pidge found his silent, thinking nature to be a great comfort. He never pushed and shoved his way into knowing more about her. Content with her secrets. He respected her opinion, looking at her like she was exactly his equal.

Exactly the person he wanted by his side.

How could Pidge ever respond to something like that? How could she ever find the words to describe the way her heart raced when she looked into his eyes as he thanked her? Or when he would smile wolfishly whenever he was about to tease her? Or how his touch, cold-blooded skin and all, sent shivers up and down her spine like signal waves? How could she describe that?

How could she tell him that?

“Or am I the fool here? Am I the only one who cares what we have between u-”

“I care!” Pidge cried, casting her eyes down. She felt as if the ground was crumbling underneath her feat. Of course she wanted to have something more with Lotor, but what they were doing…were they going too fast? Was what they were doing really-

Lotor kissed her.

A hard, passionate kiss that made Pidge’s head spin. Throwing every thought that didn’t pertain to the Galran Prince’s lips on her’s out of her head. Both too far gone in a fascination with the other to think or act rationally. Breaking for air only when it was absolutely necessary.

Lotor looked at her.

All tangled up in his arms. Warm, lively body around his own. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Had you asked the Galran Prince a month ago what he wanted most in life, he would’ve answered that his father’s throne was his only goal.

But not anymore.

Pidge looked at him.

Looked him with those big gold eyes of her’s. Always so sharp and attentive…now soft. Soft just for him. Ah, he was doomed.

Doomed to be destroyed by her hands.

Pidge could only hold his face in her hands as Lotor looked like he wanted to laugh. Laugh in a crazy, broken sort of way as he looked down at her. Entrapped in his arms. He bent his head to whisper to her. Silver hair making a makeshift curtain for the two of them.
 Eyes soft.

"You'll be the death of me."

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 4 - Enchanting

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 4 - Enchanting

===

“Uh? Voltron to Lotor? Voltron to-“

“I heard you the first time Lance.” Lotor grumbled as he took another swing of Nunvil. Stupid Voltron. Stupid Alteans. Stupid alliances with their stupid formal-

“Ok, ok. Just checking Mr. Grumpy Galra. Jeez, you’ve been glaring into space for half a Varga now man.” Well…the Red (or was it Blue now? Blast it, its all too confusing at the moment) Paladin wasn’t entirely wrong. Lotor was, indeed, very grumpy.

But he hadn’t been glaring at nothing.

“Says the one sulking with over Keith.”

“Hey! I’m not sulking!”

“Sure, and I’m not trying to get drunk Lance.”

More specifically, he had been glaring at the little woman that had taken up far too much of his thoughts as of late.  A point further proven by the three empty Nunvil glasses next to him. Ah.

The Green Paladin.

The two had developed a sort of…relationship as of late. Touches lingered. Lips occasionally touched. Eyes would soften.

But what were they?

What did she think of him? Just what was keeping them dancing around each other like this? Lotor didn’t know and he hated being left in the dark like this.

Hated being so enamored with her.

His eyes never left her, as she stood there in the distance. Clothed in a pale purple dress that made his blood boil with every sort of blushing red feeling Lotor swore he’d never let himself feel. A sleeveless lilac two-piece with strips of black velvet holing the short shirt and long billowy skirt together. Slivers of warm, freckled skin shining through the gaps. Etherial and enchanting.

Talking with other men.

The sight had his fangs grinding against each other. Seeing her smile up at diplomats. Seeing their eyes linger on her skin. Lotor had half a mind to chew the Altean Princess out for introducing Pidge to these foreign diplomats. Ugh, he didn’t like this.

Not in the least.

He didn’t like the uncertainty. The secret tenderness between them. He wanted the ability to loop his arms around that slim waist without the fear of losing what little standing he had with her. The right to stand by her side without any chance that she might lash out at him.

Pathetic, he knows.

But what was a man to do? The Green Paladin had his heart wrapped around her little fingers. Maybe it started when those gold eyes first cut into him. Or when he saw those blasted tears streaking down her face. But either way, Lotor knew that whatever he felt for this small woman has long gone beyond a simple fascination.

He downed his drink.

“Lotor? Where are you going?” Lance was deftly ignored in favor of Lotor making his way towards the small woman who left him so helpless.

The room only spinning slightly.

Then, in the corner of his eyes, Lotor saw the Black Paladin make way towards Pidge as well. Every nerve in Lotor’s body screaming in protest at the sight.

Damned clone.

It wasn’t that hard to figure out. But Lotor couldn’t bear to tell the rest of Voltron for fear of being booted out. Their trust in that copy of their leader greater than their trust in him. Though complications really started arising when Lotor found that the clone’s eyes never strayed far too long on a certain Paladin.

Which Lotor couldn’t exactly fault the thing for.

Pidge was, at least by Galran standards, an ideal, tempting mate. Young and clever. Her size never impeding her battle prowess. Small and lithe like a knife.

Never failing to excite him.

Beautiful and deadly in such a breathtaking way Lotor want to snatch her up in his arms and snarl at every male that came too close. That being said, as soon as Pidge was within an arm’s reach, Lotor pounced.

Wrapping an arm around her waist.

“Join me for a stroll, won’t you?” He didn’t look at her as he asked, choosing, instead, to glare triumphantly at that clone’s dumbfounded expression. The copy’s expression immediately souring.

Before whisking her away completely.

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 3 - Reconciliation

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 3 - Reconciliation

(yeah...these are all just going to go up within like 5 minutes of each other, sorry)

===

Somehow, someway they got away.

But somewhere in between covering for the escaping slaves and getting the quiznack out of there…Lotor had gone silent. Pidge had kept him talking, awake, as they boarded and battled in the Green Lion. But now it was quiet.

Too quiet.

“Lotor! Lotor, answer me!” It took a mere flick of her wrist and a flutter of her fingers to set Green back on a course for the Castle.

Lotor sprawled out on the floor.

“Oh no. Oh no, no, no.” The words came out like knives in Pidge’s throat. Slashing the silence far too quickly. Gently as she could, she tuned Lotor face down. The wound coming into sight. The Galran Prince’s back a mess of blood.

A scream rising in Pidge’s throat.

Taking the meager, gauze-like cloth from the med kits within her Lion, Pidge pressed it against the shallow line of Lotor’s wound as hard as she could. Earning a hiss of pain from the Prince with his head in her lap.

“Lotor, can you hear me? Don’t you dare sleep on me!” Her voice sounded frantic, crazed. Even to her. But how could she not be? Oh God why?

Why did he do it?

Why did he do something so stupid? And for her no less! She…She had screamed at him. Thought he was some heartless monster. The things she thought about him…surely she was paying for them now.

Surely.

“…mmmft.” Was Lotor’s only response. Heart still strangling her throat, Pidge ripped open a pack of painkillers. Popping off the cap from one of the syringes with her mouth, she sunk it near Lotor’s wound.

Tears falling once more.

Pidge was positive his scream, his painful howl would never leave her mind. It would echo within the confides of her head. Tighten her throat. Make her heart clench. But that she could deal with. One way or another, she could shoulder those things.

What she couldn’t shoulder was the memory. The memory of that soft look he had given her ticks before everything went wrong. Why?

Why’d he do it?

- - -

She knew they had to talk.

To discuss what had happened. But everytime their gazes so much as met, Pidge just ran. Flight or fight at its finest. She knew she needed to apologize for endangering them and thank him for…

For saving her life.

But Pidge didn’t know how’d he react to something like that. Lotor had emerged from the healing pods into a less-reluctantly trusting group of people, and he seemed happy about that. Busy with all the newfound trust. Fitting, only a little awkwardly, into their crew. Seeing this,  Pidge knew it was now or never.

And she was hoping for never.

“Pidge.” Oh quiznack. She just jinxed herself, didn’t she? Turning around in one of the Castle’s hallways on her way to her lab, she met face to face with the Galran Prince himself.

Lotor.

He looked better at the very least, no blood anywhere. Her heart, despite herself, thundered in her chest. Ok. Ok, you can do this.

Just…apologize.

“Lotor I-“

“Pidge I-“

Their responses came at the same time. Their voices smacking together like clumsy vagabonds. But, at the very least, it eased Pidge’s frazzled nerves. Lotor pursing lips with something like embarrassment. Pidge getting the idea that maybe Lotor was as on edge as she was? Maybe? Hopefully?

Kind of?

“Ladies first.” Came Lotor’s voice after a shocked pause. He didn’t look upset. And Pidge decided to take that as reason to continue. Clenching her fists at her side.

Steeling herself.

“I…I think some apologies are in order here, a-and I just wanted to say th-“

“Pidge.” When? When had Lotor gotten so close? The Galran Prince was barely a breath away from her. Heck, she could even feel the coolness of his skin as he stared down at her. Body hovering a mere breath away.

That strange, soft look on his face.

But any words she might’ve said in surprise died in her throat as Lotor raised his hand. Long, purple fingers traced the line of her cheek. Only to tangle themselves into the short mess of amber curls on her head. Those focused, intense eyes staring at her like she was the only thing in the world.

Pidge’s heart nearly bursting.

No one had…had ever touched her like that. Especially not with that look. The Green Paladin felt a red flush rise to her face. He was close. Too close. Getting too close to how she felt abo-

His thumb brushed her lower lip.

Pushed down on it. Pidge could feel the sharp point of his finger. Her warm breath soft on his cold hand. Part of her screamed to run, but the other, more insistent, part of her wanted to stay.

To see what would happen.

God, she couldn’t get over that look on his face. All his sharp edges having softened into something almost…tender. But that was impossible! He couldn’t care about her like that. He…He…

He leaned down.

To her surprise, though Lotor’s skin was cool with his cold blood, his breath was warm. Warm on her mouth. Pidge nearly jolting at the feeling. Soft and fluttery and almost too much. Lotor smiled, still watching her with those focused eyes. His fangs glinting in the light.

“And what sort of apoligizes are you referring to?” Her heart shouldn’t be thundering like that. Nor should her face suddenly feel too hot for her to concentrate. Brain a jumbled mess of the sights and sounds and feelings Lotor seemed to cause her.

“Y-You saved me…t-the l-least I can do is thank you.” Pidge’s words were coming out just like she felt. Chaotically together and unfocused. Lotor raised a single eyebrow.

Somewhere between happy and ammused.

“And do you know why I did what did Pidge?” She wished he wouldn’t say her name like that. In such a way that it sent a wave of warmth over her skin. Especially when he moved his thumb across and off her mouth like that. Or when his other arm snaked its way around her waist. But, in all honesty, she did have an idea as to why the Galran Prince had acted so brashly.

An idea that made her weak in the knees and giddy with possibility.

“Shall I give you an explanation then?” His voice a purr. Low and velvety and warm. Long, white eyelashes fluttering down as he slotted their lips together. Pidge’s hands rushing to grip at the collar of his shirt.

Weak in the knees.

It wasn’t her first kiss per se, but it was definitely the best. With Lotor’s mouth soft and hypnotic against her own. Moving in ways that made her dizzy and, at the same never, never wanting him to stop. He made a sort of rumble in throat as he braced his fingers against her neck.

As if memorizing it.

Lotor almost kissed like he fought. Intense and purposeful. Tracing invisible symbols along her neck all the while and keeping that steady, grounded arm around her. But, as their tongues brushed and Pidge wrapped her arms around his neck, they couldn’t stay like this forever.

They needed air.

So they broke apart, Lotor having, somehow, maneuvered her so that her back was supported against the walls of the Castle. But still he loomed over her. Soft, silver hair tickling her fingers as the pair looked at each other through their lashes. Half-lidded and reeling from what they had just done.

And, though Pidge was still very much red in the face, a wily little smirk began tugging on her lips. Kiss-drunk and elated. Curling, playful lips that Lotor was all-to eager to get back to. The feeling only increasing with her teasing, snarky voice made breathless from a single kiss purring into his ear.

“Nope...Sorry to say, but still don’t understand what you mean Lotad.”

He bristled.

“WHA-“

“Mind explaining it again?” The little minx, the Galran Prince thought as she pulled him down once more. Lotor mere putty in her small, freckled hands. This little Thief of Hearts...

Kissing him senseless like this.

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 2 - Fight

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 2 - Fight

Sorry guys, but applications are due soon, so Lotidge Ship Week entries might be a little late and have some weird mistakes. :(

Curse you Princeton! Jk, please read my essays

===

“No.”

“You can’t tell me what to do Shiro.” Scowling further, the Green Paladin sent a defiant glare at the Head of Voltron. The latter only crossing his arms as he tried to stare her down.

“I said no Pidge.” There it was again, that blankness to his look that made Pidge’s heart twist uncomfortably. That subtle detachment to her that made the young woman want to sock Shiro across the jaw, take Matt and Green, and book it for the hills.

“And I said I’m going.” Shiro was just about to open his mouth to refute her again, when a third, previously ignored voice broke through their tension.

“I could go with her.” Speak of the Devil. Or, more accurately, of the Galran Prince-turned-unwitting ally.

Prince Lotor.

He stood, leaning against the wall within their little lounge. Looking half-bored and half-frustrated. Oh great, as if Pidge wasn’t at the end of her patience already, Lotor just had to butt in.

“Oh come now Champion, you know as well as I do she’ll be killed on her own.” Lotor’s voice was all but a purr as he, very pointedly, looked over Pidge’s head at Shiro. Glossing over her with those brilliant blue eyes.

The Black Paladin glaring right back.

“And who’s to say you’ll help her chances?”

“Well, unlike you Champion, I know these ships like the back of my hand. Not to mention the fact I’m just as much as a wanted criminal as you lot.” Pidge tried getting a word it, but the two just kept at it.

“That’s not worth Pidge’s life.” Ok, that’s it! Pidge wasn’t going to deal with this…weird display of testosterone. She didn’t have time for this! Not right now!

Not when she found a lead on her dad.

So that’s why Pidge jumped up, strode over to Lotor, guns blazing, and grabbed his hand. Forcibly dragging a Galran Prince who was, at the very least, two feet taller than her, up and away from the Black Paladin.

Missing the look of surprise on Lotor’s face.

Shiro, naturally, called after them. But all his half-baked pleas fell on deaf ears. Pidge’s body feeling far, far too hot. A frustrated flush rising to her face and the tips of her ears. So, hand and hand with the Galran Prince, she set a course for their destination.

A Galran transport ship.

Said to hold the usual cargo. Weapons, quintessence, and mechanical supplies. But there was a unique addition to this particular ship. It was said that it was transporting a small group of especially intelligent slaves for some purpose Pidge would rather not think about. Made complete by a boosted security. So yeah.

She might need Lotor’s help.

“Going without your brother? How rebellious~” Ugh, she could practically hear the smirk in his voice. But she didn’t want Matt out there, in danger.

Not after everything he’s been through.

“Sit down and shut up before I make you.” Was all Pidge had the patience to grit out as she and Green left the Castle of Lions.

Familiar sparks dancing up her arm as she allowed herself to sink into the Green Lion’s cockpit. Ok. Ok. Breathe, you can do this. Pidge told herself, trying to calm down before anger made her stupid and reckless. Just breathe.

Breathe.

"Where are we going?" Oh quiznak. Clenching her jaw, Pidge turned her annoyed gaze toward Lotor. The latter raising a single white eyebrow at her. Pidge thought it over as she blocked the commutation Shiro was trying to send her.

"To find my dad." Pidge echoed as she turned back around. Watching as Green streamlined past stars and moons she didn't have the time to revel in.

She could hear the surprise in his voice.

"Your father? He's with the Empire?"

"Unwillingly yes." Pidge didn't even try to keep the bitterness out of her voice. God, look at her. Going around space in a magical giant metal lion with the son of her enemy riding shotgun. Had Pidge not been living that reality, she would've laughed.

Lotor remained silent.

Which was perfectly fine with Pidge. Give her a quiet Galran Prince over a talkative one any day. Because, like this, Pidge could actually think.

About a lot of things.

What was she doing? Disobeying Shiro’s orders? Rushing into the fray? God, she was beginning to act like Keith. But what if her dad was there, on that ship?

What if he wasn’t?

“-aladin! Paladin, I believe were getting close!” It was Lotor’s voice that brought Pidge out of her thoughts. And, with a jolt, she realized he was right. The Galran ship was quickly coming closer and closer into view. Pidge flying into action.

Quickly activating Green’ cloaking ability.

“Your lion has cloaking?” Lotor’s voice was closer, Pidge realized. He was standing behind her, arms braced against her seat. Leaning down to her level. Where, in her peripheral vision, she could see the silvery strands of hair flutter gracefully off his shoulder.

Pidge had half a mind to step on the breaks.

“Yes, so stay inside and wait for me.”

“No.”

The Green Paladin nearly groaned at the immediate sense of deja vu. Setting Green up to follow the transport ship while they climbed off board, Pidge pursed her lips.

Trying to stay calm.

“I didn’t ask you Lotor.” She glared up at him then. His gaze was steady, blue-yellow eyes focused and determined as he gazed at her. But there was something more to that look he gave her. Something that puzzled her.

That made her heartbeat flutter.

But only for a tick.

“And you didn’t ask me before grabbing my hand and jumping ship...Pidge.” With that, the strange look to Lotor’s eyes increased as he turned away to put on his helmet. Leaving Pidge’s mind reeling from…that look.

That soft, soft look.

- - -

But nothing stayed peaceful for long.

Her father wasn’t on the ship. But a Galran Commander was. So between the crushing weight of losing another lead on her father, the frantic efforts to protect the slaves that remained, and staying alive. Pidge was on the edge.

Wanting to throw herself off it.

“I thought you said your father was aboard this ship?!” Came Lotor’s frantic cry as they ducked for cover against a metal crate. Pidge hissed in pain as the cut on her thigh sang with pain. Dammit! It wasn’t supposed to be like this!

This wasn’t supposed to happen!

“I thought he was!” She screamed right back, launching right back into the fray after a moment’s rest. Running low to the ground as shots flew above her. But before the sentries could adjust their aim, Pidge lashed out.

Electrified Bayard swinging toward them.

A quick, jolt of electricity and they fell. Limp limbs of metal and wires on the floor. She could feel Lotor’s gaze on her. Burning her skin even through her armor. Pidge’s clenched fist and grip on her weapon turned near choking.

“You thought? You risked our lives on a mere guess? You fool!”

She turned toward him.

“I never asked you to come with me!” She must’ve looked like a mess, but Pidge couldn’t find it in herself to care. So what if Lotor saw the huge tears streaking down her face? She didn’t care.

Didn’t want to care anymore.

She just wanted her father back. Was that so wrong? Was that so hard for Lotor to understand? Looking at him, Pidge saw that strange, soft look return to his sharp features once more. His mouth parted. As if to say something. Pidge burning against his gaze, humiliated and frustrated.

She didn’t want his pity!

“Pala…Pidge, I-I didn’t mean to-“ Still looking at her, Lotor’s eyes widened. Freezing mid-sentence as he caught sight of something over her shoulder.

Pidge’s blood running cold.

She turned, but not fast enough. The world grew noisy once more with the sound of gunfire. Pidge bracing herself for the worst.

But the worst never came.

It was Lotor. The enemy everyone was so hesitant about trusting. It was that Galran Prince that tackled her to the side, out of harm’s way.

At his own expense.

“AHHHGH!” Lotor howled, clutching his upper back. Purple skin sizzling from the heat of the blast. Cut into his body savagely. Blood already running down his back in deep, dark maroon rivets.

Drops of it dripping onto her armor. Their collided forms poorly hidden between a wall and another crate. His weight baring down on her smaller body. Silver hair brushing Pridge’s cheek as he loomed above her. Face pinched in pain.  But that soft look remained as he gazed down at her.

“P-Pidge…”

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 1 - Trust

Lotidge Ship Week: Day 1 - Trust

(Quick note that NONE of this is tied to “Golden Madness” in any way. And will follow a linear story for the rest of the week. Enjoy!)

===

Hostility, he expected.

But an IMMEDIATE knife to the throat? The Voltron Paladin must hate him more than he had previously thought. Said welder of the very pointy Luxite blade was the Half-Galra Paladin that had freed Acxa from the Weblum. Now, what was his name again?

“Keith, is it? This is pretty poor gratitude from someone who just stopped your suicide mission into that shield.” Something flashes in those gray-violet eyes. Something like shame and anger.

It made Lotor want to laugh.

Was that all it took to get these Paladins riled up? How cute. Keith curled his lips back in a very Galra way, pushing the point of the blade deeper. So that a drop of blood appeared right next to the Galran’s Prince’s jugular.

“YOU DID WHAT?” Thank the Stars Lotor had the sense to take a step back as the Keith whipped around at the sudden, new voice. A boy in blue armor appearing. Pretty, even as his face twisted in worry and anger.

But not his type.

“Keith?! You were going to what?”

“L-Lance, I was only trying to-“

“Trying to do what? Be a quiznacking hero again?”

“What’s that suppose to m-“

“Did I just start a lover’s quarrel?” Lotor thought out-loud. Stars, just watching these two brought another wave of aching pain to Lotor’s head.

They galred at him.

Which, naturally, resulted Keith’s knife finding its way back to its spot on Lotor’s throat. Ugh. Well give him a blade to the throat over a lover’s quarrel any-

“WE’RE NOT LOVERS!” Said lovers shouted in perfect sync at the exact same time. Lotor raising a single white eyebrow in response.

Their faces flushed red.

On second thought, having a discussion with the Defenders of the Universe might not have been the best idea. Especially if he had to deal with two pining idiots. He should’ve just flown into the sun and saved himself this misery.

“So, uh, this is the guy that just saved us?” Looking away from the oblivious males in front of him, Lotor watched as a larger male in yellow armor walked into the hanger all-to cautiously. Staring at the Galran Prince as if he would suddenly lash out and rip their heads off. And, believe him. He wanted to. But he couldn’t.

Not when they were all he could turn to.

It hurt his pride to admit such a thing, but between that witch and his father…he had to come in and save the people who dreamt of the Empire’s fall to gain some semblance of credibility. He despised the feeling of needing something so desperately, but here he was.

Begging.

“Prince Lotor, a…pleasure I’m sure.” Lotor growled as he glanced between the knife at his neck and the Keith. Which only served to get said knife pushed even closer to the Prince’s neck. Damn, if his generals hadn’t taken his weapons-

“While, I’d like to thank you for what you did, I can’t afford to let our guard down. Especially not to you.” A new voice chided, not unlike a parent’s scolding of a child, as a man dressed in black armor walked up to Lotor. A man the Galran Prince instantly recognized.

The Champion himself.

But how did-No. No, this man wasn’t the Champion. Lotor knew it, felt it. This man prancing around in his father’s old armor may look just like that Champion, but he wasn’t. His scent was too cold, too devoid of any real trauma. Something was wrong with his man.

Something very, very wrong.

“I think you should worry about your guard being too high, Champion.” The man even reacted blankly to an otherwise traumatic title.

Curious.

“Our guard is plenty high enough Prince Lotad.” Oh for the love of-Could no one hold a real conversation in this damned ship?! And who would dare insult-

He saw her.

The sight of her made Lotor subconsciously stand up straighter. The small woman walking to stand by the fake Black Paladin’s side. Hair short and amber-colored, curling around a pretty face. A woman in war, Lotor was no stranger to…but she looked so young. Her features still soft with youth. But her eyes…her gold, gold eyes…

They burned.

Scorched and killed as she glared at him. Seemingly more distrutive than the Half-Galra who currently had a knife to the Prince’s throat. Those eyes were not young.

Not in the least.

“Why did you do it?” The questioning outburst came as a surprise. Even to the Green Paladin who said them and the Galran Prince they were directed at. And, despite every logical part of Lotor’s brain telling him not to, he looked up into those bight eyes. Held those eyes within his own like a spoil of war. Beautiful and focused.

Just his type.

“Because I have to trust you.”

Svidge Week - Day 3: Space Hospital + Light Angst

Svidge Week - Day 3: Space Hospital + Light Angst

(Also a potential scene in “Golden Madness”??? Y’all are getting all the spoilers!)

===

His entire body felt heavy.

As if made by lead. He knew he needed to get up, to wake. But his body wasn’t having it.

Then he heard a voice.

“Jesus, still out cold huh?” It sounded familiar, that voice. But Sven’s head hurt too much to even place it at the moment.

A hand pressed against his forehead.

A small, comforting weight against his skin. Not exactly soft, but it was warm and welcoming. Sven stirred.

Finally opening his eyes.

The world was instantly too bright, the room so pure white it hurt his eyes. But the warm hand against head soon disappeared. Sven’s eyes eventually adjusting to the harsh light.

An angel standing before him.

Long, amber-colored hair that hung to her waist. Curling at the ends in odd, choppy ways. Pale, freckled skin that seemed to glow in the room’s bright light. Big golden eyes with long lashes looked up at him, surprised.

He couldn’t breathe.

“O-Oh…hey. Um…Sven, is it? How are you feeling?” With the way she looked at him, one would think that she felt he had all the answers.

But Sven didn’t even know the questions.

“I-I am Sven. Yes, I am the good.” I am the good? Stars above, Sven wanted to smack his head in frustration. The beautiful girl before him only raised an eyebrow in confusion.

“Well…that’s great. I’m Pidge, and you’re in a, sort of, hospital. Do you remember anything from yesterday?” She moved to his side, a white lab coat clinging to her slight, slender frame. A pale green sweater and black tights peaking out from underneath. Sven swallowed.

His throat dry.

“Yes, I think so. Slav, my partner, and I were investigating a strange ship and-“ A thought suddenly surfaced in Sven’s mind. Like a drowning man breaking over the surface of the water.

“You! You’re that-“

“The one who kinda hit you in the face with a grappling hook…” Pidge’s gold eyes fluttered away from him awkwardly, pink lips pursing. But when she looked back at him her eyes were soft, apologetic.

Sad in a way Sven couldn’t figure out.

“Sorry.” By now, Sven’s headache had eased somewhat. Recognizing that he was, indeed, in an infirmary of sorts. Wearing clothes that fit him eerily well.

Perhaps they were someone else’s?

Sven tried moving. Tried to sit up from his laying-down position on a narrow medical cot. But the tick he got so much as an elbow underneath himself-

Pain exploded within his chest.

“AGH!” Those warm, small hands were on him once more. Gently guiding him back down on the cot.

Gold eyes filled with worry.

“Woah! Woah, easy there Sven. Easy.” Had he not been in so much pain, he would’ve melted into such gentleness. But Pidge seemed to ready for this. Leaving his side for  only a tick to pick out two white pills and a glass of water.

“Here, it’ll help with your injury. But be sure to tell me if anything else hurts ok? You got shot in chest, you can’t just move around like that after something so dangerous! Jeez, the healing pods didn’t even know where to begin with you, it was so bad.” She was rambling. Sounding angry with him, but those eyes...Golden and lovely.

Soft with worry.

He took the pills and washed them down, with Pidge’s assistance. Unable to answer her in the face of such genuine worry. Laying him back to rest, she lingered by his side for a few more heart beats. Sven’s own heart thumping against his chest for the pretty, kind girl who threw a grappling hook at his face.

Completely enamored.

“What you did was crazy…but you saved Lance.” She let out a small, huffing laugh. Amber curls swaying unto his arm. Sven having half a mind to reach up and run his hand through that soft mass of curls. To touch that soft cheek dotted with freckles in such a way that they put the stars to shame.

Pidge smiled.

“So thank you.” She had such a lovely smile, and Sven could only respond with one of his own. Albeit a little breathlessly.

“Y-Yes, you are welcome Pidge.” Giving him one last, warm look, Pidge turned to leave. All while Sven could only stare at her small, retreating figure.

“Just call me if you need anything and try to get some rest.” She called over her shoulder, warm curls of hair streaming behind her. Sven watching her from his cot, the pills taking affect. Making his eyelids heavy, not with pain this time, but rather just welcoming sleep. But still Sven made an effort to watch Pidge walk out of the infirmary.

Svidge Week - Day 2: Sven’s Reality + Angst
Svidge Week - Day 2: Sven’s Reality + Angst

Svidge Week - Day 2: Sven’s Reality + Angst

(Might also be a scene in “Golden Madness”??? So???)

===

Sven was nervous.

I mean, sure, he was willing to risk his life for the Guns of Gamora…but this?

This was madness.

Here he was, just an adverage member, on his way to meet THE HEADS of the Guns of Gamora themselves. The fabled Prince and his brilliant wife. The lakers of this great rebellion wanted to personally meet him.

And Slav.

“Just relax Sven, the Prince and his Princess in this reality are known to be 78% more merciful than in any other reality.” Sadly, even Slav’s universal probabilities did nothing to soothe Sven’s frazzled nerves as they walked through the last door to their meeting place.

Thus began the wait.

And no amount of shifting his weight or fidgeting did anything to ease the nervousness spinning in Sven’s stomach. Had they done something wrong? Was the Prince displeased with their performance? Were they g-

“Sorry for the wait!” Sven perked up at the sound of a voice, female but gruff. And a daintier, happier sound. Bells and bangles, he supposed.

Then he saw her.

And she made Sven’s knees go weak. He wanted to collapse onto the floor, but he was so taken by her appearance, Sven couldn’t look away. She simultaneously made him weak in the legs and heart pound in ways nothing ever had before.

She was gorgeous.

Small and pale and freckles all over her soft skin. A slender, toned frame that a pure white catsuit clung to. A laboratory official’s uniform, Sven dimly recognized. The only difference being the small, pale green shawl wrapped around her delicate shoulders. Everything about her seemed so…small and pale.

Except her presence.

She descended from the high staircase with the greatest amount of dignity and grace Sven had ever seen. Her gait posed and purposeful in every way. Seeming to radiate authority.

Gold, belled anklets ringing with every step.

Shining, golden bangles sparking on her wrists.

Her face came into clearer view, and Sven nearly started at it. Make no mistake, her features were as lovely as the rest of her.

But horribly scarred.

Her right eyelid appeared to have been sliced mercilessly, but it had, miraculously, healed enough to where it only left very harsh scars along her freckled skin.

Her eye, however, was another matter.

It had been removed completely in favor for a cybernetic one that appeared to operate just like the other eye. Sven, though, was no stranger to scars. But on her…they seemed almost cruel.

And she seemed proud of them.

Wearing the slashes along her right eye like badges of honor. As if a testament to her life. And it suddenly made this small woman seem larger than life.

Her hair the color of fire.

No wait…maybe? Not quite fire, but not quite orange either. A color Sven had never seen before. So warm and startling against the pale colors of skin and clothes, it was nearly as jarring as the slashes across her face.

But it looked so soft.

Long and curling to her slim waist. Pitch-black eyelashes, on both eyes, fluttered over to him to meet his eyes.

Sven nearly jolting.

Her remaining, human eye was the same bright gold as her bangles and anklets. Bright and warm and sharp with intelligence and purpose. Red lips curled up invitingly against the soft green markings under her eyes.

Pointed ears adored with long earrings.

“You must be Sven, it’s nice to finally meet you.” And there she was, standing right in front of him. One of the most beautiful Alteans he had ever seen. Sven had been right.

She was short.

Even with the heels.

But still, he grasped her outreached hand as respectfully as he could. Trying not to think about the callouses on the tips of her fingers or the softness of her skin.

Or the sweat coating his palms.

Their hands parted from each other in a way that almost hurt. He must’ve continued to stare at her, despite his best efforts. Face flushing red. But how could he not? It was impossible not to gaze upon such a bright little creature like her.

A woman who smiled like a defibrillator.

“L-Likewise Ms…?”

“Oh! It’s Pidge. Just Pidge is fine.” Pidge laughed, waving those small hands of her’s in front of her as if to swat away any formalities. Sven rolled the name off his mouth.

Pidge.

He liked it.

“So do you know why you were called here Sven?” Her tone now serious, her gold eye boring into his gray ones. Sven stood up straighter. Right. He was meeting the Guns of Garmora’s Prince and Princess.

"No ma'am." Her red lips gave a little twitch at the title, but she turned away from him all the same. Breaking that entrancing eye contact.

Looking towards Slav.

“But I'm guessing you have an idea as to why?" Slav didn’t even wait a tick. Closing two pairs of his arms and puffin out his chest proudly.

"Of course! For instance there is a 28% percent chance that in this reality you are here to kill us."

“Only 28%? I must be getting soft in the other realities then!“ Good Stars above that teasing smile on her face would be the death of him. Slav, however, took to comment as a grave offense. His large eyes narrowing in a near comical way. Shrieking his protest.

“Yes! ‘Only 28%’, are you doupting me?”

“Are you threatening my mate?”

Sven looked towards the new voice.

From the top pf the staircase was none other than the Prince himself. Founder and leader of the Guns of Gamora. One of the last Galrans alive.

Prince Lotor.

He truly was as fearsome as they said. Purple skin with yellow-azure eyes. Short silver hair trimmed just above his neck. Red markings, like bloodied cuts on his cheeks. With face full of sharp, chiseled angels that made him all the more intimidating.

Earrings dangling from his pointed ears.

As the Prince decended from the stars, Sven suddenly felt small. Dressed in black and metal plates, the Prince left no room to question his authority. Taking away all the oxygen in the room with his mere presence. His long, red-violet cape snapping behind him like a serpent as he glared at Slav.

“I’ll repeat myself one more time, were you threatening my mate?” Curling his lips back, Lotor snarled at Slav. The latter quickly hiding behind Sven. Shaking his head left and right vigorously. The Prince relaxing.

Sven’s heart having long since stopped.

Mate?

He couldn’t…

There was no way…

“Easy Pretty Boy, Easy…” Pidge laughed like the bells on her ankles. Bright and cheerful with that gruff voice of her’s. Walking over to Lotor, slipping her hand in his.

Pulling him down for a kiss.

The Prince’s eyes fluttered shut above Pidge as he reached for the shawl around her shoulders. All his remaining tension disappearing under Pidge’s care. Lips moving together in habitual sync. Slipping the green shawl off her body to reveal bare, smooth shoulders.

A bite mark like scar on one of them.

There was a noise Sven couldn’t place, in his head perhaps? A sort of mournful wailing. Dimly, Sven remembered the lessons about the near-extinct Galran race that the Guns of Gamora’s Generals had taught him, back when he had first enlisted.

“Galrans mate only once…”

They pulled away, the Prince’s eyes dreamy as he stared down at the small, smiling woman with the gold eye and scarred face.

Love in every feature.

“They chose a single mate who they trust to stay by their side…Marking them with a scar.”

“You’ll be the death of me Katherine.” But Lotor smiled as he said this, voice low and purring. Arms moving to wrap around Pidge’s slim waist. But she only rolled her mismatched eyes and smacked his shoulder.

Still smiling.

“Hush! We have work to do, you crazy thing.” She finally, finally looked back at Sven. Love lighting every single one of her beautiful, scarred features. Love.

Love for Lotor.

“They are then bound to each other. Never to leave, never to betray one another…”

“Sorry about that Sven, this guy,” At this, Pidge elbowed Lotor in the side. “He’s a handful.”

Sven couldn’t answer. He was a grown man drowning on dry land. His throat felt like it was stuffed with towels. Tongue dry and heavy in his jaw as he watched the Galran Prince and his wife smile softly at one another.

“Ah…so this is the reality that the Princess is the Galran Prince’s mate…” Slav murmured absentmindedly, coming out from his hiding space behind Sven.

While Sven could only smile.

“It’s alright.”

Like ripping his own heart out.

Svidge Week - Day 1: Soulmates + Angst

Svidge Week - Day 1: Soulmates + Angst

===

“Its an alternate reality!”

He couldn’t breathe. How could he? This…small woman before had nearly killed him.

This small woman from his dreams.

Believe him, he knows it sounds crazy, but its true. Sven was born at an Altean rehab center. Meant to house potential ‘workers’ for the Altean Empire. He lived there with his parents until he was 13. His life there had been restrictive and monitored, but he had his family.

He had been happy.

Before his mild-mannered parents were killed for being ‘physically inferior’ and a ‘long-term unreliability’. After that…Sven had nothing.

And then the dreams started.

Blurry and unfocused at first, the dreams were all Sven could cling to. But they were enough.

She was enough.

The dreams seemed to be from another life altogether. Another life more peaceful and wonderful than the only one Sven has ever known. This woman in green had been different though.

Happier.

In Sven’s dreams they had lived somewhere wonderful. With green, lush grass and the sun bright and warm. So much unlike his life before joining arms with the Guns. It had been a simpler life. Where the pair of them had lived side by side. Grew up together.

But in the dreams she had always been smiling. Usually at him. Other times at inventions her nimble fingers often crafted in her spare time. Brilliant in every way. Her expression so carefree and sparkling, Sven could hardly bare to look at her. Sven used to…used to think that they might’ve been together.

Been in love.

Even now, if Sven thought about it, he could almost smell the scent of her hair from that long ago life. Or the feel of her hands, small and callous from typing, around his own. Even the look of her lips, soft and pink, had Sven’s own almost moving in a phantom memory. Memories.

The only thing Sven could cling to.

He had joined the Guns of Gamora with the hope of avenging his parents and the…very fragile hope of meeting the beautiful girl with the golden eyes. And whose to say he couldn’t? Anything was possible.

Right?

Sven had wanted to find that beautiful girl from his dreams and ask her why he couldn’t get her out of his head. Why she haunted him in such a lovely way. Both in that other life and in this one. Memories of her clinging to him like a drug, a ghost. Could they…?

Could they come together once more?

But no, the look in her eyes proved otherwise. The small woman in green before him may have those same burning, brilliant gold eyes. Those same warm, soft strands of hair around her face. Those same sparkling little freckles all over her skin like kisses. This small woman that had nearly taken his head off, may look like his dear love from another life.

But she wasn’t.

Have you considered...

The first time Pidge and Lotor square off she calls him ‘Pretty Boy.’

Cue Lotor’s brain momentarily short-circuiting long enough for PIdge to land a sick left hook across his face.

Cue Lotor wanted to die as he see Pidge flash that smug, triumphant smile we all know and love.

Cue Lotor becoming instantly WHIPPED for the Green Paladin of Voltron.

, Rest in Frickin' Pieces Lotor…

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

OH GOD I NEARLY DID AN ALL-NIGHTER TO GET THIS DONE!!!

So after AO3 deleted more than HALF of this Chapter, I decided to step up and re-write it all. I apologize if it may not be the best, but I do cover some very important questions and topics.

Like how Season 3 kicked Golden Madness’s butt and just how complicated things are going to get. Along with even more questions.

Special thanks to @coffee-your-teapot for helping me with some points of confusion.

As usual I’d like to tag my wonderful readers @olkarianprincess @lotidge @galacticlee @risingpheonix527 @strugglingtoast and @thechocolateobssessed-blog-blog so that they can witness the utter chaos I’ve created.

Love you guys!!!

Angsty Kuron/Pidge - Part 2 (Warning! Slightly NSFW)

Pidge Ship Week: Bonus Day 8 - Free Day

Which means that I gotta do some good ole fashioned Smutty Angst.

===

He knew he shouldn’t be doing this.

He knew he shouldn’t be this close to her. His mind screamed at him to stop. Begged him to not do anything stupid.

Anything like this.

Anything that consisted of holding Pidge in his arms. HIS arms that is, not Shiro’s, where she THOUGHT she was. Anything that included pressing their lips together. Or following her to her room. But it was easy to do these things to her.

Heartbreakingly easily.

She let him in her heart with little resistance. So trusting, it made him sick and, at the same time, dizzy with glee. But…the hard part was convincing HIMSELF that the one she wanted was HIM, not the man he looked like.

That she wanted him, Kuron.

That the one who was supposed to feel the thin legs wrapped around his waist was actually HIM and not Shiro. The one who she wanted in her bed was HIM. HE was the one Pidge loved.

Not Shiro.

It was cruel to think otherwise. So Kuron chose to lose himself in her, in his lies. To lose himself in the way they dove down on her bed. In the way they moved together.

In the way the little woman before him peeled off her baggy shirt. Pale, freckled skin bare for him to see. Smiling against the vibrant blush on her face. Gold eyes shimmering in such a way that seemed to beg him to touch her.

He had to lie to himself then, that she loved him as he ran his hands along her skin. But God…did he love HER.

“Pidge.” Was all he could pant out as he rocked against her wet warmth. Hours, maybe minutes later. Naked in every way except the truth. His head buried in her hair. His voice practically BREAKING with need. Hands holding onto her like dying life.

“Oh God…Please…” Let him drown in her. Let him forget. Let him break and crumble underneath her gentle touch.

Let him be real in Pidge’s arms.

Let him fool himself in thinking that the one she was so eager to have between her legs was HIM. Let him lie to himself and say that the one she wanted in her bed was HIM. That the hands she wanted touching her chest were HIS.

Not Shiro’s.

She cried out, blunt nails scraping down his back. Catching on fabricated scars. Legs tightening around him. Shuddering and sobbing. And he tried not to think about how he deserved so much more pain for the lies he told her. For what they were doing right now.

She clung to him.

Kissed him.

Moved with him.

He didn’t last much longer after that. And, for once, he wasn’t riddled with guilt. Everything was just bliss. White-hot and gold. Everything was just her.

Pidge.

“I love you. I love you. I love you.” Even his whimpers were broken as he pressed kisses onto her neck, bare chest, and soft lips. Secretly, Kuron was happy. Ecstatic.

She was HIS now.

Not Shiro’s. Not Lotor’s. HIS. He finally had something to his name, something he could hold on to…

She smiled at him.

Skin slick with sweat. Glowing brighter than a candle. Bangs clumping against a damp forehead. She was a mess in his arms.

She was the most beautiful thing he ever saw.

“I love you to.” There, that look in her golden eyes. That’s what broke him. With her hands on his face, its what made him dive down to claim her lips once more.

It’s what made him forget.

Forget who he was. What they just did. He felt real. He felt like a normal, actual human wrapped in the arms of the woman he loved. God, if there even WAS one, let him stay like this. With her. With her love in his artificial heart. Let him be human with her. Their lips slotted together, messy and lazy.

Happy.

“Shiro…” Pidge breathed softly as her hands rubbed the red welts she left on his scar-riddled back. He stilled. Something vital draining out of him.

He broke.

Make no mistake, Kuron didn’t facially react. He just stared at the small, smiling woman below him. With the golden eyes soft with love. With the honey-hued hair sprawled all around her pillow. He traced the line of her bare shoulder.

His heart bleeding.

He should’ve known. Should’ve recognized that he could never be happy. Not when Shiro was all Pidge could see. Not when he wasn’t human in the way that mattered. Who was he kidding? She could never want HIM. She could never belong to HIM, despite what they just did.

Shiro still in her heart.

But for a second, a moment that will always haunt him, he had believed she had loved HIM, wanted HIM. Kuron looked down at the woman he loved. Who didn’t love him, not truly.

Not knowing whether to kiss her or kill her.

They Had Slept In The Same Bed Out Of Necessity, But Come Morning...Lotor Couldn't Find It Within Himself

They had slept in the same bed out of necessity, but come morning...Lotor couldn't find it within himself to regret their decision. Even if she snored. Like really, really snored. But even still, Lotor couldn't help but snuggle closer. She was so warm...the Green Paladin wasn't sick was she? Taking a strand of her warmth-colored hair, Lotor mused on the small woman sleeping, snoring against him. Soft against his battle-worn hands. This woman, he thought. Troublesome to his Empire in every way. Troublesome to the Prince's own health! Pidge shifted. Moving on her side so that she faced him. Still snoring like a damn engine. But Lotor didn't care. How could he? Her face looked so soft like this. So young and relaxed in the morning light. Hair splayed all around her in maddening, illogical patterns. She looked so different like this. So much unlike the blasted little demon she became whenever they fought. He stared at her mouth. At the soft curves of her upper lip. The plushness of her bottom one. Then Lotor realized something. Realized something with a jolt so bad, the Prince nearly fell out of their shared bed altogether. He cursed her, cursed the little woman inching closer to him. All while wanting to laugh. Damn this little Thief of Hearts.

There Was Always A Distance Between Them. A Bridge That, No Matter How Hard Shiro Tried, He Could Never

There was always a distance between them. A bridge that, no matter how hard Shiro tried, he could never cross. She was always moving, making, creating. She was getting ahead of life faster than he ever would. But it still wasn't enough. It wasn't enough for her to join them. To come with him and her family to unknown territories. Time was, and always will be, the killer.

“I Shouldn’t Be So Enamored With You, I Know.” She Tried To Struggle Out Of His Grip, To Bite His

“I shouldn’t be so enamored with you, I know.” She tried to struggle out of his grip, to bite his hand, but his other hand was wrapped around her shoulder threateningly.

Claws sinking into the skin.

“Let go of me!” Pidge tried her best to spit in his face. To get him away from her. His claws grazed her mouth, as if he was trying to map their shape out. But he remained close.

Too close.

“But is it wrong that I want to keep you here, with me, forever?” He was warm, his hands and body so near her own, was almost gentle as he handled her. His eyes soft with…something.

Soft with a sort of madness.

Ok but how about some Angsty Kuron/Pidge???

He knows.

He knows how much the person he's SUPPOSED to be, the person he is to Voltron, loves her. Loves that cunning little firecracker of a woman. He knows. He understands.

Because so does he.

But when she looks at him with those gilded gold eyes, how can he not want to break down then and there? How can he not want to grab her, shake her and tell her to look at HIM. Not who she thinks he is. Because every soft look, every smile she gives him...they aren't his.

They're Shiro's.

The man he looks like, sounds like, walks like, breathes like. The man everyone looks up to. The man Pidge loves. The man whose lucky enough to be the recipient of such precious affection.

And he can never be him.

No matter how much he wants to be.

why is lance's only trait being allura's boyfriend??? everyone, even allura's own dad, thanked lance for choosing her and loving her but like what about lance???

what about the things he had to sacrifice becauee he accidentally became a paladin??? he had to leave his family behind and i bet every single day he misses them, his mom, dad, sister, niece and nephews but he hides it behind a smile because what else can he do??? hes in the middle of nowhere in space and hes got responsibilities on his shoulders because hes a paladin, what about when those responsibilities become too much for him??? hes still a young boy, about 16 or 17 im gonna guess. what about the numerous amount of times he felt insecure and unworthy and unloved and undeserving??? how come no one told him that they are proud of him for the things that he did and how deserving he is of the love and care from others???

do they all see him as the boy who fell in love with allura at first glance who then accomplished his dream of being her boyfriend???

like im sorry but this is a hate crime

first of all the relationship was one-sided from the beginning. allura never saw lance as a potential partner material. the only thing that happened between them was lance's huge crush on her. allura never noticed it nor did she care to. thats it.

you cant just tell me she went and fell in love with lotor and then found lance when she was looking for a replacement. if that did happen, thats pretty disrespectful to lance but also allura would never do something like that.

i was actually quite shocked that the writers made them a couple. they literally have no chemistry together whatsoever. even allura didnt deserve this. i mean, lance is a great guy and is a great partner but allura had so much more development to do i just -

ahhhh!!!
