Here's part 4! Sorry it took a while I have been busy and I just recently got back from a trip!
Hope you guys enjoy!!
"I'm going to go follow them," Wally stated unexpectedly while in conversation with Veronica. When the woman looks up at the moppet, who is already standing, her gaze is filled with confusion. "What?" she asks, puzzled, hoping Wally would clarify.
"I'm going to go follow them," he stated again, as Veronica drank her tea, she asked, "Who?" With reluctance in his voice, he answered, "You know...them?...(Y/N)?" "Are you sure about that?" she asks, only to receive a nod in return. She glanced at Wally, puzzled, before asking, "Why?- Hold on, do you even know where they are?" He hesitated but answered, "I-I think?"
Veronica merely sighs and grins at Wally. "Alright, I'll go with you," she said as she rose up. Wally stares at the woman, perplexed. "What? - Why?" Wally asks, Veronica laughs slightly. "To help you look for them, silly! After all, you do have a bit of a track record of getting confused with the roads," she said, which was true; Wally has a track record of being confused.
"Now wait here; I'm going to go get my stuff; I doubt this will be a short trip," she remarked, prompting Wally to turn away sheepishly. Veronica merely smiles and embraces him firmly before letting go to go home to retrieve some of her belongings.
Wally sighed as he approached his bag in his room. As he entered, he saw a piece of jewelry. He studied it after taking it up: it's a thin chain that extends to the bottom of the sternum that is attached to a little, medium-gold spiral. To put it bluntly, the necklace looks great. Despite the fact that he has no recollection of it being there or having such a thing in the first place. Nonetheless, it looks great, and something in him tells him to wear it, so he does.
The necklace fits him wonderfully in the mirror! It complements his blue sweater vest quite nicely. He fixes his hair; he had it down for who knows how long, and he desperately wants his beloved pompadour back. He knows you wouldn't appreciate seeing him in such a state. Looking like a mess and all.
Grabbing the hairbrush, he began brushing and combing his hair carefully. He picked up his hairspray and began to apply it to his hair. When he inhales the spray, he coughs slightly, but when he looks in the mirror, he thinks he looks okay. He was going to reach for something when he spotted something in the mirror. He stares closely at his reflection, searching for what he saw, though it must have been a trick of the light. But he was certain he saw something in his eyes; perhaps he was imagining.
He collects his stuff and heads downstairs, where he sees Veronica, who appears to be in good spirits. "All set!" she informs Wally. He nodded, and they both walked out, shutting the door behind them. Both talking to one another as they made their way to the car. "I'm a little excited for this trip" Veronica express and Wally smiles, happy to see that his friend is joyful about leaving the neighborhood. " We should stop by at some places to get snacks though," she said, Wally hums and agreed, thinking it might be the best to do so as he's not sure how far away you are, only that he knows where it is and something is nudging him to go there.
They climbed inside the car, putting their belongings in the back seat. "Ready?" Veronica questioned, and he nodded. "Ready,". He starts the car and drove away. The area appeared somewhat foggy, but that may have been due to last night's rain. "It sure is foggy today," he commented, and the woman next to him agreed. "Maybe it's from the rain yesterday," she said, and he nodded. Veronica even believes it's due to the rain.
"Say, shouldn't we tell the others we're leaving?" Veronica questioned, peering out the window to view the misty surroundings. Wally merely drove on. "No, I don't think so; I think I know where they would be, probably a couple of hours from here," he responded, unsure of the distance.
"But what if they get worried?" Veronica wondered. Wally pauses and responds, "They wouldn't; the drive isn't that far." With uncertainty(?) in her voice, she adds, "Are you sure?" "I think.". He notices her open her mouth to say something, only to have her lips close. They pass the trees that surround the neighborhood, now driving on a highway.
"What if Y/N gets upset? I mean, we're just randomly showing up at their house!" Veronica pointed out after a few minutes of driving. This caused Wally to abruptly halt and slam the brakes on their car. "Jesus!-W̷̨̻͊͘a̶̞̹͂l̴͈̩̆s̴̟̄!-Hey...are you ok?" Veronica ask, worried. "You're right, w-we....we can't just show up there all of a sudden...." he said sadly, looking down and gripping the stirring wheel tightly, cursing himself for being so stupid. "Maybe we should turn back?" she stated, maybe she's right; maybe they should just turn back and forget about this trip ever existing. Maybe he's just spiraling down and he needs to lie down-No! Wally shook his head.
"No, if they get mad then so be it, neighbor, I...I want to apologize to them for being such a bad friend. It had always been me and them ever since we moved to the same neighborhood. I miss them and I want their company back....and if not, then at least apologizing to them might put me at ease." He said, "And even if they get upset, it's fine! I'll take it all just for them!" Wally is being stupid; he should know that he is.
"You're a stubborn man" she huffs and crosses her arm, Wally chuckles "I-I know, they influence me to be one, I think" he stated. "Are you sure about this?" she questioned, and he nodded, despite the fact that he shouldn't. "If we stop at a gas station, I'll call Barnaby just in case," Veronica added, and Wally had to ponder for a moment about who Barnaby was. He feels stupid for forgetting his nice gray—wait, blue—neighbor. Barnaby was blue. "Are you alright?" Veronica asked, he sighed and replied. "Yeah, don't worry, neighbor," reassuring her.
For a moment, they were followed by silence. Veronica would gaze at Wally, seeing his face shifts into a specific expression, till she eventually questioned, "What's wrong?" Wally simply shrugs and drives on, as if the question does not exist. "Wally, what's wrong?" she questioned once again. "Nothing's wrong, neighbor," he uttered, a little aggressively. "Clearly, there is one; you're making that face when there's something wrong," she pointed out. For a brief period, the two sat in silence again until Wally expressed. "I thought Barnaby was gray; I kind of feel stupid that I thought he was gray,"
"If it makes you feel any better, I thought Barnaby was yellow, like the necklace I gave you." It didn't.
Wally hums and continues to drive. "Wait, you gave me this?" he asks, motioning to his necklace. "Why yes! I gave it to you before I left, didn't I?" she says, prompting Wally to pause. "I guess...I was sure I found it in my room," he trailed off. "No, I gave it to you; you're just confused as usual," she responded, and Wally sighed. Perhaps she's correct; maybe he's getting things mixed up.
Wally pulled off at a gas station after two hours of traveling. He and Veronica exited the car, with Veronica heading into the convenience store to buy something and maybe phone Barnaby to notify him of their unexpected disappearance. Wally glances around and notices that everything appears to be quiet and foggy. Granted, it had been foggy beforehand, but the fog is more evident, reminding him of loneliness in some ways. (You are alone in this world, there is no one to rely on except the fog that helps dull all the sorrow and despair that exists within oneself, where it is possible to die alone, where it is possible to die alone, where it is possible to die alone, where it is possible to-).
"Wals?" He snapped out of his thoughts upon hearing your voice. Turning around to look, he only saw Veronica. "Are you ready to go?" she asked ever so kindly, and he nodded. Gods, he felt dumb for assuming it was you; he was convinced it was you who had uttered his name. Is he imagining things? Is he confusing Veronica and you? He hopes not; it would be impolite to mistake something for someone who isn't present. "Yeah, let's go," Wally said, getting into the car, fastening his seatbelt, and starting the engine. "Say, neighbor," he trailed off, "did you inform Barnaby about us leaving?" Veronica nodded, saying she had, and Barnaby had said good luck and he'd tell the others. Wally smiled at that and kept driving while the fog slowly engulfed the station, obscuring it from their sight.

Here, I have fluff, take it as a sorry for breaking you guys with my Love Binds story-
If you lovely neighbors see any mistakes, please don't be afraid to point them out!
Enjoy!
It was a nice day. You and Wally were planning your next activity, laying out maps and lists for the next outing, as you both tend to do. You smile at Wally as he points out the next location. "We could go there; They have this pretty lovely restaurant that I very much like!" Wally said enthusiastically. You look at the location and hum. "It does seem interesting," you said, giving Wally a side eye, who stares at you. "Interesting? That's it, neighbor? It's lovely! What do you mean it seems interesting?" He quips up with an offended gasp, causing you to laugh at his reaction, which only seems to only make him look more insulted.
"I'll have you know that, that place is the absolute most, neighbor! And, as a matter of fact, it is one of my favorites too! It is not just interesting! It is lovely and magnificent!" He ranted, moving his hands as if he were animated, causing you to double down on your laughter.
He pouts, folding his arms and turning away. "Alright, alright, I'm sorry, it looks lovely," you replied, laughing. "There? Happy?" you humorously ask the Muppet, who is still pouting. "Awwww, come on, I was just joking, Wals," you said. "The place seems lovely; we can go there if you want; god forbid if I don't allow you to." Wally glances at you. "You'd have my head if I refused to say yes to your favorite restaurant," you remarked, smiling at him.
Wally laughs and rolls his eyes. "I think the eyes would be a good fit for my collection, neighbor," he added. Putting your hands up in surrender, you giggle, "I surrender, I surrender; please don't steal my eyes," causing him to chuckle.
"Of course not; you're my favorite; besides, how would you see your dashing neighbor if I did so?" he says, creating a theatrical attitude that makes you chuckle. "Dashing? You tell yourself that at 12:15 in the morning, Mr. I'm certainly sleeping," you joked, which resulted in a playful whack on the shoulder. You burst out laughing. "At least, I don't wake up grumpy and demanding coffee like a deprived man," he explained. You nudge him, causing him to quack in response to the abrupt attack.
"But you love me," you pointed out. Wally simply drew you close to him and smothered your face in kisses. "Yeah, yeah, I love you and all of your chaos, you gremlin," he replied. You laugh as he continues to shower kisses on your face.
"And I love you too, my dearest Mr. I am sleeping, darling," he chuckles, beaming brightly as usual. "Now, now, don't bring my sleeping into this conversation, neighbor," you snorted. "Now, let's finally pick a place so we can enjoy ourselves! After all, adventure awaits no one!" he exclaimed, puffing his chest out and pointing his fingers toward the ceiling.
-------------------------------------
The two of you ended picking a diner you and Wally wanted to go to for dinner. As for the others, you two come to a complete agreement about going to the mall and just exploring the place to see if you two find something interesting enough for the both of you to buy.
It was fun and all. While in the process, Wally keeps clowning around, making jokes and puns left and right that have you cracking up. He'd flirt with you on occasion, and if he caught you off guard, he'd always present himself wearing a sneaky, smile on his muppet face that usually ended with you wiping it off, or at least trying your best to, given the enormous height gap between you two.
While Wally stood at 6 foot 7, you were on the 5-foot scale, which was Wally's go-to spot to tease and also his go-to reason why he had to pick you up. Of course, you'd complain; it wouldn't be you if you didn't, but secretly, and probably Wally knows it too, You like that he picks you up and carries you; if the day ended with him carrying you, then you can always excuse his teasing remarks, and besides, who's to say you didn't have anything to bite back at your sweet darling?
-----------------------------------
The day finally came, you both got ready for today's activity, and you put on your best outfit, something simple and casual, something that isn't overdressed but also isn't underdressed.
When you heard the doorbell ring, you immediately knew who it was. Grabbing your bag of choice, you immediately went to open the door. There stood your beloved, dressed up in his usual aesthetic, smiling brightly as he held out his hand.
"M'lady," you giggled as you took his hand, letting him guide you out, closing the door, and locking it in the process. "I will say this, neighbor, you look very lovely!" he complimented. You grin, blushing at the kind comments. "Thank you; you look handsome if I do say so myself," he beams, guiding you along the street as you both begin to stroll. "What can I say? I have to be presentable if I want my neighbor to fall for me," he smirked, making you laugh.
"We're already dating doofus," you said, bumping your shoulder on him in a playfully manner. He chuckles softly. "Still, just because we're already dating doesn't mean I can't try my best to make you fall for me again and again." You smile, holding his hand tightly and bringing it close to you as you give it a gentle kiss.
"You already make me fall enough for you, Mr. Darling," you said, making him smile. "And you do too, my little darling neighbor," he said, kissing your forehead, causing you to smile even more.
God, you love this man with all your heart, and nothing seems to change that otherwise. It feels like, day by day, he always finds a way to make you fall for his charms even more than you already do, although that is one thing you'll never complain about. You like how sweet he is, yet he can be a bit of an arse if he ever wants to be. A good mix of fancy and sass with a bit of class.
-------------------------------------
The day goes on. After stopping at the mall to look around, you both ended up playing in the arcade for a while, attempting to beat and outscore each other and having a friendly rivalry on who could earn the best score and the most tickets. After some time, you two ended up combining both of your tickets and winning a coffee machine.
One of the many things you and Wally share is your love for games, and trying to outsmart and outbest the other was an added bonus to keeping both of your relationships with one another on its toes. It's all fun and games for the two of you; no hurt was put into it, and if one joke was amiss and it hurt the other, it was easily fixed by an apology and a snack of their choosing.
Of course, your relationship isn't perfect; you both battle with communication at times, but who doesn't? Fights tend to break out, and it isn't fine, but at the end, you both would still come back to each other, apologize, and cuddle it up if both of you were up for it. So to say the least, your relationship isn't the best, but it's not the worst either; it's a good balance of chaos, angst, and fluff, as you refer to it, to which Wally's only response was a laugh and a statement saying "You need to calm down with your books neighbor; it's sweet, but it's concerning at times on how many genres you could list off the top of your head and reflect it in reality". You laugh at that, and just thinking about it now as you two walk to your next destination with the coffee machine makes you smile.
--------------------------
Now both of you were heading to the diner after a couple of hours hanging around in the mall, which has caused you two to be hungry. Of course the two of you could have stopped at a fast food restaurant at the mall; the Jollibee there was tempting Wally very much, and you were tempted to get him to order his food so you two could jump on McDonald's and order for yourselves.
The thought of Wally eating a Jollibee at a McDonald's with a coffee machine lives in your mind rent-free, and you even went as far as to tell him about it, causing him to get a good laugh. Maybe one day, the two of you might just do that to be a menace to society, but today, it was about you and him, and the diner was something you two have been looking forward to dine at.
Being menaces to society can wait.
How's that? It is alright? I hope it is!
Thank you all for reading the story! I hope you all have a great day/night!
Goodbye!

{ Part 1 Part 2 [Part 3] Part4 }
--------------------------------
Weeks passed and Wally had never felt so numb, once a joyous man slowly spiral down into sadness and despair. Memories of you linger around his mind, walking like it owned the place and maybe it did...Maybe you had always that effect on him, it's no wonder how you guys hit it off instantly when you two found out that the other lived in the same neighborhood even though you two barely knew each other in college. You were always a force he wasn't scared to be around with....memories of your laughter and smiles toward him were something he cherish the most.......W̴̨̤̮̭͎̋͗ͅh̷͚́͠y̷̡̟̯̰̬̿͛́̔̔̚ ̵̖̉̿ï̶̡͎̩̃̑͒̚s̸͔̥̩̒ ̵̢͚͔̟̬̪̂̓͊͂̍͝í̵̝̗͂̍̂̕ţ̴̉̄͊̚̕ͅ ̶̼̘̜́s̵͉͈̝̑̏͂̒̔̕o̵͖̻̊̍͋̆̀̍ ̸̫̻̟͕̭̒̽̋͗̍̐h̵͚̎̿̚ḁ̵̢͔̩̗̪̈̃̐̋r̸̲͍̻̃͊d̴͚̮̤̣̓ ̴̻̺̻̥̞̏̑͒̍ͅt̶̩̦̟̃̉́o̶̦̩̝̪̳̮͑̒̃̓͠ ̷̤̮̼̽̇͒̾ȓ̴̗̗̬̞ͅḛ̵̼̯͒m̷̖͈̟̻̞̎͠e̸̪̥̅̃͘m̴̫̜͈̺̻͖̉̉̿̐̚b̷̞͚̟̫̩̌̅̿̆ẻ̸͈͓̱̙̫̠̈͆̇r̶͎͔͔̣̰̈́̈́?̵̨̻̩͙̟͉̌̄̿̍̀.̷̡̛̤̦̦̀̿͊̈́̆ͅ.̶̢͙̤̟̬̎͜.̶̨̟̭̙̰͎́͐̇̀͌
As time moves, regret and anger filled him, not towards you....never towards you...he...he cares too much to even direct that to you...
It was towards himself...He was careless, he lost you and he didn't even notice it, did not notice it until it was too late. He had reached a point where he refused to interact with anyone, just staying inside his home and wallowing in this sadness and grief he feels. When all of your friends found that, they were shocked then slowly....they realized the things he had realized...At first, they thought he was pulling a joke, but there was no laughter nor were there in smiles in the first place...
Wally's friends would try their best to get him to leave his home but after the second week, all had decided to leave Wally on his own, and let him process things at his own pace oddly enough, Wally appreciated that, he needed to process things, get his thoughts right.
But Veronica would visit him to check on him, she doesn't try to coax him out of his house but she would accompany him, making sure he doesn't feel lonely. Wally would allow it, welcoming his friend inside his home and the two would either talk or just sit in silence, a comfortable silence as Wally either paints or simply just sit down to gather his thoughts.
And the cycle would repeat, a routine he and Veronica had fallen in. He appreciated it, not saying he doesn't appreciate his other friends' efforts but he wants someone that wouldn't just make him pull himself together just cause. So Veronica just simply accompanying him was enough for him.
More time passes and he longs for you, he longs for that laughter of yours, your silly jokes, your presence. Why did everything end like this? How did everything end like this?...
He's not sure anymore...
-------------------------------------------
Shadows settle on the place that you left Our minds are troubled by the emptiness
Wally stood in the middle of the room, looking at you. You stood in front of Wally with a sad look, hugging yourself as the room is filled with mist and fog, cradling you as if you were its child.
Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time From the perfect start to the finish line
Slowly, you turn you back on him, walking into the thick fog. He tried to grab you, follow you as the mist slowly engulf you. He called out your name, begging you to come back. With one final look at Wally, you walk into the fog, an acceptance to the situation you were in.
And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones 'Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs
Wally falls on his knees, sobbing and breathing heavily as the fog hugs him, cold and damp just as how he remembers. He cried out, wanting this feeling to stop. He falls on the hardwood floor as darkness clouded his vision.
Setting fire to our insides for fun Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong
Shooting up, he gasp, looking around as smoke filled the room. Coughing, he tried to stand up and look around. The room was engulfed in fire. He called out to someone...a name he can't seem to remember...
Running up the stairs, looking and shouting a name he can't hear himself say but he's saying it, and his crying as he says it.
Pictures of people that he feels like he knows hang on the walls. One where there was a man and a woman with him, both seems to look just like him.
One was where it seem to be when he was young, barely seven...that's specific...
He ignored it, he ignore the photos that hang even if they felt familiar to him.
We are the reckless, we are the wild youth
He hears people shouting from the outside, begging him to get out, to leave the place but he continued. Looking from room to rom, he's begging.
Slowly, his visions blur once again. Falling down to his knees, coughing as smoke filled the room even more. Slowly he falls, hitting the floor once more.
Chasing visions of our futures One day we'll reveal the truth
Gasping as he awakens from another, he looks around. Rain falls and gray angry clouds filled the horizon. He called out someone's name as he stand up. He holds his shoulder, feeling pain in it like it has been stabbed or shot...Maybe it did? He can feel the blood and can smell it but why does it feel like it isn't his?...
He continues with his venture, walking and shouting someone's name once more. Who's name is he shouting?... He shakes his head, trying to clear away that blocking mist.
Slowly....he can hear the name he was shouting...
And slowly...he saw who he was looking for....
That one will die before he gets there
And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones
"(Y/N)!!" He shouted, running towards the body that lays on the ground, tears streaming down his face as he almost trips getting to you...
"no no no no no!" He pulled the cold body close to him, holding the wound that seems to spill blood everywhere....He feels tired too...
He called out your name, begged and cried for it, for you to wake up...Why aren't you waking up!?...
'Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone We're setting fire to our insides for fun
He held you close, sobbing and begging as the rain continues to fall down the the both of you. The forest was silent except for the rain. He look up and beg to whatever god is out there to bring you back...to take him instead of you...
"Please....."
"Not them....they all that I have left..."
We're setting fire to our insides for fun Collecting pictures from a flood that wrecked our home It was a flood that wrecked this
And He was back to that house, people arguing as he hides behind the wall. He listens in.
"This is the problem, Wallace!! You are so paranoid!!"
"If I am paranoid then explain to me will you!!"
"Explain what exactly?! Explain that my husband is a paranoid lunatic?!"
"Who was that man you were with Willow..."
Silence fills the room as Wally looks into the kitchen where his mother and father were.
"Wallace, for the last time, he was just a friend!!"
"If he was a friend then why were you making out?! Willow for god sake! WE have been married for how long now exactly?! We have a son!!"
"THAT thing is not my son!!"
"Don't even start-"
"NO WALLACE!! THAT thing upstairs is not MY son!!"
Wally simply looks as the younger version of him runs upstairs, alerting the two, and was soon followed by the man he deems as his father, calling out his name and glaring at his nasty mother that had done nothing but insult and ridiculed him growing up.
Slowly, he walks away, going through a door. Ignoring the woman who decided to leave the stove open, ignoring as how the room was slowly engulfed with fire.
Well, I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette I'm a lifeless face that you'll soon forget
He had lost sight of many things growing up, excused people's poor behavior towards himself till you came into his life, till you gave him a push that he needed to finally acknowledge that there was something wrong based on how he grew up. Years of friendship with you did him a good thing, a better thing, more than everyone in his life had done...
So why is it so hard to see you now?.....
My eyes are damp from the words you left Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest
Tears once again fall down his face, damp by the words that leave his mind, he cried as he watches both the young version of himself and the one that lost you to a point where it felt like you died...
The ringing soon followed, as both begged for the person they love to come back, the person that accepted him as himself....
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest
More ringing as he felt something inside of him shatter like a glass.
Cracking even more as he watches...
The fog was back, hugging and cradling him as if he was its son....this time he was alone...
And if you're in love, then you are the lucky one
"Wally?"
He turns to the voice and there you sat down with him under the tree, up upon a cliff that overlooks the neighborhood you both live in. Up upon that cliff where he fell in more than one way...
"You alright there?"
Gentle as always, you ask him. He smiles at you, a loving one " I'm alright neighbor"
"Be honest with me Mister or I swear-" He laughs " Or what??" he tease as he nudges you, tempting you.
You simply rolled you eyes at him with a smile, leaning against him as you both look down at the neighborhood. He looks down at you, wanting and wishing to stay at this moment, a moment where it's just you and him, a moment where he still had you and you still had him.
But not everything can stay how he want it to be...
--------------------------------------------------------
The birds chirp from the outside, the sun was slowly rising up to greet the neighborhood. Wally rises up from his bed, rubbing his eyes as he stared outside tiredly. He lets out a heavy sigh, letting his hair fall down.
After a few minutes of staying in bed and debating with himself, he finally stood up and left the comfort of his bed. Walking to a door to get himself ready for the day while fixing a picture that hang on the wall as he walked by it.
A picture of you and Wally up upon a cliff, underneath a tree, overlooking the neighborhood.

----------------------------------------------------
You stare at the mirror, hair a mess with a tired look. Months into this sufferable misery finally caught up with you, sleepless nights and late-night walks have become a remedy for a while but now, you simply wanna black out and sleep. The maybes had run around your head like a child high on sugar, which was strange since you never experience what's it like to be in a sugar rush.
Every time you walk down the street and see Wally and Veronica hand and hand together, you can't help but feel this awful feeling in your gut, the sudden feeling of sadness with the feeling of wanting to throw up the food you just ate. It was difficult that sometimes, you wish that you were as lucky as Veronica.
Lucky she was to not be in your shoes, wishing to say you part of this whole situation. But what if your friends get upset with you?! You can't have that! Gods how you wish you live a life without awareness but here you are, staring at your reflection, aware of what you feel and see, it hurts.
With a sigh, you left the bathroom, grabbing your satchel, and heading into the bedroom to grab your luggage, your mind troubled with the hurt and emptiness you feel. With a deep breath as the moonlight shines through your window, you grab your luggage. Ignoring the tears that fall, you swallow what you feel. It was time to leave now if you still wish to be able to catch the train.
You look around the room, remembering all the moments you and your friends have done in the place, remembering how Julie would style your hair, remembering how you and Sally would dress up as your favorite characters, remembering how you would welcome Eddie in when he wanted to talk about how amazing Frank is or dragging Frank in to talk to him to confess to Eddie before it was too late. You remember the days when you and Barnaby would throw jokes at each other while he helped you with the window he broke days prior. You remember the days of Poppy visiting with a bucket of paint to hide in the room from Wally.
You remember the memories with Wally, how he would throw pebbles on your window, climbing up when you invite him in. You remember the moments of late-night talks, reminiscing your college days, gossiping about how the rivals in the school were now dating. You remember his warm hugs when days were tough, you remember the rainy days when you two would hide under the bed, talking about the randomness of things, distracting him from the chaos outside.
Your eyes were damp from all these reminiscing, the ringing in your head as you heart shatters from the pain. With a final look, you grab the luggage and left, going to the train station, letting the moonlight guide your road to wherever you wanna go.
The morning sun greets the neighborhood. Everyone is up on their feet to get through the day. New neighbors were being welcome by Wally and Veronica but Wally felt off...Like something is a miss...Is he forgetting something? He shrugged it off, he'll remember later.
Hours passed by, and the afternoon came, Wally still feel that bugging feeling he can't seem to pinpoint. "You alright? You look distracted" A voice drags him out of his thought, looking at where it came from, he was met with a worried look from Veronica " I'm alright, I think I'm a bit beat, didn't sleep properly last night," he said, laughing nervously as he rubs the back of his neck. Veronica giggles " Very well then, go catch some z's babes, I'll take it from here," she said, pushing Wally to the direction of his house "You sure sweetheart? I don't mind walkin around to greet the new neighbors, would be not so neighborly of me if I don't" He said.
Veronica simply laughs as she pushes him "Don't worry bout it, I'll drop by later when I'm done to raid your pantry" Wally laughs, knowing that she would do so, after all, it has been a sort of routine of theirs lately. After making sure and persuasion from the lovely woman, Wally lets up and agrees he'll catch some sleep.
Walking down the street, he feel at peace, it was calming then slowly, he thinks of a certain someone, he hasn't seen you in a while, maybe a quick visit wouldn't hurt? Continuing his walk, he hums happily, maybe he can lay on the bed you own, your bed has always been the softest and the most comfortable one. He smiles at the thought, maybe he can raid your pantry for apples, you always had one due to him! The thought makes him chuckle a little to himself as he turns to a corner, going to where your house is located instead of his.
The street was familiar, even though you two live in the same row, your house was quite far from his place but it was sure near to the street he was currently on. As he walks, he starts to think of how the two of you would run down the street, tagging each other out of boredom, being reckless and a little bit wild. Singing or listening to songs as you walk down to your place, he misses it....
Slowly....
He realized how it's been so long since he has truly hung out with you...It twists around his gut...No, you two hung out last...Wait when was the last time you two truly hung out?... He knacks his brain, thinking of the last time you both hang out, he was with you a week ago....yeah! He was with Barnaby and you, helping you fix the window he broke. You were at Julie's party that was hosted two days ago, he probably didn't see you there, you never really were that into parties but he was sure you were there?..... He sighs in frustration, he can't seem to remember, he knows you two hang out a lot! So why can't he remember when was the last time you two hang out?! Cause he swears he saw you two days ago! He even interacted with you and you both exchange some words! It's probably the lack of sleep, he has been having a hard time with sleep as of late. Maybe that's why he can't remember, lack of sleep for some odd reason, with a sigh, he continues his walk.
Reaching the place, he walks to your front door. Ringing the doorbell he waited. Silence answered him, raising his eyebrow, he rings the doorbell again and waited. No footstep, no shuffling, nothing, silence hugged him and the surrounding, he turns the doorknob and it was locked. Maybe you went to the store? It is Sunday. You mostly go to the store on Sundays, he would even accompany you on most days, so maybe you were just in the store.
He looks under the potted plant near the door to see if you left a spare key that you always leave for him. Nothing. There was no spare key, weird...Did you lose your main key again? With a sigh, he sat down on the stairs of the porch, you probably lost your main key if the spare key is gone. You don't always lose your keys but it had happened a lot that he know why the spare key would not be in its normal spot.
He waited for you to come around, staring at the ground or at the sky, sometimes dozing off due to boredom or tiredness or probably both. The afternoon sky was lovely, he thinks of painting it and gifting it to you. He smiles at the thought, maybe you and him could hang out on the porch and just paint the afternoon sky! That seems like a nice activity for the two of you, you had always told him how you love the afternoon sky, you were a sucker for it that he started to love it too...or was it the night sky? huh...No, it was the afternoon sky that you love. You told him when days ago about it when he dropped by with Eddie.
After what seemed to be forever, he heard footsteps, he looks up ready to greet you when...
"Ah, Wally! Dear! what a pleasant surprise to see you love!" That didn't come from you, it came from old woman Josie! He smiles at the older woman "Nice to see you too Mrs. Josie" he greeted as the older woman walks up to him.
"Now dear, what are you doing here?" She asks and Wally chuckles " I'm here to visit (y/n)" He replied and the woman's face looks at him with confusion on her features. "What? Dear, they moved out three weeks ago, didn't they tell you?"
Wally's face dropped, and his smile was discarded "W-what? They moved out?" he ask, did he hear that right? "yes, moved out three weeks ago from what I can remember" She said and Wally felt his heart shatter.
Slowly, it cracks...and cracks....
" W-why?" he stuttered out, not wanting to believe it, old woman Josie is playing with him, and any moment she would start laughing saying she was joking, even though the joke seems a bit cruel...
But she didn't laugh....
"Dunno, although, they did mention about going back home, dunno what that lovely means but it did seem pretty serious"
Wally has never run so fast in his life, not even when he was chased by a dog when he first moved into the neighborhood. He has never run so fast, never darted down the street to get to his house as fast as possible. Tears fall from his eyes throughout the time, he ran and ran until he was breathing heavily, collapsing on his knees in the middle of the street as he sobs, holding onto his phone tightly.
Several missed calls he had missed throughout the months from his best friend, several unread messages, several things he had missed!...
Slowly it dawned on him, you were never in the party, it was never your window he fixed with Barnaby, it wasn't you who he interacted with two days ago! It wasn't you who was at the party! You weren't the sucker who loves the afternoon sky! It was Veronica! Veronica Williams!
He sobs harder.....Slowly, he realized that you two had stopped hanging out, you two had never hanged out, and slowly he realized that he had been ignoring you and had been avoiding you...
And that realization hit him like a train...
It slowly dawns on Wally that you haven't been in the picture for a long time now...

Edit: I have edited this, nothing really changes, so don't worry. I simply just added some colors and I hope you all are catching up with the colors now-
Also, I am very thankful for all the love this story is getting!
Hello, this is my first fanfic of a Wally Darling x reader and my first x reader in a long time. I hope you guys like this one.
TW: Unrequited Love, mentions of the reader being replaced, I guess a descend into one thinking, Angst maybe? (I'm not good at TW so if I missed anything, do tell me. This story might be triggering to some people so please be warned)
-------------------------------------------
Being in love with someone who doesn't love you back was hard, getting used to it was harder, fully accepting it the most, and pretending that it's alright was the hardest. Love binds people, making them bend on their backs and break their bones in different places at different times. What did you do to go through it? You don't know, maybe you were just unlucky or maybe you were just stupid to believe someone will love you back, nonetheless, it hurt.
You and Wally have been friends for a good few years, going through the same college and moving into the same neighborhood, the puppet himself was quite the charmer and quite the friend that you can't help but fall for him. No matter how often you told yourself you can't and won't, you just did. You watch him grow from being just someone you know to being everyone's dreamboat in the neighborhood, always the gentleman, welcoming newcomers left and right and you would help him too. You were the closest out of the bunch, always (y/n) and Wally! There goes (y/n) and Wally again! Oh, look! It's (y/n) and Wally! Always blending with each other like one solid color.
It was fun for you, cause it made you and Wally closer than ever, always at the other's house to do the stupidest thing or to simply hang out until one unfaithful day..
There was a new neighbor in town, as always, being the friendly neighbors, you and Wally went off to say hi to them! Turns out, the new neighbor was moving across from Wally's house and her name was Veronica Williams! What a lovely lady she was, greeting you and Wally politely, she was such a joy to be around the moment you two greeted her. She was a jokester, and an artist, which Wally was ecstatic about, another artist on the block!
So why did you envy her? Maybe she was very pretty and if you compare yourself with her, you wouldn't reach her. Maybe because everyone seems to enjoy her company and that was fine! You were alright with that, the more and merrier! Am I right?!
Maybe you envy her because she was better than you on the things you do, maybe you envy her because she was outstanding or maybe you envy her because she was what all Wally talked about, from day to noon, she was always what he talked about. From how lovely she was to how sweet she was for helping Barnaby to how she was such an amazing woman for making him apple pie! Its wrong to envy her but you still do, you hated that slowly, it had seemed like everyone is just preferring her over than you and that was fine! You had other things to do anyway!
"Sorry (y/n), Veronica had already offer to help me with that! Lovely lady isn't she?" Julie said.
"Sorry lovely, Veronica over there asked me to help her with this, maybe next time?" Poppy said.
"Sorry kid, I'm kinda busy helping Ven right now," Barnaby said
"Awww man, Ver Ver already offered but thanks for the offer buddy," Eddie said
After them, soon enough everyone else is either declining your help or is busy helping her and that was fine! It was fine! She was new and she was being helpful and everyone is just being helpful towards her!
"Sorry Love, I'm quite busy" Wally message you that after you ask if he wanted to hang out, it was fine, Wally was always the busy one, always making another artwork or doing art commissions. It wouldn't have hurt you, why would it? Wally was your best friend, the friendly man was always fun to hang around, especially with how he talked about the upcoming painting he plans to do. But why did it hurt? Maybe because you were just being dramatic, maybe you were just being stupid. He was just busy.
Or maybe because you see a clear view of Wally and Veronica together, laughing and having fun, talking to each other like they were the testiest of friends. It was fine, Wally is having fun and it was not his fault, he maybe wanted to hang out with her and not be bothered, the 'I'm busy' was always everyone's go-to excuse when they don't wanna do something.
You wanted to leave and just go home, let the two have fun on their own, you don't wanna ruin this, especially for Wally, he was your best friend and you love him. You don't wanna ruin his chance on his crush but why did it hurt? Why did Wally being with Veronica hurt?
Soon enough, it stopped being (y/n) and Wally. Wally slowly started to pull away from you, always stating how he needs to do something or that he and Veronica has something planned. Slowly, it was Wally and Veronica! Oh, look! It's Wally and Veronica! There goes Wally and Veronica!
It was fine, this hurt you and dampened your mood but it was fine! It's just Wally and Veronica! You watch as every memory you have with friends gets replaced, you watch as everything you used to do with your friends now does with Veronica. But it was fine! She is their friend too! Just like you are friends with them...

If you guys want me to make a part two, let me know!
Sorry if the story is crap, I'm not the best writer on the block-
But I appreciate you guys reading this!
pairing: wally darling x reader
tags: romantic fluff, love confessions, reader is a hopeless romantic !!
plot: a hopeless romantic all your life, you dreamed about the love you saw in movies and series, the type you would read in books that left you kicking your feet and giggling. cupid never seemed to be by your side, everyone who you fell in love with ended up not liking you back, so of course you were scared of another heartbreak when you moved to a new neighborhood and ended up falling for your newest neighbor, wally darling. although, it seemed that cupid didn't miss this time.
talk that talk, sunnie !!: so, this has been rotting in my google docs for almost a year already, so i thought i should post it already!! i hope you guys enjoy it, and you're more than welcome to read my other wally fics. thank you, and let's get to it!!
this fic is also available on ao3, you can click here to find it!!
A hopeless romantic, that's what you could call yourself.
You crave the love you would see on TV, those movies and series about romance had a grip on you that no one could explain, and don't get me started on the books. Even while being that amazed by the concept of being loved and cared by someone who you felt the same with, Cupid seemed to always miss his arrows.
Unrequited love was painful, you learned that the hard way. In your high school, you would watch all the high school sweethearts make their ways to classes while holding hands or eating lunch playfully with all the romantic atmosphere that came with it. What was the word you felt? Ah, that's right, you envied them.
Moving away from your town was both a relief and a scare, you would now be open to meeting new people, watching them enter your life. You hoped that they would stay.
And that's how you ended up here, in the lovely and colorful neighborhood that was Welcome Home. The name seemed silly, but you quickly learned that it was because of all the friendly behavior that those who lived there seemed to have. So friendly that they're always welcoming everyone.
All of the stars know that you would be lying if you said you weren't nervous. You never dealt good with talking to new people, you hoped that they could be friendly enough to start introductions first. Even if you were repeating how to introduce yourself like a mantra in your head, you were anxious about meeting so many people in just a day.
"Oooh! Are you the new neighbor?!" And that was your cue to use up all your social skills.
"Uh- yes?" You turned around to see who screamed, eyes meeting with a puppet girl with long blonde hair, and were those candy corn horns?
"Welcome Home! I was so excited to meet you! What is your name? What do you like?" She jumped up and down while popping multiple questions.
"I'm Y/N L/N, nice to meet you." You smiled, she's like a puppy. "I like reading and... animals, and I would love to be your friend!" There was no need to reveal your secret interest yet.
"That's amazing! You remind me of Frank, he also likes reading and animals! Well, specifically, flutterbies!" She spoke rapidly.
"Julie for the last time, they're called butterflies!" You looked to the side, seeing a gray man coming your way. "Oh, hello, I'm Frank."
You settled for waving at him. Julie, noticing your behavior, told him your name and interests. You're starting to think that Julie was sent from the angels as a way to help you enter this community. Then, you were pulled away from your thoughts as more puppet people started to gather in front of you.
"Oh my, the new neighbor has arrived already?" A girl with a sun head happily said. "My name is Sally Starlet, and you?"
"I'm Y/N L/N... nice to meet you!" You gave your best friendly smile.
Everyone introduced themselves to you, all colorful and adorable. Poppy was a pretty chicken who turned out to be an immediate mother figure to you, we also have Barnaby who is a big blue dog with a chill, kinda laid back personality that made you comfortable with his presence. Eddie Dear was the mailman, who Julie alerted you to not catch feelings for since Frank already had his eyes on him, and Howdy was a sweet man who owned the local market.
Judging by the numbers of houses, only one neighbor was missing. You pondered on how the last person could possibly be like, smiling at the idea of them being just as friendly as everyone in this colorful place that had you looking around nonstop.
"Ah, I see… am I late?" Someone spoke up, you turned around to finally meet your last neighbor.
And at that moment, you knew you were in trouble. He was absurdly pretty, with a blue pompadour and yellow skin, along with colorful clothing and eyes that pierced your soul and sent chills all over your senses. You felt your cheeks burn up, Cupid did it again and you weren't sure on how to stop staring at him.
"Woooow Wally, being late to meet our newest neighbor? How dare you!" Barnaby playfully dramatically gasped.
"I apologize, let me introduce myself." He went in your direction, standing right in front of you, who was currently almost out of breath. "I'm Wally Darling, the artist of the town, it's a pleasure to meet you…?"
"Y/N, Y/N L/N." Your voice almost cracked for a second, making your cheeks heat up even more. "Nice to meet you too…"
"How adorable, surely you're a great addition to our lovely neighborhood." He picked up your hand, giving a kiss on the back of your palm.
Stuttering, you thanked him for the compliment while trying your best to not fall on your knees. Julie came into the scene again and began telling Wally your tastes, he listened carefully while nodding and looking at you with a relaxed smile.
Eventually, everyone began slowly saying their goodbyes and going to their homes or jobs. You waved as Julie was the last one to leave and entered your house, closing the door behind you and holding your heart. It was racing, and you were well acquaintanced with the feeling.
Well, you failed, love followed your way again.
And now, what to do? You couldn't lie to yourself but it was hard to face the truth. It seemed too early for falling in love, you can just call it a crush and try to get over it, maybe this time it'll work!
Yeah, just give it some time and it'll pass, you were sure of it!
—
So, it didn't work.
That was obviously going to happen, and now you had your head in your hands while you walked around your house. On your bed, a pretty bouquet with your favorite color layed prettily there. Wally gave it to you, as a way to celebrate "your first week in the neighborhood", how sweet!
Your heart kept beating faster and faster each time you thought about the way he showed up on your doorstep, with his smug smile and bouquet in hands. He looked so innocent as your insides felt like melting from all the sweetness that gesture had.
And before you could control your feelings, you were already catching yourself humming to cheesy love songs and even singing them while cleaning the house. The radio echoed around your house, romantic tunes that you requested on the telephone to play there were all over the place.
Your once retired love books were now scattered across the floor as you giggled by imagining the scenarios with Wally. You didn't try to make a move and ask him out, your heart already had many bruises from past love delusions, and you really didn't feel like piling up another one for your heartbreak wonderland.
Instead, you just tried to become his friend while also trying to get your feelings to go away. That was, obviously, not a good idea, how could you try to stop falling for someone who you interact with everyday?
Before you could think properly on a better plan, a month had gone by. You still had your late night scenarios to giggle about, along with your hopeless romantic dreaming that pulled you into a cycle of trying to stop loving Wally Darling and learning how to love him all over again because of your weak heart.
Curse the Cupid, curse him and all of his pinkish love arrows who never found your way before. Of course you would be giving up on the first month, he never gave you what you wanted before, what could possibly make you think that now it would all go the right way?
Stupid, selfish Cupid.
—
Three months had passed, and you could say you were tired of waiting for the feelings to suddenly disappear.
You played with a doll's hand, carefully moving the antique treasure in your arms. Currently, you were at Julie's house, who was the only person who was aware of your huge crush on Wally. She giggled as she asked you questions of all the time you and "lover boy" had passed together.
"He just wanted to paint with someone, it's not like he wanted to paint alone with just me and nobody else!" You blushed while looking at the ground.
"I don't know, he never really let me or the other neighbors touch his painting supplies." Julie then whispered in a teasing manner, "Maybe he thinks of you as special, in a like-like way!"
You lowered your head while choking on your water, feelings all over the place. If there was something that Julie liked to do, it was to tease relentlessly. After you calmed down, you both started to ask each other random questions to pass the time.
"Now, as a hopeless romantic, what is your ideal date?" She questioned, looking happy as ever in your direction.
"Hmm, stargazing seems like a great date, picnics look a lot of fun too!" You bashfully chuckled. "Oh, a picnic on a sunset, that turns into a stargazing session! With sweet apple pies and cake, along with refreshing drinks!"
"Ooh, tell me more!" Julie smiled.
"Okay, then a cold wind blows and suddenly I shiver, then Wally puts his cardigan on me and hugs me closer!" You could easily feel your cheeks heating up just from your imagination.
And that earned a screech from Julie.
“Ugh, how are your scenarios always the best?!”
“It’s the prize I get for being a dreamer.” You chuckled lightly.
—
Today was a special day in the neighborhood.
Apparently, everyone was going to the nearest lake, which is gigantic, you can say, and pop up some balloons and light up some fireworks because it was the neighborhood’s anniversary!
You were currently trying to pick your best outfit, and that was because Wally was going to pick you up since you didn’t know the way to the lake. At least that’s what you told yourself so you wouldn’t freak out at the scenario. Seriously, that sounded like a romantic comedy.
After a while, you ended up settling for one of your favorite outfits, one that had stars on them. Then, a knock on the door was heard. You quickly put on your shoes and ran to open it, coming face to face to an adorable Wally, looking at you while holding a bouquet of red tulips and some amaranth.
“There we go, a bouquet of beautiful flowers for an even prettier one.”
“Oh! Wally, you shouldn’t…” You blushed and took the flowers.
“Nonsense, you deserve only the best!” He chuckled raspily.
You giggled as he gave you his hand, pleading eyes for you to walk with him. You two started walking while holding hands in the direction of the lake, talking about everything that was going on in the neighborhood. It was a nice atmosphere, comfortable enough, and dare you say, romantic.
As you arrived there, Wally smiled and kissed the back of your hand before going to talk to a knowing Barnaby, who stared at you with a big smile and wiggling his eyebrows. Julie, who saw all of that, pulled you towards her and Frank immediately.
"Oh. My. Stars! What was that? Is that a bouquet? Are you two going on a date?" She excitedly spoke while flapping her hands.
"Julie, calm down. Pretty sure she is malfunctioning." Frank told the girl by his side. "But yeah, what exactly happened there?"
"I don't know, and I'm freaking out about it!" You giggled while holding the bouquet close to you, smiling.
"That was absurdly romantic, I think he is head over heels for you!" Julie exclaimed while whispering. "Besides, look at these flowers, they are so pretty!"
"They also have an exquisite meaning, you know?" Frank randomly spoke, dropping the fact like it was nothing.
You proceeded to hint at him to keep going.
"Amaranths mean eternal love, red tulips mean true love." Frank looked at you while raising his eyebrows. "That is literally a confession."
Julie, who was holding her energy back, gave a screech and started shaking your arm. Meanwhile, you had just bluescreened. Your cheeks heated up, and you felt your heartbeat increase rapidly, like it was trying to burst out your ribcage in a desperate manner. At that point, you were checking if you still even had some pulse.
Suddenly, someone started ringing a bell, and so, everyone looked to the front, seeing Poppy there. She smiled before starting to explain that there was food on the foldable table, fireworks and water guns, everything for fun. Poppy then started handing out glasses with juice to everyone before raising a toast for the neighborhood's birthday.
After that, all of you started talking to each other. You looked around, smiling when you saw Eddie talking to Frank, who was trying his best to cover up a blush while Julie looked at him with a knowing smile from across the field, Sally was braiding some of her long hair. Poppy and Howdy were discussing random things while Barnaby just laid down at the picnic blanket and stared at the stars.
And there, from across the room, your eyes met his. Something electrical went through your body, and you could swear you felt your world stop. Suddenly, there were no more friendly neighbors around you, the festivities and candy long forgotten in your mind. No, none of that mattered anymore, did it?
It was just you and him, across a field as he slowly made his way towards you.
Wait.
You were too late to process it, he's already in front of you.
"So, dearest, how are you enjoying the party?" Wally asked, igniting a fire in your belly to light up the butterflies who panicked and fluttered along you.
"Good, I- I think everyone is having fun, what about you?" You responded, trying your best to hide your reaction with the nickname.
“I could say I am.” He looks at you, up and down, down and up. And it sets your skin ablaze.
Icarus wasn’t able to resist the beauty that was the Sun to him, and maybe you wouldn’t survive the flirt that was Wally Darling. Every single thing he does sets you on fire, butterflies infest your stomach, it’s magical and so cheesy, all at the same time.
“Come with me, I wanna show you something.” His honey-laced words get to you, and you comply with a nod.
He holds your hand, and starts going into the trees, between all those primary colored leaves. You can feel your heartbeat increasing, all your muscles about to give up, it’s like dying but not exactly that, living in ecstasy, better than any drug.
You two stop at Swan Lake, where the stars reflect on the water and the feathered bEINGS float elegantly. Your eyes shine as you see them doing their little synchronized dance, until you notice that they end up doing a heart. You sigh, real romantic.
“Darling, could you look at me, please?”
You turn to see Wally, on one knee, his hand holding yours. You might start crying.
“You see, Y/N, ever since the day I saw you, I knew there was something special about you. With your smile, your way of expressing yourself, I knew you were gonna steal my heart, and I knew that I would never have it back. I’ve heard stories in the past about soulmates, loved ones made for you, and I didn’t believe any of that, before I met you. I’m an artist, not a poet, but you make me inspired dear, to dedicate you the most beautiful forms of art out there, paint and frame your face, have millions of words dedicating my love to you, and that still wouldn’t be enough for you to understand how much I desire you. I want to see your resting face every morning, I want to hold you in my arms and sleep for eternity, I want to grow every day by your side. Would you do me the owner, Dearest, and accept my confession? To finally be mine and let me be yours?”
You, unable to hold the feeling, giddily jumped around before throwing yourself on him, both of you falling on the ground. You cried tears of joy as you said yes a million times, while he patted your back and chuckled, kissing your forehead.
—
“You know,” Frank started with crossed arms while looking at you and Wally, happily holding hands while sitting on the picnic blanket, “One could say that you two were perfect for each other.”
“That’s what I’ve been saying!” Julie exclaimed, happy that you and your Darling were together, finally together.
“Ha ha ha, oh well, I knew they were the one for me since day one.” Wally answered, pulling you into another sweet and quick kiss, making you squeak.
“Ugh, don’t leave the picnic all sappy with your love.” Frank rolled his eyes at the sight.
“Don’t be jealous Frank, everyone knows you want to live that with Ed-” He covered Julie’s mouth before she could say anything else.”
“... Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like I just won the lottery.” You proudly stated.
“Oh, they grow up so fast…” Poppy hiccuped for what seemed to be the eleventh time, being real emotional with your fresh new relationship.
“There there, Poppy.” Howdy patted her in the back.
“I’m really happy for you guys!” Said Eddie while sitting down next to Frank.
You smiled at him while Wally thanked the mailman. You grabbed yourself a piece of lemon pie to eat.
“Sooo, when’s the wedding?” Barnaby jokes.
And you proceeded to choke on your lemon pie.
pairing: wally darling x reader
tags: fluff, extremely romantic, established relationship and a secret tag!!
reader's pronouns: they/them
plot: Wally had the perfect date planned for you, with the help of everyone in the neighborhood, he could only hope for the best outcome of a special surprise made just for you.
sunnie, talk that talk: okay, so, MY MIND WOULDN'T LET ME SLEEP IF I DIDN'T WRITE THIS BEFORE LIKE OH MY STARRRSSSS, I NEEDED TO GET IT OUT OF MY SYSTEM SO BADLY. anyways, hope u guys enjoy as always, have a great reading sunshines <33
You checked your outfit five times in the last minute, trying to find a way to make it look even nicer.
Wally had, suddenly, decided to take you out on a date for the night. He only spoke about having a picnic to watch the sunset, claiming that he just really needed to have you by his side that day.
That was no problem, you would be by his side until the world ended and you were nothing but another skeleton under the dirt.
Still, you wanted to look nice! The best you could. Even after being his partner for such a long time, you couldn't help but still feel the butterflies whenever he talked to you, hugged you or kissed you. Having a crush on your boyfriend surely was one of the things that would never end.
Julie couldn't help you tonight, apparently, she had to work on some stuff that was really important. That was okay, you thought before noticing how hard it was to fix yourself without the help of your personal stylist.
You heard a knock on the door, he was here already?! In a hurry, you finished putting on your shoes/heels and left the house, completely forgetting to even bring a coat.
The first sight you had after leaving was Wally, holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers.
"For you, my dearest." He spoke, eyes staring right back at yours.
"Oh my!" You grabbed the bouquet, smiling and blushing like a teenager in love. "Thank you, they are lovely."
"Just as lovely as you." Wally kissed your cheek and held your hand.
You chuckled while hiding your red face in the bouquet. What a charmer. He pulled your hand, walking both of you to a specific area, and that was Poppy's garden. Fairy lights illuminated the place, a table rested with two chairs on the center of the yard. Candles sat on top of the table, giving it a romantic atmosphere.
"Oh my stars... Wally..." You had your hand covering your mouth.
"Did you liked it?"
"Don't be silly, I loved it."
He smiled softly, feeling proud of his work. Then, he went over to the table, pulling a chair and looking at you. Understanding the message, you chuckled before walking over there and sitting down.
"What a gentleman." You waved your hand like a fan while the other one settled the bouquet down by your side.
"Ha ha, only the best for my love!" He sat down by the other end of the table.
You decided to take a look on the table, surprising yourself. A bottle of champagne sat by the middle, two flute glasses being next to it. In front of you, a plate with your favorite dinner with a fork/spoon/chopsticks by the side of the dish.
"You somehow keep surprising me..." You looked at him. "Oh my stars, everything is... I'm way too amazed to find the words right now."
He chuckled at your reaction, leaving a smile finding is place on your face.
"Like I said, just the best for my beloved." He held his face with his hand, cupping it as he watched your expression turn into pure gratitude.
"Thank you so much for this, I'll love you even after the end of the world." You held your tears back, it was not the time to get so emotional.
"And I love you like Van Gogh loved the color yellow." Okay, he was gonna make you cry at some point.
He popped open the champagne, pouring ir into your glass and his. After that, you both started to talk about each other's day, you kept finding yourself mouth agape each time he came into intricate details about how he planned that afternoon for you. It looked like it was a long day for him, you laughed, were concerned, surprised and excited about each part of his story.
"So, you borrowed the fairy lights from Sally?" You looked over to the mentioned piece. "No wonder they looked so familiar."
"Yep, and it wasn't that easy to convince her, I had to tell her the surprise I was planning which made her immediately say yes." He chuckled.
"What surprise?" You questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Uh- oh! Look, the Sun is starting to set." He pointed to the horizon.
You immediately turned, seeing the sky mix into beautiful colors as the Sun slowly set it's way down. You didn't even hear the chair that Wally was sitting on moving from it's place, while he got up and moved to your side.
"Dear, could you look here, please?" You did as told, feeling the air evaporate from your lungs.
There, in one knee, was Wally. In his hands, a box with a beautiful diamong ring was opened to you. Tears started rolling down your cheeks.
"Y/N L/N, ever since I first met you, I knew I was a gone man. You held my heart at first sight, like a puppeteer holds the strings of their puppet. I was never able to hide how I feel, being a sincere man at soul and heart. So when I confessed my feelings, and you accepted them with such an angelic smile, I felt like I had won the whole world. Ever since then, I knew I was made for loving you until the world ended, I dreamed about this moment from the very first week that I was able to call you mine. But now, I feel like that's not enough, I need you to be with me in more than just a boyfriend and partner, I need to see you when I set myself to sleep and wake up by your side, I need to come Home after painting and have you receive me with a hug, or the opposite, I don't mind staying at Home all day if it meant you would come back at some point to let me love you for the rest of the day, repeating in a loop." Wally stared at you with love, care and adoration, which made you fail even more with holding back more tears as they freely fell from your face. "So, I now propose to you, will you make me the happiest puppet on the Universe for the hundredth time, and marry me?"
Your answer was a sobbed "I do". After that, he took the ring and put it on your finger. You admired each details of what symbolized his eternal love for you, and began crying even more.
Not being able to hold yourself back anymore, you jumped at him, making both of you fall to the ground. You captured his lips with a kiss and made sure to trail more of them all over his face.
By the window, your friends watched with tears in their eyes, Poppy being the loudest sobber of them all while Eddie and Frank hugged each other, Howdy and Barnaby looked absolutely relieved that everything went well and Sally smiled while shining her brightest. Julie, crying in pure joy, held up a polaroid camera and took a photo of you and Wally, kissing with the sunset sky being the source of light to your figures. With a permanent marker, she wrote on the white frame of the picture.
"They said yes!"

"trust me, you'll look delightful!!" julie happily said.
you could only smile at her antics. in this situation, you were being julie's test doll as she tried different makeup looks on you. after some time though, she decided to set on a particularly chic look on you, smokey eyes and cherry red lipstick. not only that, she made you dress up in clothes that fit the makeup more, saying something about "fitting the dark fancy look".
"aaaand done!!" julie placed down the lipstick, "oh. my. gosh!! you look absolutely stunning!!"
"do i? where is the mirror??" you asked, going directly to your reflection.
you could agree, that looked absolutely great on you, maybe you should try different styles for often. only with julie around, though.
"you look like a hollywood star, or maybe one of those crazy rich people on tv shows!!" she stimmed, flapping her hands nonstop.
"thank you, i... liked this." the praise made you shy.
"oh, we need to go now!! poppy is holding a friend gathering tonight in her backyard!!" julie smiled while catching your hand to hold hers.
you both left the girl's house and began walking towards poppy's. on the way, you thought about what could the neighbors say, maybe even a certain yellow artist would notice and think of you as something more.
truth be told, you had a huuuuuge crush in wally darling, the artist in your lovely tiny neighborhood. nobody could blame you, those half lidded eyes with a cat-like smirk surely would make more than just you fall completely down the stairs of love.
as you two finally arrived, you could see everyone eventually get into your point of view. the food table was full of delicious looking meals, and not to mention how everyone was dressed in different outfits from their usual daytime clothing, opting for a more formal look even.
"oh? julie and y/n arrived!!" barbaby exclaimed, "how are you doing, lady and--"
everyone immediately looked in your direction, julie hugged your arm on your side and giggled. heat started pooling in your cheeks as each of their eyes seemed to get wider at your presence. sally was the first to break the silence.
"oh my, y/n looks amazing!!"
barbaby whistled, "julie sure did a great job, you look stunning."
you chuckle as more praises pour in. unfortunately, it seems like the reason you got overly dressed up hasn't shown up yet. moving to the table, you get yourself a nice glass of grape juice while looking over to the gateway incase wally randomly pops out of the air.
looks like your prayers were answered, you hear poppy scream like a mother seeing her son in graduation clothing, "wally!! you're finally here!!"
you look over to him, your cheeks heating up immediately and heart beating a bit more fast. standing in a blue tuxedo with a red tie was wally, with his pompadour still up and his mesmerizing eyes. you swallow the air as to control yourself.
"ha ha, hello everyone." his voice still sounds as calm and relaxed as ever, which doesn't help at all with your flustered state.
"let me guess, you're late because you were working on your pompadour?" frank sarcastically spoke.
"oh, you guessed it. nice one, ha ha!" wally just laughed before looking around him, "all of you look amaziiiiiiiingggg..." his words slurred down as his eyes stopped at you.
you could feel his eyes burning through your skin. if you were made of wax, you would've melted already. his stare was everywhere, your clothing, your hair before finally stopping at your face, meeting your gaze.
"oh my..." wally had his mouth wide opened.
"hehe, surprised?" barnaby questioned his friend with a knowing face.
"y/n decided to let me do their makeup and choose their outfit today, don't they look amazing?!" julie exclaimed happily.
snapping out of his thoughts, wally answered.
"yea, of course." he smirked as usual while looking in your eyes, "what a sight for sore eyes."
you blushed before thanking him, earning another one of his half lidded eyes stare. wally made his way to you, holding one of your hands and planting a kiss on the back of your palm.
"oh my, what a gentleman we have here." you chuckled, trying to play cool.
it seemed to work, his usual yellow cheeks earned a light red shade. liking his reaction, you decided to be a bit more bold, planting a kiss on his cheek before walking away to julie, leaving a flustered wally holding where your lips once were.
"ooh, what was that?? you looked so... powerful!!" she jumped up and down.
"w- well i mean, two can play this game, right?" your tongue failed you, making you stutter and julie giggle at that.
"hehe, sly y/n!! i like this side of you, makes you look all cool and mysterious!" she striked a pose with finger guns, you laughed at that.
suddenly, sally walked right behind julie, waving at her and stopping in front of you, motioning for you to get close.
"i don't mean to gossip, but wally can't keep his eyes off of you!" the sunshine whispered.
you looked over your shoulder, making eye contact with that smug stare of his. you could feel him scanning your face, which was obviously making him more flustered since he couldn't stop staring so much.
seeing the romantic tension in the air, julie and sally looked at each other before walking together to the opposite side that you were, starting a conversation with eddie and frank. wally, seeing this opportunity, approached you with confident steps.
"so, mx. l/n, what made you dress up so... differently?" he asked.
"oh, you know darling, just for the friend gathering." you took use of his last name, obviously causing a reaction as he noticed what you did.
"ha ha, clever as ever, i see."
"thank you. any other question?" you smugly smiled at him while screeching on the inside.
"hmm, do you wanna take a walk with me, we can take a look at the stars maybe."
you were jumping up and down inside your head, "of course, lead the way."
you walked by his side, interlocking your arms together. his shoulders relaxed and he widened his eyes before walking out of the gateway with you by his side.
you gotta' give him credits, the sky looked absolutely beautiful that night.
"the stars look beautiful tonight." you spoke, eyes shining like the billions of lights above you two.
"not so beautiful as someone i know." wally was obviously hinting at you, but you decided to play his game.
"oh really? who?" you jokingly questioned.
"you know who." he responded, you tilted your head in a provocative manner, "you, of course."
"quite the romantic you are." you leaned closer to him, making his cheeks get brighter, "any other reason of why you wanted to take me out in this particular night?"
he looked to the side before staring right back at you.
"there is another reason." he released your arm and got in one knee, "you see, i have something to confess to you. y/n l/n, ever since you moved in here, i was never able to take my eyes off of you. even as you walked by and just laughed with our friends, i could always find my gaze stuck upon your figure. i thought i was able to keep my feelings hidden for you, each and all of my pining could be hidden as i fell more deeper for you. but today, you showed up in a way that i can't explain, blessing my eyes and enchanting this puppet's heart right into your palm." your heart was beating so fast, eyes almost watering before you calmed down, cheeks reddening at the sight of his moonlit self, "so i beg and ask of you, would you wanna give this artist a chance and become his one and only muse?"
you were speechless, only nodding your head before he got up and you threw yourself at him, kissing his face and leaving multiple lipstick marks. cheeks, forehead, the space where his nose would be, and finally, his lips.
you were so happy, couldn't contain yourself from leaving him absolutely breathless.
"of course, i do." you chuckled while he tried to recompose himself, only to be stared at by heart eyes and a loving sigh.
"give a man a warning before you rock his world like that." he laughed quietly.
you held his face on your palms, and it felt like you were holding the world, feeling confidence wash over you as you traced your eyes towards the marks you left on him.
"WOOOO-HOOOO!! GO Y/N!!!!" you heard someone scream.
looking over your shoulder, you were met with all of your friends watching you guys from afar. eddie and frank holding hands while eddie laughed and his boyfriend just slightly smiled, julie jumping up and down while stimming alongside sally who was shining even more brightly, howdy chuckling while clapping all of his four hands, barnaby clapping while howling happily and poppy stared with watered eyes like a proud mother.
well, at least you two didn't need to spend the rest of the night explaining how you and wally darling became a couple.
and with that, you gave him another peck on the lips, before pulling him to all of your friends, while he lovingly stared at you, his for now and forever number one muse.
"dearest, you're the absolute most."
