a heads up for anyone agonizing over 431 and it’s distinct oddness compared to the rest of the manga/as a last chapter:

tl;dr horikoshi asserts that 429 is mha’s final chapter and 430 is mha’s epilogue. he subtly implies he did not write 431 and less subtly implies he does not see it as part of his main storyline. basically up to us if we want to see it as canon or not, but to horikoshi, chapter 430 was the end of bnha.

This didn't even feel like mha, this epilogue felt so forced. They had no romantic chemistry; nor implication, and it seems like he tried using Toga's death as an excuse to just pare Ochako with Izuku (not saying that's what he intended, but it kinda looks like it, to me at least). It doesn't look like this ending was intended, it looks like it was just added to make the DudeBros™ happy. I feel like this wasn't what Hori wanted for the ending, I think he was told to rewrite it. Like, didn't he say in interviews how he didn't like endings like this? How he didn't like that that's how Naruto ended? Wouldn't he want to not do that, especially to his own story? Sorry if this seem pretty tin foil hat of me, but I think Shonen Jump had something to do with this. And I'd argue they've been planning to do this chapters ago, maybe even the whole time; regardless of how the story was gonna go. Idk, but whatever it was, it still ended HORRIBLE

Okay, I kinda overreacted here. The ending wasn't that bad, but I am still a bit upset about it. I still wish Izuku and Katsuki had a talk about their relationship and feelings for each other, whether they're romantic or platonic, it feels like they should've to finish the story properly. But regardless I'm glad it ended with everyone happy, and I'm glad Izuku got the chance to become a hero again. Sorry I was mad earlier lmao, I may not like the ending that much; but I still love the story. I'm honestly really gonna miss mha, and I feel pretty bad for being so harsh on the ending, I mean it just ended. But you know, even though it's over, it doesn't mean I can't love it anymore :)

Like there's no way in hell they didn't keep much contact with Izuku after graduation, especially Katsuki. I simply refuse. And they 𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘰𝘳𝘦 talking about Izuku's feelings at the end? 𝘕𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 addressing how he's been feeling about everything? After Shigaraki's death, after Katsuki's short death, just his feeling for Katsuki in general, or even how he's been feeling about anything? FUCK that. This just felt rushed and didn't feel like it completed the story, let alone Izuku's character

Like this looks like hori's old art style (or in some panels not at all like his art??) Like here's his re-draw of that one Deku scene compared to a scene in the epilogue

like??? He's had so much time to work on it,so why would it look like his old art style? Especially if we can expect to see THAT (on the right) in the same volume??? Something is fishy here.

like the only people confirming this is real/cannon are leakers,and even some of the Japanese fandom is confused/upset about this. I haven't seem any of the official announcements for this,and a TON of the pages are missing. Like they're meant to be 30+and there's only like what the same ten going around?

If these were leaks they wouldn't be so high quality and they would,y'know,look like hori's art style? I know I said some of it looked ai generated,and I still do think some panels do,but this really feels like a different manga.

Story and art wise this feels empty and disconnected from the series. Like it's the exact opposite of what happened in 430. Like Hori decided that he hated Katsuki and forgot all about literally everything to do with Izuku and Katsuki's relationship?

He said he didn't want a naruto ending,but he decided to give us one in the epilogue??? He said he wanted an ending like heroes rising,so he decided to contradict the whole damn movie for this epilogue????

Nothing makes sense about this. I have hope this isn't official,but honestly I'm starting to give up on Hori,and I don't like that. I always trusted him to write what he wanted,but what I've seen and read doesn't seem like Horikoshi's,it's not mha. It feels like a dudebro wrote this.

Like Izuku is so emotionless in this. It's empty. He's empty. And I'm supposed to believe this guy drew all of THIS and decided to go back on all of it with a few pages????

I really don't think this epilogue is going to be official,I HOPE it isn't,but I haven't much of a reason to think Hori wrote/drew this horse shit. Besides leakers saying so. And I don't really trust them very much,so I don't really have any reasons to think this is cannon.

But only time will tell.

I can't get over how canon it is that bakudeku love each other. Even if it isn't romantic, they love each other so fucking much. Katsuki nearly died for Izuku TWICE, Izuku went feral over this ALSO twice. They protect each other at all costs, they mimic each other, they follow each other everywhere, they think of each other constantly.

They're childhood friends, they share the same dream, Katsuki is canonically Izuku's most important person. They lock eyes across the battle field and look at each other with hope just knowing the other is alive.

My god they love each other so fucking much??? And it's just...it's not even subtext? It's just text??
